hey everyone
just wanted to know if anyone has tried this type of flaxmeal? i was thinking of ordering it but wanted to know if anyone likes it. does it make good warm cereal with cream and butter? :yum: i know that its allowed on induction so this might help me from cheating and eating the high carb, sugar overload cereal that is here. also does it have to be refrigerated? and can it freeze well? netrition has a two pound bag for like six bucks. i dont want to waste it and have it go bad. any advice is welcomed :yum: :yum: :yum: :yum: :agree: :agree:

Bob's is probably the best that I have eaten. I usually keep the bulk of it in the freezer to keep it from going rancid and put about 2 cups in the container that I scoop out of daily.

There are many different recipes out there for both making it into cereal and my all time favorite the bowl muffin. Check out the recipe section you won't be disappointed.

Lisa

thanks
wanted to make sure someone has tried it and liked its nutty flavor. i wont buy some products unless i get the opinion of other lc people. getting my order together for next month. i order once a month and so far it works very well. i dont like taking the herbal laxatives for not having enough fiber in my diet. i rather just add the fiber. thanks sooooooo much :agree:

Yup, Bob's is the stuff!!

I like your idea for a hot cereal...I usually use flax, cocoa wheat bran and sweetner with a bit of coconut milk warmed through...kinda like cocoa wheats... :yum:

Hi

Bob's Red Mill Flaxmeal

Great stuff, sometimes you can buy it in your local grocery store, health food store, or lowcarb store to save from ordering online.

Keep it in the fridge like cnmLisa said to keep it fresh, if it "smells" funny, kind of a twangy smell don't use it, it should smell good. I had a bad batch once, and learned how the smell "should be". ;)

There is a great flax muffin recipe here in the cooking section, check it out!

That twangy smell think turpintine. Flax seeds=Linseeds. Turpintine is made from linseeds. and no...you're not eating turpintine;)

Just make sure you buy it from a place that has a rapid turnover, or just grind your own, which you can do in seconds with a spice/coffee grinder.

Linseed oil and turpentine are two different things, although they are used together for some purposes.

I like it, i use it to make pancakes...and sometimes muffins. But i find that the texture is a little different, it took some getting used to. But it has a great flavor, i'm sure you'll like it.

Personally, I prefer the Golden variety of flaxseed meal and I buy Bob's Red Mill brand. I just think it has a more delicate, less "grassy" flavor than the darker seeds. YMMV
