Don't worry about being a couple of pounds up this morning Ranger, I am sure it is just excess water and you'll lose it quickly. Have a great anniversay.
Great news Dinky on not gaining during a 3 week vacation. I find vacation the worst time and I always put on weight. You are truly an inspiration.
My weight loss has been terrible over the past three weeks, just 1lb. It is almost my TOM, but even so I feel really low about the lack of weight loss. I feel really low in myself, not deeply depressed but definitely overly sensitive and PMT'ish. I have cut out practically all carbs (I'm following the Montignac plan rather than Atkins) but I seem to be in a big stall. I've just upped my fluid intake by drinking 2 litres of water a day, and I do drink about 6 cups of weak black tea each day. We have only had good weather for the last week, and I found it hard to drink enough water when the weather was cold and wet and I think that may have played a part earlier, but not in this last week.
I'm getting desperate now. All I have eaten today has been grilled chicken - yes a piece each for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've also drunk plenty of water and tea. I don't feel hungry but I will be disappointed if I get on the scales tomorrow and find they haven't shifted again.
What would your average intake be to get you out of a stall?
Has anyone got any suggestions that might help me start losing again?

Carol, Don't worry about gaining a couple of pounds. I also gained weight. I don't understand how because I haven't cheated but I am now up to 154, this morning. The only thing I can think is the heat. Our air conditioner hit the dust. I haven't been eating right. I have been eating allot of nuts and pork rinds and not drinking my water. I am a little sad but I know this weight well come off soon. Carol have a wonderful anniversary and may your marriage be long and happy.
Juliette, You are doing everything right to get out of your stall except you are not eating enough. I found out if I eat around 2000 a day it seems to get me out of my stall. It sounds like you getting enough fluid. I have went through 3 stalls since Dec.. Believe me one day , your weight well start to fall again. I know it is frustrating but hang in there.
Dinky, I am very proud of you for not gaining on your vacation. You have something to be proud of. I am glad you had a wonderful vacation.
Welcome Sandy, You well found that these ladies are angels in discuise. They are always there for you with encouragment and understanding. I could have done this without them.
Juliette, thanks for the article. I gave it to my sister and she gave it to her doctor. I also given the article to my doctor.
Well ladies have a great low carb day.

Hi Juliette,
I agree with Donna, I think you need to eat more....if you don't eat enough your body will try to hold onto that weight.....the other thing and I'm not totally sure of...does black tea have caffeine? I believe Atkins mentions that caffeine has an affect on blood sugar and that might be part of the problem.....could you drink a non caffeinated herb tea perhaps as a substitute? Stalls really stink! But the cool part is if you are patient the whoosh fairy will show up eventually!
Well better run and milk the goaties.....thanks for all the anniversary wishes....(I had the makeover, but the picture did not come out very well....I will send it when I figure it out.)
Had a nice lo-carb dinner, but treated myself with an ice cream...it was yummy fortunately no gain this am....but back to induction for me today!
We can do this together!!!!
Oh and have a fantastic birthday Donna...I hope someone gets you a new air conditioner! It must be hot in Virginia....hope your celebration is wonderful!

Carol, I did get the air conditioner for my birthday but I did have a good day. I can't understand how a person can sweat buckets and going to the bathroom so much can still retain fluid but that what I am doing. I am going to try to stay away from any salt today and go back to eating more protein to see if that well flush the water out. It has been very hot and humid here in West Virginia. I had to laugh to see your reply about being hot here in Virginia. You are not the only one to think our little state is still part of Virginia. Some times I wish we were still apart of Virginia. Our economic here is lousy. Our city is so far in the red at the moment we might become a township. I hope everything is going well for you and you had a great anniversary. I am also going back on induction so we will do it together.

Hello all
Carol and Donna, thanks so much for the support and advice. Maybe you are right about me not consuming enough calories - the three pieces of chicken I had were all big and still had their skin on, but still probably not enough calories for the day. :D
You might also be right about the tea. I drink it very weak, but it is not decaffinated. I would hate to go without my Earl Grey tea, but luckily I know I can get a decaff version.
Today I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, the same for lunch plus a small tomato, and a big salmon fillet and half a pepper for dinner. Plus loads of water. I had a cup of hot water with the juice of half a lemon in it when I got up, as I read somewhere that lemon and vinegar lower the glycemic index of any food consumed with or just after it. Plus I think it is good for cleansing the system. Do you think I should omit the lemon first thing in the morning?
I am really bored with meat as I have never eaten a great deal of meat before.
It has been a relatively hot and sticky day here in London, but not that hot or that sticky by your standards. So I don't think I have sweated anything off. We don't have air conditioning in our homes, and not even in all offices (some are fairly old buildings, in my town quite a few must be over 400 years old, well before the days of air conditioning). Probably la lot ess than half the cars here have air conditioning.
Luckily we don't get as cold as you in winter, and we have central heating which is normally hot water radiators throughout so the houses are generally lovely and warm. I also have open fires in many of the rooms, including bedrooms as that was the way houses were built 150 years ago.
Rain forecast for this weekend - how typical.
Have a great weekend and I hope everyone continues to shed those pounds. I think the whoosh fairy must have been stopped coming into the country because she certainly hasn't arrived at my place yet.
Maybe I should start doing a bit more exercise.
Keep shrinking
Juliette :D

Hi Ladies!
I just got back from my holidays, and I missed you all... We had a wonderful time, the wedding was beautiful. The weather was also the best, nothing but sunshine and heat the whole time, I spend a lot of my time at the pool, I'm tanned like I've never been before. I'm glad to be home though, so I can get back to my regular routine, I walked some but I didn't do any weight training. I gained 5 pounds, I ate more than I usually do and ate different, didn't weigh anything, so now I'm going to pay for it.
Back to square one tomorrow....
I'm glad to see everyone is doing well.
Dinky so nice to hear from you it has been a long time, way to go on keeping the weight off during your holidays.
Carol and Donna sounds like your both still busy as can be...
Juliette the girls are right you must eat enough calories or your body will go into starvation mode and you'll never lose weight then, you'll just lose energy and muscle.
Welcome Sandy it's always great to have new comers to our group!!!
Well I should go get some unpacking done....
Talk to you all later

Wow...I am so tired! Donna, I am glad you got your AC back, sorry about the slip up about Virginia and West Virginia....oops....one of the people I talk with about goat cheese is from West Virginia...she is complaining about the market being terrible to sell her cheese....oh well...budgets are tight everywhere.
Louise I am so glad you got a chance to relax....it sounds like you had a great time....we are doing the induction thing again...care to join us? I have been eating some salted almonds, and that is causeing me to retain water....argh....it will come off someday!!!
Juliette, I bet living in England is so interesting...so much history...it is funny....here we have only a little over 225 years of history...we think things that are 75 years old are antiques....but when you go to Europe, the history is amazing.....I have relatives in Koln Germany and they have a cathedral that is enormous and is over 900 years old....I just can't imagine building something that magnificient with no electricity or modern tools etc.....amazing.
Gosh I am pooped....we spent the weekend painting the porch and installing a carpet....then I weedwacked the whole place today and we bought Christina a trampoline yesterday at a tag sale....only $75, brand new. I am so tired from jumping! It has to be good exercise, and probably low impact too.....we will get some mileage on that thing this summer....we have to buy one of those net contraptions so she doesn't bounce right off of it.....she has already figured out how to push stuff over there to climb up on it herself....yikes she is quicker than I think!!!
Still haven't had time to figure out the photo thing.....it didn't come out that good anyway....Hate pix of myself! But will try when I have a minute.
Take care petites....we can do this together!
Ranger
PS: Juliette, perhaps the whoosh fairy got held up in customs!

Well Carol, I made a typo on the air conditioner. I didn't get for my birthday. We have 5 more days till we can get one and it has been miserable here. It is already 85 here in the house. So, I haven't been doing much. I have been taking 2 cold bath a day and just reading. My husband and I plan to go to the library today and staying till they close. My sister air conditioner also went out but she has a pool and she lives surrounded by trees. I will appreciate this new air conditioner. I did weigh this morning and was suprise to see 149.5. I gained some weight because it was so hot I stopped eating. Tomorrow, I started back on induction and started drinking more water.
Carol, It sounds like you are getting enough exercise. That was a good deal on the trampoline. I used to love to jump on those thing when I was in school. My sister gave me some paint for the kitchen but I am waiting until this fall to paint. Well, my husband wants breakfast. I will finish this in a few.

Finished with breakfast, we had 2 sausauge patties with eggs scramled with cream and fried in butter. I want to get my email done before it gets so hot.
Louise, don't worry about gaining. I think you did wonderful because wedding can have some wonderful food. Your'll get it off very quickly. I am glad you enjoyed yourself.
Juliette, I am glad you are starting to eat more. I know for a while it has been so hot with humidy being almost 100% that I stopped eating and lived off diet pop. Well I started gaining but since I started eating around 20 carbs and around 2000 calories I started losing again. The body does not like to starved. I found that out. So, I know you will start losing. I will give the whoosh fairy a note so it can get through customs. Maybe it can sneak in.
Carol is right about our history. My family came from Germany and my husband family came from Mary Queen of Scot. I love to visit England one day. I read allot of English Historical novels. Your home sounds so lovely with the open fireplaces. Well keep up the great job. You are doing great. Carol, tells us we can do this together and it is the truth.
Well, my petite friends, it is getting to hot and I better get the other email done quickly. I will email tomorrow or maybe this evening when it get cooler.

Okay, maybe just a teeny whoosh, but I am down a pound, which is great. I drank loads of water yesterday. It is not nearly as hot here only about 22C (75F?) and the humidity is quite low.
I also had roast lamb yesterday which I love and I ate loads. I generally have an egg and bacon for breakfast now and I do enjoy it most days. Drinking enough water and getting enough exercise are the hardest things for me, but I certainly don't have the excuse of it being too hot to go outside!
I hope you are all doing well and with all this heat you must be melting a few pounds off if you drink loads of water.
Bye for now

Way to go Donna, you made it past 150....you must be so happy about that.....the cold baths might be the thing to do! LOL...hope the heat wave is over for you soon....it was pretty hot here today, very humid...been busy as usual...it is 9:30 pm and I still haven't done my evening chores.....better get to it.
Juliette, any pound that is no longer on the scale is a good thing...wait no, a great thing! Every little bit helps. The way I figure it is.....it took me a long time to put this weight on....so I have to figure it is not going to come off overnight. One thing that helps me, is I make mini-goals...in 5 or ten lb increments....and setting a date to reach that mini-goal, like a birthday or anniversary or a special event or something.....that way the task is not so daunting....your house sounds wonderful, we have a fireplace in the living room, but we only light it at Christmas time....we have a wood stove in the basement too....and we cut all our own wood.....I love the fire during the holidays. WOW it is way too hot to be talking about fires!
Take care everyone,
We can (and will) do this together.

Hi Ladies-
I just got back last night from a long weekend vacation. I had a great time. Six of us rented a house in Pennsylvania. I have to admit I didn't stick to this WOL over the weekend. On top of it, it's my TOM so I really feel bloated. I went right back on today and want to get the extra few pounds off ASAP!
I still don't feel comfortable in a bathing suit. I wore shorts the whole time in the pool and the lake. My problem areas are from the waste down :( .Well, hopefully one day I'll reach my goal and won't mind parading around in a bathing suit.
Hope everyone has a great week and gets a visit from the whoosh fairy!

Ranger, I do hope it will get cooler soon. Friday, we well have a new air conditioner. Thank you Lord. We went to the library and stayed three hours. I didn't want to come home. I have been drinking more water so maybe that well help me get goiing again.
I found out that I retain water allot when it is this hot. It sounds like you are busy as ever. How is the induction going? I am doing okay. I will get on the scale Friday and report how it went.
Danielle, Glad you had a good time and don't worry about not staying on your diet. Just get back on the wagon and it will be gone before you know it. I know what you mean about bathing suit. My stomach and my inner thighs look horrible. When it start getting colder I will increase my biking and walking.
Well everyone have a great low carb day. I have to get ready for my day of voluteering at Nazareth House.

Donna I'm so proud of for being below 150 that's so great!!!!
Juliette congrats on your weight loss to, you said only 1 lb, but when your petite 1lb is a lot....Way to go girl!!!!
Carol I'm with you on induction, I started yesterday and it went well, I have to stay on track now that I'm at home its easier.
Well I woke up this morning and the air was cool, but the sun is still shining, we need a bit of rain, it's so dry here right now that their is a total fire band, so we can't make camp fires. It's funny because it seems not long ago we didn't think summer would ever come it was so cold and rainy....now everything is to dry...oh well, we'll just take what we get and be happy, I really do enjoy the heat.
I'll check in with you all later!!! Have a great day!!!

The weather here was sunny and cooler today, but it was a nice day for walking, I'm thinking of getting myself a bike, I rode my sister in laws at camp, and it was fun, a really good work out for my legs too!!!

I will change my profile today. I am still at 148. It is so strange that when I first get on the scale it says 155 and then get back on it says 148. I think the batteries must be getting low again. I feel smaller. I did get me some enline skates so I will give them a try. I hope I don't break anything. Well Louise, I hope you have a wonderful low carb day. I need to go and check on my neighbor who is blind. She came home last night after a fight with her daughter. It is so sad, she is 75 and still haven't come to realize her sight will not come back. Her daughter is going to place her in a nursing home while she is going on vacation. I just can't stay over there and take care of my own family. She needs 24 hours care. She is frail and I am afraid she'll break some bones. Well I email later this evening. So may the Lord bless all of my special angels here and keep them safe and healthy.

Good Afternoon!
I was so excited, I went for my walk this morning and a few streets away from me someone had a bike in the front yard for sale...so as soon as I got home I called the number and I've known this guy forever so he told me if I wanted the bike just to come and get it, so I got my bike for free...It's a 12 speed and it goes well I went all over with it today and now my but is really sore so I'd better take it easy LOL
Donna your so wonderfully caring, I love the way you always want to help others, I feel bad for your neighbour it's so sad what happens to our old people. My grandma is 82 and she has a hard time and wants to stay in her home, so my mom and I take care of her, but it's not easy, but I think she's given so much to us through the years that she deserves to be well looked after in her old age....
Change your profile soon Donna I'm really excited for you :cheer:

It was the last one and then they marked it down almost 100.00. Thank you Lord. It is so comfortable here in the living room. Louise, I will change my profile today. I wish I hated them.....damn those double stuff oreos anyway!
It is also TOM for me, so I am sure the chocolate urges have something to do with that....haven't dared to look at the scale for a couple of days......heck, I have been too tired to look!
I really don't like scraping and painting and such....next time I mention such a project, please remind me how I feel about it now...please! LOL Thanks, for listening guys....I have given up on the Whoosh Fairy.....how about the Willpower fairy!! I have to get back on this!

Dear Carol,
You sound like you have really been busy. I bet your house look wonderful and stop please getting down on yourself. Relax and enjoy your company and then start again. It took us a long time to put this weight on and we can get off. I know I would love to lose the rest of my weight fast but I came to realize that my body well get rid of it when it is ready. Stress!!!!!! Can cause us to eat more than we want. You probally been so tired not even wanting to cook and eating something quick and comforting. You well found out that when your company leaves your be more relax and the whoosh fairy well return. Try to keep enough water in your body and get enough rest. I sorry I did my lecture. Forgive me. Try to get some rest and relax and enjoy your relatives. They bring joy and the memories are for a life time. Good night my dear friend and May the willpower fairy come and comfort you and renew with strength.

Good Morning Ladies!
Hope you all had a good weekend! We stayed home this weekend so we could go golfing with my brother and sister in law, we had a great day saturday, the golfing was great too, I've been so busy with baseball and camping I haven't golfed too much this year.
The campground we usually go to, got hit by a tornadoe yesterday, most trailers are totalled, thank God there were only a few minor injuries, but the campground is a mess.
Donna you must have had a nice comfortable weekend with your air conditioner on!!!
Carol you don't have to look far for the willpower fairy, she's right there with you, just put the last couple of days behind you, and start over one day at a time, tell yourself that you want to be healthy and get back on track YOU CAN DO IT, WE'LL STICK TOGETHER THROUGH IT!!!!
I'm going to go for my walk before it gets to hot
Take care for now Louise

The computer is going in the shop tomorrow so I wanted to email tonight. Louise, I am glad you go to go golfing. I tried to golf when I was younger with my dad and sister but with my eyesight so screwed up I couldn't hit the tee to save my life. I am near sighted and farsighted so I have trouble focusing my eyes to see straight. They are better now the older I got but I still have trouble.
Carol, hang in there Louise is right we can to this together. Thursday , my friends are having me a birthday cookout pray that my willpower fairy stay close.
Well girls I well write as soon as we get the computer back. I will miss you all. Remember we can do this together.

