Hi everyone!

It is snowing here too! It is also a lot warmer than it was in January. I hope to go cross-country skiing next weekend.

Carol, congratulations on loosing another pound :cheer::cheer::cheer: . It is so nice that you can also see the difference!

Paula, you were so good for your birthday! I can only hope that one day, I will be as good as you are. Doing something special instead of eating something special is something I tried to do for the last year, but I guess it will take me a few years until it feels right. It always takes a few years before a new tradition becomes a tradition!
Happy Birthday!

Hey Petites

Thank you for the nice "Happy Birthdays"! :wiggle: I am 38 today and knocking on the 40 door..... :p I forgot to tell you my dh and kids surprised me with a kitty on Saturday, Sam our new addition is adjusting okay to the other 2 cats we already have. We think he is about 4-6 months old and they got him from the humane society. He is following me around and a little scrappy. I love him already and sad that he spent 4 months caged up. He is so skinny.

Karen I would LOVE to send you some of our snow. The snow I don't mind but the subzeros I could do without.

Ranger I am so proud of you losing weight and noticing in your rings....I can too

Have a great week everyone....I am thankful I have you gals :dazzle:

We have had huge amounts of snow here and it is still comming down as I type. I am so ready for summer to be here with the warm weather.
The weight is comming off slowly but steady. You all are doing so well!!!!!!!!!!Keep it up :yay: Boy what is my next goal going to be, after I have lost the weight? Maybe quit smoking who knows. I didn't think I could lose weight and keep it off but here I am 2 years and 4 months into it and I will never quit this way of life. It is hard but it is so right for my body!!!
Well happy lowcarbing AND STAY WARM!!!! Lynn :sunny:

Snow did I read someone wants snow? You can have ALL the snow/ice thats in my yard if you really want it!! And I'm getting tired of rigging up the mailbox too no thanks to the plows!
Congratulations everybody on their losses! Not sure about myself this week as far as my weight goes, clothes are fitting looser but I go up and down about 2.5 pounds when I weigh myself...so I don't rely on that so much anymore. I can't remember who, but someone said their rings fit more loosely and I have found the same...guess we'd better be careful they don't go flying off, especially in this cold weather, I think my fingers shrink when its cold also...
Paula we got our 2 cats from the SPCA and they are the greatest....and our 3rd was a stray shes pretty cool too. Homeless pets seem to be more appreciative...I would love to save them all, but three cats is where I draw the line. Actually, where my husband draws the line. I probably would adopt another if we could both agree....anyhow. everyone keep up the good work don't let the winter get you down, I counted today, there are 46 days left until the first day of spring...time for shorts and swimsuits and all that stuff...so keep at it!!! Later!

It sounds like we are all hanging in there....snow or no snow....we had 8 inches last night and it seems like it came down all at once! What a blizzard! Now the temp today reached 30 degrees, but the wind is gusting like you wouldn't believe.....it actually stopped my DD as she was skiing down the mountain today.....dead in her tracks....it was really kind of funny! LOL. But at least it was sunny and bright.

Today I was thinking about why I love skiing so much, and I finally realized that it is like flying.....you go zooming down the mountain, in the bright sunshine, and cold wind.....it really feels like you are flying and I feel sort of WEIGHTLESS and Free! (of course until you wipe out...when you end up feeling like a crash test dummy hitting a brick wall....!LOL) Fortunately that doesn't happen all that often.

The whoosh fairy visited again today....lost one more lb, but haven't updated my profile yet....my mom lost 2 lbs too, so we have both lost 14 lbs since Jan. 1. My brother is hoping to start Atkins on Monday....I hope we can all stick with it.

I wanted to share something cool with you all that happened today at the mountain....I had spoken to the cook there and he said he would make me up a chefs salad when ever I wanted one, (they usually have mostly burgers, fries, chilli, etc) I thought that was kind of nice...today he told me he ordered lo carb dressing just for me! There at the cashiers was a basket of lo carb Russell Stover candies! They bought them because I was talking about Atkins, I just thought that was sooo nice! Normally, I just get a decaf coffee and a salad, now I can have a treat too!

I tried one of the Russel Stover toffee treats, and it tasted too good to be true......there was only .2 carbs in each piece (2 per package) it was made with Splenda and really good.

Stay warm my petite friends! We can do this together!

MMmm candy...I am going to look for those Russell Stover candies. There are so many candies out now for Valentine's Day its unbelieveable. Hard for me, the sugar addict I am, to resist, but I have not given in yet! Not even to those little hearts with the sayings on them.

Carol what you say about skiing is how I feel when I am swimming...its like you are flying, in a way. Its great when you love a activity so much its not even like exercise, that you HAVE to go out and do it. You WANT to do it! Did you ever go cross country skiing? Around me there is a 60 mile canal that runs along the Delaware River with a towpath, and in the winter I see everyone cross county skiing there. I use it in the spring walking my dog...Might give it a shot one day. I did try downhill skiing once and wound up walking down the mnt with skiis in hand. Little too scary for me. Anyway!

I think I have completely stalled out as far as my weight loss goes. I have been going way over board on the peanut butter, and I think that is the problem. I could eat it alone just for a meal. Isnt that awful. Today is the first day I have gone without it since I started. I haven't bothered changing my profile because it hasn't gone any lower then whats listed, and I keep fluctuating back and forth a few lbs or so.
Well ladies hope you are all doing well. I am getting ready for our next round of snow sleet freezing rain tomorrow. Hope everyones weather is cooperating.......

Hi Swimm1975,
Funny, I was thinking about you after I posted about the feeling of weightlessness while skiing....the same is true for swimming or scuba diving....yes I do go cross country skiing on occasion. I gave my baby backpack to someone, so now I can't go with my DD unless I buy her some cross country skis...plus since DH bought me the season pass for skiing I have been trying to ski as much as possible to make the most of it.

We have a park in town that has a gorgeous lake and trails, that they groom for cross country...they also lend out snow shoes, skates and some cross country skis for people to use..but they don't have them small enough for my kid.....she does have snow shoes, so we might try that someday soon.....heck I hear after tomorrow we will have plenty more snow to deal with!

Keep at it....I know I was getting really discouraged after losing a bunch on induction, and then nothing for a couple of weeks...but then this week 2 lbs are gone! I know you can do it! Stick with it! You should give the cross country skiing a try, it is no where near as scary as down hill, and more of a workout too! We can do this together!

Thanks Paula and swim for the snow. We got 4-6 inches and the kids were out yest. and today from school. it has melted on the main roads, but they always cancel school becasue of the side roads and hills that we have. I am not sure yet whether I have to go to work or not.
When I went skiing I didn't feel very weightless. hehehe I am fairly athletic but I tell you I never graduated past the bunny slopes...The first time I tried it by myself...well I bit the dust!
I would love to find a exercise where I felt weightless...I love dancing and weightlifting though. I am finally doing it enough now to see results...

Congrats on the kitty...We got two new ones for Christmas..(to join our 4 others :) ) They are soooo sweet and doing great! (Our family loves cats can you tell)

Have a great day....I already am I am down another .5 that makes 5 this week.

Well today was weigh in for week #2 and...........*drum roll please*.....

I have lost 5 more lbs. *YIPPEE* That is a grand total of 14 lbs. I am ecstatic. Not so much at the 14 lbs. but because for the first time since my oldest daughter was born *she is 23 tomorrow*, I am under 300!!!!!!!!!!! You have no idea how GOOD that feels unless you have been there. I actually put my socks on the other day without sitting down. I STOOD UP and was able to get my foot up high enough and the rest of me down low enough that I could do this great feat. I will NEVER go back to the old ways. This WOE is just perfect.

Hello Petites

Had a bad lc weekend. I won't bore you will the details, they are in my journal. But decided to go to a clean induction and see what happens. Week three of no weight loss and I am trying to change that.

Hope everyone has a great lc week.

Ranger, it got up to 27 yesterday, downright balmy in MN with the sun too.

Our snow is still on the ground. That is amazing for here. The roads are pretty clear...I wish we had alittle more...I know I am being greedy.

I will do a clean induction this week too Paula. To be honest I have never done a perfect induction for a whole week. I think that is shameful of me, and I am soooo impressed at how many do it for days/weeks or even months! I am really gona try and keep focused. I want to keep the scale moving. I still cannot fit into clothes that fit in August! (I wear scrubs at my current job and so it is hard to see the weight gain as quickly)

Have a great week.

I am glad I will not be alone doing another induction. I think I have to. I messed up big time last night. It was the first unplanned cheat I have had since eating this way. (Since Dec 28th 03)
I thought I'd share it with you guys because I am feeling guilty as ever and its just going to make me feel better to write it out!
It all started when my husband made me a Long Island Iced Tea (that I was begging for) I drank it too fast. Now remember of course I haven't had sugar in forever, and there was sugar in the sour mix and Coke Cola, so the enbriated feeling was probably from both sugar and way too much alcohol.
I'm just going to lay it out on the table here, I was drunk. I mean the room spinning kind. After ONE drink...and I'm not a lightweight, well, I guess I am now, being so sugar sensitive.
So while I was in this state of mind I decided eating brown sugar right out of the bag was the thing to do, and I'm paying for it all today. And that is my confession, for I have sinned!!
I did go to the gym this morning for my regular routine (and as part of my pennance haha) and I am feeling better because of it. But, early on in this WOE I did try a piece of cake here and there, and felt so nauseated, so you can well imagine how barfy I feel today.
SO, I am going to FL in two weeks, Daytona Bch area, and I will so not be drinking any alcohol. Because I just can't handle it anymore, and the out of control cravings that go with it. OK I feel better now I got if off my chest thanks for listening (reading)
Later!

