Headed to Vegas during Spring Break to celebrate my birthday. Need to know what alcoholic drink to order. Yes, I know that my body will burn the alcohol before fat--but, I can't celebrate my birthday in Vegas without a drink. :p In the past I'd go for a margarita but I know that's a no-no. Any ideas?

Rum and Diet Coke, wine, champagne, martini, any straight whisky/scotch/vodka/gin,or any of the above with club soda. Happy birthday- but the less you drink the better off you are. In Vegas the drinks are big and cheap- inebriated people lose more money in the casinos!
Have fun and be smart and safe-

If you go for wine, drink dry instead of sweet - less carbs.

Thanks for the great info!
Enomarb--thanks for the birthday wishes, don't worry I'm turning 28 and will be celebrating with DH, sister, & her man.
Lady Arya--never ordered wine before, just drank what was given to me. What would you recommend I order? Any specific name or brand.

Well, my tastes tend to change depending on my mood, but I've enjoyed Pindar and Duck Walk. I'm not sure how easy it would be for you to find those. Pindar is pretty well known. Duck Walk I haven't seen as many places. Both were local vineyards when I lived in NY.
As for something more widely known, I've enjoyed Kendall Jackson.
But for the most part, if you go to a restaurant or bar, each one is going to carry their own favorite brands. A safe bet is always to ask the bartender or waiter "which dry red (or white if you prefer.. I'm a red gal) do you recommend?" They usually list their favorite, maybe two. If they list more than one I just usually ask for their favorite out of the 2 or 3 they mentioned.
Using this method, I've only been steered wrong once. Every other time I've had some lovely wines.
HTH! and enjoy :)

Those Margaritas by the Yard are awesome.... Stay Away....
Here is a vote for the Single Malts or the Premium Vodkas...
Hit the bar at the top of Madalay Bay... Awesome view of the street and a great bar.
