I have a feeling you have been smiling a lot lately and will even more in the future. For me, losing the weight effected me in many areas, not just in the size of my clothes. It's like I gave myself permission to have fun. Imaging how much fun life will be in 40 pounds. It's not that I think that losing weight 'makes me happy'; I am just more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me! Sometimes I overanalyze.....just a bit!

Pinkcaddy I kind of noticed the same thing even though I still have a ways to go.. It's an increase in confidence but its also a stamina thing. I now have the energy to have fun.

Brenda look at you! Already back to 213.5! Congrats!

I can certainly vouch for the increase in confidence. I even walk prouder if that makes any sense.

Thu, Jan-08-04, 00:26
I totally know what you mean about walking prouder. I had a funny experience a few months ago. I was driving up the traffic packed highway and was wearing a wrap around skirt. I have a bad bad bad habit of driving with one foot up on my seat (now that I can do that!). Well, the guy in the truck next door was totally staring and I couldn't figure out why, then it hit me...I'm not invisible anymore! It was cool and creepy at the same time. lol. Still have a ways to go but am enjoying the new body and new energy and the fact that I walk with my head held a little higher.
We are such an awesome group. We deserve the success we are acheiving.

I tried one of those subway Atkins wraps today. Tasted a bit like raw pie crust. I had it at 1 and by 4 I wasn't hungry but was dying to eat something.....hmmm. Tonight I am retaining water very significantly. Could be a coincidence, but I don't think I will go down that road again....too dangerous.

Have any of you tried one?
Bye for now!

I've tried both the Subway Atkins wraps and liked the chicken one better. I know what you mean about the tortilla, on the turkey melt it was stuck to the paper wrapper.

Kind of small for the price but it’s still great to have a LC choice when you gotta grab something on the go..

You know funny thing about those wraps. I think you are the third person that said they got hungry soon after. I'm wondering if they just arent filling enough or if they have some kind of hidden sugar.

Hi everyone; I hope there's room for one more! I have been lurking and posting some since June I think, but just had to re-register. I weigh 215 lbs today, which is where I was in July. so it's time for me to step things up and start taking off the weight, and I thought joining a challenge might help motivate me. I like this one because I can see myself losing 16 lbs :) --it's manageable, doable.
I've also just yesterday started using Fitday, which I used to think was just too much trouble, but since I haven't been losing, maybe I need to go to that extra trouble. Especially I want to see a graph of my weight going down, down, down!
Well, that's enough for now; I'm glad to be here, and very glad to be low-carbing!

Hi Everyone,
I've been missing in action.Don't even remember when I posted last.

My weight went up a little over the holidays but I am once again on the losing track.I am now down to 210 so I only have 11 pounds to go to make it to 199.
Been through a lot the last 3 weeks. My dad was in CCU during this time.He was on a ventilator for a few days.He is off of the ventilator now and in a regular room. Now he needs to get his strength back and on his feet so that he can go back home.If I can lose during this time then I can stick to it during non stressful times.Glad to see I wasn't over eating due to stress. That used to be way for me to deal with stress but no longer.

It would be nice to be at 199 the end of February.Don't want to put a lot of pressure on myself since I am still dealing with my dad in the hospital. My sister is also in the hospital with pneumonia. She's feeling better and hopes to come home soon.

I will take each day one by one.

Nancy

I weighed in today and haven't budged from 207.5. I have lost a 1/2 inch off my abdomen and hips from the exercise though so I'm encouraged.

Hey Nancy, glad to see you are back. Last time you posted you said you had 14 pounds to go to 119 so you have lost some over the holidays and that's got to be good. Sorry to hear about all your struggles with ill family. Just remember to keep eating well and stay healthy yourself.

Hope everyone has a super week

I would like to join too. Have decided that joining some challenges will hopefully keep me motivated.

I haven't seen 199 in a few years at least. I don't know why, but in the past, whenever I dieted, I would always stall around multiples of 10 on the scale. I think it is a big mental thing to see the next smallest number in the 10's column (or the 100's for that matter)

When I was in hs, I worked evenings in a nursing home. I bunch of us used to go into the therapy room to weigh ourselves on the doctors scale. I remember even then being hung up on the milestones, i.e. having to slide the bar to 150. For some reason, 149 seemed WAY lower than 151.

So, now for me it is the big 199

Quest
Mon, Jan-12-04, 09:58
Seconding what Roz says about the bar, I weighed myself at the gym the other day and was at 200.5, so I had to have the weight set at 200...I still haven't had the thrill of weighing on that type of scale and setting it at 150.

My scale at home this morning said 199, however. I am glad to see that!

Good morning all!

Wanted to check in. I think I woke up too early this morning. I had to get my niece off to school. My dd gets herself dressed, actually they both do, but I had to comb my niece's hair.

Anywho, my first mini-goal is to get back down to siggy weight. I weighed in yesterday at 230 so I have 10 pounds to get to siggy weight. I think I can so about 2-3 pounds a week so that will take me about 3-5 weeks.
Also, I need to drink more water and exercise everyday, at least 1/2 hour or so.