Well, although I have been tempted...yesterday I stayed with induction. We took Christina to a summer track meet at the high school (it was a blast!), then stopped at the Pizza place on the way home.....had a cheeseburger grinder...no roll, and when my DH asked if I wanted an ice cream, I actually said no.....seems if he asks me, it is almost like permission to have one.....I know he isn't doing it to be mean, he hates to have dessert etc, in front of me...but i felt really good about saying no.
So we shall see, perhaps the willpower fairy has touched me with her wand.....perhaps she is just you guys in disguise! Thanks so much....Donna you are right, I am really tired and stressed trying to get everything finished....I painted the bathroom the other day and now I find the color doesn't really go with the tiles....I bought some other paint to try and sponge paint it, to tone it down a bit, but I think I will wait until I finish the floor tile, and see if the color grows on me.....
We took Christina to a Gymkhana on Sunday morning...DH went with us and he ended up leading the pony and her around in the classes..she took a first and two second place ribbons....She did the obstacle course, but we had to leave early for a family event and didn't know how she did. Turns out she came in first in that too and is the champion of her division! I was so excited, and so is she...I am just a little bummed that she missed being there to get her trophy....I guess the best part is that she loves her pony so much and really likes to ride.....she did so well considering she was the youngest of 6 kids participating....I guess I am turning into one of those horse show moms! Yikes!
Anyway....I better go do the chores, my horse is still lame and has been taking a lot of time to soak his foot and pack it with poultice and such...it seems like everytime I think I might want to ride him he starts limping.....oh well....you guys are the best!
Louise, I am so glad you were not camping when the tornado hit! Golfing is a lot of fun, although I haven't played for about 5 years, my carpal tunnel really bothered me so I gave it up....but I have had the surgery and my hands are really great now....when I have a few moments to spare, perhaps DH and I should try it again!
Donna, you are an angel, please don't ever worry about preaching to me! I need it! I am glad your AC is up and running and hopefully your computer will be too....you keep doing what you are doing, and hopefully I can follow in your footsteps....
As you know...we can do this together!

Hi Everyone! I haven't been here in ages and I haven't been eating well for just about as long. I feel terrible that I can't stick to low carb! I am glad to see that some of you guys are having more success!
I have been really stressed out lately and I have been eating so much junk...chocolate, cookies, cake, and lots and lots of pasta! Starting today I am really going to try to make better choices...back to the ol' tofu dogs for me!
Anyway, I going to try to be better about visting the board--its been a huge help in the past with keeping on track...how do you long time low carbers stay on track? You're much better about it than I am. Once I go off low carb, I go WAY off!
Ok, just wanted to say hi! Happy to see some familiar and some new names :)

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for helping me through this stall! Today I got on the scale and it said 180!!....I even jumped up and down on it just to make sure it was really that......I can't believe four lbs are gone since Monday! Whoohoo!....I am beginning to think that sometimes you have to cheat a little (OK in my case a lot!) To jump start things again.....hopefully I can stick to it, I must admit a 4 lb loss makes you want to stick to it again.....45 lbs down, 20 to goal.....I am feeling really good now...(in case you couldn't tell! LOL)
Suzy...welcome back...we missed you...I can imagine all that wedding planning stress is making it difficult for you to stick with it...may I recommend visiting here more often? It really helps me to talk to all these petites who have been so wonderful...they really keep me going, and help me get on track when I stray....I have to admit it is hard to sit at the computer when the weather is nice outside....but this thread is my little sanctuary from all my farm chores, and stresses of the day.....after all....we can do this together....(are you guys sick of hearing that or what???!)
Take care everyone. Don't overdo all that excercise in the heat Louise! Donna, hope you are back on line soon!

I've been really good as far as eating, I may have drank to many diet soda's though I'll see Saturday when I weigh myself.
Carol if you stop saying we can do this together I'll stop talking to you LOL....
Have a great evening

Good Morning!
So far, so good...no cheating yet (then again, its only 8am :) )
Hey Carol and Louise, it's nice to see that you girls are still going strong...
As for me, the wedding is only 5 weeks away! And it is causing LOTS of stress, mother-in-law issues, and trips to the ice cream container. I'm realizing that eating well and exersizing would certainly help to decrease the stress, but I am still having trouble doing it.
Danielle, I thought what you said was really interesting, because I have been feeling really fat lately too. But the funny thing is, this is the lowest my weight has been in a while. When I hit the weight two months ago I felt great. I haven't really gained anything and yet all of a sudden I feel really, really fat. Weird huh? I guess its just a state of mind...
ok, Taebo time...if Billy can't motivate me, nobody can!!

Hey ladies,
I was glad to hear from all of you this am! Louise, you are so dedicated to exercise....my excercise is chasing a three year old and jumping on the trampoline (which is a blast!) I bet if I actually tried to do some organized excercise the weight would come off faster.
The Atkins website said if you excersize 3 times a week for a half hour you should lose an extra lb if you follow the woe.....something to think about......(if I ever get around to it! LOL)
Suzy...stress and eating ice cream....I know what you mean! I remember planning my wedding and stressing big time....I was so tired, I just wished I could have watched it all from the background instead of having to be the center attraction on that day! But....I still have wonderful memories of it all, and you will too....and that Taebo will have you looking trim in that wedding dress! I hope we get to see a photo sometime!
Danielle, honey, you keep trying....I find the best thing is to jump back on induction and drink...drink...drink...water that is....it will come off....I was in a stall for several weeks, and 4 lbs fell off in 4 days....I have to avoid salt in this hot weather too...as that makes me retain fluid.....we are here for you girl! Stick with us.....because we can do this together!!!! (I had to say that since I don't want Louise to not talk to me!!!LOL  )
Have a great lo carb and lo stress day!!!
I have to meet the blacksmith...my dear horse Ranger has been walking on 3 legs for about 3 weeks and I have been soaking his foot and poulticing it the whole time. The blacksmith is planning to dig out the abcess from his foot...so lots of medical treatment...antibiotic shots etc. (I hate giving shots!) and my plans to go away this weekend are shot.....oh well, my animals are too important to me to have them hurting...take care everyone!

Hi Donna,
Glad you are back on line with us....my weight was up today too....I have to stop weighing myself everyday....it can be frustrating......I have been sticking to the woe, but I think it is the heat and humidity....working against us....I retain fluid so easily....
My poor horse....the blacksmith cut off the front of his foot to allow the abcess to drain...now I had to buy a special boot for him to wear to help keep it all clean...I have to soak his foot in Epsom salts twice a day for 45 minutes each time....he says it will probably take two months for it to get better....yikes....guess I know where I will be for the rest of the summer. The good thing is that he now likes to soak his foot and will actually just stand there with his foot in the tub to eat his hay. It must feel good on his sore foot. Ah animals! Got to love em!
Take care everyone, we can do this together! Have a great lo carb day....

Hi Donna,
Sounds like you are right on track....I usually drink about 80 ozs. of water....then am so full, don't feel like eating....today I had Steak and Eggs for breakfast, some bits of turkey for lunch, a little horseradish goat cheese and an egg salad sandwich on lo carb bread.....the bread was the only carbs....16 grams but the fiber, is taking its toll tonight! LOL....too bad we took out the upstairs toilet so I can start tiling the bathroom floor tomorrow...yikes!! At least we are getting close to finishing the bathroom! Jon removed the toilet today with zero problems!!! Finally something went right....I leveled the floor with a cement product and should be able to cut tile tomorrow...hope I can figure out how to do it!
The only excercise we got today was putting in 200 bales of hay with our new neighbor....heck we were already hot and sweaty from the bathroom work, so we helped them out.....good healthy work....had to go to my Moms to shower though......I better hurry up with that bathroom....you don't really appreciate it until you can't use it.!
Good luck everyone...no cheatin til Labor Day.....and after that too...I guess!

I am ready to get rid of these #~$! 15-20lbs I have been carrying around and haven't been able to do anything with. Should I stay on induction until I have 5lbs. left??? I am starting my third week.

You found the right thread, the petites here offer great support to everyone.
I pretty much stick with induction with perhaps maybe 5 more carbs, but I generally try to stick under 20 a day...sounds like you do lots of exercise....one suggestion from me would be to drink...drink...drink that water....that is really helpful to wash it all away.
I stay away from salt, cause that makes me retain fluid....stick with us....and that weight will go places!

Welcome Mavi, don't worry you'll lose more the next time you weigh yoursel, just keep up the good work.

I had a busy weekend went golfing againg and then babysat my nephews, oh boy and I thought I was in good shape LOL! those little guys sure keep you busy!!
I've been eating according to plan and I lost 2 of the 5 lbs I had gained, but that's not the good news, the good news is that I just got a job, you'll never believe what I'll be doing, your all going to want to shoot me, but keep in mind it's just a job and the pay is more than I had ever expected. I'm the newest sales rep. for a comp. called Saputo Bakery Division, this means I'm selling Hostess cakes like Twinkies and pastries and all different brand of McKormick Cookies and crackers, boy I'm going to be working 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. Welcome Mavi, Carol is right about this thread. They have helped me so much in losing this weight. I have been eating up to 20 carbs a day. I have found out that cutoff level is 20 and over that I start gaining. I drink around 128 oz. of water a day. I also found that pork rinds and nuts causes me to retain water. But Carol is right stick with us and you well lose.
Louise, congratulation on getting your job that is wonderful. Maybe you can asked the company to make us some low carb version on Twinkies. I wish I was millionare I would start a low carb store and create some yummy treats. Well maybe in the next life. Louise, please join us at the labor day challenge. The people are great. Way to go on the weight loss too....for some reason, I was up two lbs today and have been sticking with it....I just have to be patient...it will come off eventually.
Ranger is doing a little better....this is going to be a long haul....I won't be able to go away in Sept. like we had planned, unless he has some remarkable recovery! Oh well, that is the way things go sometimes.
I am starting to panic about the company....tile is all cut and layed out, I just have to adhere it to the floor today and grout tomorrow, then install toilet and medicine cabinet.....then clean~!

Seems like everyone is doing great!
Keep going girls, Donna way to go in the fitness challenge I read the posts, I'd love to join, but I think right now is not a great time. I have so much to learn, codes for the computer at work, all the diff. products have diff. codes and then I must learn how to put orders in, lost of new stuff but I'm up for the challenge, I just have to get used to a new routine...it will take me a little while. I brought my lunch with me and drank my water all day, so that's not going to be a problem....and I didn't eat any cookies or cakes.
Carol that's OK that you don't like twinkies, I don't either I have to be careful of chocolate cakes though, but I'll be fine.
I think I should go take a hot bath and do some studying before bed.

Hi Ladies,
I am glad to see everyone is doing well. I have some good news. I finally got a job for September (I'm a teacher). But the bad news is that I can't seeem to lose any weight. Evertime I get on the scale I want to kick it (Ha Ha). Then it gets me frustrated and annoyed. Then I just want to eat all the wrong things which starts an on going cycle. HELP!!! I feel so fat lately. I haven't changed my profile but I gained about 3 pounds. And I feel like it's 50. I'm hoping that once I get back into a routinue in September the weight will start to come off again. It's like I hit a wall once I got to the 30 pound mark. These last 20 or so are killing me. Well, sorry to bring anyone day and I hope everyone has a better week then me.

I am still weighing between 140-141.5 through the week. I have been at this weight since the end of the first week of induction, this if my fourth week. I have added walking to my exercise routine to try to jump start things. So now in total I do weight training Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for an hour. Tuesday and Thursdays I do an hour of Body attack (an advanced type of aerobic/karate class); Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays I ride my bike or do elyptical for 45 min; and Monday through Thursday mornings I walk with my sister-in-law for 35+ minutes. I am eating between 1200-1600 calories a day and keeping my carbs under 25. I am measuring to and nothing. WHAT GIVES.....ANYTHING??????HELP I AM GIVING UP. At this point I would be happy with just losing 10 pounds okay 2....something I need my body to give me encouragement. How do body-builders get into contest shape having to lose those last 5-10lbs annually??? Maybe I should look into that.
hi Mavi, I know that when I first started I was doing A LOT of exercise, thinking if a little helps then a lot has to help even more. But I think I was overdoing it, and I think you might be doing the same. If you don't give your body some time to recover from each session you don't gain all of the benefit from the workout. Also, I could be wrong, but with all the exercise it seems like you aren't taking in enough calories. Without enough calories for all that exercise your body will go into starvation mode and try to hold on to all the fat it can. At least that's what I think was happening with me...
I have been really busy and tired lately...3.5 weeks till the wedding..eeks!! Yesterday I had a really bad run in with a hot glue gun and I burned off the skin on the tip of my finger. OUCH!
In the meantime, I think all of my cheating ways have caught up with me and I suddenly gained 3 pounds. i am hoping it is just water, but I don't think so...and I have a gown fitting tomorrow :(
How much do you think I could realistically lose in 3 weeks?Maybe 5 or 6 pounds if I am good, but I find it SO hard to be good lately...
ok, of to keep glueing...hope you all are having fun in the sun!

Hi Everyone!!
Just thought I would take a few minuts to see how things are going.
Carol the bathroom must be nice now that it's all done, that is our next project in the house, probably in the fall. I hope you've been having a great visit with your company. I understand it's hard to post on regular basis when you have company and your very busy, I've been finding it hard lately too. We'll have lots of time to catch up in the winter...LOL
Suzy, sounds like the wedding is coming soon, I think your not eating right, maybe because of the stress, with the wedding coming and all, if you want to lose the weight before the wedding just go back to induction, and if you can't I don't think 3 lbs will make much of a difference, you'll still be a beautiful bride.
Mavi, take it easy, you have to relax a bit, I think your over exercising, and body builders take fat burners to help them loose quickly, I don't think that is a healthy approach, your nor giving your body any time to recover from the day before, if your metabolism gets used to this amount of exercise, what are you going to do when you have to slow down. Are you drinking a lot of water? Don't forget when you exercise you gain muscle., are you measuring yourself, you maybe losing in inches, which is just as good.
Take Care of yourselves

Well my neighbor daughter came back yestersday and now I can get back to normal here at home. I can now start really getting my house back in shape. I drank my 1 gal. of water but still feel it.
Carol, I hope you enjoyed your company. I am glad you are relaxing.
Louise, how is the job coming alone.
Mavi, hang is there. I know it is hard not to see any progress with all the hard work but it well come believe me. I had your trouble and still have it. The body stalls for some reasons and then it start losing again. I am starting to exercise more and I am builing muscle and it seems to slow down a little. Don't look at it in a negative but look at it as I am improving myself and I know shortly I will look great.

I'm not too petite, being 5'6, but I have a very tiny build with teeny bone structure (crazy combination of a gymnast mother and a basketball player father). I also get the same comments that I don't need to lose weight, but I feel that I would like to get down to 110 or less, but I think any less would be too thin, although in my career (ballet), there is no such thing as too thin!

I have increased my caloric intake to about 1600 (+- 100) per day based on the information ya'll provided. I started that this week. I think I'll wait to weigh myself until September 2 so that I don't get discouraged. I have been noticing more definition in my abs and arms and shoulders (especially when I do push-ups). So I guess its all good. Anywho, yesterday I found this website that tells you what your metabolic rate is ( amount of calories your body needs to maintain, gain and/or lose weight). It said that in order for me to lose I should take in less than 1400 calories since my metabolic rate is 1489. It said I would gain weight if I took in over 2100. The clincher is that it said if I took in no less than 1200 calories I would lose about 1 pound every 15 days. 15 DAYS---1 pound---O MY GOSH-- I'll be in a nursing home by the time I lose these (*~#!^*%) 20 pounds. Especially since I enjoy one cheat day a week. I just gotta have it or else I go hog wild.

I've been offline for a few weeks as I have been in New Zealand. Sadly not a holiday, but my mother died. It was peaceful and she was surrounded by those who she loved and loved her in return, but of course it still a great loss. Now I am back in London and life is returning to normal.
I didn't gain any weight and actually lost a few pounds, even though I wasn't really sticking to the plan all the time. Kept to egg and bacon for breakfast but after that it was all over the place. I even ate some cake (but only very small pieces)! I didn't really feel like eating which helped with the weight I think. Sometimes there are other things in life much more important than how much we weigh or how we look.
The weather here has been lovely since I got back and I am determined to get some windows painted while it lasts. I'm sticking to the plan, but not slavishly, and I am hoping I will slowly drop those last few pounds.
I haven't read through all the back postings, so how is everyone doing? Still maintaining or losing weight I hope. I see some familiar names and some new ones, so welcome to the new petite slimmers. I think it is always easier in summer to lose weight. Unless you live somewhere where it is almost too hot to go outside of course. No problem with that here!
Have a great weekend and week ahead.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been around...one more week to go with the company....I am exhausted....it is very difficult to keep 12 year olds entertained....in the meantime, I was really sick and almost was put in the hospital with a virus, but came through that ok...then my mom got it and had complications and was in the hospital for about 5 days....yikes...talk about busy.
Sadly, I really blew the WOE! Well, I better get going and make that wedding cake that is due in 3 hours! nothing like waiting to the last minute!

