Hi all,
Overweight is as much a mind thing as a health thing, I know. Even when I'm close to my goal weight, I always feel 'fat'.
Many larger/taller people tell me I don't need to loose weight, but it is only because I have a small build, barely over 5 ft tall. My healthy goal is between 115 - 118. When I weighed 145 I was 30% overweight! Looked like a short round blob! Not to mention it was affecting my health and my ability to be active.
Anyone out there petite and trying to get below 120 :q:
Would love to share.

Hi Dinky!
I am in a similar boat a you...although I have a little more to lose than you do! That's okay, I'll get there!
I am about 5'4", and am going for under 120....I have been on the LC diet before but have not stuck with it long enough to reach my goal....not this time though!
I have a baby face :baby: and am pretty curvy, so the extra pounds haven't been to much of a problem, but this past year I've gainned about 15, so I am ready to finally get back to being thin.
Keep me updated on how things are going....I am just starting up again today, so it will be about a week before I start dropping much. Anyone else out there going through the same stuff?!
Look forward to hearing from y'all!

Hi,
I'm 5'3" and currently 162 lbs. I got down to 145 on Atkins last year. Now back and determined to get down to 125. Stay for a while, and then see if I can get to 120. Good luck.

Hello girls,
I know what you mean about weight and being short. I am 5'3".
At the moment I weigh 185 lbs. I have had two strokes and recover and now I plan to go for my goal as 115 lbs. and I am staying their the rest of my life. I feel better at that weight. I am the shortest of my siblings but I was placed with a medium frame.
I didn't start to gain weight until I was 42 and then it came fast. It seems like it was overnight. So now I losing for my health and I want to find clothes that I don't have to hem.
Have a great lo carb day!!!!!!

Hi gals! (Donna J I sent you a pm)
Yes it's hard to be petite. I'm trying to get down to 125, but I'd really like to be 118. At 45 some people say that's an unreasonable weight. I'm 5'3", medium frame, and carry all my weight on my belly. My legs are very slender, and in order to get the belly flab I'd have to go below 125 I'm sure. What do you think?
How did you do on induction? I'm on day 3 now and have lost 4lbs. I know it's water, but hey, I'll take whatever I can get. In one of the books Atkins or Zone, they say that 6lbs of body fat is equal to 1 gallon in volume. On our small frames that is a lot of weight. Even a 6lb loss people notice. That's the upside!!
Good luck to you all and keep the faith.
Ruby.

Thanks for all the feedback.
Ruby, you're absolutely right about even a little bit makes a big difference on my short bod. Every ten lbs puts me into the next size. Two years ago, I lost about 30 lbs and everyone told me I looked like I lost at least fifty. I know they meant that in the best way, but I was shocked that they thought I was that heavy to start with.
I think at 5.3 you would look great at 125. I know it's a good healthy weight.
I did great the first 5 days also. I know it's just water, but it feels so great to get that little boost when you start.
Good luck to all, would love to hear all your progress.

Hi everyone. I am also petit. I am 5' 1" and currently 154lbs. Believe me I am not happy with the way I look. I look back at pictures from high school when I thought I was fat. I would do anything to look like that again. I just was glad to see we are not alone. Good luck and keep motivated> :)

I know what you mean about high school pictures. I thought I was fat and now I wish I was back at 115lbs again.
But we are here together and we can make all our goals comes true with encouragement and hard work.
I was reading through journal and they really give the courage to go on. Have you start your journal yet?

Hi Donna-
I haven't started a journal yet in regards to the diet. However I have kept a journal for years now. It's very interesting to go back and read it. Most of the time I only right in it when I am having a bad day.
How long have you been on the program. I started 5 weeks ago. At times it feels so slow. I just want to wake up one morning and be thin.
Good Luck and keep up the good work.

HI Danielle,
This is my second time on Atkins. I have had two strokes and just now found a doctor that believe lo carb won't kill me.
I reached my goal before have the stroke and then was placed on low cal/ low fat diet and I blossomed to 192 again. I have been on induction for 10 days now and already seeing results in inches and energy. I know it seems so but if I can reach goal the first time I know we both can reach it now.
I write in my journal every day. It helps me to keep focus on what I am doing. But keep the faith and believe me it well melt off soon.

Have you started a journal yet? It will help you allot . I put everything that I eat and the water amount and also I record anything that has happen to me. It has helped allot. You can also read other people journal's and it will give you ideas on what to expect. Welcome again and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for joining us. Yes, you can do this! I know that after the first couple weeks on Atkins, I loose my cravings for sweets for the most part. It's the best diet to be able to eat a healthy selecton of foods and continue to loose weight steadily.
Set yourself mini goals and reward yourself each time you reach one. Last time for me it was every 5 lbs. Then I said ' that wasn't so hard - I can loose 5 more now'. It's not so overwhelming that way. After the first month, I really didn't think of it as a diet, just a different WOE.
Please keep us informed, we all want to hear how you're doing. :)

Goodmorning Dinky,
Your right at rewarding yourself after reaching a goal. I also keep my goals around 5 lbs. It is easier and you don't get discoraged so easy. What type of rewards do you give yourself?
I give myself a new book or a new article of clothes.
Well everyone have a great lo carb day. I have to get started. I have a big day.

Wed, Jan-09-02, 20:44
yes - books and clothes are two of my favorites also. I have so many books, it would take me a year to catch up on my reading. The closer I get to my goal the more fun the clothes become. Also, little things like a lipstick, bath and body works. Anything that's just for me.
Unfortunately, I haven't earned any reward yet this week. I've been sticking to the plan, but it's very slow at this point.

Hi there,
I am 5'3" tall w/ a medium frame. I am working on getting back into my size 5 clothes that I used to wear before having my first child at the age of 27. That was 11 years ago but I had maintained a weight of 110 - 115 lbs for about nine years before that first child.
Having kids really put me out of whack and now that I have four children and am finished I see no reason why I cannot have my old body back. Well sort of, with all the pregnancy battle scars an' all.
I can get my old size five pants on and at 115 lbs I can zip them up I just can't sit down in them! Seems I have developed a bit of a pear shape from all those little kidlets.
Am working hard on not only losing the weight but also exercising to try and ensure that I am mostly lean weight which contributes to looking good (changing that pear to a more lean silhouette) as well as feeling good at a particular weight.

Dinky,

Have a good lo carb morning.

Hi Dinky! I'm pretty little, too, only 5'2". When I got married I weighed 107 (and that was AFTER a child). The day my daughter was born four years ago I weighed 145. So basically, I'm birth-giving weight today, ugh!
I want to get down to at least 115 but would be pleasantly surprised to see 110. Don't sweat your friends, Dinky, they mean well. I know that often without meaning to be I'm secretly shocked to find out a girlfriend (who's not fat) weigh 180. She's also almost six feet tall! You see? Height has ALOT to do with it. :)

Fri, Jan-11-02, 20:23
Friday again. Did pretty good this week - but only lost 1 lb. That's still progress.
You're absolutely right about the 'baby weight'. I held my weight at 107-112 til I was 26 and had my first child. When I delivered the 2nd child I weighed in a 154. Talk about short and round
Ever since it seems like my body battles against me to keep all those baby lbs off. But I'm winning.
HOMEGIRL -- you are doing fantastic. You must feel just great. I'm right behind you :daze:
I have a very hard time getting in more exercise. I work long hours at work and am exhausted when I get home. I walk a few miles a week, that's about it. I have an elliptical trainer, but I'm not very faithful at using it.
Now just gotta get through another weekend and maintain my 1 lb loss ! Good luck ladies.

Good afternoon,
Hope everyone is doing fine? I had to slow down on eating pork rinds. I didn't gain but I am swollen. Drinking more water to day to try to flush it out. I have something to report. I love my long jumper but now they either have to be given to my clothes pantry or I will hem them. They are down to the ground. :D
That means I am losing my big breast  . Maybe my back will quit hurting. Well girls I am proud of you both and I know that we well be small and petite again soon.

It's also important to remember that the number on the scale isn't what defines a healthy weight. I'm 5'4" and a healthy weight for me (on my large frame) is around 145, below that and people start commenting that I look TOO thin (that's never been a problem with me)! It was also hard for me growing up, because my mother is about my height, but very fine boned and she weighed about 112. Hang in there and find a weight that's easy to maintain!