Ohh Swimm don't beat yourself up.....most of us had a bad week. I keep a journal to keep myself somewhat sane. Look how far you have came in figuring this all out. I can totally relate to the lightweight thing with alcohol. I messed up last night with beer and pizza and I was giddy after one beer.

Be proud of yourself....you picked yourself up and went and worked out. Look forward to Fl in two weeks! :)

One thing I have to remind myself is this...Eating this way is a lifetime...we will slip up but if we pick right back up we don't lose much time reaching our goals...Also just think of where we would all be if we were eating that way all the time.

I am doing a CLEAN induction...I be there with ya. WE CAN DO THIS FOR 1-2 WEEKS! After that we will feel so much better and can go from there!

FL here you come. Btw I am a light weight now too!

I feel so much better after reading these posts. Not better because we faltered, but at least am I not alone!

Carol you might be right about the full moon, it was so big and low Fri. night I took some pictures of it.
Are you guys finding this WOE hard to keep at? Personally, I can see myself eating like this the rest of my life, its just the alcohol part I'm having a hard time with. NOT saying I am an alcoholic (really!) But I do enjoy a drink now and then, and I only like really sweet drinks...not allowed as we know. If there was a definiton of "sugar addict" in the dictionary, my picture would be right there next to it. I am def. a sweet tooth and its probably not even the amaretto I am missing its the darn sugar!
Im just picking myself up and dusting off.
Thanks for your support everybody!

I also cheated with some chips this weekend. Usually, when DH eats some chips in front of the TV I just have a piece of cheese, but I was sick with some bad cheese on Friday. So instead of having a slice of bacon or some olives I just ate some chips. I am still not sure about how it happened exactly. It must have been the moon that made me loose all common sense!

Good luck to everyone doing induction this week!

Day 1 of the clean induction...again. This time it isn't as rough but I am missing my caffeine. Let's see how long I can go without a diet coke? I got up an hour earlier than I usually do and got on the treadmill. That helped a lot.

A lot of us messed up this weekend huh? Full moon....I will take any excuse I can get.

We GO Girls!!! I would say an egg and a pork chop are perfect induction foods....I have 3 eggs for breakfast usually, and if I have time...I will add a couple slices of bacon...Steak and eggs for Sunday breakfast at a restaurant...no homefries though!

I have been staying at or under 20 grams of carbs per day, but have been using peanut butter, and nuts and some strawberries at times, but making sure I stay under the 20...some of the above I don't think are allowed on induction, but I need the variety. I picked up some lo carb bars/endulge bars at Wal Mart, to keep me on track for Valentine's day.

DD's preschool class is having a valentine's party on Thursday, and everyone is bringing cupcakes, and dessert type stuff......I was assigned a heart cake...it is sitting there awaiting frosting....I hope I, no...I know I will not taste it.....it should be a challenging day, but I am sticking with you guys!

I just bought shoes yesterday for my big party that I am going to in March....what a rude awakening for me...I have been out on the farm too long, wearing boots, clogs, and birkenstocks....the shoe styles are crazy...my DH was just laughing at me when I tried them on....I am not exactly a fashion follower...but what is up with these pointy shoes....I am going to look like an elf!
(Please forgive my bumpkin-ness.....I am totally happy in pajama pants and an old soft sweatshirt! LOL.....lookout Boston, here I come!

I still have one outfit to find....gosh I hate clothes shopping!

Well enough of my yappin...I am going to bed early tonight....up late with DD's very sick pony...she is just so old, she seems to have 9 lives, I didn't expect to see her alive this AM...but there she was....she is getting better from the colic episode, at least she ate her dinner tonight. Our best guess is that she is around 40 years old, and we adore her.....think good thoughts for her please! Her name is Brownie.

Ranger,
Good to hear about the pony on the road to recovery.

Well my 17 year old daughter jumped on the l/c band wagon. She started yesterday and did really well. When she and her friends went to the store, she got a Diet Rite cola, pork rinds, and beef jerky. Sheesh I only gave her the book a couple of nights ago, she is such a quick study. She really needed this but I didn't dare 'nag'. I knew that would only make her eat more. She saw me losing and saw that I was far from going hungry or missing those nasty, poisonous carbs *grinz*. We made the l/c zipper bag ice cream last night. She was happy lol. I love this WOE. WE WILL SUCCEED!!!! Hang in there everybody...a slimmer day is on the horizon.

WOW! I love e-chatting with such a great bunch of LOSERS! You are all winners in my eyes! No loss on the scale today, no sweat...maybe tomorrow....sticking with induction too....

Today I went to our town gym and did a 1/2 hour sit and stretch class, and went 10 minutes on an eliptical machine?(I think that is what it was?) and walked 10 on the treadmill and 5 on the nordic trak. It was ok, but I hate missing an afternoon of skiing...but we will go again tomorrow.....my mom has been going to the classes, and she dragged me along...I would rather be outside anyday, but it was fun. Even my 4 year old did the class.

My mom has lost 17 lbs so far since New Years....she has me beat by 2 lbs! I better get with it! LOL. She is 70, and can now walk a half an hour on the treadmill at a pretty good pace.

Melody, glad to see your daughter is joining you! She will be surprised how easy it is to do....these days there are so many lo-carb choices, it is great.

OK, I have made zipper bag ice cream before, but for lo-carb do you just add Splenda instead of sugar? I would love to have the recipe! It would be fun to do with my DD.

Take care all my petite friends....who are getting "petiter" by the minute!

That cake recipe is more an icing recipe. It is the sweetest thing I ever tasted. I made only half the recipe and I used a pound of icing sugar! I know, why would I make someone I love, eat that much sugar? To make me feel even guiltier, my brother has type 2 diabetes. He asked for that particular cake.

But today, I will do something special for him: I will introduce him to sugar free Da Vinci syrups! I will try an Italian soda with the caramel flavour. I wish I can convert him to less harmful habits. He always claims that Aspartame is toxic chemical and I am not going to argue on this one, but for someone with diabetes, I think sugar is just as harmful. I will tell you how it went tomorrow!

Have a happy low carb day everyone!

Great Job Calico Cat! I make wedding cakes and it is really hard not to taste! But you did great.

What are and where do you get DaVinci syrups? They sound good.

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's day....I stuck to it...only had an Atkins chocolate...no Valentine's sugar for me....lol...

We had dinner reservations at a local restaurant, for 7 pm, and took our 4 y/o DD and an 8 year old friend with us...they were so unorganized, we did not get our dinner until 9 PM! We were starved....DD fell asleep in DH's arms, right before it came out....most if it was incorrect, but we were so hungry we didn't care.....kind of a bummer for dinner, but the food was ok.
I wanted prime rib, but they were out, so I had a sauteed veal dish with cheese and asparagus on top, and a cream sauce with crabmeat in it....it came with a salad, and they gave me an extra side of veggies instead of potato....so they did accomodate, but it took for ever....oh well, next year we will make reservations earlier!

We went skiing today and had a blast as usual....hope all my petite friends are doing great!

I don't have time right now to scroll back and see what everyone has been up to but I did see the Ziplock link. I tried this last week with my daughter *who has now joined me on my journey*. She and I both loved it. It's really good when you have a craving for ice cream that you just can't control. I recommend it for anyone who really really needs some ice cream *smiles*.

I lost 2 more pounds..that makes 16. Don't know if I will be able to lose another 4 by March but that is my mini goal..wish me luck *grinz*.

Hi everybody. Hope your Valentine's Day went well and as sugar-free as possible. I am just about to change my stats here as I have lost about 2 pounds. Yippee!!! I am almost in the 120's and just 10 pounds away from my goal...so this way of eating does work let me tell you...I also got back into the pool Saturday....remember last time we had to go stand outside when it was 25 degrees with the fire alarm???? I figured chances of that happening again were slim....Swam for an hour...it felt great.
See the thing with swimming is, when you first start getting really into it again, you are starving afterwards, all day long, then it goes away after about a week. Its weird. It might be that way with some other sports I don't know, but I do an hour of cardio every day on machines and I don't feel that way. Anyhow ladies, stick with it and you will lose!!! Keep posting too, I see its been kind of slow past few days....have a nice day!

Hi Mel,

It is great that your DD is doing this WOE with you! My mom and I are doing it together and it is a lot more fun. She had lost 18, and I have lost 16 since January 1st. The ice cream does sound great....I haven't had a chance to try it yet though. (the lo carb version). We have made zip bag ice cream before, and we wear mittens when we make it.

Hi Swimm congrats on your weight loss too....isn't it great to fit into something that you haven't been able to fit into for a while? It sounds like you excercise a lot...I need to do more of that.

Have a wonderful lo carb day petites!

Hmm ice cream. Im afraid if I try it I won't be able to stop!! I love ice cream!!!! Maybe I will wait until the summer. It is too cold here to think about eating anything like that. I agree that its so much easier to eat like this if the people in your household are doing it as welll....I wish my husband would eat better...it would keep the temptations out of the kitchen.
Well I got on the scale again today because I went way overboard with the dang peanut butter yesterday. I thought I had gained but actually lost!! I don't get it, but I don't care, it said 129.5, and thats the first time in so long since I have seen the two's....I know I shouldn't be a slave to the scale, but what a great feeling to see that. Better then anything I have ever eaten.
We are holding off on our trip to FL for another month...so I have some more time to lose these last 10 pounds...
Carol I do exercise alot, every day for about an hour and 30 minutes...I am sure that accounts for alot of the weight loss. I get up at 4.45 every morning and go to the gym. It just becomes a habit after awhile. If I don't work out, I am so tired during the day like in a fog or something. You know youd think with all that exercise plus being a cleaning houses all day, I'd be about 4 pounds right?? Haha. Oh well, this got a little long, feeling chatty today. talk to you guys later have a great day

Welcome to the petite thread Jobe. It is an amazing way of eating isn't it? Good luck, we are here for you!