Carol wait until your company is gone and you can get back on track, I've been finding it hard this week too, I think next week the kids are back in school and life can get back to normal, I've also been finding it hard to find time to exercise with this busy schedule lately but I know that I have to find the time.
Donna I'm doing well, thank you for asking, I haven't been on the board as often as I would like, hopefully soon I will have more time. We lost in the semi finals of our baseball play offs, it was fun but 5 games in 2 days was tirering.
I've been busy getting the kids ready for back to school, my son is going into grade 12 and my daughter's first year in high school, she's getting so old I can't stand it...We went and bought her school uniforms, and supplies and tomorrow I bring her to pick up her schedule and tour the school.
I think it's time to get back on track seriously now that the summer brake is just about over, What do you girls think? Are you with me?
Take Care my special friends

Hi all,
So much for getting back on track on Monday....today is Wednesday and I have been chowing like a horse! The cousins will be gone early tomorrow...and that is my deadline to start again! I have to do this, I feel so bloated! Arggh! I have really enjoyed the visit, but feel like I must do this for myself.....my baby started preschool today.....I was kind of sad that she is growing up, but pleased that she is independant enough to never look back for me.....ah such is life....
Take care friends,
We can do this together!

Hello Girls!
I'm back from camp, the weekend was great, the weather was beautiful and we had a great time with the familly. Tomorrow the kids are back in school, camping is over and so is baseball. No more excuses for going off track, I'm pulling myself together and starting over tomorrow, IS THE BIG DAY, Carol I know your with me, lets get to it and no more excuses for cheating.....I say for myself till Chrismas, I'm also going to find time to work out daily, I feel like "crap" since I haven't been working out...
If anyone else is with me, lets get going tomorrow, no more excuses, lets throw those bad carbs away and get healthy and slim.
Hope you all have a great day

Louise, I am with you and Carol on starting again. I have been drinking too much coffee working on this ebay business. I am going to start bring my water with me to my friend's house. We worked from 10:00 until 7:00 this evening working on listing and working out a formula on how much to charge for each item. Then I did inventory of the items. We are selling her and mine big clothes. She has been losing faster than weight watcher because she has been my low carb food. She lost 5 lbs. this week where she has only been losing a pound a week. I am so glad you had a great time and how is your job coming along.
Carol, I hope you are recuperating from your company and I know you well get back on track soon.
Juliette, I am so sorry about your lost. My prayers are with you.
Well ladies have a great low carb evening and I well email tomorrow.

OK, it is time to get back on track.....I have been recuperating from my company...busy with my mom in and out of the hospital, 2 friends passed away, one funeral tomorrow....lame horse....school starting....housesitting for 2 families..cowsitting for another!..1 fire and 2 emergency calls...2 family reunions this weekend...work....Yikes, other than that there is nothing going on....phew....man I am tired.
I will stick to this woe tomorrow if it kills me!~! (I will not eat anything at the funeral that is not lo-carb! I promise! These family reunions with pig roasts and pot lucks are tempting me beyond my control! I will not go off induction from tomorrow until Christmas!! If I have too......we can do it together girls!!! Lets go!
Carol
PS: Donna I think selling the big clothes is a great idea....except my stuff is so outdated and worn I don't think anyone would want them!! I think I will clean the closet soon so the options of big clothes won't exist anymore....and the salvation army will have to bring a truck!
'night ladies.

Congrats!!!! a 9/10 wow!! You must be so happy! I am not nearly that close! I have had a hard time lately...I want to go back on induction, but something always makes me cheat or just eat too many carbs....I haven't really gone off for about 3 days now, but I know I am eating too many carbs for me to lose.....Hopefully, I can get back to it....I hate this feeling of a downward slide...(or should I say upward, as far as the scale goes!)
Unfortunately, Christina caught a cold on the first day of school and now we all have a terrific head cold....it certainly doesn't encourage me to stay on the diet....I just want some comfort food when I am sick!!! OK someone slap me, and tell me to grow up!
I am so proud of you Donna, you are doing all this stuff and still stickin' to it! You go girl.....your ebay business sounds as if it is going well....Take care,
I have to get some sleep!!!

Great news about getting into a 9/10 dress size. It feels so good when that happens.
I only wish I had been as good as you, but in the last week I have been really naughty by eating chocolate. That's my only cheat but I have eaten about 1 kilo (1.5lbs) of dark chocolate. A tiny wee bit is allowed on the Montignac plan, but nothing like that. I haven't checked my weight (too scared) and I have tried bulking up on the "right" foods, but I have been craving chocolate so much. Maybe it is because it's almost my TOM, or maybe just a combination of things. I am usually strong willed, and am not even enjoying eating it apart from the first piece. Pathetic I know.
I will use you as an inspiration Donna to get back on track.
Hope all of you have a great weekend and your familys' head colds clear up Ranger.

Carol and Juiliette,
Thanks for the ego bust. I am still working my tail off trying to get this Ebay business rolling. I work 12 hours yestersday with my friend. We did get some great bargains at an estate sale. I have not been drinking enough water and I can tell it. My girlfriend is on Weight Watcher and keep asking if I want anything to eat. She snacks all the time. With Atkins you feel full and stay full for a long time. My bigger clothes are selling so maybe soon I can get some new ones. I am trying not to buy anything new until I reach my goal. I need to change my profile again. I am down to 144 this morning. I am not losing as fast but it is coming off. Well ladies, I hope your day with be fruitful and enjoyable.

Hi Donna,
Wow! 144 that is great! Sounds like your ebay thing is coming along well too.....I look at ebay every once in a while, but I am too chicken to bid on anything.....I love estate sales too! I just bought a bunch of stuff this summer at one....of course I am considering selling it at my tag sale on the 21st! I have so much work to do for that....I organize our town wide tag sale every year. A bunch of people in town get together and hold sales on the same day, we pool finances and advertise in a lot of places then divide the cost...we make maps so people know where to go...it is really fun, and it draws a lot of people up to our little town....
Yikes I finally went one day without cheating! I don't know what has got into me (other than lots of carbs! LOL) I haven't dared look at the scale, but I am going to try again tomorrow! DH is going away for 4 days for work....I will miss him....hopefully I will be able to do the lo carb thing.....I just spent about $65 on lo carb bars, so maybe that will be the incentive to stick with it.....
Well Donna you are doing awesome...so close to that goal...I will try to keep up with you now!
We can do this together...right?

We have been taking things on commission. One thing nice I have been cheating. No time. I need to get exercise into my day. We well do this together my friend. Look how far we have come.

Hi Ladies,
It's been a few weeks since I have written in the forum. I couldn't get on track over the summer and I was becoming frustrated. The good thing is that I ended up maintaining. I am back on track as of September 4th.
I went back to work (I'm a teacher) and I'm back to a routinue. I haven't started exercising yet :( , but I calculated that I go up and down 20 flights of steps a day. I am starting to get use to it. The first few times I would be out of breath when I got to the fourth flour. I am having a hard time shedding those last 20 lbs. I have ten weeks until it's been a year since I begin this WOL. I would LOVE to be at my goal weight by then.
Enjoy your weekend!

I am so sorry I haven't checking with the forum for over a week now. I have been working so hard in getting the ebay business going. I have been drinking to much coffee but haven't gained. Today, I am going back on induction. I weigh yestersday and I am down to 143 so that leave 23 pounds to go until Christmas. So if anyone wants to go back to induction with me. I have found out that water is the key for me to lose. So back to 128 oz. of water a day. Louise, it sounds like you are working as hard as I am. I am learning allot about business. It is keeping me hopping.

Hi Donna,
It was good to hear from you. Good luck on the Ebay business. I know we can do it if we stayed determined. Althought I am not on induction, I'm trying to keep on track. It's hard foe me to drink the water because I am a teacher. I can't really leave the room to use the bathroom.
I think I really need to start to exercise. So far I have lost the weigh without it. But I need tone up and lose those 15-20 lbs. I have been goign back and forth with the idea of joining the gym. I just hate to spend the money if I don't go. Every once in a while I have to remind myself that I did lose 34 lbs and it's better than nothing.
Have a good week!

Hi girls! I  haven't been here in ages and unfortunately, it shows--I've gained 5 pounds!! But, on a more possitive note, I got married! :hyper: The wedding (september 7th) was amazing, the honeymoon (hawaii) was terriffic. But I managed to eat everything in sight! I :( didn't have a chance to eat much on the day of the wedding, but I managed to make up for it over the last 2 weeks! Those breakfast buffets were killers...all the doughnuts and pasteries! But I decided it was my honeymoon and I was going to enjoy myself.
But now my body is really paying for it! The scale only says 5 pounds but it feels like I've gained 20! I guess thats cause being this short, every 5 pounds does feel like 20! Anyway, now all of the stress of the wedding is lifted, so I have NO EXCUSE not to stay on this woe. I have promised myself that I am starting today. And I havent exercised in ages so i need to do that too...
Anyway, I didn't have a chance to read all of the posts that I missed, but it seems like you guys have all been very busy over the summer! Maybe now that the summer is over we all will have more time to post. I hope so, because this forum was the biggest help for me when I was actually losing weight!
Ok, I'm officially on induction as of right now!
I'm happy to be back!

Gosh, reading everyone's posts...I feel really guilty...for some reason, I no longer get emails that say people have replied to this thread....I have been wicked busy....(as usual..surprise, surprise) I have not been sticking to this woe and I have to get back on....my Disney trip is on Nov 3rd, and I have gained about 10 lbs!!! ugh!
Our computer has been on the fritz a lot too...lots of virus junk going on, but it is all clean now.....I am so sorry I haven't written....I am glad you guys are all doing good and see that everyone wants to get back on track....scg, congrats on your wedding!!! I bet Hawaii was wonderful.
I have not had a chance to check out the E Bearettes yet, Donna, but I will....I need to go back on induction today!!!
Louise, it sounds like your job is keeping you busy...I can't believe it is 6 months already....you go girl!!! I am glad you are getting focused again Danielle, the summers can be tough!
I have been busy with the goats, now I am having little field trips here with kids, where they get to milk, pick a pumpking etc....it is fun, but I am not making any $$ at it!! I love the kids though!
I have been busy with our dairy goat club, and was named a trustee, bought a new buck, he is a cutie! I have been an organizing fool! We put on a town wide tag sale here a couple of weeks ago, and I also organized a gymkhana for the town last weekend...phew I am tired.....got kicked by a horse in the thigh, while I was trying to help it load on a trailer....I have been limping around all week...it is a lovely shade of blue and purple and yellow though! LOL.
Christina was the reserve champion of our tri-town gymkhana series...unfortunately there was a mix up with the points and they awarded the trophy to someone else....oh well, she will always be my little champ!!
I have been busy with school...teaching craft classes and volunteering in the classroom, I am the co-chair of the school PTP
(Like the PTA) and have been working on our big craft fair fund raiser.....this year we are having a safe Halloween event....tail gate trick or treating at the school, instead of going house to house....it should be fun.....it has evolved into a hayride, bonfire, costume contest and jack o lantern contest...Yikes more work!!!! But I love it!!!! I love to organize community events.....too bad I am broke!!!! I should do this as a job!
Anyway, enough about me......I need to get back on induction!!!!
Can we? I mean We can do this together!!!!!

Hi Louise....
Yes winter seems to be looming up ahead of us doesn't it....we have only had one frost though, and I still haven't put the gardens to bed for the winter....heck, I am still picking veggies and flowers as long as they keep coming...I am really tired tonite, worked on some of my handcreams today....and also making 4 flavors of popcorn topping...you mix them with butter and pour over your popcorn....definitely not Atkins stuff! We got toned out last night for a medical emergency at 3 am...got home by 4:30, but couldn't sleep, so now I am paying for it.....
Our friends we are going to Florida with, called and we decided to have dinner here tomorrow night to plan what we will do....so I quickly tried to whirlwind clean the downstairs like a crazy person...(I am truly a slob, I swear!) Even had the table set for tomorrow and the meat defrosting and they called and cancelled!
Oh well, at least my house looks a little better.....I am always a little envious of Donna, who always seems to be cleaning and really have a routine....I am just not into cleaning!! I would rather clean the barn! LOL
Actually taking a few hours tomorrow to go shopping with my sister in law.....I never do that.....kind of looking forward to it, but thinking about how much work I need to get done before the trip....I am going to try to make a batch of goat milk soap this weekend....at least (if it turns out ok) that is something that I can actually sell (as opposed to cheese)!
Congrats on the pound lost.....I have stuck to this for two days again...so the ball is rolling again! Even made jello....now is the countdown to the vacation....Nov 3rd we are leaving...yikes!
I should do some walking too...just to get in shape for Disney...I guess I will have to do it in my sleep!
So good to hear from you again! I found out that for some reason I was not subscribed to any threads for some reason....take care, Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Louise,
I have been making a lot of feta cheese lately...it is really strong and good...(my friend is a chef and she tells me it is excellent) I should send you some....I wonder how it would ship? It might be Really stinky by the time you got it!?
So far I made 2 batches of soap today...one citrus cinnamon and the other lavender....they both smell really nice, but now have to sit for 4 weeks before they can be used.....bummer...I want to try them now!!
So I blew it today...the third day is the toughest! Yikes...starting over tomorrow! I am going to do it!!!! Together we can do it!!!

PS: Computer is acting up again. so am replying from brother in laws computer...not sure when mine will be fixed....take care!
hi girls, I have been having a really terrible time getting back on track! I really wish I could just get it right, because when I was starting the first time it felt so much easier! Now I have gone so far away from the WOE that I even forget that I am being bad when I eat the bad stuff, it's like I forget all about it..
I've already gained a couple more pounds since my wedding and I am afraid I will soon have gained back everything I lost in the first place :( Plus now we've already started talking about kids (yippie!) but that is certainly going to throw things off!!! (Hey, I have been working on a website of wedding pic, you guys can check them out at www.thezainos.com!)
Anyway, I just wish I could get back in the right mindset! I feel like I was using the wedding as a goal and now without it I am having a lot more trouble staying on track!! Louise, I wish I could have the willpower and success with this woe that you have had!
Carol--are you excited for your disney trip? it's coming up very soon! You're going to have the best time! btw, I misread your post and thought you said you were making lavendar "soup", not soap!!
ok, gotta run and close some windows, it's just started raining again!

 I had no idea there were so many of us here.I have been low carbing for almost 2 months. I'm just barely 5 ft tall. I originally planned on going down to 110 pounds , but since building up muscle & losing most of my fat I weigh more but get to wear smaller size. Right now I just want to lose my lower belly & back fat. I have a boyish figure so I gain weight around the waist or that's my trouble spot.
Well I'm almost there I guess you can say.

Hi again. Yep I am a returnee to the low carb way. I did the low carb thing back in January and lost 25 pounds. I spent almost the entire summer at the beach and you can imagine what happened. I gained most of it back. I am feeling very angry at myself right now. Last month i tried weight watchers and i have seen no results. so here i am again back to the low carb way of life. i loved it when i did it and i loved all the support from these forums. i hope to do as well as last time. any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
by the way, i am also a petite lady at 4 feet 11 inches.

Welcome Josie sounds like your doing great, keep up the exercise it's great for you, sometimes we do need to look at the difference in the way our clothes fits instead of worrying about the scales.
I had a busy day at work today, I did manage to walk for an hour this morning, but is it ever getting cold like minus 5 degrees Celcius.....I hate winter, it's not here yet and I can't wait for Spring LOL....
I should go to bed now!!!
I will check in with you tomorrow!!

 It's so good to see people that's tried Atkins before return. Most peole will try a diet once & if no sucess will not try again. It goes to show that if I go back to my old ways of eating I still have this to go back to. Not that I plan on it, but I knoww there will be times of heavy temptations( like the holiday season that's coming up) I don't know how I'm going to do this WOE. hopefully I 'll stay as close as possible.
Louis it sounds like it's freezing where you are at. I didn't know that winter started this early up there. Are you in North Canada ,or the southern part ? I'm just glad summer is finally over down here. We have really long summer's,but this one has actually seem a little shorter. :sunny:I no longer have to do my walk first thing in mornings, because it's now getting to be in the 80 as the highs. I love to go up north some time & see all the fall colors sounds beautiful.
Take care,

Hi Josie!
I'm up North, so it is quite cold, the colours of fall are really beautiful right now, unfortunetly the leaves are falling, the weather report is calling for wet snow tomorrow and through the weekend.....
It is nice to see people return, I see this as a WOL it has to be for me, I know if I went completly off the plan I would gain back all my weight in no time, I'm not willing to do that it's too hard to lose, so I just stick to it most of the time....
Have a great evening ladies, I'm off to watch ER I never miss it!!!