Hi Dinky,
Even though I don't fit into the petite category height wise I understand exactly what you mean about the way people react to the news of your dieting. I am very small boned and tend to gain weight in the breast, hip area first. It is so frustrating when I explain to people that yeah with clothes on I don't look so overweight cause I look about the same size as the average boned person but with my clothes off I have cellulite, sag, and about 20 more pounds of weight than I should. Of course in the last 6 months or so I've gained enough that it shows through my clothes and in my face so people don't argue with me :D Anyhow...I'm glad to see there are other people in this boat and I wish you all happy low-carbing!

I just hate Mondays. I have to drag myself out of bed to start another week. But it's over now, and that's great. Was all puffy feeling this morning, but the scales held steady. I think it was too much salt over the weekend. Restaraunt food is always saltier.
Animaldoc is right about finding the weight that's right for you. I look and feel great between 115-120. And when I stay off the carbs/sugar, I settle in there and eat a healthy amount of food.
Loosing extra pounds is not just a vanity thing, it's a quality of life thing. Live longer, feel better, be around and still be energetic when the grandkids need you.
I am so proud of myself when I'm eating right and maintaining my weight. So the question I always ask myself is - why do I ever fall off the wagon and get hooked on the carbs in the first place? Any armchair psychologists out there have the answer??

This is a thread I can certainly relate to, great to see some other petite low-carbers out there. It's so frustrating when people scoff at my 10 pound weight loss goal and say 10 pounds is nothing compared to what some people are aiming for. On a small frame like mine, 10 extra pounds makes a huge difference and I just look puffed up and unhealthy. What a relief to see I'm not the only one that has this problem.

Bonjour petites!!!
I'm on last day of induction today (Day 14) and down to 153 from 162. I know this is probably mostly water weight right? Anyway, I'm thinking of keeping on inductionf or another two weeks -- if I can manage it. It is rather ruthless. Hope you're all doing well.
Take care

I have been reading your posts for the past couple of days and figured I should join up with the petites. I posted down below a few days ago,but haven't heard from anyone. I am 5'2 and want to get back down to at least 125. 77 lbs seems like an eternity right now. Of course a week and a half ago, I didn't think 8 lbs would come off like they have. I too look at pics from high school, even when I was first married(140) and wish I was that way again. I can't believe I actually thought I was really fat!!! You all sound like you are doing great. I know it will continue to work for you. I have a question-what exercising are you doing? I hear that strength training is the way to go. What works for all of you? Thanks for listening-
Natalie :)

Congratulation Ruby and Nat on your weight lost. Ruby, I know I weigh 105 when I meet my husband and I have a picture of my on our 25th anniversity and I was dump struck. I could believe the weight. But that is the past, and we petite ladies may be short but we our tall on determination. And I am proud of all of us.
Nat, I walk a mile every day and when the weather gets better I am going to up it to about 5 but gradually. I think it important to move and exercise.
Mags, Welcome and I know what you mean about a small amount of weight makes us twice as big. But you well lose it and we our here for you.
Well girlfriends, I haven't felt good today and I am going to bed.
I hope you all a very blessed evening.

It is so great to hear from you all. And wecome to our newest petite friends. You are all doing absolutely great.
Natalie - don't think for a minute that you can't loose the weight you need to loose. Never focus on a number that seems overwhelming. Focus on 10 lb goals at a time. Just focus on that 10 lbs and no more. Look how far you've come already :)
Each time you reach that 10 lbs goal - congratulate yourself - and we will help cheer you on. Then think about how the time went pretty quick for that last then pounds, you didn't really miss any of that bad food, and you feel so much better - and so proud of yoursef - you will be eager to try for the next ten.
It may be your end goal changes along the way. When you reach a point where you feel healthy and happy with the way you look, then you may decide to hold there for a while and assess if you want to go further.
DonnaJ - you doing great. Hope you feel better tomorrow. I mostly walk for exercise also. I really enjoy walking and generally despise most exercises. I used to like to dance - but that was another lifetime. :D
Ruby - yes you can stay on induction another 2 weeks, but maybe you should at least add some new vegies or some moderate 'treat'. You don't have to deprive yourself on the WOE to succeed. Just don't allow yourself to start feeling so deprived of things you backslide ;)
Welcome Mags and all my other petite friends. The more the merrier.
I did good this week, and am very content with where I am today.
Oh and I'm sooooo glad it's Friday.

Hi gals,
Just thought I'd pop back in and say hello.
I think any kind of exercise is great if you haven't already been doing something because it all helps. However, after a while, when you begin to get (and see) the benefit of exercise it makes you want to keep it up. Believe me, I have never been sports minded or been one of those who love working out.
I have never lifted weights before in my life but I started back in November because I got all fired up about Nat's (Natrushka) Body For Life program and also because I had been reading about all the benefits healthwise (like increasing muscle mass which in turn revs up your metabolism and in turn burns more fat; preventing osteoperosis, toning those muscles so that when the fat disappears there is something good to look at underneath, etc).
The long and short of it is, I have been combining weights and cardio and am seeing a lot of changes in my body shape. Very good, positive changes. And I feel more confident and stronger. In fact, I am gearing up to do the BFL program myself just to see what a difference a 12 week intense and structured program will do. I am hoping I will get rid of those last pesky 7 lbs and also reduce my body fat %.
In any case, I recommend some form of resistance training to you ladies. It really does make a difference.
See ya!

I am jealous of you all and your size 5's! I maybe could have worn a 5 when I was 7...maybe.
I am trying to get back into an 11, the smallest size I ever wore at 135 lbs. And That for me will be great. At 135 I was not fat, you could see my ribs(something I have not seen for awhile but am begining to feel again at least).
So I have come to the realization I will never be a size 5 even at 5'2 1/2(that 1/2 is very imortant!)My body is just not built that way, And for once I am OK with that.

Exactly! No matter how tall we are, there are many different body types and bone sizes so it's not what actual size we are in comparison to everyone else . It's all about being the best you can be for your height, body type and bone structure.
I happen to have a friend who is very tiny. Even though she's had three kids, she often has to buy girls sizes in clothes. I don't envy her for her size, I envy her for the foresight to keep herself in shape during those childbearing/raising years so that her body didn't go all to pot like mine did! I don't want to be her size, I just want to be vibrant, slim again and healthy as well!
Good luck on your own journey.
P.S. I am not able to wear those size 5's. Yet. Almost there--can't breathe when they are on :D
P.P.S. Even though my friend is in great shape she carries the same old battle scars the rest of us do--stretch marks and lines of age, etc so no one is immune to life and the aging process. No one

 Hello to all the petite Ladies.
I am new here and hopefully I will get support from yall since we all fit the same category. I am going to start the induction phase of my journey to get back to my petite size. ;)
I was reading all yall's thread and could relate about being petite. I thought for a very long time that I had a small frame but a friend of mine and a doctor told me that I could tell my body frame by the size of my wrist, I found this chart a while back on body frames on how to detect our frame size so I measured my wrist and the chart indicated that I was a petite frame. Of course I loved the idea about being petite but what I don't like is that when us petite/small framed ladies gains 10 pounds it looks as if we or I gained 20 pounds.
I been chubby for a very long time now, all the woman in my mom side of the family is very petite. I am 5'3 and my regular weight should be 110-115. I have lost weight in the past and the smallest I have been is 125lbs at that time I was wearing a size 5, yeah that was a nice size but the problem was I had a belly, I knew I should of lost some more weight but I never made it, I started gaining again. Of course when you on a low fat/cal diet that tend to happen when you try to eat normally again, and not to say the terrible hunger pain you get after awhile. So now I am trying the Low Carb way and hopefully it will works for me and I won't have to worry about another diet plan again. My goal is to reach 120 than see how it is if I need to loose another 5 than I will. I wish all yall the best of luck and WE SHOULD KEEP THIS THREAD GOING FOR THE SUPPORT. :spin:

Hey I know how all the short people feel... I'm 4ft 11in and weight 125 and I really need to get down to about 105 and I just get discouraged with the fact that I've always been chunky I'm glad there are others who understand about it because tall people don't...