Our stats are similar....I would like to get down in the 140's, but have set my goal at 160, as that is what I was when I graduated college....then 20 more lbs after that...but I will take it one step (lb) at a time!

As I always say....We can do this together!

Hi Ranger,

Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner, but this time of year is always busy for freelancers, as we need to do all those reports for our good government. Now that I am done with all the income taxes, GST and PST (or whatever it is called in English), I have a little more time on my hands.

DaVinci syrups are like Atkins syrup. They are sweetened with sucralose. I don’t have any side effect with it so it is my favourite way to enjoy a sweet taste. Aspartame makes my liver angry and sugar alcohols make me produce enough gas to supply a small power plant!

I guess that the main difference with Atkins syrups is the taste. I think Atkins syrups tastes awful but I really enjoy the DaVinci.

Those syrups are great mixed with club soda and a little bit of light cream. It makes a sweet and refreshing drink and I missed those last summer. The “Toasted marshmallow” flavour is great in whipped cream, I had some in my hot cocoa all week long! Most people just use it to sweeten their coffee but I can’t stand a sweet taste in my coffee, so I don’t use it there. I heard it is great to sweeten Ziplock ice cream…

I bought my bottles in a place where they sale coffees. I heard that it is much easier to find in the US than in Canada. You can always order some on line if you can’t find a store near you that sells it.

Hi CalicoCat,

I will have to look for the daVinci syrups they sound good. I have been craving chocolate all day and I think I ate about 4 of the zero carb carbolite bars....and now I know what you mean about a power plant! LOL...now we are all suffering! I will have to stay away from those things....hang in there PKV...the whoosh fairy is bound to show up soon!

Hi Carol,

I am still here, I just have nothing much to report. I didn’t cheat since Valentine’s Day and I didn’t loose weight either. I started exercising again last Friday and manage to do a little exercise everyday for the last 3 days. For the next 5 days, I will try to do some Pilates everyday. It is my own mini challenge. If I don’t loose weight, I can make sure, at least, that what I got is firm :p

I'm in the same boat at you all. I'm 5ft. 4in. and I 150lbs. My husband took pictures of me the other day and I thought I looked like a cow. It was just awful. I have lost 5lbs. so far. I want to be 125lbs. My husband wants to loose about 100lbs. he has lost 10lbs. double what I have. I wish I would have lost 10lbs. already. We've been doing it for about 3wks. TOM is off this time too. I should be having it soon. I guess that might have something to do with it. I have lost inches though. I guess my fatty tissue most be turning into muscle. Are that's what people are telling me. They say it weighs more. I guess I have to be a bit more patient. My hubby also says because he has more to loose he will loose more sooner then I will. I turned 30 and I used to weigh 110 -115lbs. I guess age catches up with you. Anyhow it's kind of good to see that other people have problems like me.

Hi Petites! My name is Suzy, I am 29 and I live in New York City. I was a part of this group a very long time ago--about 2 years ago--and I am glad to see it is still going strong with some new girls!! I found it very helpful and supportive when I was trying to lose some weight for my wedding...Now I am back with a 5month old and I have TONS of weight to lose!! I am heavier than I have ever been and am really unhappy about that. I am currently 131. I have a medium frame and would like to get down to about 105.

I am in my best friend's wedding in the end of April and will use that as my first goal...I have another wedding in May and that is my second goal!

I am a stay at home mom who is trapped inside because it is too cold to go out in the city with the baby, and so all I seem to do is sit around with the baby and eat  Well, it's time to get off my butt and start working out!

I hope you guys have room for me as I could really use the support and look forward to getting to know everyone again!

I'll read back a few pages so I can do a little catching up!

Hi Suzy,

My two other petite friends, Louise V and Donnaj... I don't know where they went....I miss them though. I have not stuck with it though, I did gain about 30 lbs back over a year ago...my cousin came for a 3 week visit from Germany that August and that was it for me....(she is a pastry chef!) Then came school, halloween candy, the holidays etc....but this January I got back on the wagon....I was up to 216 again (originally was 225) so I figured I better get on the ball.

My daughter is now 4 going on 5, and I was finding it hard to keep up with her....so we got a season pass at the local ski area and are trying to get out between 3 and 4 times a week...it is not very aerobic exercise, but at least we are outside enjoying the winter and not inside grazing!

Just today I hit 199, so I feel pretty good about that....I have a fancy cocktail party/weekend symposium to attend in Boston March 5-7th, so I am really trying to lose a couple more lbs by then. Our scuba diving club is having their 50th anniversary Clinic, which is the longest running diving symposium in the world...there are lots of famous divers/photographers/marine biologists/ film makers etc...going to be there....so it should be pretty exciting. I just found out that I will be hostessing in the speakers room (kind of like the green room on Oprah) so I will get to meet them all....Bob Ballard, the guy who found the Titanic will be there! (can you tell I am excited!) Now I have to find another outfit!

I am so shopping impaired! I have been living out in the hills too long....my goats don't care what I wear LOL! I hope I don't come across like a country bumpkin....oh well so what if I do? That is what I am these days! LOL....
So glad to see you are back!

Thanks for all the support guys! I really appreciate it!

Hey everyone!

Carol, it's too bad that those other girls aren't around anymore. I hope they are well. I know what you mean about being shopping impaired. I have to buy a bunch of outfits--we have several weddings to attend this summer and it seems like I have to go to a shower or some sort of party every weekend for the next few months. I am so bummed because no clothes fit me. I am litterally 6 sizes bigger than I was before I got pregnant  I told the woman in the store that today and she almost fell over. So I absolutely hate having to shop now. I have been looking for something for this weekend for 2 weeks now and still have nothing. I think I just expect to be a completely different size than I am and every time I try something on I get a shock!! And I HATE the three way mirrors. Why would I want to look at my butt at all those angles!!!

Hey Calico, do you enjoy Pilates? I just bought a new Pilates tapes that I need to try...I think its called Pilates for Weightloss...

Well, I am here to be back on the diet, but I think I forgot the rules! I will have to dust off my book and reread it. I am a vegetarian I can't for the life of me remember what I ate the last time I was on the plan....

Is everyone doing Atkins or is anyone trying South Beach? I have heard it's a little more userfriendly and it might be a little easier to stick with...If anyone has any success with it please let me know!

Ok, gotta go figure out what I can eat for dinner.
Good Night!

Hi Calico Cat....I know what you mean about the computer time...I only belong to this thread so it is not too bad...but I do belong to a Yahoo goat list, and a cheesemaking list.(I raise dairy goats and am a hobby cheesemaker)...and sometimes it is impossible to keep up. The delete key comes in handy sometime, but not for this list. I make sure I check it at least once a day...I miss you guys if I don't. The constant reminder that there are others out there in the world working toward the same goals as me, keeps me coming back...some days I am cheering on people and other days you all are doing it for me....The other way I look at it is, I might be sitting at the computer and not exercising, but I am at least not grazing in the kitchen and overdoing the carbs! LOL

I commend you and Paula on your excercise challenge...I did go skiing today too...so I got a little...at least we were out in the fresh air!

Paula, I finally did move my butt and did my Pilates Yesterday. Congratulations on not giving up on your treadmill!

SCG, Yes I enjoy doing Pilates. I get results that I can see in the mirror with only 20 minutes 3 days a week. It is time well invested! Besides, I have weak knees, neck and elbows. Pilates are almost the only thing I can do without hurting any of those regions. I have memorized all the exercise that I can do without hurting myself and, selected appropriated music to go with it. If I get bored, I just change the music!
I am not doing Atkins as my profile shows. What I do is between Montignac and Atkins and it works just fine for me!

I hate shopping too. I thought I was the only woman who hates shopping. Maybe we could start a support group or something!

My way of dealing with it, is to wait until I have absolutely nothing to wear, something like 5 years. Then I find the right store, buy everything there and make sure everything matches together. Of course, I have to do this for all four seasons… so I end up shopping almost once a year!

Paula, I am glad I helped you exercise today because you sure helped me every day this week! I did my Pilates today too.

scg, I bought the south beach diet and gave the book away. I actually thought it was harder than atkins. It stresses low fat along with lc. That makes it harder...esp. with cheeses, nuts etc being high fat. It allows for fake fats and not the olive oils etc. (You can have them it just doesn't stress them)

I hate shopping too!!!!I can't wait till the weight is gone so I can go splurge on one nice outfit!!!! On a short frame it doesn't take long to go up a size...but the good thing is it doesn't take long to go down either!!!

I need to get the exercise thing going like pkv and calico. Tonight I am doing leg exercises. I always feel so much better when I do.

"Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day"

Today was weigh in day!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost that nagging lil pound that I put on last week *doing a cartwheel*, not to mention another 4 pounds. That makes a total loss of 19 lbs. I was hoping to be below 290 by March. I have three more days counting today to lose 2 lbs. Wish me luck. I was soooo depressed last week about the 1 pound gain, I should have realized it was only temporary. I am moving about better but the cold front that is here is still playing havoc with my right knee and hip, but as the old saying goes "If you don't like Tennessee's weather, stick around a day or so...it WILL change". We are looking at 65, 66, and 65 degrees for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Hopefully, I will feel much better soon. I miss my warm weather.

