Occasionally, about twice weekly, if I am lucky, I will do a workout in the gym but I am certainly not a keep-fit buff, always believing that too much exercising will wear-out the joints, however, here's an article that gives some food for thought: http://sciencenews.org/articles/20060225/bob10.asp.

Duparic,

For some reason the link does not seem to work?

BTW, I agree about exercising wearing out the joints.

Thanks for the link. Interesting read. Next week: the brain. (I hope, for me, that one is not too late!) :-)

Hmmm, exercise is brain fertilizer? Heh heh. I can use all the help I can get! Oh, the results they achieved in one study by rehabilitating paralyzed patients with exercise was phenomenal. 40% had some motor function after 2 years compared to 4% of non exercisers. Their Part 2 on Diet and the Brain should be interesting too. I read that the brain is mostly fat, so it should make sense to eat some fat!

Yes, I suppose you can do too much exercise. But I found out it can be really fun, builds confidence and it just feels good to work up a sweat. I read in The Arthritis Cure by Dr. Jason Theodosakis that it is therapeutic to the joints to do exercises because the synovial fluid washes in nutrients and washes out waste. Also, building up the muscles support the joints.

For people with back trouble or leg cramps, I think regular exercise and stretching is probably the best thing. And the list of benefits of exercise goes on!

LOL, I seem to recall it as 'mens sana in corpore sanem' (dative case), but then my latin was incredibly bad...

Well, a brisk walk certainly can turn me from grumpy nagging person to calm relaxed person - hey, maybe I need one now??
