Burger king low carb chicken whopper sandwich !! it is suppose to be only
160 calories. can this really be true!!!!
also they dont specify whether thats with buns or without.
but 160 is very low and i just dont see the down side to this.

Haven't heard of that sandwich here in Florida yet. But, as is the problem with a lot of fast food, be real careful about the sodium content or whatever they marinade the chicken breast in.
Have you checked the Burger King website? Maybe there's some info there on it.
My favorite at Burger King is a plain double cheesebuger, and I just pull all the bun away as I go. Tastes yummy.

I prefer to grill a couple burgers and a couple chicken breasts on Sunday to eat the rest of the week. It's a lot safer, since I know what seasonings I am using on them!

I googled this item and found that it is only 3 grams of carbs, but I couldn't find out if it is bunless! I am thinking it must be, although can you call it a Whopper then?

im quite sure its bunless.
For awhile the bk's here were selling "low carb whoppers" (not chicken..beef)...i ordered one once.. all it was was a hamburger Patty with lettuce and tomato in a container..i was "irked" because no MAYO was on it..i was thinking.."DUH" why would you take the MAYO off a low carb whopper..regular whoppers have mayo!! duh on BK!!

Wonder how many carbs are in a big mac with no bun? ;) I have been having a big mac craving for the past month lol

According to the McDonald's "Bag a McMeal" (http://app.mcdonalds.com/bagamcmeal), a big mac without the bun has 7g carbs with 1g fiber.

South Beach I am not too sure about. But, with Atkins, I'd say probably not because there is probably loads of sugar in that Mac special sauce!

Does it make you wonder what is in the 100% beef patty that gives it carbs? I mean just the patty on a Big Mac has one carb. A Quarter Pounder patty has two carbs. That is not 100% beef, there is something else in it.

I get low carb whoopers at our local Burger King quite often.Ask for a low carb single or double etc whichever you want. Our Burger King has a special with 2 single whoppers and fries and 2 drinks for $5.99.You can't beat that deal.I order it for me and my hubby but I tell them I want low carb for one of them. They will put on my low carb burger in the box whatever I want on it.I always say no onion but add the cheese.I don't eat the fries.I take them home for my dog and of course I have a diet soda to drink. The low carb whopper sans the bun is very filling for me.Another thing I do is ask for ranch dressing.I eat the burger with the lettuce and tomato on top with a fork and add a little Ranch dressing...yummy.I tell the workers that I eat it as a salad since they wonder when I ask for the Ranch dressing, lol. Our local Burger King is very accomodating.

I rarely go to Burger King, this might give me a reason to go now.

Looks like Bk is pretty low carb accomidating. They even have a link on their website for low carb tips. If you order anything without the bun, it comes in a dish. Here is a link.....

I have found those 'beef patties' have way too much sodium added by my taste-- steer way clear. Egg MacMuffin would be a better choice-- toss half the muffin and add black pepper to the egg.

ACK!! Why in the world would you want to keep your calories UNDER 1000!! You should be eating way more than 1000 calories a day! Low carb isn't about calories, it's about carbs!!

Tim, I can answer the SB question for you. I hate to be a party pooper, but burgers in general are out. They are too high in sodium and fat. But grilled chicken would be your best bet if you absolutely have to have something from a fast food place :)

Please help, what are your LC favorite fast food choices? I am always on the go, travel everywhere, need to go to applebees, burgerking, wendys, McDs and KFC sometimes, have no idea whats safe there?

on atkins the LC option at burger king works, get a double whopper , they serve it in a bowl with lettuce, no bun., or a grilled chicken, both are good choices, also i get the grilled chicken salads at both burgerking and mcdonalds, i usually take my own lc dressing with, if not, ranch is usually ok.

That is not actually true. There are plans (Atkins, for example) which are merely about carbs and not calories, but many low carb plans DO involve caloric restriction. There are many people out there who must restrict calories in order to lose fat. 1000 calories per day can be suitable for certain people.

Cutting back to 1000 calories a day is pretty drastic, and should only be used if you just want to lose a few pounds quickly, or feel the need to kick-start a longer term weight loss plan.

Even so, it's not a good idea to stick to such dramatic calorie restriction for more than a week. Not just because you'll be short of essential nutrients, but on a diet of just 1000 calories a day - your body will be convinced it's in the middle of a famine if you keep it up for long.

This means it will slow down, in order to hold on to every calorie for as long as possible... not helpful when what you really want when you're trying to lose weight is a lively, active body burning up the calories as fast as possible.

That's why health professionals recommend aiming for a weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week, and keeping active when you're on a diet - pushing your body into starvation mode is counterproductive.

Re: 1000 Calories--Safe???

I'm an exercise physiologist not a nutritionist but here's my advice!!!! 1000 cal. per day is way too little!!!! Your body needs that much just keep you alive (if you were lying down, not moving all day!!!) Your body probably thinks you are starving and is slowing your metabolism by reducing the size of your muscle mass. It does this so the calories you eat will be used to fuel you heart and brain etc... so won't keel over!!! And defintely don't do the 1200/800 thing!!! 800 cal. is way too little! If I were you i would seek the advice of a liscenced nutritionist once or twice just to get an accurate idea of what and how much you should be eating! Treat yourself, and it is an investment in your health!!! Eating too little you are probably not getting the vitamins, minerals, and calcium you need. You could be putting yourself at risk for developing osteoporosis (common in small slight women), and you are most likely totally messing up your metabolism. get some reputable advice from a professional. (the only person that can legally give nutritional advice is a liscenced nutritionist, so don't fall for bogus advice given by lay-people and personal trainers!!!). Good luck.

This isn't really the right thread to debate this... 1000 calories is drastic, but I maintain that there ARE ways where it is safe and effective even longer term to eat that way. According to some experts (Lyle McDonald I believe is one), even in starvation the metabolism will not slow beyond 30%. 1000 calories, LOW CARB is far from starvation, it is a deficit and will produce weight loss for people that cannot lose weight on higher calories. Yes, is is contrary to ATKINS principles but caloric restriction has it's place.