Ok, enough rambling. Yesterdays food were very strange as was the day. I did stay on program but wanna talk about weird eating....

It was a very very hectic day and I just grabbed what was available that was low carb. Am I sick of hot dogs???? NOOOO, they are Ocscar Mayer Cheese (1 gram carb) *raising eyebrows up and down*.

I feel another energy burst coming on...it's about time!!!!

As for shopping...I DESPISE it lol. Always have. I only do it when I have no other choice lol

What a great day!!! First time in a very long time that I have not wanted to go back to bed on a Monday morning.

This weekend has been a very good one. Vernon and I did a lot of outside adventuring and he noticed how much better I am getting around. He used to have to literally "hold" me to keep me from falling when we would walk down near the lake or the rivers that we like to visit. Sometimes I wouldn't even get out of the Blazer because I was so unsteady on my feet. Not yesterday!!! He held me alright but it sure wasn't because of fearing that I would fall *shy smile*. I was walking all over the place and it was GREAT!!!!! He has been sooooo supportive about my low carbing. He is so proud of me and is sure to let me know this constantly. I am a very very lucky lady indeed.
Exercise: non really other than walking around the riverside but at least I was doing something active...for me that is a great improvement. Sunday is my 'day off' from exercising but I still 'wanted' to be active.

Paula, I can relate to changing dh's eating without him realizing it. Mine exercises with me all of the time but still likes his carbs. The thing is, he has had many a meal with little or no carbs lately and he doesn't even know it LOL.

Dora, Karen and everyone else...thanks for the support. It really does help
I LOVE THIS WOL!!!!
I wish everyone a satisfying low carb day.

Fist of all, Congratulations on your new weight loss Mel :Party:  . I am glad that you also are more steady on your feet and that you enjoy yourself more when you go outside! You are doing great!

Paula, Wow, you did it :cheer: !

I could barely do my Pilates Friday, I had to fit it right after my biggest meal of the day. Not a good idea! I felt slightly nauseated and did a poor workout. My weekend was really hectic and I could not find time to workout. So, I didn’t achieve my goal of 6 days of workout. But I did it for 5 days and it is a lot more than what I would have done without the challenge. Today, a new week is starting and I will try to do better.

How about you Karen, how did your week go?

Thx Calico, it sure feels good to feel alive again.

Well if walking is a good thing...I did good yesterday afternoon. Vernon gets off at 2:30 and gets home around 2:45. I decided, at 2:10 yesterday to walk until he got home. We live on a corner lot at the top of a small hill. The street in front of our house has a dip with our small hill on one end and a slightly steeper hill at the other end. I walked it yesterday 7 times before Vernon came home. I had him check to see exactly how far it was from Stop sign to Stop sign. It was exactly 1/10 of a mile..one way. I had walked it 7 times ...both ways and then walked it once more just so I could have 1 1/2 miles. Actually 1.6 miles. I LOVED IT!!!!! The last two or three times going up the steeper hill was PAINFUL lol but felt sooo good, and I love the 'cool down' coming down the hill then back up the lesser one. I guess it's good to speed up your heart rate, then slow it down some, then speed it backup. It felt good anyway. I had been walking the other road at the side of our property but it is almost flat an I wanted more of a challenge *besides, almost NOBODY sees me on the harder route *grinz*.

Are my legs sore??? YESSSSSS but my new motto is "NO PAIN, NO GAIN". Not exactly original but works for me lol and my b/f reminded me of my new motto this morning as I groaned that my legs hurt. All I could do was laugh and agree with him. Don't ya hate it when they're right lol.

Yesterday's food intake:

Breakfast: sausage sandwith on l/c bread
Snack: l/c peaches and cream yogurt
Lunch: 3 small pcs. left over chicken
Snack: Diet Rite Tangerine with 1 TBSP cream
Dinner: 1 pork chop, 1 C. green beans
Snack: sugar free cherry jello w/1 TBSP. cool whip and Diet Rite Cola w/1 TBSP cream

Water: 64+ ozs.

Exercise: 1.6 miles walked *uphill both ways ...roflmao sometimes I just kill me*

mel I am so excited to hear about your waling...and getting more steady one your feet!!! THATS GREAT!

I didn't do too well the last two days eating wise but I am very sore from movement today...Not officially exercise:) I cleaned at the school today from 3:15 until 5 and then cleaned from 5:15-6 here at home. My legs are soo sore. Lots of walking and vacuming today.
My preschoolers and I had our circle on the trampoline today and at the end all rolled off backward...was fun but I don't think " I " will do that again:)

Forgot my lunch two days in a row even though it was packed so had to eat school food. I WILL REMEMBER TOMORROW!

Karen,
Being a preschool teacher is an exercise all it's own lol. Isn't it good that you have the energy to keepup with those lil scampers. I admire you. We don't have enough good teachers in this country...you go g/f.

I am still in love with this WOL. All I do is think about Atkins and exercise...exercise and Atkins...I think I'm obsessed *smile*. Oh well, at least I'm not obsessed with food anymore *whew*. Well, I still am but in a good way *grinz*. My energy level just keeps increasing a little bit each and every day. I am slowly...very slowly mind you...starting to clean things in my house that I haven't been able to clean in a long time due to such poor health. I mean, sure, I would do the usual laundry, dishes, sweeping, vacuuming (sp? that one always gets me) etc. etc.but that DEEP cleaning that I used to do...it's s l o w l y starting to come back. I try not to push it because I don't want to throw myself into another flare up but it's like I have all of this pent up energy. Vernon loves it *mischievous grin*.

I walked a mile yesterday afternoon and worked out on the Bowflex for 20 minutes. I worked out on upper body because my legs were soooo sore from walking *grinz*. I can't believe I think it feels good to hurt so bad. I will take any suggestions anyone has for relief of muscle soreness lol. I am really pushing myself further and further. I had to tell myself yesterday as I was walking, that each step was making me stronger. I don't think I could do this without the music....thanks, to my adopted baby bro... George *kotc*.

God it feels good to be alive and that is NOT a statement I could have made in the past. I had, at one time, gotten to a point where I wanted and was just waiting to die. How sad huh? Thank goodness for kids, grandkids, a good man....and friends like you people *smile*.

My appetite is increasing, I guess because of the exercise. I am trying to keep it down to a normal level. I hope this doesn't stall my weight loss. If it does, I am still gaining muscle and will just have to regroup on my eating plan. Gotta keep on keepin' on.

Hi Petites!
Missed you all....had a blast in Boston, felt like a big shot...met lots of big names in the underwater world...had my picture taken with Bob Ballard (the guy who found the Titanic) He is wicked nice.

Stuck to the WOE pretty much, but did have a bagel on Sunday....but really cut back the rest of the day....so ..the coolest thing is that I have lost 2 lbs!

I am all inspired to go SCUBA diving again, but need to fit in my wetsuit first....it was custom made for me when I was 159 when I was in college in the 80's...so I have to get back there....38 lbs to go...I have been doing this since Jan 1, and have lost 19 lbs....about 10 per month...it would be awesome if I could keep up that pace....I better start pushing myself to do more exercise, now that the weather is getting better...(boo hoo. the ski area is closing on Saturday!)

Baby goats are due to appear here on the 19th....lots of stuff to do!
You guys are awesome...I am so proud of all of you!

Hi Paula,
I guess I am a SAHM too most of the time, I work part time, but do lots of little jobs. like house sitting, substituting at the school (today I was the lunch lady) sometimes I am the gym or art teacher....seems I better think about finding a real job (not that I don't have a real job now, but one that pays decent $$ and maybe offers insurance!) It is scary to say the least, but I want Jon to find something he is happy with and maybe can progress with. We live in the hinterlands though, so everything is a long drive from here....keep trying to talk him into being a goat farmer! But he is not interested! Oh well, take care, good luck and happy lo carbing!

Hi everyone. I was a sahm for many years. I often watched children in my home to keep a little $$ coming in...better change that to just one $ :) I was so grateful to stay home with the chidlren. When they started school I started part-time as a pre-3 teacher (hence the name pre3teach ) but now I am full-time and pre-k. It is nice to have benifits and the hours but it is also hard to get the kids to appointments go myself etcf. My hours are 9-5 and everything I need closes at 5 or doesn't open at 9 unless it is a grocery store... I may be cutting a few hours for spring..this will be my first summer working. THAT will be hard.!!!!We live on a lake and I love to swim and just lay on rafts etc. with the kids.

Tig I probably am stupid but what does SLP stand for. I could only think of subsitute...then I got lost
Carol sorry too to hear about dh's job. and PKV's also. We haven't had to go through that yet and hopefully won't.
Carol if you are at the school so much maybe there is a job you could get there and get paid. That is how I started.:) I am sooooo thankful for my job. I just love those kids. They make my day! (Good huh since I have to be with them all day:))

Hi Paula...we both have about 40 lbs to go to reach our goals! not too much! We can do that easy, don't you think?

I was at the school yesterday dressed up as Chef Smartini, making mozzarella cheese with the preschoolers...it was fun....and ironic as I subbed at the last minute since the lunch lady got sick at school and I served Chef Boyardee ravioli! (The school is studying Italy at the moment) kind of ironic though.

I would love to get a job at the school though, so subbing is a foot in the door. We have a really small school....60 kids from preschool through 6th grade...jobs are tough to come by here, but the secretary might be retiring in the spring, so I might go for that...as long as there are benefits.