I am still fighing temptations , during my monthly time I start in a few days but it's not as bad as it was before I started low carbing though. I have a chocolate addictions. Next week will be 2 months I been at Low carbing. Did you have to fight addictions too, & how long did it take you to over come them?

I have never been a chocolate addict but i have tried the carbolite bars and they are pretty good. I find as long as i don't keep anything tempting in the house, i won't eat it. When i did lc before i kept my kitchen carb free. My problem is usually social eating outside of the house with friends. If it is not in hands reach, i can't eat it!!
sometimes you just have to give in to temptation, and get it out of your system. your weight should not be affected that much by one little candy bar and if you do gain 1 pound, it usually comes off within a day or two. i am not suggesting doing it all the time, i am just suggesting that sometimes the more you fight the temptation, the more you eat to try to satisfy the urge. sometimes it is better just to go ahead and eat the thing you are craving and be done with it.
last time i lost 25 pounds doing lc and once in a while i did give into temptation. i hope this helps.

Hi y'all, just wanted to introduce myself to this group. I am 5'1" and have about 40 pounds to lose. Actually, I'm not quite sure how much I want to lose, as I never weighed myself before starting Atkins. I just want to get back to the size I was about five years ago. I wasn't "thin thin" but I looked good in my clothes and felt good about myself. I am guessing at what weight that was, but if I'm wrong I'll keep going until I get there :)
I have been doing Atkins for almost four weeks and I'm happy with it so far. It's been easier to do than I expected; I really enjoy the allowed foods and I haven't been craving sweets or starches much. I lost weight really well the first two weeks, but then stopped because of the time of the month. I'm just now finally getting back on track.
A couple of days ago a friend told me that I look a little thinner in the face already. I don't know if it's really true, she may have just been trying to encourage me. But even so I appreciate it! I have a digital camera and I've been taking my own picture (just holding the camera at arm's length) once a week. At the end of the year I'll compare the photos so I can really see my progress. Is anyone else doing something like this?
Tomorrow is my first real test of willpower: the state fair. My boyfriend and I go every year, and "fair food" is always a really big part of the trip. This year I will have to skip the mini donuts, roasted corn, ham biscuit, orangeade, even the free sweet pickles! I am going to eat right before we go and as a reward for not cheating, tomorrow night I'm going to make the molten chocolate cake recipe from the Atkins website. I'm hoping that will keep me from feeling mopey or whiney if/when the BF eats all the treats I can't have. Wish me luck!

Hello Ladies!
Glad to see it's getting busier on this site, it was really quiet for a while.
Welcome Sarah glad to have you with us....take it one day at a time and you'll see the weight and inches will come off....We're here when you need support.
Hi Josie, if your addicted to chocolate you should stay away from any forms of it, such as choc. protein and choc. protein bars, I find if I eat or drink anything choc. it feeds to the addiction, and makes me crave the real thing.
Lisa when I do give into temptation I have the hardest time getting back on track, I try so hard not to give in....
Well I should go and get the dishes done!
Have a great low carb evening!!!

Thanks, Louise I didn't realize eating chocolate protein bars would feed my addictions. I guess I 'll try the other flavors. I notice they taste better when I'm hungry.
Sarah, your friend was probably right about you looking thinner. On someone whose height is around 5 ft 10 pounds makes a big difference ,more then it would on someone who taller. In my first 2 weeks I dropped 10 pounds and everyone seemed to notice.
Thanks Lisa, I do give in to my temptations sometimes ,I haven't gained it back yet. But it's impossible not to have junk in the house. Everyone here is addicted to carbs & noone wants to give them up. So I don't get any support here , except my husband who will compliment me on how I look. Sometimes it seems they are buying more so I 'll be tempted because the stuff is all over the house. BTW, I'm staying w/ my inlaws in till our house is built.

Josie,
I don't know how you married women do it? i am 32 and single, living on my own and i find it very easy to do LC in my house. the social aspect is much more difficult like eating out and drinking. sometimes i think it would be easier if i was married because i wouldn't have the desire to go out drinking every weekend, which unfortunately i do. but on the other hand, I can't imagine how difficult it is for people who have to keep a kitchen filled with carb foods for everyone else in the family. What control you must have!!
I need a lot of help out there because i have been hearing that sometimes atkins only provides a one shot deal. in other words, the first time around you lose tons of weight and then if you gain weight and try to do it again, you don't get the same results.
SarahO
Wed, Oct-23-02, 15:21
I also find it a lot easier to eat LC at home. Restaurants are hard, I feel like I need to inspect the menu ahead of time, quiz the staff on the ingredients in everything, etc etc. It's such a pain!
I live with someone who is not doing Atkins, but I've been pleasantly surprised to find that high carb foods in the house don't bother me too much. I worried that I would have cravings and have a hard time resisting the bread, etc but it hasn't been like that.
My boyfriend has also been really good about it. Like we'll make a low carb meal and then he'll make rice for himself. Also, he just told me that he has been hiding his desserts and eating them after I go to sleep, so that I won't have to watch him eat pie, cake etc. I think that is so sweet!

Hello Ladies!
Talking about having a hard time with temptation, I too have to cook seperate meals for myself, I'm used to that though.
Some of you may not know what I do for a living, I'm a sales rep for pastries, cookies and all kinds of stuff, now we are carying the Dare Candy line, we have the real fruit candy, the juiced up and the bananas and strawberries, I have all the samples anyone could ever want for demo's, I'm not even going to bring any home for the kids, it's not good for them, and I have enough of fighting temptations at work....
Now that I'm done raving, I did a workout today, first good one since I've been back to work, I must continu and make it a regular routine....
I hope you're all doing well!!!!
Keep up the great work!!!

Sarah, that's so sweet of your boyfriend. I wish my husband & family would do the same. If I was single I think it would be much easier, oh well that's not the case.
Lisa, I feel for you. Last weekend me & my husband went to Dave & Buster's I confess I had two drinks. I feel like a dork asking he bartender for a glass of water.
Louise, You really must have some will power there. I would be sampling left & right.
This has been a very busy week for me ; doc , dentist & vet appointments plus a B-Day party on Saturday all in the same week. I didn't get to exersize today , hopefully I can tomorrow.

I'll do okay. Carol you are rigth We can do this together.
Well, I need to go now to bed. We are going rummaging to buy for ebay. Come by and check us out. We call ourselves the E-bearettes. She is doing weight watcher and I am still Atkins. Dinner have really been interesting.

Donna don't be scared , you did great. My original goal weight was 110, but then as the weight was coming off I reached my goal size before my weight got to it's goal. By eating more protein you have built up muscle & it's more compact then the fat, that you gotten form eating carbs in the past. Just ad a little carbs at a time & if you gained some weight just start laying off the carbs. It's ok to indulge , once in a while ,just don't take up the habit.
And we are always here for support.

It has been very cold & raining here, today is the first sunny day since sometime last week. This has been an unusual weather for us this year; it's wetter & colder then usual , our summer seemed alittle shorter then normal. But I'm not complaining it's better then the droughts & heat we normally get.

Donna it's great to here from you, I miss you too, your so busy all the time, as soon as you lower your carb intake you'll start to feel better again...
Josie, you could probably allow yourself 1 cheat during the holliday, pick it out carefully, make sure it's worth your while, and just drink lots of water the next day and you should be fine, get right back on track too....I'm sure you'll have great holliday pics...
Well ladies I'm excited to say that I'm down 1 more pound, these are still quit smoking pounds though I'm not in the good yet, but the scale is moving down instead of up, so that makes me happy, I'll continue exercising I think that is what really helps me.

Hello Girls,
It's sure been quiet here lately.
How's everyone doing? I'm doing fine, and happy to report another 2lbs gone.
I had a very sad week though, my dog past away, I had her for 9 years, and she was the sweetest little thing, but she had a brain tumor and we lost her on Monday. The kids were heart broken.
The company will be flying me to Toronto for managers meetings, Dec. 12th , I'm so excited, I've never flown before.
Well that's about all that's been going on lately girls...
Hope to hear back from someone soon...
Have a great weekend, LOuise

Hi All,
I've been skimming this thread & u all look like you're having such a great time over here...
Let me preface by saying that i'm 5'2'' ish, maybe 5'3'' and have been on atikins for 5 or so weeks... i'm having so much fun i dont even know how long its really been! Good sign
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and ask a question:
:q: Qs to you ladies... I'm 143ish right now and am fitting into a 9/10. Medium frame. I am having some serious problems trying to figure out how much weight I need to loose. I'm definately jiggly, my bum and thighs need work, as does my belly. The charts say I should between 110-130... that's a huge range. 20 lbs!
From anyone who's reached goal and is close with a similar height and build, how much are you weighing, and what size are you wearing?
I'm trying to make myself a jiggle goal--- loose weight until i stop jiggling--heehee, but it would be nice to get a number on the scale that I can aim for.
Thanks.

Wanda, What I meant is have you tried another low carb diet? I don't know much about plateaus. I know on low fat diets I would get to 125 & stop losing I couldn't get any lower. I don't think I've reached plateau since doing Atkins , I thought I did, because I went for a month w/o dropping any weight then after that TOM, I dropped a pound a month , that's what I seem to be doing now. With the exception of the other day, I dropped 2 which was from being sick, I probably gained them back already because I started last night.
Intanzania, it's great to have you here. You should set a goal weight like 120 (for an example) , then when you get close to 120 decide from there if you should weigh more or less. My original goal was 110 , but since building up muscle I realized I can weigh more & look good & feel good. I made it to my goal size which is a size 3/4 in pants but I weigh between115 to 117 I'm not too sure I weigh myself on Sunday's. Saturday I got sick so my weight went down. My jeans are all baggy the smallest pair is a size 5. My dress size is a small. I have to wear larger tops jr medium.
How can you tell your build if you are small or medium frame? I think I may be medium frame, when I was younger people use to tell me I was very bony ,back then I weighed 90 to 95 pounds & I'm 5 ft tall.
you all take care,
Josie

Hello Louise
I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I know how sad it is to lose a pet, especially when you had her nine years.
Congratulations on your trip to Toronto. I'm sure you will love it. Good news about the 2lbs you lost. I want to fit back into a special dress for a Christmas Party on the 18th December so I think I might do two weeks of induction while my other half is away on a business trip.
I can fit into it, but it is tight and I want to look good. It gets so much more difficult to diet in the run up to Christmas, but I am determined.
I made the icecream from the Atkins book and it was a great success with everyone. I am going to make more this weekend. Does anyone have any other ideas for very low carb desserts?
Have a great weekend everyone.

There is a Jello Cheesecake recipe in the desserts forum here -- it'seasy to make and fantastic! I would want to have it even if I weren't on Atkins. You can add fruit or a crust made of nuts, but without those additions it's only 3 grams of carb per 1/8 slice.
I have trouble with adding links so if this doesn't work, it's in the "sweet treats" forum and it's called Easy Jello Cheesecake: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40834
--Sarah
ps: Two months tomorrow and I am almost 1/3 to my goal! It's been relatively easy so I am considering lowering my goal. I was thinking that after having been so fat, I'd be happy with "pleasantly plump." But I'm starting to feel like I might actually have a good figure again sometime next year :)

Congrats on your progress so far Sarah, and the board says you are over 30% to your current goal - great!
My goal too is 125, on a 5'0" frame, however I am open to changing it if and when I feel it can be done.
First why don't you wait until you are about 5lbs away from goal and then revisit it whether or not it is viable, then go from there.
Once again, great job!

Hi Ladies,
Josiemk: About knowing your build... i usually look at shoulder width as a measure. I've always had slightly broad shoalders, even when I wasn't so 'insulated' heehee... so I figure that means i'm medium buildish. My wrists and hands are tiny tough, which could be totally contradictory.
About my goal, I think 120 would be great, but will aim for 125 first, and then re-size my goal... no pun intended! That leaves me with 17 pounds to go. I'm at 142 now, and since my first post with you all I am able to fit into a size 8 with relative comfort, even though i've only really lost 1 pound since last week... peculiar eh? So, I'm using 125 as a guide and size 6!!! as a goal. And not a bubbling over in my 6, but nicely tucked in without friends on the side size 6 :)
x-mas is coming up, and my sister is coming to visit. She lost 40 pounds herself on 5''0' frame which brought her down from size 16 to size 4! She is really encouraging me to join her down there!!! I'm hoping to reach goal by March! Fingers crossed.
I had a bit of a cheat on saturday. Ok, a big of a cheat on Saturday. We had a dinner party at home, and then I ate leftovers on sunday for lunch. I hope i havnt done too much damage! I'm gonna work extra hard this week at the gym!!
Ok, happy low-carbing little ladies and
Happy Monday!
:p

Hi Trish, thanks for your advice! Waiting until I get down to 130 and then seeing if 125 is still a good goal sounds like great advice. My true goal is being able to comfortably wear my favorite clothes, & I'm pretty much guessing what weight that will be b/c I never weighed myself when I was a good size. So by then I'll have a better idea how close I am to the clothing goal :)
Yesterday I had a test of willpower -- a 6 year old's birthday party where the food was pizza, crackers and sweet cheese spreads, fruit punch, candy, ice cream and lots of cake. And I didn't eat a thing! I ate a big lunch before the party and just stayed away from the food table. If I can get through that, I think Thanksgiving will be a breeze!

Hi Louise, DonnaJ, Suzy, and all our other new friends!
I have been off line for over a month now...darn you get lost without the computer...and for some reason, I no longer get emails when there is a reply to this thread....
Truth be told, I have not been sticking to the WOE.....we went to Disney World the first week in November and I have fallen off the wagon since...of course we did so much walking around it offset the ice cream...We did have a lot of fun....but did not get to relax...surprise! Came back to craft fair madness, lots of nights with no sleep, just trying to get my products ready for sale....then the fairs are here, and now I have one more 2 day sale to go this weekend.....between the animals, and all the rest of my activities, I am beat!!
So much for my relaxing vacation! But as Louise and Donna know, busy is just my way of life.....I have still kept off 40 lbs since January, and I decided that I am not going to go overboard for the holiday season, but will probably relax my lo carbing.....I will start again in earnest on Jan. 1....if I can lose another 25 to 30 lbs next year, I will be very happy....it took me 41 years to get where I am now....I am not expecting to lose it all quickly.
I do know that without you guys, I have a very hard time staying on track....so I am glad that I am back and hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving....sometimes I complain, but then I think of everyone in the world who is so worse off than myself....I truly have a lot to be thankful for! Especially, all my lo carb friends!
So enough about me....Louise I am so sorry about your dog, pets are so much a part of our lives, it is so hard to lose them. I am on a goat list on Yahoo, and when folks lose an animal, they say they have crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" and will wait for us on the other side..sounds kind of nice to me.....so try to imagine your pup all well again waiting for you....you have my sympathy. My SIL lost the goat that I gave her this spring, she was poisoned by something she ate....I spent a whole day/night trying to save her....I was very sad.....
I just wanted to thank SCG/Suzy for all of your great advice on Disney world, you were right on the money with your suggestions and we had a great time.....next time we will do the Disney parks followed by the cruise....so we can relax a little before we have to go home...but it won't be for a year or two....
Remember friends,
We can do this together!
Carol
PS: Donna I tried to find you on Ebay, but couldn't, (of course I live in the information breakdown lane so perhaps I just don't know what I'm doin!

Thanks SarahO for giving me the link for that great recipe of Ruth's. We call Jell-O Jelly here in the UK (Jelly, the stuff eaten on toast is called Jam). Anyhow I have made the recipe twice now. Once with sugar free Lemon Jelly and once with Raspberry and layered it with thawed raspberries. Both were fantastic.
Thanks again. It was so good I think I will make it at Christmas. I also sometimes make the icecream from the Atkins book. It is very good and also very low carb. Just hits the spot when you need something sweet. I have typed it up with all the options given in Ruth's postings on the cheesecake, so if anyone wants it let me know and I can post it here or email to you.
Any other suggestions anyone has for low carb Christmas goodies would be very welcome.
Have a great low carb week. I'm making new curtains for the drawing room, so back to the scissors and thread now.

Glad to hear everyone had a good thanksgiving. Next holiday is Christmas, I haven't decided weather I'm going to plan a cheat or not yet, I'll wait and see how things are going at that time.
Carol welcome back I sure did miss you, I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip to Disney Land, it must be beautiful there, I'd love to go someday!!!! When January hits and your ready to go full tilt, on the low carbs, I'm with all the way Carol, because I know you can do it!!!!
Josie, your doing so well, it's great to see you were able to eat a little more carbs and still maintain.