Hi everyone, my name is Kristie and I am on day 8 of induction on Atkin's. I am 5'2 and am trying to reach a goal of 110. I don't have much to lose but I know what it is like to carry weight on such a petite frame. I weighed 160ish when I delievered my daughter 2.5 years ago and 180 when I deliverd my son within 11 mos. of my daughter  , talk about a strain on my body! I have also had a hernia repair operation in the past which shows what carrying around even a little weight will do to you.
I am currently at 116 because I've lost 4 lbs in induction and have 11 more to goal. This is a new, healthy WOL for me and I am excited about it!! I want to reach my goal and maintain forever! :p

How is everyone this evening? Welcome Karen,Homegirl, LilMomma,Mindy and Kristen.
Karen, I know what you mean about feeling your ribs. I am just now starting to feel my own again and it is wonderful :D My husband keeps complimenting on how small my hips are getting.
That is the first place I lose. I wish it was my stomach but that well come. I am glad that you joined our thread. :yay:
Homegirl, I feel the same way you do is that it really not how we look( that is great) but being healthy and feeling good. It has been along time since I felt good. But since I have been on this WOE I have started. I am glad that you joined our thread, also. :yay:
LilMoMMa, I glad you joined us :yay: You will see a big difference with this WOE because you are not hungry and it seems like the weight melt off but that is with different individuals. For me I am losing slower but that okay.
Mindy, welcome I am glad you found our thread :yay: My mother was 4'11'' and she was alway 98 lbs until she had us three children. It seems that everything Mom ate she gained. But, I am 5'3" and started in her footsteps. I decided that my health was too important so I started Atkins and this will be my WOL.
Welcome Kristin. I am glad to see you joining our thread. :yay:
I am so glad that more petite ladies have joined. I was surprised to see how many there are but I welcome you and I am here if you need someone to talk too.
Have you all started your journals. It is a good way of keeping feeling and menu and people can see if you need encouragement on what to eat and say HI.
Well ladies, I have dishes but I will email tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening.

Hello all my petite buddies :)
I see the same thing over and over in the posts about the highest weight we reach when we are about to deliver. I read a few years ago, that the weight your body peaks at becomes a set poing, and your body will naturally strive to maintain this weight and go back to this weight. Don't know if it's scientific, but it sure seems true on this bod.
I gained weight in high school, then lost about 25 lbs and stayed comfortably between 105 - 110 for years just eating in moderation. Then the babies came. Peaked at 150 with each one. I know that if I didn't battle the bulge - I would be back at that weight in no time.
Doesn't seem fair does it?
Oh well. If you've got good health, and you can afford good food, then you've really no room to complain, right?
Good night all you petite ladies - have a good, healthy week :)

Hello my petites!!!
Just checking in, welcome all you new ones. This is great, we're all here in one place. My husband picked up a water jug today and he weighed it. 10 lbs. He handed it to me and said, this is what you've lost!!! (I've only lost 9!) I can't imagine I was lugging that around. I still have a belly. My body fat is all on the front. My legs are thing, my thighs aren't big, and my bum's small. Very unhealthy around the mid section they say for heart disease. I have high Blood Pressure, so it's not just a vanity thing. I put on my coat and could get a bulky sweater underneath and still button up????
Anybody have trouble with a double chin? Even when I get to goal weight I have it. What the hell can be done about it. I have friends who weigh more than me, around my size, and in photos I look larger. I look bigger than people who are three times my weight bec ause of it. Do you have any tips? Anyone else have this problem?
Bye bye petites

I have it too. And you're right - even at goal weight I'll still have it. I've always had a 'round' face. It used to make me look younger, and that was good. But now it's starting to droop a little. I think the only way to get rid of it at my age would be a little ' nip and tuck' if you know what I mean.
Who knows, maybe I'll save up some money and go for it next year. Seriously thinking about it :D

Hi Dinky, :agree:
We're around the same age. It used to make me look younger too. Now though, as you say, it sags. I hate it. Maybe lipo? I never thought I'd say this. Maybe it'll be the goal weight reward. I'm afraid of the nip and tuck though? You mean they have to cut and pull?
let me know what you find out.

My body fat is all on the front. I have friends who weigh more than me, around my size, and in photos I look larger. I look bigger than people who are three times my weight because of it.
:( I myself have that same problem ruby, I know females who are the same exact height as I am and weight more than me but I look bigger than them because I carry most of my body fat in the front also besides the fat on my hips and thighs. This is called the apple shape and its the worst way to be, cause us apple shape women are more at risk for diabetes and heart/liver/kidney disease because of the location of the fat.
I'd rather be a pear shape (big hips, small waist) than an apple shape, cause I think that pear shape looks better on a woman! Does anyone agree? And yes being an apple shape is very unhealthy, but I have heard and also read that the best way to loose that midsection is by LCing that is why I am doing the Atkins plan.
I have been doing alot of reading on apple shapes and LCing and found lots of good info. You can look up these information on the internet, I cannot remember where but just look it up and health magazines usually have these types of articles. ;)
Good luck and bye Petite LCers

I also have an apple shape but where I had an hystertomy I have two halves to my apple.
My family has diabetes. I am a diabetic but since Atkins no medication and sugar level are great but it seems that my stomach is the last to leave. Even at my goal weight it is still there.
I looked at my family pictures on both sides and they all have the apple shape except for my aunt and see watches her weight and never gained enough. She was 4'10" and had two children.
Well good buddies have a great day.

I also have the double chin. My mother (she had it, too) called 'chippy face' as in chipmunky. I think surgery would be the only way to get rid of it :( but I'm not that disturbed by it yet.
I haven't managed to get an exercise program going yet but I am going to FORCE myself to get on that treadmill tonight! I usually walk the dog but it's just been too cold - not much snow here but bitter winds.
I don't think I have the faintest hope of getting back into a size 5, after my son was born my hips spread out and that was that! ;) I do plan to wear my 7/8 by summer, though! Take care, everyone!

Hi ladies  . My name is Laurie and I'm petite also. Actually just short! LOL! I'm 5'0. My goal weight is 120 - 125. I've been doing this since September. I just hit the 25 pound mark!!! It's great getting into clothes I haven't worn in years. I'm down 2 pant sizes. I've lost a total of 19 1/2 inches. I measure my hips, waist, thighs, boobs, back, upper arms and calves. 3 1/2 was off my hips and 4 1/4 off my waist! Those are the areas I measure most often. Remember gals.....keep measuring! Sometimes the weight isn't coming off, but those inches still are! That's what amazes me! I would really love to be in a size 9 by summer. Getting back into a 5 or 7 really isn't realistic. But a 9.......I would look great! It will be so nice to be able to shop for clothes in the "normal" size sections!!!!
Keep up the great work

Laurie-It's nice to have you aboard. Congratulations on the loss! You know I was just talking to dh about measurements last night. You have convinced me to measure myself! I know you can reach your goal by summer! I totally agree with being able to be in regular sizes again. I have had it with the "X? sizes!
Dinky-I will keep everyone posted about the 2ns phase of induction. So far so good. Today has gone well. Now if I could just get my baby to get rid of his cold!!!
I hope everyone had a successfull weekend. Let's make it an amazing week! I'm ready to lose another 10 lbs! WOOHOO!
Take care-

That sounds soooo nice!
I'm 5 foot 3. I consider that petite. Of couse, my hieght is petite, but that's about it these days! :p It's hard because the shorter you are, the more those excess pounds show! Of couse, it also shows when you start losing too. There is a plus side to everything.
I would take a size 10 or 12 by summer (probably 12!). I'm wearing a 14 now, but they are very snug 14s! I took my measurements the other day and my waste is exactly 36 inches. That really makes me a size 16. I will NOT be buying any size 16 clothes. I have no choice. Must lose weight AND inches.
4 - 5 more months before I need to get into that bathing suit!

