Hey all ... question i have is buying red meat is a lot cheaper at the regular grocery store compared to the organic stores. So do any of you out there do well on regular beef or do you have to have range fed for no hormones and less omega -6's or does it really matter as i just need to up my fat intake levels......

Although range fed and organic are always going to be better, I don't have any availability of either where I live. I just eat regular, plain old cow from the store;)
If you can afford it and it's available to you do range fed or organic. If not take a nice combo of omega 3s and 6s in supplements.

I agree that organic and grass fed are better, but I eat the commercial beef for cost reasons. I do take omega-3 supplements and avoid the vegetable oils that provide the extraneous omega-6s.

Rite on Lisa and Mike....So taking the omega -3 fishoils will balance this out ...o.k. great now how many grams of omega -3 a day approximately and one last question is regular beef fat better than lean beef fat.(i love hamburger) Thanks again !!

I use the fatter packages of ground beef. I don't know if they are better, but they are cheaper and a lot of the fat seems to remain in the pan after I cook them. I take from 1000 to 1200 of omega-3 supplements a day.

Howdy do!
If you have ever eaten grass fed, organic beef and store bought beef a day apart, there is no contest as to the taste and texture of the organic beef. Though you will also have a better quality of nutritional beef, you won't be able to taste that in the eating. That being said, I buy most of my beef from the local supermarket.
I will not buy it from Aldi's though as all their "fresh meats" have up to 20% of "solution" injected into them. What is this solution, and why are they injecting it in their meats? It is usually salt water to add weight and mosture to an inferior quality product. Simply said, they make a better bang for their buck even selling it at a lesser price as salt water is cheaper than beef. No thanks, I'll buy it elsewhere.
I also use plain old hamburger most of the time. It is cheaper and they don't put that *~#~~* red food dye on it like they do with ground chuck and ground round. I buy it in the bulk packs and separate it out when I get home.
I also take about 900 mg of omega 3 supps daily, and I eat a lot of tuna, shrimp, crab, salmon, cod and kippered herring so I am getting a good bit from my diet as well.
