My two favorite bands are playing together here in early July & I'll be 7 months at that time. Here in south central TX July it could already be in the 100's. And to top it off the day their playing is my birthday, I'll be 37 yrs old. Should I go, or would it be a very bad idea? I know it's going to be very hot & more then likely humid too. I've already mentioned it to my husband & some good friends. I've seen Lynyrd Skynyrd 3 x's already but I've never seen 3 Doors Down. All they need now would be Montgomery Gentry to make the perfect concert. Darn those guys couldn't they wait a 3 or 4 months to come here.

You probably should ask your doc. about this. If you will be outside for a long period of time without shade and it will be that hot you probably ought to skip it. I'm in the south too and when I was pregnant I was about 61/2 months in july. I got very hot very easily, almost unbearably so, and the humidy coupled with my compressed lungs made it difficult to breath. If your doc. says it would be ok, and you feel up to it at that time, then sure. you may find that you'd rather skip it by the time you are that far along!

Why was your lungs compressed? Does that happen in most pregnant women?

Where are you from?

I'm from Georgia. I just meant that as your baby grows there's less room for your organs. As they get pushed around your lungs have less room to expand. I guess I should have worded it differently :-) At any rate, this can leave you with a feeling of breathlessness and sometimes it's hard to take a good, deep breath--it's nothing really to worry about. It's just that you may find it uncomfortable to sit outside in the heat and humidity for long periods of time.

OK Thanks. I noticed that I seem to be out of breath easier now then before.

I used to live in Louisiana, it's more humid there then cent. TX , but I think the heat here is worse because over there you have more tall trees that offered protection, here it's real rocky & not as many trees so the heat seems like it beats down on you. Or it could be that I'm older so I notice it more.

At least here on the coast we get a nice sea breeze much of the time. But during the summer it can still feel like you're being roasted alive! You should definately ask your doc before you spend alot of time in the sun this summer. Congrats on your sweet baby girl!

ankka,

i know what you mean about the heat coupled with nice breezes. I am here on the nc coast. number two for us is due August 1st!!! It's gonna be a long, humid summer for me. Thank god we have lots of shade trees and that ocean breeze when it comes our way!

As far as the concert goes, I say go but just accept the fact you will probably leave early. We are going to a Dylan concert this May and I will be about the same, but it won't be that hot yet. I want number two to hear some live Dylan!

Thanks Ankka. I'll definetly ask the DR. The concert is in Selma which is outside of San Antonio I live couple towns to the NE, least where I live up on a hill , it get's breezy there too but it's a hot breeze in summertime.

Jessmama, let me know how you did at the concert. This is my first so I'm not sure what to expected but I remember friend that were pregnant in the summer time seemed to be kind of grumpy.

omg, hahah if you still want to at the time........ IF YOU STILL WANT TO Bring a big umbrella for shade, a fence so people don't bump into you (no, they dont' care that you're pregnant.. I learned that), and a cooler of ice to help you out.

Oh, I forgot another important thing! What will the bathroom situation be at the concert? When I was that far along I had to go like every 30 minutes. Walking a long way to a restroom and then waiting in line would not have been a good experience. Just something to consider...

Oh those are two things I didn't even think about.

omg GOod point!! I didn't even remember that bit. Ugh, walking and standing suck when you're pregnant. Ugh, and trying to hover above those rank portapotty seats may make you pass out with your sensitive preggo nose.

while i was expecting my first(very very long ago]i went to see Lynyrd Skynyrd , it was so long ago the other bands were Peter Frampton and the opening band was J Geils, lol the concert was at JFK stadium in Philly, I don't think the place is there anymore, and my son is married with two kids of his own. I do remember being hot, having to drink a lot of fluids, and spending a lot of time going to pee,lol but it was fun. I was pretty pregnant, too, my son was born august 24th, he wasn't due till the end of september though. I am glad he didn't come at the concert, lol

I went to a concert when I was 35 weeks pregnant with twins, it was quite hot and uncomfortable, but it was so worth it! You have to take PLENTY of water and a sun shade or at least a big hat so that you don't get overheated, but the water is the most important thing.
I think it won't do you any harm to go if you take some precautions! Enjoy yourself!

Heheh yeah, don't mind me and my negativity. I was a pretty antisocial pregnant lady!

Well, I guess in retrospect I was pretty antisocial myself! After what foxgluvs said--throw my advice out the window lol :-) 35 weeks with twins at an outdoor concert..all I can say is wow!

I don't know about this concert, but I was just outside for a few mins. & my back porch tempt was 95 degrees & early driving past the bank it said 99 degrees. And it was hot as hell out there & after being out there for few mins I was already sweating.

BTW Liddie, this is a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert too but this time their with 3 Doors Down which is another one of my favorite groups. Thanks God Montgomery Gentry isn't going to be with them because I'd kill to see all 3 of them to togther, just kiddin.

I heard that dehydration can cause you to go into premature labor. This concert is at the Verizon theatre, they only allow you to bring in one 20 oz water bottle. They do have water fountains but the water that comes out is usually pretty hot on a hot day like that , they sell small water bottles for $2.50 which is pretty high price for bottle water if you ask me. I'm not sure if they have Gatorade, I've seen it at the first aid stations before but I'm not sure if this place has one.

I know, I am old, I saw them before the plane crash, lol

Liddie, you ain't old, being old is a state of mind. I wished I could have seen them before the crash but the crash happened when I was 8 yrs old & the town that we were living at was a couple hours from the nearest place big enough for rock concert. So my 1st rock concert was in the mid 80's right after we moved to TX, & I snooked to it behind my mama's back. It was a AC/DC & my parents said no.
Well I know what I got to look forward to.
