For about 3 years I've had mild aching pain under my right ribs. Sometimes it gets kind of intense and I can't sleep. I read that drinking olive oil causes the gallbladder to push out a lot of some chemical and pushes out the stones with it. They recommended doing a 3 day fast with apple juice then mixing olive oil with lemon juice and drinking 2 tbsp every 15 min until 2 cups are down. My question is: do you think I could skip the apple fast? Do you think this cleanse thing would really work?

Please, please don't attempt this or anything like it.
Some gall stones can have quite jagged edges, and there have been cases reported where this kind of procedure has caused perforation of the common bile duct. This can lead to really drastic complications - such as death.
Do you even know what is causing the pain? I suggest you discuss your pain with your doctor.

Rosebud my lifeguard! My chiropractor told me my gall bladder was causing some of the pains I had in my hips and I'm going to lose my gall bladder, but I'm not sure how serious I should take that. How about a few tbsp of olive oil on my salad everyday?

The first thing you need is an actual diagnosis. I would go by what your doctor says if/when he diagnoses gall stones.
If you do indeed have gall stones, and they are causing you problems - pain intense enough to prevent you from sleeping sounds like a problem to me ;) - your doctor may well advise having your gall bladder removed. These days it is done as a laparoscopic procedure, so is a much less major operation than in the past. My sister had one fairly recently and stayed in hospital overnight, and a friend of mine even had it done as a Day Surgery procedure.
But this is all academic until you see your doctor and have some tests. :)

I believe the apple fast has 2 reasons:
1) Maulic acid is supposedly to "soften" the stones
2) You should have enough biles back up in your bladder so when you drink olive oil, it will contracted the stones will be puches out by large amount of bile
There are many recipes of the gull bladder cleanse on the web. But before you try to attemp anything, I can tell you that I've been having those ON and off pain under right rib that radiate into my right hip. Octionally, they wake me up at night. I was tested for gall stones 10 times, found nothing. As the matter of fact, they told me my gull bladder is absolutely normal shape and functions normally. As it turned out, this pain was IBS attack, that I am getting on ocation because of hormonal fluctuations. The colon curves under right rib, I think it's called right flexor, and when it goes into a spasm, it mimics symptoms of gull bladder stones. Real stones will give you unbearable colic like pain radiating under right shoulder and vomiting, ER kind of pain. So unless you got ultrasound and know for sure if you have stones, I don't think it's good idea to purge your gull bladder. I personally doubt it will help someone with real stones. As for olive oil and lemon juice, it's good for anyone to use it on a daily basis. Lemon juice promotes bile flow and mixed together, it's best gall bladder tonic and a very yummy salad dressing. I also like to drink a cup of hot water with a juice of 1/2 lemon first thing in the morning, it's great for cleansing gull bladder and liver. Generally speaking, all good fats will keep your stones free, especially when mixed with acidic food like lemon juice and vinegar.
EDA" Apples especially green and tart, are natural cleanser for digestive system due to high pectin content, and green ones contain the most pectin.

thanks for the information Dina. I'm going to see my Dr. next week. I really have no idea if I have stones, I only feel pain when I lie down. Maybe I'll just do the apple fast part. Completely scared off the drinking of cups of olive oil. I will get some lemons and apples. I never knew fruit served any function in our diet. I read radishes are good for softening stones too. So does that mean they'll just pop out when softened?

Once again, please don't attempt anything like this.
Gall stones do not soften!
This is a dangerous procedure to try. And eating apples will simply give you unneeded carbs.
Sorry to sound so harsh, but this is not something to play around with.

I had gallstones about 8 or so years ago, and it was very painful. One of the things the dr. told me to do while I was waiting for my scheduled surgery was to lie on my left side when I was having a lot of pain from it. It helps the gallbladder sort of stretch out so the stones can move out of the place they got stuck and cause you pain.
You really need to go to the dr. to see if this is your gallbladder and get it taken care of, I still remember the pain and I wouldn't want you to have to live with that!

Nawchem,
Don't do anything until you get thorough evaluation. I beleive that it should be freshly squeezed apple juice taken daily (1-2 cups) for at least 3 weeks prior to procedure not apple fast. No fats or oils should be taken for 3 weeks. I firned of mine did this a while ago, and she did followed Dr.Bragg's book to the T. Did it help? She claimed that she passed hundreds of small stones, but then she complained about pain under right rib that did not go away.
Green apples IMHO can be a part of a human diet, if eaten in moderation but not as a gull stone remedy. Large amounts of apple juice is not good for anyone.
Don't drink olive oil by cuos either, it can make you vomit and will give you horrendous diarrhea (spelling).
Radishes, bell peppers and broccoli can actually trigger gull stone attack when eaten raw, these vegetables are gas producing and can be hard to digest. I doubt anything can soften stones of any kind. But some ppl claim (my friend including) that they found some globs of soft green wax like substance after the ..purge. Drs think it's globes of bile, snce they dissapate pretty fast, while stones never do.;) It can be a placebo effect for some, or a ER visit to others when stones gets lodged in the bile duct.
Get a simple ultrasound done, this is standard test for Dx before attempting any procedures.

My apologies to Roz and all but, well, gosh, I've done the olive oil liver flush 18 times! My sister's done it about a half dozen times and my teenage son even did it. It's a perfectly safe, natural thing to do.

1. You're saying you're flushing your LIVER. The OP is talking about GALL STONES. While they are both in the digestive system, they are not on the same plumbing lines.
2. People don't get liver stones.
3. Do you have gall stones or symptoms thereof? We're talking INTESTINAL PERFORATION as the downside, not mere discomfort or loose stools. Even if medical treatment is available quickly, people die from perforation.
Waiting a week for a real diagnosis is not going to make much difference in the OP's state of health. Even more so, some home treatments may complicate the diagnosis.
We are not doctors, this is not a medical site, and there are plenty of "natural" treatments that are not necessarily safe.

Actually, they are. The gall bladder sits directly underneath the liver and both are connected to a common bile duct. The liver produces bile and the gall bladder is a storage unit for bile.
