I have a carnation instant breakfast for the carb conscious- it says 0 sugar carbs added
then i look at the back and see 12 gram of carbohydrates- is that misleading
then it says 4% under the column with one packet, and 8% under the columen with 1 cup fat free milk.
does this mean the carbs are only in the milk?
I'm on the South Beach diet

subtract the fiber and alcohol sugars from the carbs
and probally the pack of powder is 4 and with milk is 4
I buy Hood low carb choc milk and it is only about 6 for 8 oz,
i sure miss the orange drink though... they come in with the low carb stuff just as fast as they discontine it ... geez
i am low carbing and eat some of south beach low carb frozen dinners because I am single and home alone... lol
good luck to ya dear

Hi Sara!! Welcome to SBD!! :D
Ive been on this food plan for the past 2 years and am still not eating their preprepared foods....they are loaded with salt and sugar and not the best choice in general but good for emergencies.
Being that we don't count carbs on SBD, we follow the meal plan charts and pick foods from the approved updated food lists that you can find pinned at the top of this forum.
Your question about the milk is a good one if we counted carbs....but we don't...we are told to drink skim or reduced fat milk. If you want to use the Carnation drink for breakfast, use the one made without any sugar and use a reduced fat (1 or 2 % ) or skim milk.
Good Luck!! :D
