I am currently pregnant with daughter number 3, due in June. I have hip pain on a pretty constant basis. I understand the whys I would just like to know how to combat it. I've seen the "girdles" that are supposed to lift the tummy and help support the back and hips. Anyone use these? Do they help?

I should mention I also sleep with a body pillow (have since daughter number 2) and I see a chiropractor regularly.

Oh man, yes! It was really bad for me with kid #2. My hips would just ache at night. (And yet, I'm trying for #3. They're worth it, right? Right? lol)

A pregnancy belt became my constant companion from about 6 months onward. One of those with velcro at the end, to help support the belly. It really did help. Also, a body pillow, but more importantly, a smaller pillow tucked between the knees, sleeping on my side.

Hang in there!:)

I do have the body pillow between my knees - what a Godsend!

Did you use the huge harness things or just a small belt? They have one contraption that looks like a parachute should be attached!

It's probably SI joint pain, I had that pretty bad when pregnant..and couldn't walk a few times EXCEPT.... for my magic support belt. hehe. It was one of those girdles, I got from Ebay for 7 bucks and it was a Godsend!! It really really does help. I actually used it immediately after the preg. too when everything was so loose. I used the one that you are talking about with the parachute but never used the top strap because it was uncomfortable. I think the name was mother-to-be or something, if it wasn't that brand it at least looks like the one sold by them. GET THE BIGGER ONE, not just the little strap that goes around your waist. You'll be really glad.

Lol parachute! Mine looked like this, except it had a bit more extra fabric at the front, to cradle around the belly if you wanted.

OK I am belted in! I can tell there is less pressure and I can actually see that my belly is higher. I think it may take awhile to get used to this contraption but hopefully it will all be worth it. I bought the version in between a single strap and the parachute. I hope I haven't put it on too tightly!

Btw, the pharmacy where I purchased this said to save my receipt. If my ob will write a prescription for the belt I can turn it in to insurance. Woo hoo! This thing cost $43!