My computer went to the great junk pile in the sky. We finally got a new one and my husband fixed another one up for me in my bedroom. How has everyone been? I promise I well be back each day to see how everyone is doing. We had a big snow yestersday and it is very cold in my bed room. I haven't losed any more and haven't gained. I am at 144 lbs. I need to get my butt back down to 20 carbs and finsih losing it. Well I better go and get some things listed on E-bay. Hope to hear from you all soon.

Hello All
Welcome back Donna. It sounds very cold where you are. It has been wet here in London and quite cold - about 10C, not sure what that would be in fahrenheit.
I have a friend in the states who is getting some low carb stuff for me. Has anyone used any of the carbolite range? If so, any recommendations, and where can it be purchased - preferably a store rather than online.
Also I have read some recipes using DaVinci flavourings. Where can these be bought? Any recommendations to the best flavours?
We don't have Splenda in the UK, so I will be getting some of that and hopefully some Stevia. Is Stevia sold in health food stores?
It's bed time here, about 2330, so I will sign off. I'd really appreciate some advice on where to buy the low carb stuff.
Have a great weekend.

Glad to see you are back on line too....we were without our computer for more than a month....it was a drag.
I tried to find the E-Bearettes on Ebay, but didn't have much luck...not quite sure how to find you.....sounds like you are still doing really well.
I too have to go back to 20 carbs a day, but have opted to wait our the next 3 weeks, and will shoot for New Years...I always seem so much more motivated at the beginning of the year.
Hope you are having fun in the snow! We only had about 4 inches, but it has been very cold...only getting to about 10 deg. for the highs...brrr....
I have another craft fair tomorrow....I will be glad when that is all over.....just hope I can sell alot of soap and gift baskets, so I don't need to carry them all home again!
Great to hear from you again!
Carol
We can do this together.....
PS: O2Bslim...I am not sure if you can get stevia in the healthfood stores....seems funny that you can't get Splenda, I wonder if it is sold under a different name perhaps? Good luck finding it! Carol

Hi There!
Donna good to hear from you, and to see you got a new computer, we sure do miss hearing from you, sounds like your doing great, you don't have much further to go....Way to go!!!
Juliette I really wish I could help you but unfortunetly I can't find this stuff in Canada either.
Carol I do hope you sell all your baskets and stuff too...I'm sure your soap must be wonderful.
Well I had a good weekend, Friday was my Birthday, so we celebrated on Sat.. I didn't eat any cake, but we had a fondue and I did eat the meat and some veggies and dip...
I should go, it's getting late and I have inventory to do in the morning....
It's really cold here!!!!
Have a great day tomorrow!!!

Hi Louise,
Happy belated birthday! You are so good, not having cake on your big day! Way to go......I have been carbo-loading it seems...don't dare to get on the scale! Can't wait til New Years!
I did ok at my craft fairs, still have lots of stuff left though, my BIL's girlfriend called and ordered a couple of heat packs from me,
(the ones you microwave to warm up) she brought it to work and now needs 45 of them by Monday! Yikes, more work...not complaining though....another lady came over tonight and went through the baskets and ended up spending $154! I love it! I feel great when people like my stuff...my goat milk soap is selling like crazy.....I won't have much left for me to give as gifts! (once again, I am not complaining! LOL)
Wll I better get to bed, I can hardly keep my eyes open!
Good to hear from you again too...Donna, Louise is right, you are doing awesome!! You are nearly there!
PS: We went to our goat club's holiday dinner and there was a terrific fresh broccolli/cauliflower salad that could easily be made into a lo carb dish, by eliminating the raisins in it....if anyone is interested I can post the directions...it was great.
We can do this together right? (Of course we can....you go
girls! :p
See ya,

Thanks, buddies!!
Your all so encouraging! It makes me want to finish taking off these last few non smoking pounds and then I can work on hitting my goal!!!
I'm so excited, Thursday morning I fly to Toronto for a short meeting and christmas dinner with the rest of the employees, because I'm the only one from the north I'm the only one that the company is flying there, I've never been in a plane before.
Well Carol I'm sure your busy making up more baskets and soaps, I wish you lived closer I wouldn't mind trying some of that soap.
Josie it's warmer here today and it's supposed to be nice all week.
Thank you both for the birthday wish!!!

Hi Ladies
I am going to start this weekend (TOM) so I was having a craving for chocolate. I did give in, then a little later I was having cramps & a little bloated. I don't understand why aren't my cravings going away,it seems I have to give in to keep it from getting out of control. I don't have this problem as much as I use to & I'm satisfied quicker. But still seems to happen right before I start. Do any of you all still have this problem? I notice that other people tell me their cravings are gone.
Louise , have a safe trip. Just think another 14 more to go. :yay:
Youall take care,

Hi everybody, boy I understand being short and how a small amount of weight makes a huge difference! I am 5' with my shoes on. I never had a weight problem until I got older and got a desk job. I lost 30 lbs on Fen Fen and got to 112. I gained some weight back right away and settlled in at 120-125 for three years. My husband like me better at 120 then 112, wants a little meat on my bones. I also felt good at 120 and was able to maintain until I had a hysterectomy, my husband became disabled by a work accident and we moved 300 miles away. On top of all that of course i had to find a new job. Needless to say I gained all 30lbs back in those 2 years. I have lost 14lbs on LC so far and have find the WOE easy to stick to. My goal weight is once again going to be 120lbs, or until my overall fit lose once again! Good luck to all!

I had a great flight, flying is great, we had a wonderful day and super was great I had filet mignon with veggies and a salad. I think I'll be going back in April for 2 days of meetings, can't wait to fly again.
The weather here the last week is great, very mild the snow has all melted, this is very unusual, but I love it.
Hope your all doing well.

Hello everyone
I hope you all had a good Christmas. Unfortunately I over indulged especially with the Christmas mince pies, although I avoided Christmas Cake which I love, but it is also my downfall. I am starting induction on January 1st, but so far I only gained one pound, which isn't too bad considering.
I have a dreadful cold at the moment which started with a sore throat Christmas Eve and was a full-blown raw throat, congested chest and head cold by Boxing Day, so I have been drinking hot lemon juice, which is probably loaded with carbs, but quite frankly I don't care as it is so soothing. I can't stop sneezing or blowing my nose, so that is all the exercise I am doing, plus crocheting an afghan in front of the fire like a little old lady.
It's raining but quite mild in London - about 12C-15C (50F??). I thought about some of you in the storms hitting the US in the past week, so I hope you are all okay and didn't suffer too much damage. Plus many of you will have had a White Christmas especially in places like Ontario, which must make it feel really like Christmastime.
Anyone joining me on a New Year's Resolution Induction?
Take care and happy holidays

How's everyone doing? I hope you all had a great Christmas. I sure did. I been doing a little cheating too many goodies around here. Then a couple days later went to see the new Lord of the Ring movie, I got butter all over my brand new Tommy Hilfger jeans  Well I know that I shouldn't have gotten the pop corn in the first place I wasn't going to but , we got there a little early & the movie started a 1/2 late for some reason, and the smell was getting to me so I gave in:devil: next thing I noticed I have a big dark spot on my pant leg.
Good news I weighed my self yesterday & no weight gain thank God.
Juliette, I hope you are feeling better.
Louise, I'm glad your trip went good. I like to fly too, even though I 'm scared of heights

Hi ladies! I had a wonderful Christmas. First, I went shopping for an outfit for Christmas dinner. Got to Lane Bryant and discovered that their smallest size is too big for me! Yes, I have finally gotten out of Lane Bryant territory. I think there is a discrepancy between sizes, because a large in regular stores is still usually too small. But I did manage to find something that fit and looked good! I can't remember when was the last time I bought clothes in a regular store. Or felt like my clothes honestly looked good on me.
Then, inspired by my triumph at the mall, I dragged out my storage bag of thin clothes and discovered that some of my favorites fit again! I felt like I had a whole suitcase full of new clothes, not just one outfit.
Then we went on our Christmas trip, four days in Las Vegas. We don't gamble, just sightsee, and we had the most wonderful time. It was the best Christmas I've ever had. I ate myself silly at nice restaurants and buffets, but we walked so much that when I got back, I'd lost a half pound!
I am jumping for joy over here :)

Hello Ladies!
Any big plans for New Years Eve, I'd love to have gone out dancing or something just so I could buy a new outfit, but my husband wants to stay home "How boring" LOL.
I got a home gym for Christmas, It's great, I've been using it, I'll let you all know if I get big muscles.
Sarah sounds like you had a wonderful and exciting christmas!
and I think it's great that you are fitting into smaller clothes, doesn't it feel wonderful!!!!
Josie I think the popcorn story is pretty funny, I hope you didn't ruin your Tommy jeans!!! Great news on no weight gain, especially over the holidays!
Juliette I hope your feeling better, I started this morning with a sore throat and runny nose, I'm over dosing in Vitamins, I don't usually get sick and when I do I can usually fight it off quite easily.
One pound gained, might just be water weight it seems we don't drink as much water during the holidays, and don't worry about the lemon juice, watever makes you feel better, do it then when your better we worry about the carbs.
Happy New Year to all low carb friends
We'll chat again next year!!!!!

Hi Louise,
Best wishes for a wonderful New Year! I have been pigging out for the month of December...but I have been back on induction since the 1st and away we go!
I gained almost 20 lbs since my trip to Disney world! Argh! But I knew darn well, I was eating all those carbs....I am truly addicted to that stuff!
But here we are in 2003....time for a whole new me! I am going to lose that 20 lbs and another 20 to boot! Hopefully I can keep it off!
I plan to do more exercise too...but we have had over 2 feet of snow here in the last 2 days with more on the way...except for shoveling, I don't feel motivated to excercise in this weather....once it clears though...I am heading for the ski slopes! DH took my daughter and I skiing on my birthday and we had a blast...I think Stina is going to be a downhiller! We have also been ice skating, sledding and cross country skiing so far...hey if you've got snow, I guess you better use it! LOL
I just logged on and read the new rules, and am wondering if I have done something wrong, because I never get emails anymore if someone posts here....I used to get them all the time, and it really kept me on track...I have to figure out how to contact a moderator, so I can figure out what I am doing wrong...I haven't caught up with the older messages, I just saw yours.....was wondering if Donnaj has been in touch....I will check back!
You know we can do this together!!!

Hi all,
I am into it again....I always get pumped up to lose weight at the new year....we can all do this! Hopefully, I will get the email notifications and I will stick with it....it is really helpful and encouraging to discuss this everyday...so it is embedded in our minds!
Donnaj, I miss you!!! Think of you often. I hope the Ebay thing is going well....
I am glad that Sarah, Josie, Louise, and Juliette all had a good Christmas! Sorry you are under the weather Juliette!
My Christmas was good, except we had 16 inches of snow that day, and couldn't get to DH's family celebration...oh well....I am glad my craft fairs are over....now to get organized for this year!!!
Our daughter's pony has been really sick, she is 37 years old now and is failing...she has been having heart trouble, and has had at least two heart attacks that we know of....so it is just a matter of time for her....I am very sad....I always want them to live forever! I just love my critters!! The goats are doing well, should be having babies again in mid February.....fun, fun, fun!
Take care all,
Hope to hear from you soon!

Carol, wow, that's amazing that your pony is 37 years old! Wow, she's quite an old lady! I have a friend with a 31 year old horse and she is getting worried about losing him too. She's had him for 25 years so in a sense, he's one of her oldest friends!
I am still getting email notifications so I guess it's not a system-wide problem?
Louise, the home gym sounds like fun and good for you for making time to use it! I feel like I'm doing well if I can do my exercise tape a few times a week :)
Juliette, I am thinking about going back to induction for a few days too since I've gotten a little sloppy about counting carbs. I want to wait till next weekend while my boyfriend is out of town so it doesn't inconvenience him. He's been such a trooper about accommodating me.

Carol great to here from you, don't sweat the 20lb gain, just get back on track and stay on the plan you lost it before you can lose it again, I'm here for you all the way Carol. It's so good to hear from you again, I'm glad you had a good Christmas.
WoW! your really getting the snow, we usually have a lot too, but this year is very mild and hardly any snow, we'll probably get hit hard in Feb. and March.
Stay away from those nasty carbs, I'm on a mission with you, I'm determined this year will be the year that I finally get to my goal, I don't have the urge to smoke anymore it's been over 9 months, can you believe it, thank you for your support in that department too Carol, you were great!!!
I haven't heard from Donna in quite some time, she must be busy even when she did post it was a quick hello.
Sarah, you'll do well back on induction, I've got all the carbs out of my body and I feel wonderful. My home gym is great I've been using it daily, I do upper body one day and lower then next I still do some free weights as well, must be working by butt has been sore since I've been using it LOL.
Have a great day!!!

Good things come in "Little Packages"
Hi everyone!! I was glad to see this thread. I have been floating around the support site now for about a week. Joined for the first time this summer.
Well all know how quickly the weight shows up on us...but it's it great how quickly the weight loss shows too?!!!! :D
I use rewards too. sometimes it is an effort reward...such as a new finger nail polish for following the program for a week. That way I have encouragement even when the scale doesn't say much.
I am 5ft tall and had gotten down to 124! I felt really good but wanted to firm up some more and maybe take off a few more pounds. I too am sm framed but have a rather large chest. :( I have that apple shape that maybe some have you have heard of.) Diabetes runs in my family, so it is important that I get the weight back off.
(I threw everything out the window for a few months and am paying for it.) I am on track now though and it feels great.
I would love to be 110-115...I really am not sure how that would feel anymore, it has been so long. I am 38 soon to be 39. Weight loss is so much harder.
I too would love to look like I did in my "fat" pictures from high
school! :daze: HA
Nice to be here and "Meet" you all.

Hi all,
I guess I never saw myself at petite. I thought you had to be really small (thin) to be petite. But I am short
I am 5' 2" really I dont even think I am that tall.
As of last week I weight an embarrasing 298 :(
I hate being this fat, and when you are short it makes it worse.
But I have jumped on the lc wagon and so far I am doing ok. This is my 4th day back on induction. I am going to try to stay close to induction. I tend to lose more. I wanna be thin so bad. I dont really have much of a support group around home so I come to the threads alot when I wanna get it, or if I feel the need to indulge.
Any way good luck to all!! We can do it. :yay:

Thanks, Louise and Sarah!
It is good to be back....Way to go with the working out Louise, we have a gym at our town hall for the residents, and they just hired a trainer to work with people...guess I don't have any excuses now....I better get down there...I went skiing on my birthday and am hoping to do more of that, and DH bought me a series of riding lessons for Christmas, so that will be excercise too...(I haven't done much serious riding for over a year now, since my horse had a foot problem, and I've been nursing him back)
I am so psyched...I've already lost 5 lbs that I had gained back...I was tempted to eat some chocolate the other day, when my pony was really sick again....but somehow I didn't and feel much better for it!
Just remember! WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!

 I haven't been on the diet or back to visit since July/August and I have missed you guys. I guess it all started when I started feeling dizzy at the gym and sick before meals. I thought I was pregnant. Then I was diagnosed with stomach bacteria. Then, I was actually pregnant for 5 week and miscarried, (I am doing good with it but it was rough). Then, I was antibiotics to clear the stomach bacteria. It went away and now I am having trouble with my stomach and small intestines. I am getting a lot of testing done this week.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I had not been able to be on the atkins diet and I regained ten pounds (I went from 130 to 140). Also, I have stopped going to the gym since August because I get sick when I try to work out. All that hard work to lose 14 pounds, go from 144 to 130----- only to go back to 140.
HOWEVER, now, I started back on atkins and have lost three pounds. Yeah, I need your support more than ever. I have not told my Docter about Atkins, because I am afraid he won't understand and make me stop. I just started back and it is working and I actually feel better on the diet than off.
CONGRATUALATIONS LOUISE V. IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN YOU HAVE CERTAINLY LOST SOME WIEGHT. I was looking at your stats and I don't think there was such a gap between your start and goal wieght. I could be wrong but wow what an accomplishment. I guess you get out of the loop for a little while and everyone gets skinny. I missed you guys. I am not sure if you remember me, I was only on this site for 6 months before I had to stop my Atkins and stayed away.

hi everybody
I am so happy to see a section in her for us petites!! I am having a terrible time of it. I have been on induction for two weeks and have only lost 3 pounds. why?????????? I am determined to lose at least 25 pounds. I HAVE TO....doctors orders. Seems the fat has found a home and hates to leave. I never had a problem before i turned 40. I always weighted around 115-120 and was very happy that way. Now I am at 160 and sad sad sad. I am only eating the foods allowed in induction, but it does NOT seem to be working for me. Excersise is difficult, as I don't belong to a gym, and here in Canada, the snow makes for a rotten excersise matt. Heeeeeeeeelp??????????????

