I was printing out some recipes from Karens Low Carb menus and the portobello mushroom pizza calls for 1 tablespoon of Pizza or tomato sauce and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what brands I should use??? Thx again.

I would use any brand of tomato sauce, none should have sugar added. A commercial pizza sauce may have sugar added. On tablespoon in an entire recipe is not enough to worry about.

Most stores carry teeny cans of tomato sauce (about 6oz) and I've found them to be my best bet. Especially the generic brands as they seem to have little or no sugar added.

These aren't in the sections with pasta sauce type tomato sauce. You'll find it in the canned section next to the canned tomatoes.

HTH!

I too was on the hunt for a lower carb pizza sauce, and just when I was thinking of making my own using tomato sauce, I was pleasantly suprised to find that Ragu's pizza sauce has about the same carb count as most cans of regular tomato sauce - meaning no or very little sugar added. The net carb count was 4 per 1/4 cup I believe. Their "PQ snack sauce" aka "pizza quick" was slightly higher if I remember correctly, so make sure you choose the regular pizza sauce.
