I was reading some posts about the sugar alcohols. I was just wondering if they are bad for you. I have been eating some stuff that contains this and I am still losing weight. Also, when I first start SB is there anything limited in the first two weeks, like on Atkins? Afterwards, can I eat some kind of bread? Is there a low carb bread, or ice cream or something? Thanks for any info.

I have awful stomach cramping and pain after eating sugar alcohols. I don't think they are good for you at all but, some people do have them without the stomach issues. After doing phase 1 you slowly add things back in to see what your triggers are. I started this last time in March and am just now adding in a few grains. I added fruit a month ago. I wouldn't recommend adding large amounts of anything with sugar alcohols like ice creams and bars maybe just use them for now and then treats.

Hi, you can use rye bread, or whole wheat bread, not to be mistaken with whole meal bread! :)
I personally don;t have a problem with substitute sugar, but only in tea and coffee and occasionally on oatmeal, I limit my intake because in the past when I have eaten bars and sweets with SA's in I get a terribly upset tummy; a common side effect of them.