Hello Petite Pals!
I am a newbie to all of this! I searched around the support sites and was unsure about posting questions in the Petite Ladies instead of the Newbies, but after reading some of the posts I figured I could find help to questions and a lot of support from you gals!
Today is day 11 of induction.....I have been losing weight but I have not had that 'burst' of energy yet~hopefully soon. I have been keeping with the 20g's a day and drinking all my water and taking vitamins!!!
I am wondering if Atkins Advantage bars are okay during induction. I ordered a catalog and it does say so but it is a bit confusing since the back says 22 carbs and the front says to count as only 2.
Also, I am wondering if anyone out there is fighting the battle with the thighs....I carry most of my weight in the rear and thighs and at my lowest weight of 129 was still having problems there!
Thank! :)

i am confused about those bars, also. I found them in a health food store and right away I read 22 carbs on the back and put them right back on the shelf. Well, wouldn't you know it, but my husband brings me three of them the next night and shows me they are only 2 carbs according to Atkins. soooooooooo I ate one! yummmmmmmmm. I have not lost any weight other than the 2 pounds I lost and have been on this atkins for 2 weeks. I don't know what is wrong?????????????????? I am drinking water, snaking on pork rinds to get my "fix" of crunch, and eating what is allowed. OH WOE is MEEEEEEEEEEEE

Hi all!
I too am short! I'm not quite 5'2". I recently reached 166lbs and developed some health problems. I have a rapid heart rate and get winded pretty easily.
I carry all my weight around my middle. My legs are thin and I have no rear end. Trying to find a pair of jeans is next to impossible. Once I hem something that will fit my middle, I've cut half the leg off! :p
Well, I'm determined to get healthy. I get rejuvenated reading these posts, so keep 'em coming! Hope to make lots of low carb friends!

After 11 days I am going to enjoy a little dessert tonight! :yum:
My scale at home is worthless~I have resolved to buy a nice one once I am happy with what it says back to me. I am using the one at the gym once a week for now, but I am measuring and before I get in the bath I am measuring and if you can beleive it, although I am losing lbs. I have gained one inch in my thighs!! My worst area!!! I have lost in other areas that I wasnt really wanting to focus on so I should be jumping for joy, but when the pants do not slide on any easier.....well.......
Have you thought about joining a gym or have you been doing any exercise videos at home? Maybe there are some Jazzercise classes near you. I used to go twice a week and loved it, but when we moved to So. Calif. the nearest one is 30 minutes away.
I hope you start loosing more soon~hang in there! :)
Hello Jeannie! It sure is nice to speak to other people that understand how difficult it is to find clothes that fit!! I hate how the clothing manufacturers make sooo many petite pants with elastic waistbands~like we shouldnt wear belts or tuck our shirts in......I actually found some petite pj's!! Hi! I'm waving my arms. But maybe you can't see me, 'cuz I'm short, too! :)
My original goal weight was like, 125. And then, when I got there, I saw that I needed to lose more, and eventually I got to where I'm super-happy, around 103. I'm so glad I didn't make 103 my original goal weight. Smaller increments work much better for me! No one ever says I'm "too skinny" unless they find out how much I weigh. I mean, I weigh as much as a large dog for cry eye! :daze:
Ruby and Dinky - Right on about the little bit of weight making a huge difference. At this size, 5 pounds means a pants size change. Ugh!
Anyway, here are my pics: http://www.lowcarbloser.homestead.com
Good luck to all the shrimpy newbies! :)

Hi Dinky
I know just how you feel - I'm not very tall, and when I started on Atkins 18 months ago I was 157 lbs and without clothes I felt like a sumo wrestler! I set myself a target of 124 lbs (British weight - 8 stone 12 lbs) and reached it in a few months. Since then I've been on maintenance, but I have never felt thin - I'm too small and rounded for that - to be thin I'd have to be emaciated and that's not a good look! At Christmas, I put on 5 lbs, and for the first time, I'm finding it really hard to get it off, so I'm going back on induction tomorrow. I feel really chubby - when you're small just a few pounds makes all the difference, so those five pounds have just got to go. I'm sure you'll get to your target weight - good luck.

Those carb bars:
The carb count is the effective carb count which means the effect it has on your blood sugar. some people experience cravings with bars and others don't. I don't feel bad with them but I never eat a whole one. I take them along if we are planning a trip to the "city" and I want something in case I get hungry.
I carry my weight in the middle too...no butt either. I wish my hips and thighs were the problems instead. I would like a waist for a change ;)

Hi ladies, well I decided not to go back on induction after all. I looked at an Excel graph of my weight loss and realized that I've been losing fairly steadily even though I've gotten looser with carbs. So I figured, if it's not broke why fix it :)
Tamm, your photos are inspiring! Wow!! My official goal is 125, but now that I'm half way there I'm starting to suspect that it won't be enough. My true goal is to look like my drivers license photo again before the license expires in Jan 2004, and I was pretty thin back when that photo was taken! Still, I think it was good to start out with a moderate goal. If I had started out thinking I needed to lose 60 pounds I would have been overwhelmed!
Karen, I am the opposite of you -- the classic "pear" shape. My waist has shrunk over 6 inches in the past few months, but my thighs and butt are still huge! That will be the last place I lose, I'm sure.

I USUALLY GAIN WIEGHT EVENLY ALL OVER...THEN MY STOMACH TAKES OVER AND LEADS THE WAY LOL..........I PROMISE TO START SOME TYPE OF EXCERISE, AS THAT MAY BE THE CAUSE OF MY NOT LOSING MORE THAN 2 POUNDS. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE?
THE ONLY CHANGE I THINK I HAVE SEEN OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS IS THAT MY SHAPE SEEMS TO BE CHANGING. IS THAT POSSIBLE? THE SCALE DON'T MOVE LOL

Good Morning Ladies,
I have a few spare minuts before leaving for work, so I thought I would check in.
Tamm your pics are great, you look wonderful!!!!
I carry all my weight on my hips and legs, I have a very small waist, every time I buy pants the waist is so big that without a belt, they stick out at the back, I'm sure that the weight is all going to come off their now, my doc said the first place you gain the weight is the last place to lose it, so don't worry girls no matter what our body style eventually it will come off.
HungryOne don't worry so much about the scale, if your clothes is fitting different that means something good is happening, the scale will move in time as well, it's always good to add exercise into your daily life even if it's a 30 min. walk.
I must go to work now!!!!
Have a great low carb day!!!!

I just wanted to thank you Louise for being so supportive. You are such an encouragement to me.
Does anyone else gain weight in their neck and face. Right away when I start gaining my chins double. I know I am only thirty but my face gains wieght and then my cheeks sag a little. I guess I would rather gain the wieght on my booty, better yet my chest!!
I have been reading your posts and I can relate with the stomach gainage. Besides my face that is where I gain. My legs stay little and my but is flat but wide. But the stomach area-- sometimes I look like I swallowed a water melon. I wonder if this is from giving birth twice that all of that area is droopy any way and then to gain wieght makes it stick out?
To the newbies-- just hang in there-- it will kick in before you know it , just stick. This is an amazing diet you will see.
Keep up the good work!
One of my boys is poopy :( , gotta go.

Dinky -
I know exactly what you mean about being short. I'm 4'11" and was 130 lbs. I am now down to 110 and feeling great. My goal was 105 but I just don't think I'd look healthy. I think my extra weight is in my chest. I can't seem to get rid of it. I hate it because it makes me look heavier than I actually am.
Best advice: Just stick to the diet and EXERCISE. The exercise is just as important as the diet. AND - Make sure you look at this as a lifestyle change. It's so easy to slip.
Good luck to everyone.

It's been awhile since I last posted ,but I wanted to let you all know that I lost those two pounds I gained over the holidays.
My extra weight goes right to my mid section , I'm also flat butted :( in other words I'm shaped like a boy. I haven't gotten pregnant yet I hope it doesn't get worst after having a baby.
BTW , hello new petites
Ya'll take care,

Hello all, and welcome to all the new members of this forum. It is really friendly and I have had lots of good advice from my low-carb buddies, so I definitely recommend it.
I finally went back on induction on Sunday. It has been quite hard, but I put on a few pounds over Christmas. I could tell because my jeans were suddenly hard to zip up again, and they had been comfortable before Christmas.
I put on most of my weight on my hips and thighs. I am 12" wider on my hips than my waist, although I do put weight on all over.
I had 6" cut off my hair. It is very thick, but sadly when I jumped on the scales there was no weight loss! How disappointing!
I was eating nuts over the last month or so, and I just checked the Atkins book and saw how high in carbs they are. 5 carbs for 30gms (1 oz) of peanuts, and I was eating 100gm bags as snacks!
For those of you on maintenance or needing a sweet treat, I have accumulated a lot of low carb recipes particularly for desserts as my other half is also on Atkins and wants desserts some nights. Let me know if want them and I can post them or email to you. BTW his weight loss has been much more rapid than mine, but he had more to lose and also runs about 25 miles a week, so I guess that helps.
I need to get motivated to exercise. It is chilly here, but not nearly as cold as some of the places you live. We had snow in London last week which lasted a couple of days and was more of a novelty than an excuse to find that old sled.
We can't get a lot of low-carb products here that you can in the states but there is plenty of water, meat, cheese and eggs, so there is really no excuse for me not to drop those 20lbs or so.
Have a great week and keep low-carbing.

Hello Everybody!! :)
I really enjoy reading everyones posts. It is so nice to have others to share what we are going through! :D I have a gym buddy, but she is not doing Atkins with me. I am hoping that when she notices the pounds melting off she will join me in LCing! Some days seem like torture ~ Chilis during induction is a major bummer! No chips! After induction I am going to bring some of my own with me~pure torture listening to the DH and children crunching away!!!
I looked back at the pictures of Tammera ~ WOW! Awsome for you!!
I am right there with Juliette ~ my waist and rear have about a 12" difference, too. Very difficult to try to even out.
Anyone thought about lipo for problem areas? Anyone have a good or bad story to share? I think about it now and then and then I think it is way to long of a recovery for me! But I like to think about smoothing out the rear & hips instead of being so lumpy looking!
Our other petite friends that do not have the 'pear' shape do not know how lucky you are to not have the problems with pants, as was referred to before about the back of your pants bowing out when you sit ~ forget about low-rise jeans at this weight ~ when I sit down I feel OVER exposed :o You other gals are so lucky to be able to wear all of the cute clothes! Dont get me wrong, there are cute clothes for the 'pear' shape too but you know how the grass always looks greener on the other rack of clothes!! The Dickies, Roxy and other surf brands have the cut for the no hip or thigh gals! I really should be thankful if this is the least of my problems ~ right!? :)
Here's hoping that in a couple of months we will all be well on our way to our goals!! Yeah!!
Thanks for being there everyone! :)
Have a great night!

I went to Chili's last night and it wasn't so bd, I had extra veggies, grilled chicken covered with cheese and bacon, and a salad with ranch. It tasted good, and wasn't too bad either. I think it was called Monterey Chicken. :)
And I've thought of getting cosmetic surgery, I will once all the weight is lost. I have medical back problems stemming from a HUGE chest,so once I lose the weight and get my muscle tone good and keep the weight off, I'm having a breast reduction. Won't be for about another year, but I'm already excited!!! lol

It is good to hear about the toils of the other shape...But ya know with an apple shape when you wear low rise EVERYTHING comes bulging out the top! AND it can look like you have Two sets of chests!!!( Sorry for the graphic discription)
We all have something otherwise we wouldn't be on this site would we?
Well, I didn't do real well yesterday but did great again today. I just let myself get to hungry. I took some time tonight to make sugar free jello and a few other things so I swould not be so hungry when I got home from work.
Does anyone experience nausea when they are in induction? I start to lose my appetite and then find myslef wantin things like fruit. Maybe I am just thirsty????
Chilis sounds good. I am from a small town so we don't have those temptations...but there is a taco bell :)

Hi Girls!
It's so funny that no one is ever happy with there own shape, I'm pear shape too, I have a very small waist and big hips, but at least I can say I have a shape now, before I was beachball shape LOL...I think we just have to learn to work with what we've got or get some plastic surgery done, when I reach my goal, and save up enough money, I'm getting a tummy tuck and some lipo done on my hips just to even things out with my waist a little bit..
This web site is still weird, it shows everything still at Jan. 12th is it just for me or is this happening for others, it's like its not updated or something.
I hope everyone on induction is doing well, stick to it....we can all do this one day at a time, and keep your chin up.
Have a great low carb evening!!!

Hi All,
This site is a little crazy these days...tried to logon and was told I had an invalid password...it was the same as always...now it seems ok, but I am still not always getting email reminders of posts...oh well....
I stuck to induction for 2 weeks and lost 6 lbs....which I was happy with...but today..went nuts on the leftover Christmas chocolate....arghh!
Tomorrow I will be back again...my Mom started today on induction too...maybe we can get after each other to stick with it.....it is soooo....cold....0 degrees outside....brrr...supposed to go skiing tomorrow, so we'll have to bundle up! We have had over 5 feet of snow since Christmas....we had snow everyday for 13 days straight...a new record....yesterday it did'nt snow, but we got another 3 inches today.....wow....it is only mid January. The only excercise I have been getting is shoveling snow and pounding the ice of the roof...40 feet up....with a rope tied to my waist and DH hanging on to my rope at the edge of the roof! (He is terrified of heights and just locked up on the roof, so I had to do it.....I was shaking a little myself when i got done! LOL....
Ladies, I need you to help keep me on track! No more chocolate!
Jenny, I am so sorry that you had a miscarriage...it is one of the hardest things to go through...I know because I have had eight and everyone was just as hard to deal with....let me know if you want to talk about it....I am glad that you are back.
We can do this together! And Just Say NO to Chocolate!!!(That is for me!LOL)
Stay warm everyone,

Ranger thank you so much for your understanding. I am sorry that you have gone through that eight times. I really can't imagine that.
My colonoscopy went o.k. they took two byiopsies (I can't spell  ). On friday I have my endoscopy. I still haven't told my docter that I am on atkins. I guess I should. He wants me to eat more fiber the only thing I can thing of that is induction safe is brocoli. Does anyone have any ideas on good low carb high fiber foods?
Low rise jeans. This past summer I didn't mind when I got down to 128 and I was toned. Now that I have moved up to a size 10 from a size 8 I don't think I look good in low rise. I have a big gut hanging over the edge of my jeans. These jeans cut right into me. Then my butt is hanging out the back. I think these need to go to the back of my closet. I think I am heading toward size 11, high rise BACK ON INDUCTION FOR ME, but that's o.k..

Now this I can help with....
I bought some Psyllium Husks from a health food store. It has vitamins and 8gr. fiber per 2Tbls. I used to mix it into things but have learned to take it with water like a pill. (It is a powder.) I have a recipe for Almond psyllium bisquits. They are slightly sweet and I like them...Check out my journal I will copy it there.
Another idea is the fiber pills that have 4 gr. carbs and 4 gr. fiber. They may help you get the fiber you need. The one that I bought is equate brand and they are safe for everyday...(at least that is what the package says & I haven't had any problem.)
And remember the WATER :D
Oh yeah, another idea. I sometimes mix the psyllium into oat bran or a sm amount of Malt o meal. I keep track of the carb count, and that way I can have some yummy hot cereal from time to time.
Hope this helps...and that your app. goes well.
Carol & Jenny sorry to hear of your losses!!!That would be soooooo difficult!
No ones ever plans to fail...they fail to plan....quote from someone somewhere... :)
We can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that I 'll type in a message & sometimes they may be long ,then when I press the subit reply it will take a long time then after wards it says some thing about server being to busy to subit my reply. And then just deletes the whole message. But I don't seem to be having any other problems withthe site.
For more fiber I eat more raw veggies like a salad w/ low carb dressing. I also eat a handful of almonds. I am more regular now then before when I eat high carbs. I suffer alot of constipation & bloating but for some reason I no longer have that problem. :D I also drink tons of water.
Carol & Jenny I'm so sorry your loses. I know that must have been hard. My mother had 3 of them. I hope I never have one.
I love low rise jeans they give me a butt but I still have a little lower back fat that will hang over. I'm short torso so they are very comfortable for me. But I hate when you can my undies in the back when I'm sitting.
There's a Chillies , in San Antonio ,there pretty good.