I hear ya Kristi! My waist isn't too bad, 33 1/4", it's my 40 1/2" hips!!!!!! I've gone from a size 20 jeans to a 16. I'll have to soon hit up the second hand store for smaller sizes :) Even when I was little my waist might have been a 3 but my hips were always a 7 or 9  LOL!! But it will be fun instead of depressing shopping for bathing suits this summer :D

I didn't realize how many petite ladies were on this thread! This is great.
Since lots of folks are reading let me give more details. My scale is over (by about 6lbs), so my starting weight and my goal weight are according to this scale. I could buy a new one, but I'm taking the thought that the end results in pounds lost will be the same. I'll eventually have to go back to the regular doctor, and the girl doctor and I can see the real facts (lower numbers) there. 125 on my scale is really a 118 goal. My husband will probably faint if/when I reach it. At this point, the goal isn't set in stone. I'm going to keep going until I feel and look good.
I have a double chin and it's gross. I didn't have it at goal weight. I want it to go away.
Right now, I'm carrying my weight everywhere. The closer I get to goal (I remember from past experiences) the thinner my tummy gets. My weight likes to hang out on my thighs. It just gets all comfy there and won't go away.
This is a great thread for Support. We have quite a bit in common!

Hello to all my fellow petites! Cool, that there are so many of us!
My name is Deanna and I'm 4'10". When I started lowcarb I was 217!! Yikes, that's pretty hefty.
I don't really know what a good goal weight is for my height, but I'm aiming for 120 right now.
Go short people!!

It's been a long Monday and I don't have much to add tonight - just so sleepy I'm headed for bed a little early.
It is so nice to have all you for friends. I look forward to checking in every day to say how everyone is doing and am always surprised to see more join us :D
My mom was 4.10". She was always a little chubby, but managed to keep herself from getting really overweight. Lots of overweight ladies in my family and we've all seen how it can wreck your health at a young age. The good part was, at 5.1" I look tall when I stand next to Mom. She's 71 now and is shorter than before. I can't believe how much she has shrunk in height the last five years. Just one more thing to look foward to
Goodnight ladies - have a Terrific Tuesday.

Wow, I can't believe how this thread is growning. It is really nice to have so many petite power.
Laurie: Congratulation on 25 lbs. and Wow! 19 1/2 inches. You are doing wonderful. I can't wait also to get in a smaller size and be able to shop at normal department again. I have been putting off shopping but my closet is starting to thin out allot because the sizes are too big. :D Welcome to the thread my name is Donna and I am 5'3" and at wearing a size 16.
Hi Natalle, Hope the baby get over his cold. My husband just got over one and there been time I wanted to pull my hair out.
Hi! Kristi, I can't wait to see a size 12 but would love to see a size 10 by summer. I will need the energy from being healthy because we are starting to remodel the house ourselves :D
Deanna, Welcome to the thread.
Well ladies, I just wanted to say how blessed I have been finding this thread and being here with you. You all are my petite  and I am glad we hear to :cheer: each other on.

I was glad to see your size donnaj. I am at 178 myself and can not quite seem to get into that 14 yet. I can zip them, bearly, and I certainly could not wear them out in public! I was glad to see it's not just me. I have started doing sit ups today to try to get rid of this "baby pooch"as I call it( which honestly I had long before my now 5 year old was born.)
I am glad to know I am not alone. I was begining to wounder since after loosing 45 lbs, I am still wearing the same jeans I did when I started, even though they are way to big. They did fit longer than I expected though, which makes me wounder if they were way to small when i started. But I promised myself I would not buy more untill I bought 14s. I measured them and they have a 32 inch waist on them...so I still have about 3 inches to go.

Why is there no size 13? I mean I can't into a 12 comfortably yet but I need a belt for my 14's now and they sort of look silly b/c I wear the baggie style. I must admit baggy jeans are MUCH more flattering when I'm at goal but they're just so comfy, lol!
I still wiegh the same (138) and I forgot to check my measurements this weekend so I'm workin' on faith this week. Have a great tuesday everyone!

Wow!
You know, when we lose weight it's dramatic! 5lbs on us looks like 20. I just lost 9lbs on induction. (Cheated 2 days ago and then the scale went up by 2 lbs. Not going to do that again anytime soon.
BTW, from my 9lb loss my new jeans are all too loose. And I kind of like the fact that they're bagging off my bum. Makes me feel smaller. It's a greaaaaaaaaaaaat feeling. I have a little black dress, a Calvin Klein, I bought 4 years ago and it's been hanging in the closet. By summer I hope to wear it.
I'm just wondering, once the induction is over, what's a reasonable rate of loss? I've heard 2lbs per week. Is that what the rest of you petites are getting? Keep up the good work.
On size 13, in Canada they have it. Liz Claiborne makes a size 13 I'm almost sure.

Hi  to Deanna, Kristi and all the new petites that have joined our little club! It feels so good to know there are others out there that are going through the same thing.
Karen-I have seen you and even though you are still wearing the same pants. You look great!! You should be very proud of what you have accomplished.
I had a rough Monday, but am doing great today. I have noticed I am starting to get a little tired of the basic foods we have been eating. I need to find some new quick recipes to make for lunch. The dinners are all new and exciting.
I wish you all the best of luck on your quest for "regular" sizes for swimsuits. I would be in heaven to be able to wear a 12 by summer, but I don't know. If I get to a 14 in pants, I will be exactic! My stomache is what is keeping me in the big sizes. My big belly has overstayed it's welcome and I am kicking it out!!!! :) (if only I could kick it out at a quicker pace!) Besides my tummy I am looking forward to loosing a bit of my chest. My chest has always been a bit on the large size, but it has really blossomed since I have gained all of this weight. That brings me to a question-What is the best exercise to help lift them after weight loss?
Happy Tuesday!

First thanks to Dinky for starting this, great
I am very new here, just registered and posted around 5 or 6 posts in the last few days. Every morning I go to my computer and read these posts. Well I finally came across this one. And guess what your all stuck with me now :) I LOVE these posts they encourage me and keep me going :exclm: And it's so much fun. I've never seen any rude comments nor seen anyone trying to bring people down. So what if you have a slip now and then, noone says your awful or you can't stay in our group. And something else about that , in high school being in or with a group of people made me feel good, accepted and needed. I love knowing that I can come here and talk to all of you. These are the bests posts that I can relate to. I'm 5'4" and my highest weight was 140. I was wearing a size10/11. The extra weight was everywhere. But thanks to LCing I lost 35 pounds. Now I only wanted to lose 30 but my energy level was so high that the extra 5 just fell off. So I gained muscle and looked great. Now forward to the present I can't wait to see my old body again :exclm: I have 3 months till I leave for the Caribbean (St. Lucia) and I will be ready for last years bikini's :exclm: Hope to hear from someone soon, sorry so long just excited to meet all of you :exclm: :exclm: :exclm: Good Luck and Keep It Up :D

Hello Atanqt,

Welcome to petites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Atanqt, I'm curious as to how long it took you to lose that 35 or was it 40 lbs on LC. Some say it's harder and takes longer to do once you're near goal weight. Do you remember?
I lost 9lbs on induction in the first two weeks. And now entering my 3rd week of induction, cheated a little, so the weight loss has slowed. But got back in the saddle yesterday and today I'm down 2 more lbs. Feels great.
Good luck gal. We're rooting for you! ;)

Bikini? I haven't worn one of those since I was 19! I HAVE one (for the b/y pool) but I wouldn't head off to the beach in it even at goal :) . Just one of those acceptance things, after two kids leaving their mark, nobody needs to see that, lol.
I hope you manage to get there by the time you leave on your trip. Are you working out, too? I just finally managed to plop my lazy behind on my treadmill two nights in a row for 15 minutes! It's been a long time so I'm starting REALLY slow but hopefully I'll be ready for some weight training by mid-February.

Ruby, answering your :q: about how long it took me.
Only 3 months, maybe a little less.
2 pounds a week the first month=8 pounds
2 1/2 pounds a week in the second month=10 pounds
3 pounds a week in the third month=12 pounds
GRAND TOTAL=30 pounds in 3 months :exclm: :exclm: :exclm:
And yes, major excercise! well not overdoing it in a day but let me tell you how fast 20 min. a day walking (and then picking up the pace a little to get a run in) adds up! Keep going and it will work!

Hello! When I started this WOL I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant! I am 5'2 1/2, and usually say 5'3 so the figures look better. To me, anyway...
My first goal is to weigh 140, but I hope to move it to 130. I have a medium frame. I have always had large breasts (40DD) and a big toosh. Would like to see some of that disappear!
I don't think with this body type I can go below 130-135, but I look forward to trying! I usually averaged around 140-145 until about 3 years ago, when my weight just skyrocked! Stress, stress, stress. Am trying to find ways to combat it now, so I will be if & when it strikes again.
Good luck, ladies! :)

Hello to Danielle and Ginger! Welcome to our little club! I love it here, everyone is so positive! Good luck to you!
I like the idea of rewards. I think I will have to start doing that. When I get this next 2 lbs off, I will be at 10. I will reward myself. Thanks for the idea!

