If you are new to South Beach and you haven't already found our group, then come and join in. I called the thread the Beach Babes, but men are more than welcome to come along too! We have two male members (one how has just had a baby!) and we are a lively group.

If you want to come on in and join us, there is an optional weigh in on a monday morning, which helps to keep people motivated!

We'd love to see you....so come along, the water is warm!!

I think I am going to try and make the change...just still feeling a little confused. I had great success with ATkins 18 months ago...lost 45 pounds, but eventually went back to eating everything under the sun due to some stresses...so I don't blame it on Atkins...just me. But I bought the South Beach book today thinking maybe it would be more healthy in the long run and considering the fact that to lose on Atkins, I really actually had to watch my calorie intake and just eat smarter and healthier, so I thought, maybe that's what South Beach is anyway. I read the book, but now I'm not sure. It doesn't seem very definitive about the good carbs, etc., although I like that because I think everyone's system reacts differently. I have hypoglycemia...that is why Atkins works as far as not getting those symptoms. I am waiting to see how many more carbs I could add in and still remain free of the hypoglycemic symptoms while eating less...anyway, I see I am one of tons of people going through this debate...I have printed out the the food charts and plan to read the book again. I have been on what I would consider a little more than induction on Atkins...just wondering where that would put me on South Beach.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just wanted to pop my head in and say Hi.

I am new to the Beach, too. I've been reading these forums for almost a year.

I started my weight loss journey in 2001 on CAD. Switched to WW, and lost 50 more pounds. Stalled out, and tried Atkins last year. I initially dropped a bunch of weight, but I had a hard time sticking with it, and I ended up with a bit of an all or nothing mentality, and I fell off the wagon hard a few times. Whoops...

So here I am, heavier than when I started Atkins (think I need to update my profile) and ready for something new. I have started South Beach on phase II (I never managed to get past induction on Atkins). I've been very carefully adding in some fruit and starchy vegetables (yams, squash)... so far, I like it. It seems like there is more calorie control and a bit more choice.

Have a great evening, everyone! :D
