Hey Angela,
Back in July my family and I were planning on taking a trip to Disney. I really wanted to loose some weight before the trip, but only managed 5 lbs.(water weight) I was uncomfortable about going but used money in place of self-esteem. Figured if I spent alot and tipped real well, no one would say anything about the fat lady. Besides, my husband was overweight too, so that helped a little. When we got back and I saw pictures of my vacation, I almost died! Who the H_ll was that fat lady in all of the pictures? I could not believe what I have become. That was it! Pictures don't lie. I had become what I never understood. I would wonder how people let themselves get like that. It had nothing and everything to do with food. I would use food to give myself pain, pleasure, reward, you name it, I did it. It is/ was a constant battle. My husband told me to listen to an Anthony Robbins tape he had. It focuses on pain to make you change your life. I felt pain in being fat. I associated carbs with the pain of being fat. It works!Maybe you should take a picture of yourself and really examine how you feel about what you are looking at. Does it affect you at all? Does it make you sad, angry, or have you accepted it. For me that was my biggest mistake. For along time, I accepted it. Anyway, that's my story. How 'bout you?

I have struggled all my life with my weight and have tried every diet on the planet :( I see fat pictures of myself and then forget them.....out of sight, out of mind. I am strange......I think I'm not so fat until I look in the mirror. We are going on a cruise in June and I want so to be thin for that (or at least not as huge as I am now) What have you found to eat that keeps you motivated? I like chips and pizza and am so tempted :( BUT I have read several posts today and am RENEWED and am going back on induction in the morning. Thanks for answering.....please keep in touch! angela

Angela,
In the beginning, I was just like you. I still wanted to cheat, not because I craved them, but out of habbit. I would get naked and look at myself in the mirror until I didn't want that food anymore. I would feel the pain of being fat! I would grab the fat on my stomach and thighs until I had gotten it through my thick head what I had done to myself. I would visit the boards ALOT! Still do, as right now I am going through induction for the second time. I keep a couple pictures of myself on the refrig. One fat, one at my thinest, and one where I was happy with myself. I also keep clothes that don't fit around. I try to pull them on, every now and again, they'll fit. Then I pull out the next size down. I also keep a couple items that are too big for me now. When ever I feel bad about not loosing as quickly as I would like, I try those on to remind myself just how far I have come. But I always remember the pain I felt, how I didn't want my husband to see me naked, how I was embarrassed everytime I had to go to my daughter's school. How I was embarrassed just to leave the house! Pain, is an incredible tool if you use it the right way!
Till later,
Heather
oh, as far as food goes, I love grilled chicken breasts, steak, and peperoni for a snack!

I really have no idea where Lewisville is. How far away are you from the Four Seasons Mall in Greensboro?

Thanks for all the info!! Lewisville is north/west from Winston-Salem. If you are on I-40 west from Burlington the next city is Greensboro, then Kernersville, then Winston-Salem, then I-40 and 421 N split and you will then come to Lewisville. From Greensboro......about 20-25 minutes......I am NO good at miles just minutes it takes me to get there :daze: I started back on induction this morning and feel great! This is great having a buddy to chat with. till next time, angela

Angela,
That's great that you re-started induction! Today is my 5th day back on induction. So far I have lost 5 pounds. Three were just getting back to 150 lbs. And the other 2 are NEW !
I have had such a hard time loosing any weight for the longest time. Usually 2 or 3 pounds every 6 weeks or so. It gets so annoying, but really, what other choice do I have? NONE!!!

Heather, Why do you think you are losing so slowly now? Did you loose quickly in the beginning? Do you work out? I go to the YMCA almost every day. Cardio every day that I go and weight machines three times a week. How long have you lived in NC?

I lost my first ten pounds the first wk. Then by the end of the month I was down to a total of twenty pounds. It then took another month to loose the next ten pounds. ( Bringing the total to 30lbs.)Then about 2 months to loose the next 10 pounds, and I've been stuck there since the end of Nov. Now I am finally on the move again. Now granted I was not perfect. I had Thanksgiving dinner and cookies over Christmas. But only already after I was stalled. Infact I lost the final 2 pounds after Thanksgiving to get to 150 lbs. Now I am back on induction and doing alright. I gained 3 pounds while sick and the only thing I could eat was carbs. so decided to start induction when I got better. This is my 5th day on induction and lost a total of 5pounds. Three from before and 2 "real" pounds.
I do exercise. I have an XL glider that I use and hubby bought me a torso roller for X-mas. So all in all I'm not loosing slow, it's just not as fast as I would like!

Heather

WOW :) You have done GREAT! I have done good on induction for the last two days!!!! Breakfast is the hardest time for me.....I am really tired of eggs. I just need to get more creative with my menu! I have tried the Atkins shakes and they are sorta ok but I just like to EAT something.

Guess I'm lucky, I just love eggs! Scrambled, omlet w/cheese, Scrambled w/ salsa and mexican cheese, deviled, I eat it all.
Have you ever tried the flax o meal cereal? I heard alot of people eat that, and they like it too! Sometimes I'll have steak for breakfast, you know from the night before.
I'm glad to hear you're doing well with induction. I just got my energy back last night. Couldn't sleep, I was so wired. I think today was day 6. I lost count. Yes, I think today was day six.
I never had an Atkins shake, infact I never had Atkins anything. I think his stuff is so expensive compared to the other shakes and stuff on the market. I use body fortress whey protein powder. Choc. for shakes and vanilla if I throw in strawberries or to bake with. I think they taste pretty good.
Well, till later,

Angela,
Why don't you bring a plate of shrimp or another appetizer that you can eat. On New Year's Eve we went to a friends house and I bought and brought a big shrimp ring. Cuz I brought it I didn't feel guilty about eating as much as I wanted.
If you don't like shrimp maybe a cheese and meat tray or
scallops wrapped in bacon.
Take care,
Heather

Hey Heather,
I've been really busy....haven't been on the computer in several days. Haven't been very consistent on Atkins either :( I am really questioning the low carb route. I feel at times that it is the same (in an opposite way) as low fat diets. That once you add back what you have been deleting from your diet, you gain weight. Anyway, that is where I am at at the moment.

Angela,
You have to think of this as more of a way of life. Atkins is NOT a quick fix. Do you want to loose weight? Anyway you deside to do it, you will have to make changes in your eating habits. If there were a chocolate diet, I would have been on it! :D Nobody said loosing weight was easy. It is hard work no matter how you do it. One thing I can say for Atkins is, it's the only way of eating that controls your cravings. And another is you can eat as much as you want! I am never hungry!!! Low fat and counting calories, I thought I would die of starvation. About those carbs, you will be able to add in carbs with moderation, you just have to watch yourself to see what your trigger carbs are.
I'm here for you if you need support!
Heather
