:help: Hi All - I have an Over Active Bladder and take a medication called "DETROL*LA (Tolterodine L-Tartrate) 4mg. I tried going off of it and in doing so was going to the washroom every 10-15mins. with all the water I drink on Atkins even if I cut back on the liquids I find I still have to go - as little as it might be. Here in Canada I'm paying $70.00 for 30 capsules!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if it affects weight loss? :help:

Yep....same here.
I use a pad for protection, but have gone off all meds. After the first few months I seem to be a bit more regulated and able to control better. But....every time I get up I pee.....and if I get a twinge of need, I cannot ignore it! If I am going out, I have to adjust my intake accordingly. I always make sure I cut back at the end of the workday so I can get home in time!
I tried detrol, then went to ditropan (older and cheaper), but stopped that about a year ago. I have only taken them once in that time, and that was because of an infection.
If you want to get off the pills, try stopping a day or two....maybe on the weekend? when you can be close to home. Or cut back on dose and see if it helps. If the cost is too much, ask your doc about an older med.....you'll have to take it more often, but it's much cheaper....here in the US anyway.
I did have my bladder suspended, but it only partially helped. That helped the abillity to empty completely, but the bladder spasms were actually made worse.
If anything weight loss will help, as there will be less pressure on the bladder.

Try the following:
coconut (any kind but preferably the oil) (good)
olive lead extract (very good)
virgin oregano oil (not the culinary stuff) (excellent)
Each of these can be purchased at HFS. Each are synergistic with the others. If you should find that you suffer from flu-like symptoms while taking them then do not stop as it is a sure sign that your body had an infection which those substances are clearing.
If you do take them, let's know the results!

That should read 'olive leaf extract' and not 'olive lead extract'!
Coconut can be taken as desired; follow the instruction on the bottle of OLE and oregano oil about 5 -10 mls (teaspoonful) twice daily.