Pre3teach, you must be great with kids...I have subbed in the preschool several times and the primary class K,1& 2 together...and boy am I tired at the end of the day!...now that is a workout!
Have a great lo carb evening my friends!
Carol
PS: Has anyone else tried Ben and Jerry's lo carb ice cream? Swiss vanilla almond or something.....I ate the whole pint last night....naughty me...only 8 net carbs though and cheaper than Atkins ice cream. I tried that tonight too...in a pint container...chocolate peanut butter swirl....actually had a little control and only ate 1/2 cup....it was really good. I have had the Atkins choc. and vanilla in the cups, which didn't seem to taste as good, and more $$, but was definitely a help in the portion control...good night to my petite friends!

Paula,
Of course...tons of melted butter.....what a delicious mess eating lobster! My brother had some lobster traps for a while, so we had them fairly often....now it is just too expensive....I am so funny, I will pick through the bodies of everyones and get the meat out of every possible place....nothing goes to waste...DH can't be bothered with it, but I have a ball.

I remember going diving with the club, and everyone brought up a bunch, we would take the boat to an island outside of Boston harbor, build a fire and cook them in a seaweed pit on the beach...talk about fresh....those were the days!

We went to the grocery store the other day and there was an 8 lb lobster...at about 80 bucks...that would have been some dinner! DD loves to look in the tanks at them.
Ok, enough of this...I am getting hungry!
We had quite a blizzard here today....only about 3 inches of snow, but what a wind!
One of my does is getting close to kidding...so I have the baby monitor on in the barn.....hopefully it will be Sunday when it is warm!
take care on our 40 lb countdown!

Hi Karen,
I think we will definitely have a snow day here tomorrow...they let the kids out of school at 12:45...we already have about 6 inches but at the rate that it is coming down, the morning shall be interesting.....just got down shampooing the dog...what a mess...the $35 you pay the groomer is worth it!...but it had to be done...I can still faintly detect the skunky odor on one ear...she must have got it right in the face....she was actually pretty good in the bathtub...I think she was relieved to get rid of the smell too....I used hydrogen peroxide with 1/4 cup of baking soda and Dawn dish detergent....it worked really well....they say you might need to do it twice...but we will see how it is when she is dry...(she is a German Shepherd)...wow I am tired...

We had chicken and broccoli for dinner with a salad...sometimes I don't bother cooking a starch for DH and DD and most times don't seem to mind. When we have baby goats...cooking kind of takes a back seat for me...LOL...

I tried some of the Carbolite chocolates today...they are good...0 net carbs and they take care of my cravings...I know some don't think they are good, but if it prevents me from binging on real chocolate....I guess they aren't bad for me.....I definitely think it slows down the weight loss, but better to stay the same than to be gaining.

Well I better go scrub down the bathtub and take a shower myself...then out to feed the baby goats...(I wish they were eating better...then I might be able to get some sleep!LOL)
We can do this together!!

Hi Lilrose,

Yep, the less you have to lose, the longer it takes to lose a few pounds! It can be quite depressing sometimes, to makes all those efforts and don’t see a reward on the scale once a week. Well, when we don’t have much to lose, we lose less that a pound a week, most of the time.

If you want to make sure you are doing everything right, I suggest using www.fitday.com if you don’t already use it.

Hey girls! I'm a second time newbie on Atkins. Currently 5'2" 121 lbs.

My background summed up :
I did Atkins last year after I had my son. When they told me to eat for 2 I took it literally! I gained 50 lbs that weren't baby. I took being prego an excuse to finally EAT. I was always overly concious of my weight and how much I ate so when I knew I HAD to eat to make sure my baby was as healthy as could be you better believe I took advantage of the get out of skinny free card! LOL.

So...I lost 20 lbs after getting out of the hospital by drinking TONS of water and walking an hour a day M-F and cutting out ALL sweets. Then I got stuck. So I took my Moms (Birth Mom & Mother in Law) advice and went for Atkins. Lost another 20 lbs. Then I half slacked off until now. Dieting, exercising, getting down to 117, getting cocky, gaining it back. Yada Yada Yada...

So here I am about 8 month later still the same weight I was after I stopped Atkins. (Atleast I maintained though! *dancing*) I am looking to fit into my pre-prego jeans again and being able to sport my Victoria Secret bathing suit. (Pictures in my journal to make me stick to this.) I saw this thread and found it to be the closest thing to what I needed in a support group.

What tall people don't understand is being pudgy shows more on short chicks. And it all goes right to our butts / hips / butt. The bonus? Guys really dig cute lil' short chicks!!! WOO HOO!!! Ok, no more blabbing. Just wanted to say HI!!!

Good news on the job front for my husband....sort of...a guy at work will be out with an injury for 3 months, and they asked my DH to fill in for him until he returns....sort of unfortunate for that guy, but at least it give DH a stay of execution of sorts for a couple of months....phew....
Take care my petite friends!

Oh Ranger I am so happy for you (sorry the guy got hurt) but that gives a little cushion. I had a lightbulb moment regarding my cheating. It is in my journal.

How is your mom doing? My mom is the skinny, run every morning type. She is very happy I am lc'ing although I am not sure she understands the whole thing and is sorta supportive.

Keep me posted on the babies. I have 3 cats and would have more if I could

Hope the weather warms up.....are you still able to ski?

Hi Paula, Thanks! My mom has lost 22 lbs, but has stayed there for three weeks...she told me she ate some chocolate yesterday, as she was frustrated with not losing...I know that is hard....it stopped snowing yesterday morning, but now is really cold again...it sort of deters you from wanting to get outside and move around...I did ski a little on Sunday with DD, but my back is still killing me, and I shouldn't have....I have a call into the chiropractor to set up an appointment....I hate that feeling, not being able to do what you want.

The last weekend for skiing is coming up...now they are closed during the week...so I don't know if I will make it or not.

I am getting kind of discouraged about not losing much either....I think I am getting bored....I better look up some new recipes.

I am glad that you had a lightbulb moment...you are so good to document it in your journal! I think I will go back to writing things down as well perhaps that will get things moving for me as well.
Take care....teacher conference today! better scoot...

Just found this thread and I've been on these forums for weeks....Anyway glad I found you all.

One question I wanted to ask is.....Do some of you feel ok at the weight you are, but know because you are short you "should" weigh less?

I'm 123 right now and its the lowest I've been in about 6 years. Honestly though if I weren't 4'10.5" I'd feel just fine, but everything says I'm supposed to weigh less so that is where I'm headed, hopefully. So far since Feb 16th I've only lost 7.5 pounds and I have not been cheating either. Its coming off extrememly slow, oh well...better slow than not at all. :p

Jenny, Welcome! Yes at 123 I felt wonderful even though I knew I really should or could be lower. I had always been about 112-116 when I was in my 20's during babies...I don't feel very good at the weight I am even though it is only 10lb as you said...On our petite frame it really makes a difference! I sometimes notice people who weigh in the 200's with the same measurements as mine.

Eating going well...I am trying someting alittle different. I am not snacking at all and drinking much more water...no diet pepsi. I spent alot of time in the bathroom so I know I am losing water weight today.
Have a great week and have a GREAT time in Florida PKV!!!!

Let your body and clothes determine where you stop. It is all about the way you feel not what the scales say. Go till you feel good and your clothes are fitting the way you want them to. Being short just means we show weight more. Good luck and Happy low carbing :wiggle:

HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP!!!!!!

Petite Ladies I need your support! Please! I know that Low-Carb is the only way to keep my gut away! I have been straying and riding a carb roller coaster for months and months now. I came back to the board in hopes of getting the pounds and sizes back off!

I am currently hovering around 160, Pants size 12/14.
My goal is 140?? Pants size 8/9 ..I don't even know.

I do work out at the gym some but want to kick it back up to at least 5 days a week. 1 Hour Cardio/Weights.

I would like to do 14 days no cheating as my re-induction.

Can you guys help cheer me on? PLEASE!

It's sounds like you are all doing great, Keep up the good work.

Of Course we are here to cheer you on :cheer: Maybe you can get a buddy to re-induct with you. I would love to but going out of town on Wednesday. I will be back on April 7th. I want to start an induction then. Either way I am here to cheer you on. Are you taking measurements? I was really upset I wasn't losing either and then found I had lost a lot of inches.

The thought of wearing shorts has scared me into staying on the wagon

Oh I almost forgot, I just started counting calories along with the carbs and it has made a huge difference. do you use Fitday?

Hi my fellow petites!

I ´m back!...coming from a weird, unknown and confortable place to stay regarding weight loss. After months of having it like a priority in my life, I have been experienced a kind of detachment about it. Suddenly, I didn´t feel fat anymore and a cheat was not longer a cheat. I didn´t go completely off of plan but I´ve ate a piece of chocolate cake here, a pecan pie there, ice cream, some whole grains...and even bread. The interesting thing is that I didn´t live it like cheats just like special ocasions...and the amazing part of it is that I have been able for the first time in my life to mantain my weight naturally. (However, I weighted myself every single day...just to be sure! The difference was that I was not expecting a new low and I didnt get crazy about 2 or 3 pounds up)

For the last couple days I seriously asked myself if I really wanted to go for thos last elusive pounds, after all I´m a confortable size 6 (was my goal size)...and Yes I want to go for it! I changed my goal at the profile (from 130 to 120) just to remind myself that Im not yet where I want to be.

MUNIA, dont get discouraged. Weight loss is a difficult process for the vast majority of us. I´m so glad that you are in your 3rd induction day (I;m in my third day as well), we are getting back on track, take just one day at a time. This is a long trip so we better take it easy and enjoy it....

DESHUKEL, of course we are here for you, we can do this together

Deshukel - Good luck!! It does at times feel like an up hill battle but its better to keep at it, even if you never lose a pound (which you will of course :p ), than go another year gaining more.