Hi Atanqt,
Wow! Incredible stats! How did you manage to lose more in the last month? It's usually the first month. Must be the exercise. Thanks so much for your prompt reply, it encourages me to see that it's possible. I think my body is respondnig quite well to this LC (Even though I'm hypothyroid which is supposed to slow things down a bit. My doc says with my meds it shouldn't really affect my weight.)
Today I'm 151lbs. And feeling great. DId have some carb cravings though. Very tough when I cook all those carby things for the family, but my discipline seems to have returned after my cheat two days ago.
You guys are all great, keep posting. :spin: :spin:

I think I may have lost another pound. I won't post until my week is up tomorrow though. I haven't been feeling well and I cheated a little (chicken noodle soup and 2 saltines) because I want feeling very hot, but I'm still doing well.
We are all going to make it on our way to better health. I feel very comfortable here!

Hello all my petite buddies. Almost didn't post tonight, cause I'm a little frustrated with myself. But I checked in and saw all the new posts and feel a little better.
The last couple days I've been eating too too much. Not really bad sugary stuff - just like I have a constant 'need to feed'. I hate when I get that way, and I'm usually able to get over it pretty quick. It's just like that TOM week, but I'm on hormone replacement and haven't had a period for months.
So here it is Wed already, the week is half gone and I'm up a lb instead of down a lb. from last week.
So there I've confessed. I will do better tomorrow - and I will come here and tell everyone how well I did :)
Does anyone have any good ideas for getting past these low days when you just want to put anything in your mouth, even though you know you're not really hungry :q:
Thank you all for being so cheery.

Dinky,
I totally understand how you feel. I haven't figured it out by any means. But when I cheated a couple of days ago and thought how I would have to wait to get back to ketosis and fat burning mode, I realised the cheat wasn't worth it. This is a very restrictive plan for me, but the results are great and my energy is way up.
Just keep at it and go easy on yourself. It takes a while to instill new behaviours and make them consistent. I'm trying to figure it out myself.
Bye for now, hope you feel better soon.

Well, Dinky and Ruby, I sure wish I had the answer to our prayers. I wasn't going to my 'confession' either but figured that was defeating the purpose of the journal if I just left it out.
I'm trying to figure out WHY I eat (aside from mod. carbo addiction according to the test). I know a big part of how I gained so much, so fast was quitting smoking but I'm not eating when I used to smoke anymore so I've simply transferred my addiction. Fine. I need to figure out what I'm trying to 'medicate' if I'm ever going to be successful at this, though.
Well, that's deep enough for one day, lol. Perhaps i will add St John's Wort to my supplements and see if that doesn't help or pray that my new, new addiction turns out to be exercise ROFLOL!
Hey, it could happen :)

Hello to everyone
Just writing to tell how my day went yesterday. I ate an omelet for breakfast, a yummy salad with cheese and turkey and a splash of italian and ranch dressing  I call this dressing (RATALIAN) only a few carbs in a tblsp. I felt great all day long :exclm: I'm going to bed earlier and getting up earlier too. I had to bowl last night on my league, and well there's never anyone eating ( I guess everyone waits till they go home for dinner) but everyone does drink. It takes the edge off of things :exclm: So the only night that I do drink is here and before I went I looked up what I should drink, (I usually drink 3 Coronas) but seeing that those had 13 Carbs each, I switched to BudLight with only I believe 3 or 6. So to be honest with you, I kept telling myself that this was alright, since I hadn't eaten but a few carbs all day, and that this was my carb intake. Now I know and have read that your body burns in this order---Alcohol,Carbs, Fat, so I'm aware that my body wasn't burning off that fat right away, but I bowled great and it does take off the pressure. So I don't get down on myself for doing this, it is only once a week anyway :exclm: And for dinner I had a half of steak w/a few grilled onions and mushrooms, and 3 chicken wings. Very good. Water to drink. Ok well I feel better telling you everything now and I can't wait till someone else posts. Chow, Chow

So everyone get up get out or just do something today that makes you feel good. Eat a wonderful breakfast, with LC's, or read up on some great LC recipes, or maybe even throw on some jogging pants and go for a walk outside for at least 20 min. I'm treating my dog to a 30 min. walk and run. Making him happy gets me FIT :exclm: :exclm: :exclm: It is infact another day that God gave to us to use toward getting where we want to be! Hope this helps out someone

I'm so glad I confessed yesterday. It really helped. I think just putting it down in black and white somehow make it a tangible thing I could recognize and set aside. Now I'm back! Positive attitude in it's rightful place.
My psycho analysis for the day - we are all doing great. Being aware of what you eat and how you want yourself to be are the primary goal. You can't help but improve at this point.
I did so good today. No matter what the scales say in the morning I will feel good about myself and that's absolutely half the battle. And that's an excellent start to any day.
Sitting here now with my cup of tea feeling totally content :)
I hope everyone had a good day as well.
Come on share all the details!

I know this is the same post as in Bikini countdown, but I wasn't sure if you all go to this site too, and I really wanted to tell my P Ladies how I'm doing. So instead of rewriting everything I just copied and pasted to this post. Hope it's ok. And if everybody reads both of these, someone PLEASE tell me so I don't keep doing this. I don't want people to have to read the same posts over and over again :o Just trying to help out with some encouragement from time to time ;) With that said.....
Friday's daily post:
Just catching up on how everyone's doing . Well, I feel great now that my boyfriend is LCing with me. How much easier this is. He is trying to get over being a carboholic. And I'm helping him. He tried this last year and it worked awesome for him. But when we met almost a year ago, I tried to impress him with my cooking and that's when we both gained weight. I'm keeping track of our weight by writing it down on paper, so he can see the results and want to keep going. He also has lost 6 pounds, and is so happy We ate great yesterday. Went to the biggest mall by us and walked around it twice. (had to buy a dress for a wedding were going to on Sat.) Well just wanted to check in with everyone.
I love coming to my computer every morning to read up on how everyone is doing. I now am incorporating a longer walk than usual. It's been 20min. daily, but I'm going to increase that to 30min. a day (with my dog.) It can't kill me, right. And it will get me seeing results faster , and let me tell you I can taste it already. I have this image in my mind that I can't get rid of. Me at St. Lucia in 3 months in the pool, under the waterfall, and I'm tan, in perfect shape, and PROUD to look over at my boyfriend and see him the same way and that I helped him get there
too
This is what keeps me going. I hope all of you have something to look forward to. Goals can be as little or as big as you want them to be. I like to start off slow and work my way up Good luck to all and to all a good day

Hi Ladies.
Glad you had a good day too Maria. That quiche sounds great. Will have to try it. Always trying to figure out something different to do with those incredible, edible eggs :p
Atanqt - yes I noticed yesterday we are very close. Bet I'm older - 49. Your turn to confess.
The last ten pounds are torture. They go soooo slow for me. down one, up one, down two, up one. and so it goes. As long as I don't get down in the dumps and stick with the program, it does eventually come off. Then I'm on top of the world, and say to myself ' Self' I say looking in the mirror with open admiration for that svelte body looking back, 'why did you let yourself get heavy again? Look how good you look! Now you are not EVER going to let that happen again. You know how hard it is to get back here..' and on and on. Then the little green aliens come down and hypnotise me and make me eat choc chip cookies and ben & jerry's ice cream & pizza (sorry - didn't mean to swear like that)
Anyway - I love your post. Don't have time to read very many threads - so copy us please!
Had a good day today. absolutley no cheating. did have bbq wings with dinner, but don't think it was enough to throw me out of sync.
Have a great weekend all. I hope to.

Hello ladies,
I have been very busy and haven't got to my email for two days.
I am glad everyone is doing great. I took my sister out for lunch yestersday. We was celebrating here month on Atkins. She has lost 30 lbs. She is looking great. She is an inch taller than I am but she very big bone. She was so surprised what we both ate.
We had people looking at us strange. I ate three big pieces of baked chicken and a nice size of legal salad. She wanted the meatloaf and I told her she better not because of the extra carbs with ketcup and filling. Our waitress understood because her father had lost 120 lbs on Atkins. I am glad that backward town is finally getting the message.
Dinky, I will be 49 this July. I am hoping to celebrate by being half way my goal. That would be wonderful.
Well ladies, I am glad everyone is doing fine and I am very proud of all of you.

