My busy work schdelue does not permit me to continue with my
regular gym workouts. There's no way I can even squeeze in
half an hour for a work out.

My apartment is on the 14th floor, instead of using the
elevator I have recently started climbing the staircase. By
the time I reach the 14th floor, am totally exhausted and out
of breath and the legs really get worked out so good that am
unable to move for a few seconds. I follow it up with a 100
push ups (4 sets of 25 reps).

My question: Is it better to run up the staircase on alternate
days or is it ok on a daily basis. As before, bigger muscle
size is my main aim.

Thanks

I think that if you are looking for bigger muscle size, then
stair running would not be optimum at all (mostly working up
your endurance--not that there is anything wrong with that). I
suspect that you would be better off taking the elevator, and
squatting and deadlifting in your apartment for the amount of
time it takes to climb the stairs. Of course, you are going to
say that is not possible. Okay, for muscle size (barring the
look gained from fat loss in the area), you would still
probably be better loading a few cinder blocks on you back and
doing squats. The bottom line is, running (in almost any form)
is not going to get you significantly bigger muscles, unless
you are starting from scratch. Flames and opposing options
start here:

Get your priorities straight! Quit that lousy job.

Alternate days. Something that leaves you "totally exhausted"
isn't something you should do every day. Twice a week might be
OK, too. Consider one-legged squats or one-legged deadlifts on
other days.

How is that even possible? If you're really working 16 hours a
day, then I suggest you ask to have your hours cut, or find
another job. Working that much isn't healthy.

Then go to your nearest sporting goods store and pick up an
Oly bar and some weights and work out at home. There are
plenty of workouts that can be done in 20 minutes or less and
that require a minimum of equipment.

This will undoubtedly improve your conditioning, which is a
good thing. It will probably also cause your calves to grow.
However, it wouldn't be a substitute for squats.

Who knows? I would guess that if you can stand climbing 14
stories on a daily basis that the activity could hardly be bad
for you :).

I would do them every day (maybe have a day off every 4th day)
- however start off with say 8 floors (take the elevator) and
work up to 14 floors - once you get to 14 floors again you can
add weight on a back pack - when you have 30# plus on your
back and running 14 stair levels at a moderate speed you will
be in awesome condition

Huh. That's funny. I'm a tax accountant working 7 days a week,
usually 12 - 15 hours a day. I'm also the mother of three
small kids.

Nevertheless, I've managed to go running three times this
week, done spinning on my bike once, and gotten in two half
hours of "push something pull something squat something get
out" workouts this week. Last week I didn't run as much but
got to the pool for a swim.

Can you explain why your work schedule is worse than mine? Or
perhaps I just have more hours in my day.

Marv, this is our resident bookeeper who besides being soooo
busy as she says, also has time to be one of the more prolific
trolls here. My advice is to ignore her. The rest of us do.

Look at who I found over at the rugby group trying to

It's our old idiot chum Neil Simpson, aka Bully, from the UK
Rec bodybuilding group, where he is currently the

Aren't these groups odd, how they always throw up some stroppy
bastard that wants to tell everyone else what to do?

I am 55 years old from Ireland and have been suffering from
impotency for about 12 years. Im not sure if the pumping is
causing the impotence because I am not able to do it that
often may be 2 times a month. I watch the pressure even though
I use a brass pump and can't tell exactly how much i am
exerting. I hardly ever get any side effects like blisters and
so I don't think I am putting too much pressure but I still
can't get a hard on erection. I am now thinking to go in for
impotence drugs like viagra. I have heard about
http://www.canadadrugdepo.com that they offer ED drugs at
cheaper prices. Anybody has any suggestions?
