too much bacon??
the only part of my breakfast that I look forward to is the bacon :yum: I have no way of finding out the nitrate content... these things are just not possible in India.:(.. so I'm hoping that 7 - 8 oz of bacon /day is not a bad thing?
I'm not so fond of other pork products like pork sausages... they're too porky for me... know what I mean? so i eat those once every few days...
2. wrong mustard?
I bought grey poupon : http://kraftfoods.com/main.aspx?s=product&m=product/Product_display&Site=1&Product=5440000040
just because it said "south beach diet friendly". I figured it was at least not THAT bad... the others had no nutrition labels on them!!! But I do know that there is some sugar in it.... but the carbs are zero... is this ok??
If not, what other brand should I get? (praying I find it in this hell hole)
HALP!! maybe that's why I'm not losing!!?...or?

You could be eating too much bacon. Bacon is very salty and has a lot of sodium which can make some retain water. I would go light on it and see if it helps.
As far as the mustard, the Grey Poupon should be fine....the sugar content is very miniscule.

not trying to be a party pooper.. but 7 oz of cooked bacon is like 1129 calories. I know I mentioned bacon binging being ok, but not every day ;)
Ok.. so you're not supposed to count calories on Atkins, but that is only because it is supposed to naturally curbs the appetite and food consumption.
It might be better to eat a light breakfast and save the heavy duty meals for later in the day.. I love to eat a big dinner so I try to skimp early on. Other people love a BIG breakfast and eat less later in the day.

do you have muffin tins?
Chop of some of your favourite yummy veggies, maybe give them a sautee first, chop some bacon into tiny bits and cook it. Add in veggies, spices of your choice, and a SMALL amount of bacon into each muffin shape and pour the eggs over top. Add a SPRINKLE of grated cheese on top of that. If you limit yourself to 1 or two for breakfast you won't be eating too much. Or you could do a spinach and cottage cheese and goat/feta cheese quiche mmm.

Meg,
Do you have a recipe for the goat/feta cheese quiche?
TIA! :)

no, I usually make things up while I go. Drain some frozen spinach and really squeeze as much water our as you can, layer it.. or mix it with the beaten eggs and cottage cheese.. and put the feta/goat cheese on the top. For more flavour just add more goat cheese to the inner layers of cottage cheese.
I do something similar for a lasagna feel... ground beef, lots of cottage cheese, a low carb pasta sauce, chopped zucchini and some seasoning. Mix in a bowl :) Not pretty but it's delicious and not a killer calorie wise.

Yikes. That's way too much bacon. In fact, bacon every day in any amount is too much bacon. Anyway, who says breakfast has to be bacon and eggs?
Got chicken? Tuna? Steak? Ham? Turkey? How about a nice salad? Leftovers? Use that mustard to make deviled eggs. You can mix some crabmeat into the egg stuffing if you like. I like 'em with curry.
A little imagination--and surfing the recipes--can help you come up with a convenient and varied menu. Ditch the bacon.