I get to go and change my profile for the second time. I just changed it a few days ago because I had lost a pound the week before :) Now with the week ending I'm jumping for joy.
No, LITERALLY :exclm: I'm going to incorporate some jumping jacks into my daily routine :D I can really get used to this 1 week a pound thing except I have 12 weeks till vacation and now 15 pounds to go.
So, I'm going to continue my walking 30 min. a day and now I've added some push ups, sit ups, and leg lifts whenever I watch TV.
I don't even allow myself to lay on the couch anymore.
I feel so good when I finish a walk or a few crunches :exclm: And I feel slimmer :D Yesterday I had a small portion of scrambled eggs w/cheese and ham, and 3 sausage links, for lunch 1/2 of a steak and 1 egg, and for dinner 1/2 of a steak salad :exclm:
I'm going to my boyfriend's cousin's wedding tonight and let me tell you, he bought me the most beautiful long black silky gown.
GUESS WHAT SIZE :q: ( keep in mind I have been wearing a 7/8 in jeans for awhile now and those were tight for me, I carry all my weight in my hips and thighs ) Well, I'm proud and he was to that we got to buy a size 4 dress :exclm: :exclm:
I love it, I love it, I love it :D So please with all this said, ladies I can't express my overwhelming joy enough. Keep going with this, it WORKS :exclm: Well I'm going to post this on my other site, for my other ladies to read, and if I can even just boost one ladies self confidence or strength by writing these posts then I have done my job for the day  Talk to you all later

Hi ladies!
Way to go Atangt! I bet that dress looked and felt great!
Hello Marieaa-thanks for the recipe. My dh loves crab, I will have to try it. :)
Donnaj-congrats to you and your sis! It's nice to see others recognizing the success of LC eating. :exclm:
I have been doing great. At least I thought I was. I weighed myself a few days ago and I had hit 200! I was so excited. I had forgotten to change my profile and was planning on doing it this morning. I decided to weigh myself again this morning. I am 2 lbs heavier! Is it my scale? Is it me? I thought I was doing everything right! I realize that fluctuating can be normal(right?)
The good thing that has come out of this minor set back is I realized that I have no desire to cheat!! I feel so good about the progress I have made so far. I know this is working. I just wish it would go even faster!! I am very impatient. I am going to try not to weigh myself to often. Once a week should be good enough.
Anyway-The thing I need to remember is according to this morning's weight, I have still lost 1 lb.
And one of my friends said my breasts look smaller! Since they stick out so far, it's hard not to see a difference. Just need to keep up on those exercises!
Well-I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Dh and I are going out tonight. It will be a nice break. Good luck to everyone on their quest!!

Had a great day. Got the spare bedroom painted. It looks so nice and fresh. Buttery yellow color. Tomorrow I will clean up he mess :( then finish it up with some pictures on the wall and a comforter set.
The best part is I was so busy all day, I didn't even have time to think about carbs. Did great, feel good but tired.
atanqt - you are doing fabulous. Doesn't it feel awesome when you go down a size
Natalie you are doing great too. Don't let the fluid fluctuation psych you out. You know when you've been following the plan. Those other two pounds will disappear again when you least expect it - and not come back. My body always does that when I'm loosing. It's like it's trying to fill up the empty space the fat left with water I think. But it's always temporary.
Stick with us - we know lc works.
Enjoy your Sunday girls

I am such a spaz! I wasn't paying attention and clicked on new thread instead of post reply! So here is my message!
Hi Ladies! It has been quiet around here for a few days now. I just thought I check in and see how everyone is doing. I am great. I had a really good "exercise" day yesterday and I have stayed away from the scale for 2 days now. I hope to be able to stay away till next weekend. We will see.
I am into my 4th week on the Atkin's plan and am really feeling the differnce in my body. As I've said before, I wish it would happen faster-but patience is a virtue right? I have a question-Do any of you have any good recipes for lunch? I need some quick n easy stuff. We have had every kind of sausage known to man and chicken salad, mainly. A few variations, but I need some new ideas. My dinner menu has been great, we have tried a bunch of new recipes and liked them all. Whatever you can pass along would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Happy Low-carbing to all!

Natalie - lunch is the hardest. I work long days and have never been a good 'packer' but fast food is almost impossble - at least the few places near me at work. All the wrong stuff. Lately I've been trying to pack every day but Fri. Just taking some fresh vegies, either a hard boiled egg, tuna or chicken salad. Very portable. Lunch meats always make me stall. It's a pretty light lunch, so I can eat a decent dinner with dh.
Having a good low carb week so far. The old 'stopped up' problem keeps coming back. Might have to break down and look into the supplements people everyone on here talks about
Have a great Wednesday!

Nat., My favorite lunch is sinful simple. I take two tablespoon of pizza sauce and one stick of string cheese. Nuke for about two minutes and stir and eat with pork rinds. A quick pizza treat.
Another one is roll ups. I take deli thin roast beef and spread with cream cheese and place a dill and roll. Hope this help. I am so proud of your progress.

I didn't abandon the diet, I just didn't follow it as well as I should have for a few days. I'm back. Sometimes you get so darn busy. I finally threw up my picture. Just looking at that motivates me more. Whaaaaaaa.
I'm hitting my girl time, so that coupled with the bad days = no wieght loss for me. That's o.k. I'll do better this week!

My percentage is going up and I still have 3 full months till my vacation :exclm: I will not give up or give in to any gremlins or devils or whatever else trys to get in the way. This is my body and I have the control to make it look the best it can be.

Congratulations atangt!! A pound is a pound.
I haven't lost any yet this week, but then again I haven't gone poddy in days. Getting frustrated with that for sure  Will pick up some vit E. Thanks for the tip. It's supposed to be good for winter dry skin and wrinkles too. Sure can't hurt.
I have been good though - so sonner or later that next pound will majically disappear.

Thanks Dinky for always supporting me :exclm: I've been waiting to hear how everyone's been doing. It it so bad outside, we just got so much snow here in MI, so I went and borrowed my mother's treadmill.
I have to keep excercising everyday in order to lose the last of these few pounds. I'm still eating great. Very Low Carbs!
Well, I have to go to work now, I have a physical job so I guess that's getting some excercise in for the day.
Hope you all are continuing to look forward to the summer, I know I can't wait :D Bye now

I went walking today and it felt great. So far I've exercised 3x this week. The week is not over and I need to do more.
I hope everyone is doing well!!

Hi,
My name is Carol and have just been doing Atkins for a month...I am 5'1" and now weigh 209...lost 16 lbs in one month.
I have been heavy my entire life, and cannot even imagine what it would be to weigh 125. In college, I weighed 159 lbs and wore a size 11....I am taking my weight loss in 5 lb goals at a time.
It is so nice to share experiences with folks in the same boat as me....just reading everyone's previous messages has been very encouraging to me...and I suppose when I figure out how to use this computer...someday I will change my profile....Thanks for all the support already!

Hello to everyone!
Way to go Donnaj! I am glad your room is almost done. We are just about finished with the boys room :exclm: It has taken forever. Of course, the kitchen will probably take 2x a long. We wanted a house we could fix up. :)
Welcome to Ranger!
Atangt-I wish I had your drive for exercise. I just can't seem to get it together to do it everyday-even 5 times a week would be great at this point.
OK-I am now making a committment in front of all of you to exercise 5x a week :exclm: Then when I get that down, I can move up a day. So far I am at 3x a week.
Have a great day-

Welcome to our new petite buddy, Ranger!
I had an family emergency with a quick out of town trip. It was a high carb 24 hour road trip. So glad to be back home. Hope I didn't get set back too much.
Atanqt - are you doing any other significant exercise besides walking/jogging? I just spent most of the last 24 hrs in the backseat of a car. So I feel like a slug right now.
February means spring is getting closer, days will get longer and we can all get outside for more exercise, fresh air, and renewed energy.
Happy Groundhog's Day ladies

I can't believe it is February. The groundhog saw it shadow and I quess we are in for 6 weeks more of bad weather. That okay, I am still remodeling and the cool weather helps. I cleaned out my closets last night. I had clothes from a size 22 to size 6. Oh boy, you know how long it has been since I did that chore. But I think this well help me stay on track. I will get to buy new smaller clothes in smaller quanity until I reach my goal. I know I have to buy a new bathing suit for summer.
Well ladies, I hope this day is the best for all of us.

