Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to share with you how thrilled I am with the Atkins programme so far. I started back in in early December and then over Christmas coudn't resist my mums chocolate fudge or Mrs Fields cookies and needed to start again. I started on the 27th of December (only 3 days left of induction) and my weight is steadily going down :)
I am amazed as I haven't been able to do very much exercise at all (I have a gammy foot at the moment) but I have been pretty strict about the diet. Last time I did induction I had far too many LC sweets and chocolates and I did find that they impacted my weight loss.
Some days the scales go up (yes, I am a compulsive weigher) but they always seem to go down again after a few days, often in leaps and bounds. Although my loss has been smallish people are starting to comment on it - YAY. I have never been hungry and am learning to deal with my cravings (I find diet lemonade a really good way to deal with sweet cravings).
Anyway, I just wanted to share how excited I am with everyone. I hope you are finding success too
Cheers
Melsa
PS. The 'ex' has asked me out to dinner and I am plan to go and look GORGEOUS! Not only will my existing weight loss help with the plan but I will also feel so much more confident ! Love it!

there is nothing like rubbing the ex's nose in it to boost the confidance. He will probibly fall to his knees and beg forgiveness when he sees you.
you are doing so well to have lost that much in such a little amount of time espec. when you dont have that much to lose!!
have you got a diary?
i like diet lemonade too.
especially with home made vanilla icecream in it on a hot day.
this woe is the BEST no doubt about it!

Hi SammieJam,
No I haven't started a diary, maybe I should? I have been too scared of sweet food to try that kind of delicious sounding drink you mentioned, maybe in a week or two.
I use to drink lots of diet coke but have cut that right back because of the effect caffeine can supposedly have on the system. This is why I switched to Schwepps diet lemonade. Do you have any idea what this is sweetened with? I am trying to avoid aspartime (951).
What snacks are you having? Anything yummy?
Cheers

PS. I just popped out to but a new pair of shoes for dinner, they are fabulous! Funny thing is I haven't even decided 100% if I am going to go. Oh well, a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes :daze:

You are doing GREAT!
It is wonderful when you can find a way of eating that makes you feel so good, and loses pounds as a result!
I'm sure the summer has a lot to do with water retention. My friends here (including SammieJam :D ) have got me onto potassium, which Is really helping.
A journal really helps. If you check the codes on the lemonade bottle it will tell you what sweetener is used.
This website will help you determine what sweetener it is based on the code that they list against the AS.

Yahooo.. isn't it great it is raining!!
I'm envious about the shoes.. I have large feet, 10 1/2 wide. Its hard for me to find shoes, but i think if I had perfect size ten feet I would need another apartment with a 3rd bedroom.
I'm wondering, will my feet lose weight too? maybe I will drop a size?
Here is hoping

Hi Kim,
Yay for the rain! The thunder was so loud at about 4 this morning it woke me up, here's hoping it helps the firemen/women get it all under contorl (I can't believe how long it has gone on for).
I checked the website (thanks for that) and found this
952 Calcium cyclamte and sodium cyclamate
I have NO IDEA what that means, at least its not aspartime??
I know what you mean about the apartment for shoes, this is the 3rd pair I have bought since Saturday ( I am turning into Imelda in front of my own eyes!). It's ironic because I bought 2 flatish pairs of work shoes, very hard to find nice professional looking ones, on Saturday because my doctor told me to stop wearing high heels and then bought very high, strappy shoes today for dinner with the 'ex'. Oh well, beauty is pain!
Cheers

i have a diary and it is great. People give you alot of support and you can see your food patterns. If you stall then it makes it easier to figure out what caused it.
and do i have snacks for you!!
cheesecake squares
pizza (made with kavli crackers as a base)
pate on pork rinds
mock danish
buffalo chicken wings
tiramisu flavor cheese on strawbs
raspberries and cream
cabbage with bacon(fried in butter- devine)
turnip fries
mushrooms in sourcream sauce
mini doughnuts (made with glutin flour and cottees strawb conserve in the middle)
there is more. If you need recipes for any of the above let me know.
no such thing as to rich, thin or too many shoes.
kim i reckon feet get smaller horizontally.(width ways) I hope so as i have feet like paddles
i ran around in the back yard like a nut last night when that storm started and it began raining. It was 2 am and i thought my kids bunk beds had collapsed with them in it, i was out of bed like a shot, it scared the hell out of me, but it was just a particularily loud and close crack of thunder.
yep the old potassium is a wonderful thing. I am so regular now (is that to much information?) but it totally helps the whole horrible water retention situation.
hope you guys are having a good day

I would love some of these recipes. I find it hard to follow alot of the receipes as they seem to rely on American products etc. The pizza, mini donughts and mock danish sound especially delicious!!
What potassium should I take? How often? I have to admit I haven't taken any of the supplements Dr Atkins recommends (naughty I know). Have you really found they make a difference?

good point
sucro-balance and l-glut. regulate blood sugar and stop cravings,
potassium helps water retention.
i was backed up and bloated as hell(had been for 3 month) til i started taking them.Protein Power book explained how lack of pot. had something to do with insulin and that makes water retention. Cant quite rememberb how it worked. PP is a fab book, a must read. I found atkins a little to scientific to understand. PP explains alot better how insulin works and why it is the number 1 controling hormone in the body. It affects everything.
i will find the recipes for you for the donuts and the other stuff should be in my diary
"sammies diary" under s section at the bootcamp area
off to make baked mini cheesecakes now.

Hi Sammiejam,
I went to the Health Food store and bought Chromium (to stop the sugar cravings) and a natural diuetic with potassium for water retention (which to be honest I don't really know if I have). Here's hoping they work!
I went up 700grs on the scales this morning - hate that!. Hopefully tomorrow it will go back down.
Cheers
