Be patient, my dear. You have less weight to lose than a lot of us, and that usually means that things will go a little slower than you might have expected based on the stories of people who have fifty, seventy-five or a hundred pounds to lose. This isn't going to happen in six days, but every day you stick with it brings you one day closer to the number of days it IS going to take for *you*. And every day you don't stick to it may add three or four or six days onto your personal "magic number".
I can tell you are a driven person who is able to make serious commitments and put serious effort into making good on your commitments - and are probably used to seeing pretty fast results from your efforts. Nothing like me (ha ha - I am a workaholic overachiever who suffers from the delusion that I can fix anything if I just set my mind to it and work hard enough...sometimes it is a pretty helpful delusion to have but that doesn't make it any less of a delusion).
Maybe this journey will also be about acceptance of yourself and time and the universe and all kinds of touchy-feely, new-agey, spiritual aspects of life apart from the merely physical aspects of dropping the pounds. The time it takes will, I am sure, be a time rich with opportunities for reflection and learning and exploring the well of patience (In the background, my evil twin is sneering and spouting off: "Patience? Patience? I don't need no stinkin' patience, I want RESULTS!")
Stay strong. Love yourself.

i hear you rosemary... it's just very very hard. It's one thing that you're having sugar/carb cravings...and then to top it, you're geeting this c**p from people around you.
I guess I didn't sleep so well last night - have a mild headache. I'm actually trying to look like I don't have a headache coz if the people at work see that - they'll put it down to my bad eating habits. And then there wil be another discussion!
I am truly upset today.:tears:

Hey..don't be upset. I can't see your menu's, so can't answer the question "are you eating right", however, it's possible with this diet that you're losing inches even when you're not losing pounds, I know I did. Heck.. if I could chose between inches and pounds, I'd take inches every time!!
GOOD LUCK!

PLEASE measure yourself. There are a lot of factors here.
I thought I remembered you mentioning that your clothes are feeling a little better.. but that you were also heading into pre TOM. Anything pre-TOM is inadmissable.. you swell, you retain water and it sucks. So it doesn't count :)
Also, if you've eaten very low fat for years and years your body is very likely repairing muscle tissue, tissue which weighs more than fat. Even if you only weight once every two weeks take your measurements as well.
You're not eating wrong.. I've seen your menu.

Rosemary is a wise woman. Copy that post and put it where you can read it every day.
After three years, I'm still paying attention, still learning, still being mindful of what is required to achieve and maintain my weight and fitness goals. And every day, it's worth it. I AM worth it. And so are you.

If you post a few menus of what you have been eating, that might help someone make some suggestions.

Sick of the meat? That is another LC misconception. Those that are bored are not looking at all the different foods they can eat and they are not trying new things. Start checking out the recipes. Use herbs and spices. Watch out though some spices have sugar added to them.
I have tried and enjoyed several new foods I never imagined I would eat. I am eating old foods in new ways. I am no longer in the food rut of eating the same type of food over and over again. Chicken, fish, beef, pork, turkey. There are so many different ways to eat all that.
Ummm last night was seasoned chicken thighs pan fried in olive oil, fresh green beans pan fried in seame oil and cauliflower mashed with butter and chives. What is boring about that?
Breakfast was a pancake made from one egg and flax seed. Lunch was spinach salad, with turkey, 1 oz of cheese and bacon dressing.
I snacked on sugar free pickles and a "creamcicle shake", made from cystal light and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. NO I did not eat them together.
I also enjoy Fiber Choice plus Calcium tabs. They are sugar free and seems like I am eating candy.
Tired of the meat? Then try new things.

Then patience is the only missing ingredient. Calm down. It's about the journey, not the destination. Really.

Hey
You should only take things out if you don't loose, you shouldn't feel like you have to do it. However it has only been 6 days and everyone is different. Patience is a virtue so they say. You are so strong willed and I am sure that if you stick with it you will loose consistanlty. There are people on the board who loose 1-2 a week and thats fine its not on you no more thats for sure!!
Stick at it gal and keep your chin up

Reality check here, Soulmia :nono:
How much weight did you expect to lose in your complete 14 days of induction?? According to the 'accepted average' here you should expect to lose between 5% and 10% of your total hoped for loss which works out at between 1.75 and 3.5 pounds.
You have lost 2.2 pounds in those few days so I would suggest you have lost about the average figure to be expected already. :yay:
So try to take a long view of it - you still have over a week of induction to go before you can decide (chapter 13) if you are resistant to weightloss or not and can think about what to do about it.

I think you're doing great...on most diets you couldn't lose 2.2 lbs in such a short period. I too have less to lose, so maybe that is why it is slower for us.
Stay strong, and I am sure you'll be dropping those pounds steadily, even if it is not as quick as you want. ;)

I know looking in the mirror everyday while you were gaining you probably didn't see what was happening to you slowly. It was a real life moment for me when I looked in the mirror and didn't recognize that person ... it was a slow transformation.
The same happens when you lose. You will not see it today, not tomorrow or even next week. It will be a single moment where you catch a glance and begin to see yourself again. By many standards it is slow, especially if you like that instant gratification. You will see how quick it goes .. 1 month, 2 months, 6 months .. a year. To me that's a short time in comparison to a lifetime of being unhappy with my weight and health.
You obviously want this. Want it bad it enough to take it slow and stay the course. It all comes in due time. You are doing it .....

Have to go to work, babe, but could not leave without saying that I hope you feel better. Seriously, you will notice the difference soon! It is still too early. Give it another week and don't cut out your favorite stuff. If you feel you must just to see what happens, just portion it down a little, but I really don't think you need to just yet. It is still way to early. Have some tea and soak in a lavender bath and get some rest and give it another week, you'll see. K.

:D see THIS is why the forum is SO great! Everyone helps you!! Emotionally, mentally...sigh... so I guess I should do the physically part myself;)
Thanks so much !!
I'm having horrid days at work with everyone looking at me like I have the plague or a "heart attack waiting to happen".
I know that getting the weight off is a slow process but darn, couln't my clothes drop off sooner?? (seriously considering buying something 3 sizes to big and wearing it to work - just to see their jaws drop:lol: )
No...but seriously... I guess... I'll just have to go on as i have for the past week... with my chins up:lol:

maybe that's why I'm not losing weight! I consume close to 2500 cals a day!! taking all the bacon and butter i'm using!!
Maybe if I grill more and use butter for just sauté veggie it may help?
I am definately off bacon! But I guess sausages are ok? ..or??
If I stick to eggs. veggies and chicken and fish - I'm assuming i'd lose weight faster...
Maybe then i can afford some cream and some cheese...any ideas??
Meg_S
Thu, May-18-06, 05:35
some people will say 2500 cals are ok but you ARE pretty small!! I'm 7 inches taller and can't lose eating that much unless it's ONLY meat and fat and nothing else.
Sausages are fine, but again extremely high caloric - so like, 2 for breakfast rather than the more satisfying 6 or 7 :)
The problem is processed meats (bacon, sausage) as a staple food is that they are tasty, easy to eat large amounts and extremely high in calories. It's hard to overeat chickenbreast, fish or steak (yeah you don't eat red meat), but not hard to down a day's worth of calories in a meal that includes bacon.