Thanks for welcoming to the "petite" group....I had a great day today....I went to a Superbowl party and brought the appetizers...scallops wrapped in bacon, asparagus wrapped with prosciutto and goat cheese, and shrimp with mayo/mustard dip....no one knew they were eating lo-carb!
I just ate the chicken for dinner, and passed on the potatoes, corn, rice and chocolate trifle. I felt full and satisfied and drank lots of water while the others drank beer.....not too much, but it is easy to be the designated driver on this diet! :daze:
I even brought strawberries dipped in chocolate, and didn't even get tempted to try one....that is what I like about the Atkins diet, you don't crave stuff all the time.....and if I do ever crave chocolate and my husband has just eaten some, I give him a kiss, and get a whiff of it, plus I get a sweet kiss! Does that sound goofy or what???
It was really fun to go to a party be able to eat good food, and also to have the Patriots win the superbowl!
Take care everyone!

Dinkidy,
Do,
I've got a message waiting for you!
Sorry, I couldn't resist :p I think that's the song from Willy Wonka.
Anyways, it is so good to hear about everyone's move about walking or doing some sort of exercise. Let me tell you, my boyfriend and I are walking everyday at least 30 min. And boy do we feel great :exclm:
If he can't do it one day then I grab the dog. Once you get started, it's hard to stop. I now know what people mean when they talk about feeling high when they workout. The release of endorphins does stimulate your whole body, and puts you in a great mood :D
Dinky: I'm also doing floor excercises, ab work, leg lifts, push ups, and I'm going to go buy some dumb bells too. The extra muscle on your body really speeds up the fat burning process  So everyone keep up the good work and I'll check in tomorrow.

I usually try to walk a mile a day but for the last two week I have been remodeling and I think the extra workout helped so I am going to start my belly dancing routine again. It is fun and it work all the body part.
Karen H, I remember when I had endomitrosis I had a hard time running and doing situps. I lived with endomitrosis since I was 13 and I had to have hystermony when I was 35. But with all the medical breakthrough they have some to contol it now. Good luck.

Big news - tomorrow is my baby boy's 20th birthday.
:bday: I can't believe he's all grown up. He chose Olive Garden for his birthday dinner tomorrow night. I will try something new this time. I think they have steak or pork chops or something.
Well ladies, I'm all tuckered out. But I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Friday and a birthday celebration. The only thing that would make that better would be for those old scales to drop just one more pound :D

Hi Dinky,
Enjoy your son's birthday party! I too am going to my nephew's 18th party on Saturday. His mom called last night and asked if I would make the cake.....I made a Valentine cake and cookies for my husband and daughter yesterday and didn't even like the spoon! The habit of doing that is still there, I just have to think about it a little more.....my three year old really enjoys the spoon now...(with just a little tiny bit of batter!)
I have not gone off the Atkins diet since New Years and I am not planning to, but the celebrations can be a little tough...I always bring along a couple of Mozzarella sticks in case I can't eat what is being served.
Fortunately, my sister-in-law understands my diet and called to ask me what I could eat so she will have the right stuff. I thought that was very nice of her. So we are having steak and salad.
I hope you can order something at the Olive Garden that fits your plan! Good Luck!

Dinky, I hope you have a wonderful time at your sons :bday: party. I hope you enjoy yourself.
Carol, I think it is wonderful that your sister-in-law called to ask what you can eat. That was very sweet and kind. It you want to really surprise them I made some mini muffins that is only 4 carbs and put cream cheese icying on them. They are wonderful. The recipe is :
1 cup almond meal
1 egg
1tsp. of vanilla extract
2 packages of splenda
3 tsp. of heavy cream
about 1 tsp. water
2 tbsp. of pumpkin
1 tsp. of pumpkin spice
Mix all together and if need add the water. Place in mini muffin pans or mini bunt pans and bake at 350 degrees until brown. I need to get me a timer. After they cool , I took 1 tsp. of cream cheese, pkg. of splenda and 1 tsp. of devicci carmel syrup and mix until smooth. They frost two muffins.
I hope this will help and just maybe the family well say wow this is low carb.
Well everyone have a good evening.

Thanks. One thing I like it you can be creative with it.
Using the almond meal, egg, splenda you could use a vary of different spices and even omit the pumpkin. I even made a bunch with peanut butter and chocolate and they were delicous.
Well let me know how you like them.

Hi DonnaJ,
How ya doing? I'm down to 148 this morning and just had to tell all you petites. I'm absolutely  :spin: :wiggle: thrilled!!!
This is my second induction. Here's the data:
First induction lost 7 lbs first week,
then 2 lbs second week.
Had good apetite suppression but then had cravings and fell off the wagon for a week or so, and my weight volleyed up and down about 3 lbs or so. Finally, I decided to pull up my boot straps and get back on track. So Jan 31 restarted induction. Was very good the first week and lost more!
2nd Induction: 5.5 lbs first week,
Am now into second week. Will post later.
These results are stunning to me. I know it will slow down, but for now I'm enjoying the extra boost. I haven't been exercising because it's hard enough to get one ball rolling for now. I feel my cravings are gone and I have to remind myself to eat now. Can you believe it!!!!!!
I also like that it's February and with this nice little kickstart, it will help keep me motivated for the harder days a head, and maybe go into the summer feeling healthier and leaner.
Am now checking out Body for Life and excercise plans. Will report back. Good luck petites. Hope you are all staying motivated, it's well worth it, even if results aren't so dramatic.
Bye   :daze: :spin:

And hello to all you petites!
My best friend since high school called me last night. She was always tiny, about 5' 2", and thin....very thin.....well she has started the Zone diet, since she has gained about 10 lbs....I don't know much about that diet, but I think it might be harder for her to lose 10 lbs, than for me to lose a lot more.
I told her about this forum and urged her to join in, since you guys are all so helpful.
It is funny, I never thought I would be dieting with my best friend, and was always a little jealous that she would stay so slim, but now she needs my encouragement, so I am glad we can do this together!
Hope you are all doing well, haven't heard from anyone in a day or two.... Take care, Carol
PS: My nephew's birthday party was fine, I had steak and chicken and salad.....the funny thing was the birthday cake I made for him, got knocked off the counter and fell upside down on the ground!!! Oh well, it was only excessive carbohydrates anyway!!LOL.

Ranger,
I am glad you told your friend about the forumn. I know it has helped me with encouragement and knowledge. I have read about Zone but I find that Atkins is better for me.
I have a girlfriend in Texas and she was skinny in our university day and now she is over 200 lbs and very depressed. So, she has got Dr. Atkins book and I send her a link to the forumn but so far I haven't seen her on here but we can only encourage them and give them our support.
I am glad that you had a good time your nephew birthday party and you did wonderful with your selection. But, I am sorry all your hard work on his cake was wasted. Well girlfriend, I have some work to do but I email this evening.

Are you still working on your house? We are contemplating redoing our bathroom as a DIY project.....but we are a little nervous about trying it ourselves.....(Bob Villa we are not!!LOL) When we get our tax return back we will probably be more enthusiastic about putting up new shower walls, flooring and lighting.....well it is late and I have to run out to the barn and feed the horses and goats....brr it is really cold too.
Take care,

Yes, we are still remodeling. Just waiting for the end of the month to get more materials. We have to put the ceiling tiles up and molding and put in the new fan. It is really surprise what you can do by yourself. Fixing a house never seems to get done.
Well have a good night and stay warm. It is getting colder here in West Virginia. Talk to you tomorrow.

Dear girls,
Thank u all for your genuine sweetness, u girls are amazing!
I have not lost any weight or inches in a month & I'm starting to feel discouraged. I was on some powerful slimming drugs for years & it has screwed up my metabolic-system & health. I'm not sure if I can reach my goal or not. To make matters worse, my mum, who's 5'5" & weighs 180 lbs, called me a fat pig last week. She said that I should've been able to maintain my weight after I got off the slimming drugs, cos she did (she's always weighed about 180 lbs). I got so depressed that I ate & ate & ate (meat, cheese & nuts). I'm now 146 lbs. I feel like that I'm losing this battle.

