I am 5'4 23 years old and 134. I have been low carbing since last monday, the 15th and have lost no weight. I have been on phase one, with 20 g or less carbs/day. I have also been working out everyday- 35 min of cardio every other day, weights/stretching every other day. I am getting SO frustrated. What can I do to kickstart the weight loss?

Being that we do not count carbs on South Beach, I wonder why you are counting at all, let alone staying at 20 carbs a day?

Have you seen the meal plan chart?

If you would post a few menus of what you have been eating, I will try to help you.

You really do need to read the book before commencing anything like this. If you're taking a stab in the dark at doing SB you'll be dissapointed when your weight loss doesn't materialize.

I hope we can help you, like the others have said you need to post some menues for us to see what you've been eating.
I can almost garantee your weigh will come off if you do the plan correctly.

I was curious about the carb count too. I just tried guessing my carb intake yesterday and I am positive it was way over 20. I don't know the carb counts for most veggies but, I know I am way over 20. Did you follow the induction on South Beach? I think if you just started last week you are probably still on phase one. I loved the meals plan listed in the book for phase one. I followed that strictly as I was sure if I didn't I'd end up eating something not allowed. Maybe try that for your second week. Good luck!!!!

I too have yet to lose. I have been on it for 2 weeks. But I have faith and will keep at it. My rings feel looser and my skin looks great! So I am hanging in. You look like you want to lose similar amount to me and everyone says it is slower so take heart.
I switched from Atkins because I realized this is a WOL and not just diet and I could not continue all the fat.
So hang in there and post when you lose!!

Hi all,

Here is what I eat on a typical day:
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and two pieces of low fat turkey sausage
Lunch:Salad or piece of meat(chicken or turkey)
Dinner: Piece of meat with veggies or salad
Snacks: cheese, unsalted peanuts, cottage cheese.

Sometimes I have those low carb bars (net carbs 3) and carb smart icecream bars (net carbs 2-5)

Thanks for the help :)

The bars could be stalling you with the sugar alcohols etc. They aren't ok on phase 1, at least I don't think. I'd have a salad with meat on top or egg etc so that you are getting protein in the salad. You could also cut back on the cheese a bit. I can only have one serving of cheese a day although many here can have a bit more than that. Are you spacing snacks one between breakfast and lunch, one between lunch and dinner, and then one after dinner? You can do it! Try cutting out the low carb bars/ice creams and see if you start losing!

I suggest that you do a very clean phase I/induction and don't eat those bars or carb smart ice cream for the 2 week period. Also, try to avoid eating sausages each day and do try to include veggies or V8 juice with your breakfast.

Are you measuring your protein? At your weight, you will need to pay close attention to portion sizes. What kind of cheese and how much each day?....it should not be more than 2-4 ozs of cheese per day as part of your 2 cup dairy daily totals.