There's this little voice in my head that says, when I'm not pregant or nursing, I can NEVER get above 130. Because I know when I'm there (130) I HAVE to get on a better eating plan (keeping in mind I should weigh like 115). It just a way I have to live, or I'd be heavy like the rest of the petite ladies in my family. But it becomes obsessive and I do not like that, but the fear of (dont' hate me for saying it) "looking like my mother" won't let me forget.

Sometimes I wish that I felt more like my sister. I mean, while she is about 65 pounds overweight, she just doesn't worry about it as much as I do. And while its nice to never have to lose more than 15 pounds it also is crappy to have it on my mind all the time.

So I don't know really what my point was when I started typing all that...sorry. :daze:

Do any of you wish it wasn't on your mind so much? Like you just ate like a "normal" person who is healthy? I mean if I do ever get to my goal, which is now looking unatainable, seems like I'll Never be able to just live like a normal healthy person who eats when they are hungry and stops when they are full.

I mean if I do ever get to my goal, which is now looking unatainable, seems like I'll Never be able to just live like a normal healthy person who eats when they are hungry and stops when they are full.

I guess many of us have felt this way, at least I do. I worried about my own obsesive behavior regarding weight loss, how healthy could be for me to keep track of everything I eat (carbs, protein, calories, saturated fat, poly unstaurated, mono...ratios....:daze:) and to keep records of my measures and my weight?

However, now I think that its a normal part of the process of developing new skills to take control of my weight for life. Being somewhat obsessive have helped to know my body much better and to be self aware of portions and to do better choices on the way I eat.

After months of low carbing trying to loose weight I needed a break (not of low carbing but of the idea of needing to loose weight). As I posted in my latest post here, I did it and it felt good! It gave me a glimpse of how maintenance could be once I reach goal and I liked it! :) I trust that when I get there I would be able to mantain my weight in a natural way...

One question I wanted to ask is.....Do some of you feel ok at the weight you are, but know because you are short you "should" weigh less?
Jenny

I do! I´m 5,1 and I weight 137, wear a confortable size 6 and I´m feeling good under my skin...By any of those charts of healthy weight I´m in a healthy range.
108-118????? No way! 125 would be perfect for me no matter waht the charts say! Loosing 22 pounds more would take me to a size 2 and I dont want to go there...

Have a great week all!

Hi everyone,

I have just started atkins (second attempt after derailing at X-mas time) again today. I've been looking at this forum for a few weeks but only joined yesterday and only discovered this thread today. I'm 5'1'' and although I have never been skinny, I've been healthily curvy. By the end of University I'd put on about 20lbs, mainly from bad diet and alcohol. I lived on bread and crisps for 3 years  I started atkins last summer but didn't follow it strictly although I managed to lose about 8lbs, and I was pleased with how I looked. I tend not to concentrate on actual weight but how my clothes feel, if my jeans fit nicely I'm happy :D Since X-mas I've put this weight back on and a few lbs more. I'm now hoping to shift it all in time for my summer holiday in june.

Look forward to sharing with you and making friends

Hi,

I was always around 115-120 pounds. I've never had a completely flat stomach, my arms have never ever ever been thin, I think I was born with wings!! Also the fact that i'm 36D makes me look bigger as well. I was always very happy this way, not skinny, but healthy and happy with the way my clothes fitted. I'm hoping to get back there. I've never really paid attention to scales in fact I bought my first scale 5 months ago for atkins, I've always just relied on my clothes, which was why when i went up a size I thought oh dear maybe I need to stop and think about this or the sizes are going to keep going up! I think it depends on how your body is proportioned. Since I have a large chest and short body, the rolls accumulate quickly!! Whereas my legs are long for my height therefore i can carry more weight there.

I hope you make it to your healthily curvy body :D

Off on vacation tomorrow so I am dropping by to wish everyone a great lc week and weekend. I will be back to visit on April 7th.

I made it through March going up and down the scale with the same 3 lbs. Still stuck at 165 today.

April goals....continue to exercise daily, keep the water intake (I think I have drank more water this past month than in my lifetime) and after April 7th no more eating out.

Take care everyone :)

Welcome Tammy and Hello to everyone else!!

Good job on the water PKV!!

Tammy , I hope you don't mind me mentioning that it seems as if you are avoiding mentioning what your actual weight is. The only reason I'm saying this is, it helps to know that we all come in different shapes and sizes even if we are "short". Everyone carries their weight differently.

I myself weigh around 160 today and can wear a size 12/14 pants comfortably...I also have a "round" behind!!

At 135 I am a size 7 (the last I recall) At 120 I would be gaunt, seriously. We are all just so different.

As you were saying, it isn't necessarily about the weight, but I think we shouldn't be afraid to admit what it actually is.

Anyway.. Let's keep up the good work and stay LC!!!

Hi Everyone,
I just realized there was a board for small girls like us and I am so happy I found it! After a week of reading all the general posts about people with 100's of lbs. to lose and how fast they are losing it I was like what?!?!?!
So this seems like a good place for me. I'm a 20 year old (almost 21..finally!) college student..i'm about 5'3" and 126..would like to lose around 10-12 lbs. I have always been curvy (34D) but recently my lifestyle has caused me to gain some weight in the tummy/hips/thighs area. If there are any other college students out there who would like to chat about goals, etc. I would love to...it seems like this is one of the most difficult times in life to just settle in and do Atkins right (too many parties, road trips, etc.)
I did some modified low-carbing before spring break this year, and along with working out a lot, it worked great....now I'm back from spring break and a lot of cheating so I am trying to lose the weight I gained and keep it off..
ok that turned into a long post!
hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi everyone!

Healthily curvy… I love this expression! In fact it suits me so well that I think I will use it in my signature as soon as I enter my health weight range. I think that it starts at 132 for someone 5'1.5'' . Fitday give me a range from 99.52 to 134.49 lbs. That is the widest range I ever saw for me! I can tell you I would look awfully sick at 99.52 lbs! And I was weighting 134.5 lbs this morning and it doesn’t feel healthy yet. Maybe it is only that 0.01 lb that I need to lose!

The weight is going slowly but it is going. I remember that some time ago, on this thread, someone ask if we need to also watch our calories when we have less weight to lose. I didn’t have enough experience to answer at the time but here is what has been going on with my body for the last few months:

If I don’t worry about calories and eat as much food as I want, I take around 1500 calories daily and my weight stay stable. If I watch my calories, I can lower to an average of 1300 and lose weight slowly. I am not starving, just being extra careful.

Have a nice low carb day!

Hi there girls!

Isn'it the "healthly curved" expression a whole concept of well being?! ;)

Calico, you're doing great! We both have very similar stats! I"m 5,1 and between 136-140 until last friday that I decided that enough is enough and decided to go below 136 no matter what. 136 have been a hard number for me to beat! Nice to know a wide range of a healthy weight!

Right now I'm counting calories..I'm trying to stay below 1500 and I'm averaging 1460...It seems very difficult for me to stay below that maybe because I exercise intensively?... I have been mildly hungry.

Yesterday I was 136. TOM arrived today with a gift of 2 pounds. I know it is water but still it sucks...I'll hang in here, working seriously for a whoosh after TOM. :)

Jelwz, feel very welcome! A little more than 21 years here  (almost 37!) but with a much younger spirit ;) I know how difficult is to make a good nutrition a priority in life while we are in college and other priorities come first. Keep your chin up! It is not a matter of racing but of persistance, patience and support.

Have a nice day all!

Hiya all!

I'm 5'0" tall and I'm aiming to weigh about 125 lbs, which was the weight I was at when I graduated from high school (I dieted all throughout senior year to get that low -- I hardly ate anything!). My first few years of university, I gained about 15 lbs. Once I started dating my bf in 2000, I started to balloon. In the almost 4 years we've been together, I went from 140 lb to 168.5 lb this past January, my heaviest ever. I curse him and his incessant hunger and turbo powered metabolism. So I decided to finally do something about my blubber!

The thing that sucks about being short is that weight gain shows so easily! I'd often complain "If only I was 5'6", then I wouldn't look so fat!"

Just out of curiosity,

What pants size is goal?

How about a waist measurement?

Reading all of your posts about how you want to be 120 and stuff makes me second guess my goals.. Maybe I should be aiming lower?

Maybe after my reinduction that I'm doing I should start watching my calories too.????

Morning fellow petites!

Rebma, feel very welcome in our petie thread!

Doing fine but still stuck at 138.

Just out of curiosity,

What pants size is goal?

How about a waist measurement?

When I began low carbing last june, I was size 10-12 at my 165. I was aiming for a size 6!. Now, 28 pounds lighter at my current weight I can fit confortable at most size 6. Last week I wanted to get a jeans and the one that fits was size 8.
My waist measure was 37.5 and now is 32 inches

Reading all of your posts about how you want to be 120 and stuff makes me second guess my goals.. Maybe I should be aiming lower?
Maybe after my reinduction that I'm doing I should start watching my calories too.????

Since june my weight drops slowly but steadly until january without counting calories, I only had a minor stall of 4 weeks when I hitted 150 but then began to drop again until I got to 138 on january. Then it completly stops in there. I did everything right for 6 weeks (exercise included) and there was no way I could get lower consistenty. Some days I got to 136 and then up again. Since I'm feeling more confortable with my body I enter in a kind of maintenance mode and was maintaning in a very confortable way until last friday when I got aware that I'm not at goal yet and decided that I was ready for an extra effort to drop some more pounds.

I decided to count calories then AND I lower my goal to 120 but it was more as a reminder that I still have pounds to go and it is better to keep going and to do not get very confortable yet ;) I guess that 125-130 would be perfect for me.