Hi Disneybebe
I'm not too impressed by your mom's words. Perhaps if you're patient your body will respond in it's own time. It just needs to heal. And sometimes, that takes time. I'm not familiar with diet drugs and their after effects. Perhaps you could visit Atkins website and ask them about this. Hope it all works out, don't give up.

Disneybebe, I am like Ruby, I was impress with what your mother had to say. I was also on diet bills and suffered from anerixa when I was younger and it does miss your body chemistry up big time. It took awhile but I find that I lose weight slowly now. So be patient and you will start see a different. Why don't you send us what you are eating to what is stall you. I was like you stalled and then my doctor started me off for two day but nothing but protein and then start adding food every two day to see what food I can eat. Maybe this would help you.

Hi Disney Bebe,
It is a shame that people use hurtful words...those are the ones that are remembered...my father used to say things like that to me all the while when I was growing up...and those words are the ones I will never forget. It was as if me being heavy was a disgrace to him, and that I made him look bad....pretty pathetic.
But I finally figured out that whatever I do for my body is for me...I am not losing weight to gain anyones approval, or to fit into the magazine's model of the ideal person....it is solely for me.
I am 40 years old and I have a 3 year old daughter, and I found I could not keep up with her! So I guess part of the weightloss is for her benefit too.
Think about why you want to lose weight...that is what I did. I thought perhaps my dad might be a little more supportive of me, but he keeps telling me I will never reach my goal....I have learned to ignore his negativity and realized that he will never change. The best thing I have found is when I see someone and they notice that I have lost some weight...that is the positive reinforcement that is really encouraging to me at this point.
Keep coming to this site, the people here are fabulous and so helpful and supportive. Luckily for me, I have had a steady loss, but some weeks I haven't lost anything.
I found it really helps to write everything I eat down on paper, and there is a section on this site where you can journal what you are eating. Somehow if it is written in black and white, it jumps out at you, where something might be hindering your weight loss.
I also only weigh myself on Mondays, early in the morning. Your weight will fluctuate from day to day, depending on lots of things, so you might get discouraged if you try to weigh in every day.
Stick with it! We are here for you!
PS: I love my dad, but I just have to accept him for the way he is...I wish he could do the same for me! :daze:

Hi Ladies,
I'm new to this site, but I have been on P.P. for almost two years now. This sounds like the place for me. I'm 5 feet tall and used to weigh 265lbs "a walking beach ball" LOL.I'm now at 137lbs, my goal is 120lbs but after reading all the posts here I'm starting to wonder if l20 is still a bit to heavy for my height. I've always been overweight so I guess I don't know what weight would be best for me, I guess I'll see when I get there. You girls are really cool, and I like the way you encourage each other, I wish I would have had a computer when I started this WOL, Oh well!!!!! Better late than never.
Looking forward to hearing from you
:) Louise

Hi Louise,
I don't know how to dowload photos. I think you need a digital camera shot, and software to do it. There's a technical forum here, and probably a thread that explains how to do it. Hope you do!
G'night,
Ruby :)

Dear Donna & girls,
Donna, thank u. I've been using fitday for a couple of days & I think the system is great.
Did u girls get any candies or chocolates on Valentine's Day? My hubby was way supportive, he actually bought me a packet of sugar-free (for diabetics) cookies instead of the chocolates that he's always bought me on VD. I think that men can be rather sweet & charming when they're not being pain in the backsides, right girls? Sorry if I was politically incorrect, hehe.

Good for you Bebe!!!!!
Sounds like you have a romantic husband. We'll mine is not Mr. romance, he doesn't believe in Valentines day. I guess he feels he loves me enough year round so who needs a special day LOL. But I fooled him, I treated myself to a nice bubble bath, with a book and just took time to relax....So I guess I was my own Valentine .I think we all deserve a treat every now and then..Well I had a good day.. Hope you did to

My husband gave my valentine present early by remodeling the bedroom. We were out of money by time Valentine came but I got up early and wrote a note and put satin heart with messages on them. He went around a collected the hearts and he was reward with what was on the hearts. He was so touched that he woke me up after I laid back down and wanted on of his reward. Which was a hug and a kiss. We both enjoyed it and he is still recieve his reward today. Hope you girls had a wonderful VD also.
Louise welcome to the forumn and I love that you took time for yourself to relax and enjoy your valentine day.
Well girls have a good evening and I email soon.

Hi Girls,
I'm glad you had a nice Valentine's Day....fortunately, no one gave me chocolates....my Mom gave me a nice pair of earrings, and my hubby took me out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Wonderful beef tenderloins with a mushroom and wine sauce....and a big salad....I even had a vodka on the rocks for the first time in ages....what a nice evening.
Today we drove the hour and 15 minutes it takes to get to the mall, and I actually bought some Atkins chocolate bars with peanuts. I tried one and they were excellent! It must be too good to be true....anyway, I will keep them for the occasional treat.....talk to you all soon!

Good Morning!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy this morning!!!!!!After being stuck to 137lbs for 6 months, I stepped on the old scale this morning and weighed 135lbs.....Maybe my body has adjusted and will allow me to loose the rest of my weight now!!!!! Ranger I don't think in Canada we have to many places that sell Atkin's products and they're so costly on line, but I did make my own protein bars last week and these are very delicious as well, they kind of taste like a fudge!!!!!
Well I hope you all have a great day   Louise

I'm glad your scale has moved again! I have seen others on this site refer to the "whoosh fairy" who comes and takes the weight! Guess she visited you last night! Congrats....I would be interested in the recipe you used to make your own bars.....they are darned expensive here too. Take care, Carol

Good Morning Ranger and girls!!!!!
I'd love to share my Protein Bars recipe with you because I think they're great and they really do help me through the time of month when I crave sugars!!!!!! I usually double the recipe and wrap them individually in plastic wrap and then they're ready to go when I need them....
PROTEIN BARS
1 square unsweetened chocolate
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. heavy cream I use 35per cent whipping cream
3pkts equal
3 scoops choc.protein
1 cup chopped peanuts, pecans or any nuts you like.
1/2 cup of unsweetened coconut
2 tbsp. of unsweetened maple syrup
Melt choc.and butter in microwave for 1 min. Stir until melted. Add equal and cream, stir until creamy.Add protein powder, nuts and coconut, mix add syrup and mix, sometimes you have to use your hands to mix properly.Line bread loaf with plastic wrap and press mixture firmly. Chill till firm. Cut into bars.
5g carbs-15g protein per 1/6 recipe...
I sometimes add 1 tbsp. of peanut butter, or use vanilla protein powder with almonds and almond extact.....You can try different things they're easy and quick to make.
Hope you like these
 Have a great day

Dinky,
Hang in there. There will be plenty of reward in the future. One of my reward I can't wait is to pack a picnic and going hiking. I take a back pack and take a lunch with a blanket and a book of course. I will walk until I am tired and then eat and read for awhile. Then I will hike back. I usually start when spring.
Well, have a great day and I will email soon.

HI!,
I've just joined this group and was so glad to find other 'PETITE' people with whom I can relate. I am 5'3" and last year hit 150 lbs.
I will be hitting the big '50' this summer and I am determined to get back into shape! (Goal 115lbs)
Many years ago I had gone on the Atkins Diet and lost wieght so I knew it could work again for me. I started again on 15AUG01 at 145lbs. By 10DEC01 I was at 120. I made it thru the Holidays OK but this past month I have put back on 4lbs.
Help! I only had 5 to go and now I'm finding myself eating everything I know I shouldn't. Why am I sabotaging my hard work?

Welcome Angelfish!!!!!
I don't really know why you would be wanting to eat more after you've gone this far.....Maybe you are stressed for some reason or other or maybe your hormones are playing tricks on you!!! Are you craving carbs, or just anything.....I know I was at a plateau for a long time and I'm eating lean protein and it seems to be helping...Maybee if you are hungry try eating lean protein,if I crave sweets I usually have a fruit flavored herbal tea, or a protein bar...Are you drinking a lot of water?I don't know what else to say, but you've come this far so keep your chin up, you're so close to your goal, you did something right  to get to this point so just keep at it and everything will be fine!!!!!
