i have found a site that has some low carb products and is going to get more. I assume it is a new site as it only has 12 members.

i think if they know how much demand for low carb products there is here then they may get alot more.

maybe they have some pull with the other low carb shopping sites and could get some american products for us!!

it is at www.pictureofhealth.com.au

Thanks for pointing me to this site-it is really good . As well as selling products it has a forum where you can ask questions about the low carb lifestyle. By the way if you havent tried it the shake they have on their Home page EAS is good I use it a lot. Even nicer with yogurt blended in.

i am hoping the word will spread and they may get some more members. it must be disheartening after a year to only have 12....

thanks Kay, you are doing great, you are going to be a teeny tiny little thing soon arent ya!!

i am no expert but here is the list of what i take
i get shocking water retention and the Blackmores Potassium Compound 2x per day has helped so much( i cant tell you how much, put it this way, i dont have to take fibre anymore)

to stop sugar cravings and all the stuff that goes along with it

Sucro-balance by Natures Own
L-glutamine by Natures OWn

and when i can stomach it vit b complex
spiralina
but the taste of the last 2 makes me sick but i try to get em down once a week
figure its better than nothing

i want to try some of that caratine with what ever it was that was on the site, but it is a little too expensive for me right after christmas. The visa is in total overload!!

Thank You so Much Sammiejam for posting your supplements, I'm going to get some potassium next week for sure, as I have fluid retention real bad some days and not to gross you out too much, my loo habits have done a complete reversal, and I sure could use some help in that department
That's great news from the site  I did have a quick look at it last night, but ran out of time, so will definately look again.

Bye for now

so glad to help

yep you will notice startling developments in the frequency of loo habits, ( me trying to be delicate) within a couple of days of taking the potassuim

i think it is the hot weather that causes the water retention, mine is improving slowly but surely though.

donot not read further if you are squeemish.... the motions will not be brick-like either..... how nicely put

Hi all

Just thought I'd let you know that you can buy Atkins Bake Mix, Atkins Advantage Bars, chocolate and hazelnut syrup and Shake Mixes from GNC stores in Sydney and Melbourne. I live in Canberra but came across a worldwide list of GNC stores while I was trying to find low-carb products in Australia. Hadn't heard of them before. Anyways, I rang the GNC store up in Parramatta Westfield and he had stock in and advised that GNC are the only ones in Australia that stock Atkins products.

I was planning on going up to Sydney anyway, so I called in to the Parramatta store, the Manager a guy called Mark was really helpful and they will take over the phone credit card orders. Be warned though, because of the Aussie dollar etc they are very expensive - $49.95 for shake mixes, $29.95 for bake mix and the bars were $5.95 each. I got a couple just to try but found that I cut one bar into three and just used it as a snack. Don't know that I would bother buying them that often.

I will call them straight away!

thanks so much for that. Maybe we can pressure them into getting more stuff.

did you know that in the readers recipe section there is a couple of recipes for bake mix.

i am trying to make one that has almond meal and glutin flour instead of soy flour as i dont like the taste of soy

keep an eye out for it in the recipe area as i will post it when i have perfected it.

How did you go with ordering the Atkins stuff?? I am still to try the bake mix, just got too busy this weekend. Was too hot today to do much at all.

Yeah, I have been searching through the recipe pages. There are some really good ones. Tried the mock danish for breaky, quite yummy, sort of like a baked cheesecake without the case and tonight I did beef strips in green curry paste and coconut cream.... really delish...

Am off to start my first journal.

yep gave them a call and got some bread mix.

did not like it at all. I wont be gettingt that again.
I get protein bars at www.pictureofhealth.com.au and they are really, really good. The coconut tastes just like a bounty bar!

they are getting together a starter pack of low carb goodies that people can have on induction, i am going to get one. THey are not avalible just yet as they are waiting for some stuff to arrive from the states, but as soon as they are, i'm in. It is much cheaper than the atkins as well.

i will drop into your diary, they are a really good way to keep track of yourself, so keep up the good work maz!!!

Hi,

Glad you found the Atkins products. I live about 10 minutes from Parramatta, so will check this out next time I go in there. Do you think the products were worth the expense?

to be honest ... no

i didnt like the bake-mix at all and at www.pictureofhealth.com.au you can get the bars for way cheaper.

there is going to be alot more product there really soon.

i really thought that the bake-mix was gross but if you dont mind soyflour it may be ok.

what did you think Maz?? have you tried it yet?

Great that you're all finding stuff available in OZ. Similar (and more) low carb stuff can also be shipped relatively cheaply from NZ now. Click on my profile for more details if you're interested.

Hi Sammiejam and susanrnz

Yeah, I must admit that I also don't go much on the taste of the Atkins Bake Mix. The best result I have had so far was making some chocolate/peanut butter muffins. They weren't too bad. I tried making one of the break recipes and it was disgusting.

I have tried without success in Canberra to find loc-carb bread. Every health shop owner has looked at me like I'm from another planet. Anyway, I have sourced some on the net from Bodhi's bakery in Perth, Western Australia of all places. They have a loaf called "Lo-carbo" which works out to be around 7gm carbs per slice. I spoke to them and they will ship 4 loaves, vacuum packed for $25 including freight anywhere in Australia. They said it will keep for 10 days in the fridge or up to 3 months frozen. So I'm going to order some next week to try. You can email them or call if interested. I figure I won't use it every day, but a slice of toast for breaky every other day would be wonderful....