So, my advice would be to do not count calories while you're still loosing. I found no reason for that. It could be a long journey I would prefer to travel "light" and the calorie counting makes it a lilttle heavier.

Have a nice day all!

Hi there, Munia!
Sorry to hear you´re struggling. I have been there!
Just remember that it is a matter of insuline disbalance. As soon as you can get it stable you´ll feel much better and you´ll have control again. So, go ahead. Clean your house of all carby things...then go to the grocery store and buy healthy choices for you, fish, cheese, vegetables...and when the cravings hit, go ahead and make a delicious low carb meal to eat. Some vegetables with melted cheese on top...yummy! It will become easier once your insuline begin to stabilize.
Forgive yourself. OK...you felt off the wagon. It happens, Munia. It have happened a lot of people here. We are not inmune to that. This is not a speed race it is a matter of persistance. You can do this, you know it because you have done it already
Spend some time with us at the forum. There´s a lot of motivation here. Remeber you´re not alone. We are with you!
Keep your chin up!

Nothing much happens really -- I mean, nothing new. The same old story over and over again. I get along to day 5 or 6 of induction somehow. Then comes along TEMPTATION in the guise of a sweet (generally) or bread or rice (rarely) or I go to a party which I simply cannot avoid because of social reasons.... and wham --- I binge... and how I binge!!! For 7 .. 8 .. 9 days I carry on as if this is my last day in this world and I have to have this sweet and that pasta and this cake and so on and so forth. I get puffed up, simply bloat with water and then I go back to induction. Even going back is not so simple and easy.. I start with the pious thoughts -- this is the day.. I won't cheat anymore! I have two eggs and a cup of tea for breakfast and then in the afternoon I cheat again thinking... come on, one more day of cheating won't harm me that much after all, it's only one more day!! As I said this is an addiction..

All my good works going down the drain! I had lost so many pounds and now they are creeping back again steadily.

Hello Everyone

I am back from Florida and trying to catch up on what I have missed. Had a fanstastic trip and glad to be home.

Munia I am so sorry you are struggling. I am a person that cannot have a legal cheat. Like a atkins bar. Once I start to cheat I cannot stop throughout that day. I agree with Dora about ridding your house of everything. I have to have a talk with myself every Friday (my fall off the wagon day) and be a cheerleader in my head. I see everyone else losing weight and it is hard not to be let down that you are not. Munia I am going back to the Atkins basics starting tomorrow, do you want to join me? Good luck to you

Munia, I don’t know if this will be any help for you, but it works for me.

One thing that helps me get back on track after I cheat is to come back to this forum as soon as possible. If I wait for a few days, I will continue cheating for a few days so coming back to the forum right after I cheat helps me a lot.

The other thing is that I never did induction. OK, I don’t lose fast, but I don’t feel like I am on a diet so I think that I am not tempted to cheat as much as if I did induction.

Everyone is different so I hope you find whatever is easiest for you soon. If it is too hard to follow for you, chances are that you won’t stick to it.

I have discovered DaVinci syrups in February and it is now taking care of my sweet toot. Now I really, really don’t feel like I am on a diet.

Make your life easy, it will be…

Hi Munia, :nono: Don't get too down on yourself!!!

We are here for you and you WILL overcome this. I have to agree with the earlier post..Maybe induction is too strict for you to maintain. How about working at the OWL phase. Also use Splenda, Sugar free jello, DaVinci Syrups....r something that won't induce physical cravings but will still satisfy your sweet tooth.

Sounds like maybe you are a binger.... Have you read Dr. Phils weight loss book. It is a great tool to get at the root of your eating habits. I think that a combination of LC and getting Control of your eating habits is really the KEY for many people including myself.

Take care.. and stay LC!!!

I decided to start re-induction last week but fell off the wagon as far as liquor goes.. I did stay LC though.
Yesterday I felt horribly fat and down so I went and worked out for close to an hour . When I weighed at the gym I was 158.5 so I am thrilled that at least the scales are moving in a downward direction.

I think I may have lost an inch off of my waist, but my measuremeants might be off.

Any hopefully the re-induction has got me off to a good start on being a LCer again. I cant wait to reach 149!!!

How much weight did you have to lose before anyone noticed? I'm so disappointed b/c even though I've lost 15 lbs off my 5'0" frame, no one has really noticed! My 5'6" sister, on the other hand, has lost maybe 7 lbs (without effort, no change to diet or anything) and people are raving about how good she looks! Humph!

I'm one of you--5'2 1/2", but a shortie who gained a LOT of weight.

Can I join in?

I have gained so much, I don't know whether I can realistically set a goal of what I weighed at my best--110.

After all, I abused myself and food for 30+ years.

I wonder, did any one else do what I did?

I always had to work hard at not gaining weight--really hard. Couldn't eat normally, or I got fatter.

Finally, I gave up, ate what I wanted, and you know the rest. I never stopped gaining.

I did the Optifast before Oprah. . .I lost and regained hundreds of lbs.

But I think this WOL will work--but don't know where I will level off.

Any ideas? (I'm 56. . .and tend to be sedentary, but working at turning that around.)

Dora, Congratulations on attaining a new low!!! :yay:  :yay: You are doing great!

Rebma, I had one friend who noticed after 15 lbs. But most people notice only after I tell them that I lost 20 lbs since last September. I don’t expect them to really notice before 30 lbs or so. As I didn’t expected them to notice when I gained 10 lbs, I don’t expect them to notice when I lose 10 lbs. Those people always see us fully clothed. One day, they will see you in very flattering black pants, or something like that and all of a sudden, they will realise: wow, she is not fat anymore! On the other hand, people who see you naked like your DH, SO, BF or whatever, should see a difference sooner. My DH swore that he saw a difference after only 10 lbs. I didn’t see a difference in the mirror before 15 lbs. I could feel a difference in my clothes before, but not see it in the mirror.

Magnamater, welcome! I know what you mean about “Couldn't eat normally, or I got fatter.” It has always been that way for me too. I never gave up but manage to go as high as 158 lbs. For someone who watched closely what she was eating it is a lot. I was getting desperate. How could I be so fat and eat so healthy? I am so, so, glad that I found out about carbs! I am still eating healthy but instead of getting bigger and bigger, I get slimmer and slimmer! The judgment of other people was hurting very much at the time. People wanting to help me were telling me: “You only have to do a little exercise and you will lose that weight”. I was already at the gym 3 times a week, talk about a little exercise!

Since I found this WOE, I don’t mind that I will never eat normally for the rest of my life. I eat delicious and healthy food, I am never hungry and I will soon be at goal weight! Besides, I still can cheat about once a month for special occasions, like Easter… So it’s not like “Never again”, it’s more like “Next time”.

Hi Everyone,
Munia, I know exactly what you are going through...I just binged for about 2 weeks! Argh....I don't know how I didn't gain anything....a miracle I guess.....I tend to binge when stressed, which has been a lot lately....guess I need to read Dr. Phil's book too...(in my spare time!LOL).

Yesterday I started induction again too....hopefully I can stick with it.....truthfully, I have been just so busy here with the animals....the goats are kidding, and we had 3 complicated births...now am trying to save a preemie baby goat boy.....and his mother....spending lots of time in the barn and the boy is in the house under a heat lamp.....he was only 2 lbs when he was born, but he is gaining....I am just so busy, I haven't been taking time to make decent meals for the family....throwing a frozen pizza in the oven works for them, but not for me! This baby goat has been more work than a human baby!...ahh the joys of farming!
Well people, I need a kick in the butt, to get me started again....I am sure this is the place to be....PKV....how was Florida?....it is cold and rainy and muddy here right now...Florida sounds great!
We can do this together....Carol

Hello Ranger! It is so good to hear from you! I understand what you mean when you say that you don’t have time to cook a decent meal! It reminds me when we move last year! I gained so much weight that way! But you are doing something right, since you didn’t gained any weight. Congratulations! Are you more confident that you will be able to maintain your weight after you reach your goal?

If your are ready to start to lose again, we are here for you!

What about everyone else, how was your Easter holliday?

Hi petites,

I just found this thread. I surely belong here, as I am 4'11.5". This is a really, really low day, as I'm on the eternal plateau. I've been an avid exerciser for years and have lots of muscle, but the ugly stuff is hanging on for dear life in all the wrong places.

Ranger, too many jellybeans? Good! Now you can wait for another year before you eat some more!

Paula, glad your DH still has his job!

This morning is so great… I am back to my pre-Easter weight! I am actually glad that I celebrated and ate what I wanted on Easter. I think it was great for my morale and now I can start losing again. I am glad that I went back on plan right away on Easter Monday. I think it is the key to my success, cheating when it is really a special occasion and going back on plan the day after. It can be so hard, sometimes to resume low carbing after a cheat…

Happy low carbing everyone!

Hi Petites,

I had a great easter. I did very well with eating sensible food (no choc!) but I must admit that I did have a few glasses of wine :( but I enjoyed every one of them. Calico I've been the same weight for the past 3 weeksas well so I'm going to do more rigorous exercise this week to help tone me up. Hopefully we'll see the scale moving again soon.

I am so glad I found you all. I too am 5'2" although hubby says 5' 1.5" he likes to make me shorter. I just re-started induction. Last year I made it all the way through induction and then lc for awhile, switched to the Fat Flush program to balance hormones and really have sworn off all bread since then, but let too many other bad carbs back in. I also seem to starve myself allday and binge at night.
I am the mother of 5 (four of my own and a step daughter) and witht the kids around its hard not to pick here and there. Best thing is I know how much better I feel. My sinus problems have all but stopped and I rarely take meds which I took everyday. So now I just want to lose the weight once and for all.