Josie, I too have been getting the "server too busy" reply when trying to post. My daughter suggested that before I hit "submit" I highlight all of my reply and hit CTRL C. That copies the reply to the clipboard. Then if you can't get through to the server you can go to your wordprocessing program and hit CTRL V to paste the entire reply there. Later, when the server is not quite so busy you can reverse the process and submit the reply again. It works. It's cut down on my frustration!
Low rise jeans?? Haven't worn them since I was in high school and wore hip huggers and bell bottoms! (Showing my age!) My tummy is so lumpy that even as I lose weight it looks like dough being kneeded to make bread! Since I have NO butt, nothing would show in the back at all! We are all shaped so differently, aren't we?
SarahO
Thu, Jan-16-03, 11:24
I have never, ever worn low rise pants, they were called hip huggers and they weren't back in style yet when I was thin enough to have worn them.
All this talk about pear shape vs. apple shape, hips vs. waist makes me wonder, what *is* considered a good proportion of waist size to hip size? I have a 10 inch difference right now. I would be happy to keep this proportion if the numbers were a bit smaller. Okay, a lot smaller :)
I want a curvy figure, I wouldn't want a skinny, no hips Lara Flynn Boyle figure like a boy. Which is a good thing because I'll never have it. :) I used to love vintage clothes because they flatter a small waist, big butt and big bust -- make you look like an hourglass figure. How do you all feel, do you want to get really thin, or do you want to keep some curves?
--Sarah
ps: tried the "pant-o-meter" today with my favorite thin skirt and I can zip it all the way! It's still way too tight to wear out, but still! happy happy joy joy :)

Hello All!! :D
You all are great!! It really cheers me up to come and read!! :D
Overall, I guess, I am happy that I have curves~I just wish they were not so drastic (sp?)~I feel like I have cones stuck to the sides of my hips~YUCK!!! I remember back in the 80's for a while there were more jeans and stuff to fit the pear shape ~ more fitted and a bit baggier in the rear and thighs ~ Guess and Girbaud used to make them in a lot of colors too~I was in heaven then :) Now when I put my jeans on I have to spritz water on my thighs and bend to stretch the jeans out a little so I cannot feel myself~UUGH (Of course, I refuse to buy any more jeans in a 12!!) Is that wishful or positive thinking?! :)
Carol and Jenny, I too, am very sorry to hear about your loses.
Not to change the subject, but I want to give a 'Yeah for you Sarah!!' Great to hear about your pant-o-meter!! Hope to be in the same boat soon!! :)
I have been doing pretty good with the eating, water and vites~although I still have yet to experience the burst of engery. I havent weighed since it is that lovely time of the month~a week early (even on the pill:thdown:) so it will probably go for 2 weeks!! Although, I am having trouble SEEING that I have been doing good. I still need a little snooze in the afternoon~I thought that need would go away~and the 'brian fog' going away~sometimes but.....please help me God! :)
Well, it is time for stories and bed time for my little ones ~ YEAH!! :p
I hope you all have a great night!!

I must be a weirdo, because my big loss is always right *before* my period. Every month I drop really fast the week before my period, then gain a little on the first day, then stay about the same until it's over. Strange huh? :)
Gungho, I think you are right that there were more fashions that flattered big hips in the 80s. I fondly remember those jeans that were loose in the hips and tapered in the legs. We used to pin them around the ankles to make them taper even more :) Now fashionable clothes seem to be all designed for skinny girls with no hips at all. Alas :)

Hello all
If, like me, you like to sit with a cup of tea or coffee and something sweet on a Saturday morning (or any time!) I have a recipe for cinnamon rolls with just one carb per roll, or less if you make the rolls smaller. Plus a savoury cheese version with only half a carb per roll. They are both really good and you won't believe they are so good and yet so low carb!
No Sin Cinnamon Rolls
4 eggs
2 tablespoons Cottage Cheese
2 packets Splenda (or equivalent to 4 teaspoons sugar)
2 packets Brown Sugar Twin
110gm/4oz/1 stick butter
½-1 teaspoon cinnamon, depending on how much cinnamon flavour you like
Separate the 4 eggs. Whip whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form. Blend until smooth the egg yolks, cottage cheese and 1 packet of Splenda.
With a metal spoon, gently fold yolks into whites. Spread into 6-8 mounds preferably on baking parchment or a silicone sheet on top of a baking tray/ cookie sheet. If you don’t have the baking parchment, grease the tray. They spread when cooking so make the mounds high rather than wide.
Bake at 150°C (300°F) for 30-40 min. At 30 minutes they were softer and moister inside, but I prefer them cooked for 40 mins. If you have a fan oven, reduce temperature by 25°C or turn fan off.
Just before they come out of the oven, melt the butter and mix with cinnamon, 1 packet of Equal or Splenda and the two packets of brown sugar twin. Spoon this over the rolls. They will absorb all the lovely sweet cinnamon flavours.
I have also used another two packets of brown sugar twin with ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, and swirled this through the mixture before baking. It gave the rolls a more pronounced cinnamon flavour, but doesn't make a huge difference.
Makes 6 large rolls – original recipe has1 gram carbohydrate each roll. If you are on your own I would suggest you make only half quantity of the recipe as they taste so scrumptious you will be tempted to eat all the rolls.
For a savoury version of the rolls, omit all the sugar subsitutes and the cinnamon, and add 30gm (1oz) of grated mature (strong) cheddar cheese or any other strong flavoured hard cheese after you have mixed all the ingredients, plus an optional good pinch of cayenne pepper and/or a teaspoon or two of freshly chopped herbs such as chives or parsley. Put in mounds on the tray and sprinkle with a little more grated cheese and cook for 30-40 mins as above. I usually make eight rolls from this, and, if I have done my calculations right, the total mixture only has only 3 carbs. That's less than half a carb per roll!
Both are best eaten warm straight out of the oven, or the same day as you make them.
Happy Eating
Juliette :D

Have any of you curvy ladies tried the Gloria Vanderbilt stretch jeans? They are sold at Macy's and I think also stocked at J C Penny and a few other shops.
I live in the UK where they are not sold, but I buy them every time I am in the US because they fit my pear shape well and and are comfortable. There is no bagging at the waist and the material "gives" as you move or bend or squat. I can actually fit into a size 8 of these jeans; I can't even get my size 11 Levi's zipped up. By the way if you are buying the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, try the regular fitting in the short length, rather than the petite range as the zips are too short on the petites and it is hard to get the jeans over your rear end when pulling them on.
They are not high fashion jeans, but great for everyday.

I must have been on the farm too long! I love to wear my Lee jeans that are 3 sizes to big right now.....they hang on me and it is a great reminder since they used to fit....of course I usually only wear them out to do chores in the barn.....my goats and horses do not have any fashion preferences! It is Friday night here and all is well. It is also my TOM and I usually gain 3-5 pounds. WOW I am so tempted to eat all the wrong things the week before my TOM.
O2BSLIM, Thank you for listing the cinimon roll recipe. I have to admit that I cinimon rolls are one of the foods I miss the most. I like coffee in the morning and the combination of the two can be just delightful. I will have to try the receipe.
My endoscopy went o.k.. The docter said I have a hyaital hernea (SPELL?). Again, he took biopsies. He said it take food 4 hours to pass through my stomach, the normal stomach takes 90 minutes. He says he needs to find out why my stomach is working so slow. Hey, maybe he will cure me and I will process food quicker which will make me skinny!?!? Just kiddin. I could only wish. Do you think he will make me change my diet if I tell him I am doing Atkins? My mom seems to think I should tell him.
Have a great weekend,

Hello and good luck to DeAnna and other petite ladies who have a lot of weight to lose. I am 5'0" and need to lose about 100 lbs. I started Atkins this past Monday (1/13/03) and 3 days into it I had already lost 7 lbs (I know it's mostly water, but it's still weight!) I wanted to share that about 5 or 6 years ago I did Atkins and lost 80 pounds in 8 months. It was the easiest weight loss I've ever had. Unfortunately, I later (foolishly) returned to my high-carb, junk food, fast-food eating habits and regained all of the weight. I subsequently tried Weight Watchers (low fat) and it worked in the short term but I did not feel I could maintain it. I fell "off the wagon" on Thanksgiving (telling myself it would only be for ONE day) but the carb binging continued for 2 months. So, now I am restarting Atkins. I am diagnosed with Type II diabetes and in only 5 days my fasting glucose level has gone from 185 to 125. I also want to share that I find Atkins much easier to do when taking an antidepressant -- I believe that low serotonin levels have a lot to do with the carb cravings. Is there anybody out there in Arkansas in the same boat? I would love to start a low-carb support group that can meet in person.

Hello All
Jeannie I am so pleased you liked the cinnamon rolls. I made them yesterday morning and they were great. I have found that if you leave the eggs out of the fridge long enough to reach room temperature, the whites fluff up a lot more and the recipe is better. I also make circular grooves in the mounds for the cinnamon/butter/splenda mixture to sit in. I also use any leftover cinnamon butter for dunking them into.
I made a different version this morning using the same method but with no cinnamon, butter or splenda. Instead I added 1oz grated strong cheddar cheese, ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, a finely chopped rasher of bacon and a few chopped chives and then topped them with a little grated cheese before baking. These cheese rolls were really tasty and less than 3 carbs for the whole batch; that's less than half a carb per roll.
A friend gave me a Jell-O jelly bean mold for Christmas. Has anyone else used one? It is that TOM when I really want something sweet so I used it for the first time today using a raspberry sugar free jelly (it is what we in the UK call Jell-O). It worked out really well and I ended up with about 80 jelly beans. I'm ashamed to say I ate the lot! They didn't have the hard outer coating of a normal jelly bean, but they were still really good. I'm definitely going to use it again, because I think it is totally carb free.
I am so pleased with myself because I have not cheated once in the last week, even though I have had a dinner party and also been out to eat several times. I have been making low carb desserts and baking low carb treats to eat at home. Maybe that is what I need to do to stop weakening. Oranges are my downfall. I adore eating oranges, they are my favourite food and I can eat them all day. Also chocolate I'm afraid, but as long as I don't have any at all I am fine. I can't have a small piece because I crave it then, but if I don't touch it all I am fine. Is anyone else the same?
Jenny I think you should tell your doctor that you are on a low carb diet. I know you don't want to as you are making progress, but perhaps you put a different spin on it and say that you are losing weight successfully following a low carb diet and that you feel better on it than a low fat diet (assuming that is true). Nothing is more important than your health and if he wants you to stop low carbing for a while, you can always go back to it when you are better.
It has been a sunny day here in London with a temperature of around 13C (not sure what that is in fahrenheit) but warm enough to go out without a coat. I know some of you are up to your eyebrows in snow at the moment. Do we have anyone from Australia or New Zealand in the group because it is the middle of the summer there. It is lovely how this group pulls people together from their homes all over the world.
Have a great week.

 Welcome to the group Cdana171. It is a very friendly bunch and you find lots of support here. I'm too far away for a support group (London, UK), but you will be surprised how much support you can get online from the group.
It is also nice to hear about everyone's different lifestyle from 5ft deep in snow or feeding new born goats or their first aeroplane flight.
Happy low carbing.

Hi Everyone!
I've posted a few times now and they didn't go through so we'll try this again.
Welcome Cdana, we're thrilled to have you aboard, you can do this, we have a great bunch over here, and we're all willing to support you in any way possible.
Juliette I haven't tried the cinnamon rolls yet but they do sound good, I'm just afraid that if they are too good then I will eat too many, like you I have a hard time I can't eat any choc. because I think then I can't stop myself, I'm a carb addict so I have to stay away all together. I'm so proud of for sticking to the plan and not cheating it is so satisfying isn't it?
Jenny I hope everything turns out well with your stomach, and I do think it is important right now wether your eating low carb or not too let the doctor know what your eating and how much, just so they can figure out what the heck is going on with you!!!
Hi Sarah, Josie and all the others, I have the big hip syndrome too and now that I can wear jeans, I love them, I get mine at Wal Mart they are called Bonjour, they are low rise petite, but not that low, and the best part is they only cost here in Canada $17.49 a pair.
Hope you all have a great day!!!

I won't mention what I ate but I cheated, even after the scale showed I lost some pounds. Tommarow, it is to the gym for the first time since August. What kind of things do you guys do to stay in shape as far as exercise goes? Anyone doing toning?
I think you guys are right about telling the docter. I think I will wait till I see him at my next appointment.
Time to go watch the golden globes and check my bids on kids shoes on Ebay.
Have a great Monday tommarow,

Hello Everyone! :)
Welcome and Good Luck to CDANA!! No matter the amount of weight we all would love to lose, we are all fighting the same battle!! :)
I have a couple questions today ~ Has anyone tried the gum you can get through Atkins? Does anyone know where to get it other than ordering it? I saw in a post somewhere that there is a gum by Dentyne that we can have~no sugar alcohols or anything.....what about the mints, taffy or meringues? I am really missing the sweets in the morning!! :(
Jennifer, I agree with the others that you should tell your Dr. since you are having some problems.....Good Luck!! :)
Thank you for the recipe for the cinnamon rolls, Jeannie! I havent tried them yet as I am still doing induction and they call for cottage cheese!! (Does it still count when it is cooked into something??)
Has anyone tried any of the pilates exercises? You know how those infomercials (sp?) make everything seem so wonderful!! I am looking for something that I can focus a lot on the thigh and rear area!!
I tried a 'carb-o-lite' chocolate bar today! :yum: ZERO carbs!!!
Have a great day, y'all! :)

Had an interesting day! Made mock mashed potatoes. (steamed two cups of cauliflower to well done, blended smooth in a food processor, added 1 Tblsp of sour cream and some butter and processed a bit more.) They weren't bad. My mother guessed that they weren't really mashed potatoes, though. I had hoped that she wouldn't notice! My husband liked them...but he gobs on more butter and seasons them so you can't really taste anything else!
My big accomplishment was the beef jerky I made in my dehydrator. I've pulled it out of storage and cleaned it up. It really did the trick. I'm really happy with the results. My kids are, too. Most of the jerky is gone now. My son devours the stuff. I had bought some london broil on sale. I figure I had about three pounds worth and it probably shrunk to about 1 and half pounds. At the store I buy about 6 oz for about $5. So I figure I made about $20 worth. The london broil cost me $4.50...and I made it with no carbs....just soy sauce and smoke. The store's jerky has 6 carbs per 1 oz. I'm going to make some more in a few days. My daughter will be coming to visit from college and has asked me to make her some to take back with her.
Gungho, I'd love to take credit for the cinnamon rolls, but alas, they were the wonderful contribution of Juliette. They are really good. I like the idea, Juliette of making little wells or pockets to hold the cinnamon juice. Mine rolled off, but I just dipped them. I'm going to try the cheese next. Can't wait!

Hi Girls!
Gungho my favorit work out for but and hips is Tae Boe, it does great in those areas, I find it really trigers those areas and it's fun to do, this is the aerobic I usually do when it's cold out, when it's nice I love to walk. For Christmas my familly bought me a home gym, I've been using that and I also do free weights, I work out 5 days a week, I enjoy it, so it's like a hobby for me instead of being a chore.
My girlfriend does the Pilates programs and she loves it, maybe someday I'll see what it's about.
As far a gum goes I chew Dentyn Ice it does have 1gr of carb. per gum, but since I've quit smoking that's what I've been chewing and it seems alright.
Have a great evening!!!

Jenny, Are you getting enough fiber & water that will speed up your digestion? I agree w/ everyone here that you should tell your doc. And bring your book with you so he can look at.
I'm from south Texas & it's been nice out for the past couple of days today it's in the 70's but it's cold at night. I love to go walking out in the country. I also do some toning exersizes as well.
You all take care,

cdana Where do you live in AR?
Though I don't have the same amount to lose my story sound very similar to yours. I lost 12lbs this last year. (alot on my 5ft frame) and was waning to take off another 10-20. I threww it all out the window in Oct and didn't get back going with the plan until Jan1. I have only lost 21/2 of the 12 that I had regained. :(
I have been following the program for 3wks now and did not show a loss this last time I weighed but rather a gain. I was really disappointed!! I need to keep it up anyway because I know this plan works and I plan on doing this for life!!
I too have found that it is the BEST plan when on antidepressants! I am on a low dose of paxil and have found that is has been hard to lose weight with any other plan.
I haven't tried the rolls yet but hope to this weekend!!!

Karen, I also gained in my third week. Don't worry, it will start to come off again!
Gungho, I do the Pilates for Dummies tape, not the Windsor pilates that they always advertise on TV. I really like it. It doesn't look that strenuous when you just watch the tape, but the exercises are actually pretty hard!

Hello Everyone!!
How is everyone doing? I hope you all are doing great!!
I am in need of help ladies!! I have gained 3lbs!! I have no idea why....I'm drinking the water, taking the vites, going to the gym....I am only doing cardio and sit-ups~no weight lifting.....I am still doing induction! The only cheating I have been doing is a couple extra cups of decaf with cream! Very discouraging!! Especially since I was in the teachers lounge at my kids' school and on Fridays they bring all sorts of goodies and there was this beautiful lemon bundt cake with icing and...I passed it up!! Five pounds should have dropped then and there for my resisting!!! :p
Has this happened to any one?? I know there are stalls, but......at least get me to 10 lbs then do it!! :) Has anyone done the Fat Fast??
Well Ladies! I hope to see everyone on soon!
Take care!

