:help: Hi everyone. I just joined this group and this is my very first post so be kind! :)
I have been doing a lot of reading about The South Beach Diet. I am just starting this low carb dieting - my triglycerides are up and I have tried doing this on my own without much success. So here I am.
I have read and read and read and would like to know....is this really a realistic diet for someone who has not done this before? I am the sole provider for my family of four...is this an expensive endeavor? Realistically I want to lose about 50 pounds...can I do that on this diet?
Thanks everyone!

Welcome Lori,
At the top of this thread there is a sticky with the meal plans, and food lists. Print these off and these are wonderful self help tools.
As for this being realistic "diet" my answer is NO to the DIET. But is it a realstic LIFESTYLE YES. Start with phase 1 and work thru your changes as move thru the phases. I've found SB to very easy to live with. My hubby has been at his goal for over a year and done very well on SB. We started SB almost 2 years ago and I know we can live on SB for life. :agree:
Hope all my chatting has been of some help.

WELCOME! I too am "new" today is day 13 of phase one (only one more day of phase 1 to go!!!) It is a realistic way to eat. We are also on a budget in this house, i just look at the grocery ads and whichever store has the best sales on meats/cheeses/vegetables... well than that's where I go. (Btw.. I noticed lots of stores have LOTS of greatmeats to grill on sale this week bec. of the holiday, so I just "stocked up" a bit, and put it in the freezer).
Anyway, print the lists, and put them on your fridge, and carry them in your purse so you have them with you. I just have quit buying "no no" foods. I feel SO MUCH BETTER, even in just barely 2 weeks! This is a great group for support, questions, encouragement and ideas!