I am journaling and I am excersising (as of today) and eating right. I have no problem with this wol I don't know why I stray.

Reading all your stories is just great. I would love to just get down to 125 but my goodness could I ever be less than 120???? I would need a boob job cuz they would probably be flaps of skin. They just might be at 125 I haven't been there in 7 years at least.

Anyways, I look forward to your messages as it is nice to know that there are so many others in this boat.

And just a thought, after 114 pages, do you think it is time to start a new challenge board for this???? I am new so I don't know what the protocol is.

Have a great day.

I just hit 80% of my goal today and I am so proud!

When I first started, I kept telling myself that it would be so great if only I could go back to 142! I chose 128 as a goal because I knew it was in my health weight range and I felt silly to pick a goal that was over health weight range. I never thought that I could actually reach it!

Tammy, is the extra workout helping?

Lcmomof5, how is your first week of induction going?

thanks for asking and good for you calicocat. You can be my inspiration. I will look at your journal if you have one.
First week is going good. I am in Ketosis and my mouth is terrible but I keep telling myself it is good, very good to be in it. I have had headaches on and off but not bad and again I know this is actually good too. I got TOM yesterday so I am holding off posting my weight till Monday, which will be officially one week.

Very proud of myself at an Applebys yesterday to celebrate dear sis in laws bday and I had a weight watchers dinner, primarily salad with skewered shirmp in a lemon vinergarette dressing. Tasteless though, so got some ranch dressing and that made it better. But no potatoes, no pasta, I did have one margarita, but really kept my carbs in check for the whole day so I don't think that made a difference. I can taste that I am still in Ketosis.

I will post Monday on pounds and inchs since I am keeping track of them too.

My only complaint is not enough excersise. I hate excersise, but I did get in two workouts this week and hoping for three weightlifting workouts next week.

Have a great day. Oh, I realized I could start the threads at the most recent first and that helped. I understand about not starting a new one, that makes sense.

I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm 4'10" and have been LCing for a year. I am trying to move into OWL (20-30 carbs a day) and now that I won't have a heart attack I am bumping the excercise up to 6 days a week.

I can totally relate to not being able to "eat normal" I figure working out 6 days a week is the only way I will be able to eat more than 1200 cals a day and not gain.

Hi Dinky,
I know what you mean. I'm also petite, before I had children I weighed 102 lbs. and at 4' 10" tall and now weighing 191, started LC at 208 I feel extremely huge still. I don't think I can ever be that petite again, like you mentioned if I can get down between 115 and 125, I'm hoping that I will be satisfied.
It's hard when you start feeling too comfortable in big sizes, I dress well, but I'm as big side ways as I am tall. ha! ha! not quite. Surely feels that way.
Good Luck! You will do it, the main thing is not too give up on ourselves. It seems to take longer, because I know I am pretty compact, the fat is hard and not loose or sloppy, so I have to work twice as hard it seems.

Bye for now

And...since we're all close to the ground here...can your recommend any websites that teach you how to dress to camouflageyour flaws? I think I know some basics, but I could always use more tips. Let's face it...the designers and catalog companies use tall, thin people for a reason!

Hi petites!

Welcome to Marge22 and sqkitty!

Things have been going well. I still haven't seen any weight loss since the first 4lbs in induction but I have started exercising and can see a difference in my shape and the way my clothes feel. I think an exercise challenge is a great idea. I joined the summer challenge but I think it would be great to be part of a few as that will give me more motivation.

I have to plan my meals as well or I'm tempted to cheat. Like last week i didn't have time to make lunch and ended up having to have a sandwich! :( So now I just do alot of cooking on the sun so I have my breakfast and lunches ready in advance.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, petites...

I am diligent, I am committed...but it doesn't work. So...I had a doctor appt. yesterday. I went to an endo to see if I have any hormonal factors going on. It was awful. She treated me like an idiot. I believe doctors look down upon women who are concerned about their weight. A person's self-esteem is NOT important. What do they teach them in medical school???

The only positive thing was I measured 5' instead of 4'11.5".

Deshukel,

Thanks for asking. I plateaued after the first week of induction. I tried induction two more times but couldn't handle it, got depressed, etc. I'm getting about 30 - 40 grams carbs per day. I've been reading Schwarzbien principle (among others) thinking I need to change plans but I've become too confused and weary to do it on my own so I decided I need help. I was hoping to get some knowledge about everything...thyroid, adrenals, cholesterol and even estrogen. Sadly, I don't think this was the right doctor for me. Like others, she tells me I "just have a slow metabolism" , probably because both my parents were diabetic. Not what I wanted to hear.

sqkitty,

Thanks. Yes, I do believe that LCing has been good for my health. I guess I just have to be careful not to go too low or my brain suffers. I won't take meds, and like Schwarzbien says, SSRI's won't work if there isn't serotonin to reuptake. I've read other books that caution women not to go too low because that slows the thyroid.

You're right, I don't have that much to lose. Alot of my weight is muscle, but I do have waist rolls and back fat, and that, I believe is hormonal. I'm glad I found LCing because I'm sure it would be much worse, so if anything I need to be thankful!

Anyway, I'd like to encourage you all to exercise! If you haven't tried it yet, give T-Tapp a shot. It doesn't work the same for everybody, but there are quite alot of converts who swear it has done more for them than weight training, marathon running, etc.

Worst, if I buy a pair of flair or boot cut jeans and do alterations, *POOF*

I hear ya about the jeans. I have to make sure that they don't trail along the floor. I only have 1 pair that i can wear with flats, the rest have to be with my 4" platforms! But at least with those i'm 'average' height and the heels make you look slimmer! :D

Hope everyone has a great wednesday!

PLATFORMS...one of the greatest inventions!!! I hope they never, ever go out of style again, if so, I will protest!!!

Does anybody else have problems with sleeves? I got tired of shortening them, now I just fold them under or roll them up, but it's a pain.

What's the best way to tell if you're small, large or medium boned? I never was really clear on that.

Dormouse,

I've been doing NHE also, but what is new varient? I assume that's your arm in the pic? I can't look like that :( . I've got scads of muscle, but the body fat will not budge. No definition. It's just tragic.

Wow, this thread is so active again!

Greenwings, yes I have a problem with sleeves. When I buy some long ones, I make an effort to buy it at a “Petite” store. When I do, they are still a little too long but not much. Otherwise, under a jacket, I tend to wear short or no sleeves, even in the winter. But I have to be sure I will keep the jacket on. For a blouse, I will move the wrist button.

No matter what I do, I still have plenty of long sleeves that I fold! :p

Have a nice day!

Greenwings. It's NHE with some slight changes. Smaller carb-loading because I'm too small to get away with anywhere near as much as the plan suggests and I do count calories, again because I'm female and short, every calorie counts even the 'good' ones. It was dubbed New Varient by my husband who thought it sounded like CJD.

I've really noticed a sudden difference in the way I look in the last few weeks. Basically since I got to about 133/4 lbs. I've got some photos of me at 138 lbs and there's not a lot of definition at all.

I've still got a lot of fat in my legs, hips and tummy though. Not a lot of definition in my thighs. :(

I've been on it for two years this month. I stopped losing when I went off induction. I've tried induction two more times and got too depressed to continue. I think my body needs practically no carbs, but my brain needs lots. How's that for a dilemna? I've been looking at other plans, but I'm mentally "stuck." I think Rob's plan is wonderful...if it works.

I am so happy to see this thread active again! Nice to meet everyone. My computer was down for a few days so I feel like I need to catch up. My personal exercise challenge is going well! Hope everyone has a good day!

Dormouse, I am AMAZED by your pictures and your tremendous progress!

I've been aprehensive about hitting the weights myself b/c I'm short and I inherited my dads bulky/muscular build. Always had the fear of becoming a ball of muscle then toned.
I want to do weights but I want to take my time and do it right.

------------------
Funny story about being short at the gym.

The infamous leg press.
I had a trainer give me a free weight session. He lead me to this leg press. The trainer told me to sit back on the chair, place my feet flat on the platform, and he would adjust the weight and remove the pin.

"Ready and go"

the platform moved only an 2 inches downward! I was embarassed that my legs were too short

The trainer apologized to me, said that it never occured to him that not all machines were made for everyone.

A muscle guy doing free weights was watching us through his mirror. He pipped up and informed us that his wife is as tiny as me and that she found other methods besides machines to work her lower body.

"and another thing" Muscle guy chirped

"There's a 'Not in Service' notice on the head rest of the Leg Press."

We all had a good laugh at that.

Hee hee, that was a cute gym story. I've never been able to stick with going to a gym. I did do the Firm workouts for a while at home, but I always felt a little precarious going up and down that fanny lifter thing... they should make one sized for us smaller ladies.

Maybe I need pony up and invest in a shorter step that's more suitable to my size. Because I need to get back to exercising, I felt so good while I was doing it - but I was too impatient for results and I always ended up quitting after a week or two. :(

No kidding! The eliptical machine can be dangerous for the petite.

I once knocked my head on a moving pole!

Even some of the machines are tough to use, so I work with the Swiss ball and free weights when I do go to the gym...ah the gym!

Lol VYYZ! I recall the first time I tried the eliptical trainer I had to really concentrate to not hit myself in the head or something! The pants bug me way worse than the sleeves do.I like to wear really big over shirts and I just roll the sleeves. You can tell I am a child of the grunge era! I can never find things that fit right. Sometimes from a petite shop they will be close but usually not. When I was slim enough I usually bought from the children's store because the pants were always shorter. Maybe I'll be able to do that again soon!