Good for you for resisting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Resisting hard but it is esp. hard if you don't find alternatives. I have really poured over the recipes to find substitutions that are tastey and low carb. This way of life is too hard otherwise because unfortunately there will always be those parties, lounges bakeries, etc. And sadly no one will look after your diet only you can do that.
I am still paying for my throwing this wol out the window in OCT. :( I am not going to do it again. Just too much hassel and discouragement. Why have to lose the weight twice? It was hard enough for me the first time! Ok enough of the beating myself up...WE can do this Everyone!!!!!!!!! :)

Seems like everyone else is doing good too, I can't eat anything that might tell my mind is desert even if it's only made with sweetener, I indulge too much, so I do eat very simple still.

Hello Ladies!
Thank you for your support! :)
Hope you are all enjoying the weekend! It sure was nice to sleep in ~ I am originally from Minnesota and Kindergarten didn't start until 9 something there, but here in California it starts at 7:45!! Yuck!! (helps for early to bed for the kiddies though!! :D )
Louise, my day is pretty much as follows~
8 glasses of water spread out through the day
multi-vitamin
calcium
birthcontrol pill
1/2 Adkins Advantage bar
cup of decaf w/cream
hamburger patty w/tomato (1-2 slices) & mayo
1 stalk celery w/ onion & chives cream cheese
cup of decaf w/cream
2-3 slices of turkey breast
2-3 slices of extra sharp cheddar
cup of decaf w/cream
steak
small salad w/vinegar & oil
1/2 of Advantage bar or 4 squares of a carbolite bar
cup of decaf w/cream
I am a boredom eater. When I leave the house I usually take a cup of decaf w/me to keep the hand to mouth thing busy (former smoker). After I quit smoking I went from a 6-8 to a size 16-18. I did Jenny Craig 3 years ago and was down to a size 10~went up to a 12 and a 'friend' introduced me to phentermine~I was down to a 6-8 and was happy at that size ~ that was last summer (I think I skipped ever being a 0,3 or 5 :))! Now I am 12 again and what a bummer this is! I am losing weight that I had already lost before!! What was I thinking :q:
As I mentioned, school starts early for the little ones out here~if it were high school and they got themselves ready I would have more time to eat something better in the morning (our kids are not bussed to school here so I go the school 3X's a day~we also own stores in a couple malls so my husband doesnt come home until 10:30 or so and that is when he has his dinner~I usually would eat dessert while he was eating just to have a some time together~I was really happy when the Atkins catalog came and it said that advantage bars were okay during induction~I could be back to my usual routine of dessert & coffee :) I read around on some of the other supports and found that most people are not happy with their results when they are adding advantage bars to induction......it is so hard to break the something sweet at the end of the day habbit ~ if this is my problem I couldnt have imagined that 1 advantage bar would send me into such a spin
Thanks again!! :)

Hello! I'm 24 .. and about 5'2" .. and weigh 196 (i think my frame is med. to large too).. I believe it is true that weight loss on us ladies does make more of a dramatic change.
I don't know if I could ever get down to 115 .. WOW .. i dunno. I just have to see how I do so far. My goal weight is 140 because ... once I lost weight (I was 18..you know that diet? Starvation.1 big meal a day and some exercise .. hehe) well I lost about 30 lbs .. so I got to about 150 I think. Well I think I looked good at that weight .. and felt good .. so that's why I'm going for 140 for now. If I feel I can do more or the weight continues to come off .. then more power to it!
its nice to hear from other petite women out there .. :)

Gungho, your menu seems fine, you may want to cut out the advantage bar for a couple days, and see what happens, I know this may be difficult but just as an experiment to see if that is the problem, you could have also been retaining water for some reason or other wait a few days and weigh yourself again..Hope this helps, let me know!!!
Welcome MysticAnkh, you can do it, just give yourself little goals to reach, I find it easier and less overwhelming that way.
Have a great evening!

Hi Gungho, I think you know what I'm going to say ... those bars are a big problem for some people. I think it is really too bad that the Atkins company pushes those bars and pretends they're perfectly OK, when in reality lots of people can't eat them. But that's another topic :)
Anyway, if you stop eating the bars you may find that clears your problem right up. If you are really dying for something sweet, maybe some sugar-free jello with whipped cream on it? Or there is a recipe on this site for a sort of cheesecake made with jello that's quite good and safe for induction. Let's see if I can paste the link:
http://205.214.88.131/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40834
Other than that, a small salad and one stalk of celery isn't a lot of vegetables .. the coffee with cream is probably taking up a lot of your daily carbs, so if you were able to cut back on coffee a bit you might could get in more fresh veggies. I used to drink a half gallon of iced tea a day, but by cutting back gradually I was able to kick the habit :)
If you do keep drinking four cups of coffee a day, you might try to drink more water -- even decaf has some caffeine in it.
Hope that helps! Sarah :spin:

Gunho, I think you need more water. And lot's of it. Do you exersize? If you don't you should start w/ walking like even 1/2 hour then work your way up to an hour a day for 5 days a week. Try green tea supplements for enegy (it has less cafeine then cofee & is better for you) maybe it will help w/ cofee addiction. I also take Gynema Slyvestre for my sugar addiction.
MysticAnkh, welcom to the group. Yes it's nice to talk w/ a bunch of other petite ladies. I rember when I first joined lowcarbers & some one saw my goal & thought I had an eating disorder, was uderrweight to begin with. I had to let them know that I'm only 5 ft zero inches.I think that a good idea for those mini goals. I agree you should go for the weight that you feel best are. Because not all 5 footers are built the same. I know alot of people that are 5 foot & look good at 100 but I look sickly because of my prominet facial bones.:skull: yeah just like that but w/ skin on it. And I know people who look good weighing more then I do, that are aroundmy hieght.

Hey Josie!
I'm from Corpus Christi. I don't know exactly were Marion is though .. what big city is it near?
I just don't know if I could ever get down to 120 .. I know that is a more ideal weight for my height(5'2"ish) but I have never been that thin!! Well maybe when I was like 11! I remember once I say I was about 12 or so that I weighed myself and I was about 130ish .. and probably about the same height (i stopped growing in height at that age) .. but I was just a little pugy looking.. I think I have a big frame. (big bones) So from 12 on I gradually gained more and more weight .. and have never gotten over 200 ..THANKFULLY! I've just pleatued at this 190ish weight since i graduated high school till now.
I have set a long term goal to try to get close to 120 .. cause if I make it to 140 then 120 .. isn't far!
The one time I did lose weight .. I was probably about 189 to start .. and lost about 30lbs to be about 159.. I had guys chancing me from every direction!! It must have made some kind of difference!! And met my hubby! But he loves me just the way I am .. now. He just tells me things like "you looked different back then" .. not What I think .. he would say. . "man you got fat!" haha . . :( poor me.

am so glad I found this thread..as a petite person 5'1'' I need to get down to about 115-120. I am on day 13 of induction and have lost 10 lbs and I am so motivated with this WOE ,seems to be working for me. I turned 50 this year and am going thru menapause and decided I was tired of looking "chumpy" as my sons used to say. I feel great , but long for the day when I can have some berries and cream!

Well I think I had better join this thread. I am 5 ft tall or short depending on who you talk to. My top weight was 252 and I am currently at 173. My goal is to go down to 120. But it would be nice to see 110. 120 is at the top of the healthy weight range for my height.
I was happiest at 125 but was a little plump in the thighs. So I have decided 120 is my gaol and maybe when I am there I will go to 110 but for now I have my sights set on 120. 79 pounds gone and 53 to go. Good Luck Ladies and happy lowcarbing. SMuffy

I am officially finished induction today but I think I will stay on for awhile longer maybe 2 more weeks I am doing really well and have no cravings however I just got finished talking with family in Ireland and we are planning a big celebration there in August so I really want to reach my goal by then and am already worried about falling off the wagon as there will be lots of Irish hospitality.
I am sure I will get lots of support and inspiration from my fellow petite low carbers..I just let my husband know that I want a low -

Hey Josie!! That is pretty cool ... you are only about 2 hours from me!! I don't go to SA very often...the last time we went up in that area we went to Shilterbaun(SP?) i can never spell it. I would be taking it now but I have to go in to work early and the class is from 12-1 .. i usually don't work till 1:30.

That is cool. I was in New Braunfel the other day, I drove past Schilitterbaun , and I was thinking I have never been there, because I was embarrast about my weight. And thinking I just may go this year. I haven't worn a bathing suit in 5 years & I see those pictures of then & I am so disappointed w/ myself.
Have you tried walking for maybe 1/2 hour?
Josie
I read a little of this thread...I have to go and read the rest. I fall into the category perfectly. I am 5 feet tall and I used to weigh 202 pounds, I am down right now to 142...I am hoping on 120 by the end of May. Nothing ever seems to fit right, and I feel very round around the middle.
I had a knee injury and am looking for exercises that I can do that will not put any preassure on my knee os powerwalking (which I did alot of) or jogging is out. Any ideas?

I can't believe I missed this thread. I've been l c'ing since Oct. 2002 and have only lost 14 lbs. I'm very discouraged since I haven't lost anything since before Christmas. When I did lose, it was super slowly. Approximately 1/2 lb. per week, on a good week, none on others.
I'm 5'3" and was 150 (possible a little more) when I started. I'm now down to 136-139 depending on what mood the scale is in that day! I'm not sure if it's me or my scale but I weighed in the other morning and was 137. When I got on the scale later that night it read 143! and no, I didn't cheat at all.
I noticed a lot of you have about as much weight to lose as me and I was wondering if you experienced the same slow weight loss as me?
Also, have any of you stalled for any length of time? If so, how did you get out of it?
I think I'm going to give myself another week or two. Then possibly switch to another plan. Maybe l c'ing just won't work for me.
Looking forward to hearing from some of you.

Hi Kim
I have had your frustration too...but let me ask a few questions which helped me. Are you exercising? Lifting weights? That will affect the scale. Weights may add weight because muscle weighs more than fat and you want more muscle because it burns more fat...Exercising will also help nudge the scale some...helping it go down. (Measurments tell more than the scale if you are exercising)
Are you eating much cheese? As someone reminded me cheese has alot of salt. Everytime I have stalled or gained weight I looked carefully at my daily eating habits and found quite a bit of salt. When I was more careful the weight came off much easier. (I was eating things like dry roasted salted almonds, dill pickles, cheese,) Also for some people diet soda can make them stall. I know when I have soda I get bloated from the carbonation. Once I cut down I look and feel much better.
I really love this plan. It has been a way of life for me now about a year. I blew it this last OCT thinking that I could start eating choc from our candy basket...low and behold I went from 126 to 138+ in the blink of an eye. (ok it was three months) but it seemed like a blink. I am on my way back down. Why I stopped eating this way I don't know other than I failed to plan lc menus and substitutions. I now make lc cheese cake, cake, bread, and have sugarfree candy around for special occasions. Since my cravings have dissappeared I can have that around without going crazy. (I just have to watch it during PMS time)
Good Luck I hope this helps!!!! :)

Karen,
Thank you so much for your reply.
I am currently (and have been for two months) exercising 5 times/week. I usually do the elliptical machine for 30 min. plus weight lifting for an additional 30 one day. On the other four days I take step classes which include ab work and some weight work.
I don't eat that much cheese so I don't think thats an issue for me.
I love the plan as well and I hate the thought of starting something different but I am truly at my wits end.

Hi Kim! I'm so sorry to hear that you're so frustrated with your progress. I went to your jurnal but it looks like you hadn't posted in a while. Are you doing Fitday? If not, could you post a typical day's menu?
Without knowing what you're eating, here are the thoughts that come to my mind. You've probably already thought of these things but here they are:
Are you eating enough calories? or too many? People here say you should try for either 10-12x your current body weight, or 12-15x your goal weight. You might play around with your calorie level and see if that makes a difference.
Are you eating highly processed foods like atkins muffin mixes, lc breads, pastas etc? Or foods with lots of hidden carbs like lc bars or chocolates? A lot of people here say that any "frankenfoods" cause them to stall. I'm kind of stalled right now too, & the first thing I did was give up lc food substitutes. Once before I stalled for four weeks, and I think it was the atkins muffins that did it. I gave them up and started losing three days later.
What's your daily carb intake? You are exercising a lot, so you might find that you need *more* carbs to support that level of activity. You might post on the fitness forum, Natrushka might could tell you roughly what carb level you need for your exercise regimen.
Are you drinking enough water? Taking vitamins? On any medications? Are you taking measurements as well as weighing? With your impressive amount of exercise, you could be reshaping your body without much changing the number on the scale. Can you see a difference in muscle tone, body shape, or ease of doing your exercise classes?
Try the "pant-o-meter" as well as the tape measure -- I have been finding lately that the scale hardly moves, my measurements don't change at all, but my thin clothes fit noticeably better. I don't get it at all, how can my clothes be looser if my measurements are the same? But that's what's happening.
Have you talked to any other people with slow progress. There's a forum for "turtles" and I know TeriDoodle is in your situation -- 1/4 to 1/2# per week -- and she's very friendly and helpful. She might be able to give you advice on how to tell if this is your natural pace, or if there's something else you can do to speed things along.
Everything else aside, how do you feel while low carbing? Is your general health, energy level etc better than being on a low fat diet? or not being on a diet at all? If so, would it be worth it to keep doing low carb and making slow progress? That of course is a question you have to answer for yourself.
OK, those are my thoughts for right now. I hope there's something helpful in there :) Sarah

Sarah:
Thanks so much for your post. My typical menu consists of two eggs w/ sausage, decaf w/ sweet n low and heavy cream for breakfast. Lunch is either a salad, tuna or whatever I ate for dinner the night before. Dinner is usually a meat (pork, chicken, beef) and two veggies. I try not to snack, especially now but when I do it's either nuts (haven't had any in quite some time though) or celery w/ cream cheese. I used to eat sugar free jello w/ cool whip but I cut that out as well. I drink approximately 120 oz. of water per day. This makes my daily carb intake approx. 30.
My clothes seem to fit the same as they did a month ago.
I'll take a look at fitday to see how my exercise program might be effecting me.
Thanks again.

Hi Kim, it certainly sounds like you're not making any mistakes in your daily menus. I found a page about plateaus, who knows, it might have something helpful:

you are getting so much exercise that it seems like you have to be doing something to your fitness & body shape. Have you checked in the exercise forums? Natrushka seems really nice, she might could offer some advice.

Maybe you should join a gym ,if you can afford or have the time. Water arobics is good for weight loss & easy on bad knees or try Pilates.

Thanks so much for that website Sarah. I read it and have tried several of those solutions. Most recently reducing my carb intake, caffeine, alcohol, sweets.
One good thing is that my keto stix were pink yesterday after not showing any pink for a long long time. Hopefully that might be a sign that things are going to change for me.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Oh yeah, the keto sticks might make a difference. Even if they're very light is OK, as long as you see some color. Maybe your carbs were too high before? Or maybe you were eating a trigger food that was throwing you out of ketosis. Congrats on getting pink on the strips again!
Also you mentioned earlier up that your weight fluctuated 4 pounds in one day. I think that is totally normal. By the end of the day you are holding all the food (& a lot of the water) consumed during the day. It seems to be burned off during the night. I used to have to get up at 4 am once a week and I noticed that my morning weigh-in was at least a pound higher on those days. So I guess that pound was caused by missing three hours of sleep. The next day my weight would be back to where it should be.
Anyway, good luck! Let us know if you see any progress! I am still not losing on the scale, but starting to see change in measurements. yay!
Yesterday I went out and bought a tube of fire engine red lipstick. I haven't worn makeup in years. I guess I felt like trying to make myself look nice was like making a silk purse out of a sow's ear (so to speak). But darn it, I deserve to wear red lipstick :)

Red lipstick!! You Go Girl!!!!! You DO deserve it!!!!
I know exactly what you mean. When you don't feel good about yourself and especially about the way you look you have the "who gives a crap" attitude. Why should I bother do wear make up, fix my hair, do my nails. As soon as you start to see a little bit of a change and start feeling even a little better, you become more motivated to do those things.
Well, I hope my color change is going to make a difference. I'll stick it out a little longer. I really hate to change plans because I feel I've become very accustomed to this one and feel as though I know it well. Hmmm, how well could I know it if I've been stalled for 6 weeks? Anyway, I think you get the point.
Thanks again for your post.

I too am short....I went to the doctor last week and he was very excited to see that I had lost weight...I had gotten up to a depressing 210....I had almost given up to get rid of my smaller clothes...10 years ago I was 118-120...5 years ago I had gained up to 180 then lost back down to 145...bought lost of clothese size 10-12,,,stayed at 145 for a few months...many clothese still with tags on...I have a size 12 pair of levis with tags, shorts, and a very nice silk suit with tags....Sheesh...My goal for the 4th of july is to get into the size 12's. Well back to the doctor...I asked him how much I should loose down to. He asked what I weighed when I was young and felt good...that was 115-118....so I need ya'lls support...This is a great thread...Patricia