BBL!

Hi all,

Confession time.... I have really been struggling lately. I'm finding it extremely hard to stay on track. I've been doing this WOL for 9 months now, and it's more challenging now than ever. I don't think I have really lost any new poundage since before Christmas. I keep going up and down with the same 7 pounds. I dug out some new recipes to try, so maybe that will help me by having some variety. I want to lose this weight so badly. I took a full body shot of me last night. Ack... gonna post it in my gallery later today. I want to find an old picture of me around my highest weight and post that too. I avoided the camera so much back then that pics of me are few and far between, ya know?

So much has been going on in my life and I have been so stressed lately. I sometimes find myself crying (like now), and I wonder what I have done to deserve these things. I try and have a positive outlook on life, and I'm usually successful, but lately, EVERYTHINGS a struggle.

I know that if I didn't have this forum and all you wonderful people, that I would have been back up to 280 or more by now. I want to be at a normal weight so bad. What's normal? I don't know, but I want to be able to shop in ANY store and buy really cute clothes that I look GOOD in. I don't want my weight to be the first thing people notice when they look at me. I don't want people to judge me because of my weight. I want to love myself.
Ok, enough of the self-pity. I need a tissue.

Kelly_L
Sun, Jan-18-04, 13:40
Hi Bren

Sorry to hear you are having a rough patch. If you have too much stuff going on and you are finding this WOE is adding to your stress you might just want to go on Maintenance for a while. You won't gain and then when the other stuff starts settling down you can go back to OWL or even Induction. It's just too easy to say screw it all when the stress levels are up and I would really hate to see that happen to you because you have done so well.

And don't worry about crying- sometimes you just need to. Could be a bit of the winter blues settling in. Remember we are here for you whenever you need us.

heh Bren,

I agree with Kelly. Do what you can do. Try thought stopping by that I mean immediatley when you have a negative thought, stop and re think it in a more positive way. Some people even use an elastic band on their wrist and snap it everytime a negative thought comes up. You could get a very sore wrist though... ;).

How are you sleeping at night, are you getting rest and exercise or fresh air? Maybe you are depressed it wouldn't hurt to check that out with your Dr.

Remember we are here for you as well.

Hi Bren,
I know how it feels when you are dragging and it seems no weight will come off. I was so lucky to hit 199 right on New Years Eve (it conveniently coincided with TOM) but since then I have not lost anymore--I see 198 sometimes but it always goes back up. My body just wants to stay here! But based on your full body shot, people are already not going to be judging you mainly by your weight. You are a very pretty woman and you have an attractive shape. Don't give up! And I promise I won't either (I have been pretty whiney lately in my journal but I have some nice buddies who tolerate it!).

Thank you Kelly, Lise and Diane. You guys are great.
I feel a little better this evening. I cried a lot today, didnt get out of bed until 5:30 PM, and just making something to eat now. Scale is at 218. I am so determined to get it moving again. I do need to get more rest at night. With everything going on lately, it'd been hard to sleep. I also need to start exercising. I am going to dust off the treadmill and start walking tomorrow!!

Diane, thanks so much for the compliments on my picture. You have no idea how hard it was for me to post a full body shot. I am always afraid people will judge me by my weight. I need to find one at my highest so everyone (including me) can see the progress. I know I have come a long way, but I still have SOOOO far to go. We can all do this together!!

Thanks all for listening. I love you guys!!

Mon, Jan-19-04, 08:02
Hi Bren, Just wanted you to know that I've been struggling like you. Haven't really lost weight since the fall. I did go back to induction for 2 weeks to try and get things started again and I think that helped a little. If nothing else I knew I was doing everything I could to make a change and that was uplifting. Must have something to do with the winter and being indoors more, I'm always hungry (maybe bored, too). My biggest fear was re-gaining everything I'd lost so that helped to make me only eat "legal" foods. I just keep going up and down the same few pounds, but I am at a weight that I was 10 years ago and probably stayed at this weight for maybe 5-8 years so my body is used to being like this. Hang in there.

huggs2ewe
Mon, Jan-19-04, 12:28
Fishie and Bren, thats what the books say that your body will sit a weight for awhile when it is a previous long standing wt. I sit at 200 so very very close to onerland, 2 weeks now it's just testing my endurance :) but I too will gladly keep to this woe I know that it is what is best. I cooked rice for a family diner last night, hadn't cooked it since June, almost forgot how it was a bit mushy. Didn't have any, didn't even want any. I made a mock double baked "potatoe" cauliflower and everyone loved it.

I so want to be in onerland with you fishie swimming on down the river :). Maybe next week.

Do you folks realize that I haven't posted here for like a week? I somehow unsubscribed myself from the thread ACK!

I hope everyone is doing well!

Weigh in was Tuesday and the numbers read 202.5. That means that my 201 on the scale the other day was likely due to dehydration or the like.

I am inching closer to Onderland. I hope to be there by Tuesday (fingers crossed).

Hope everyone has a great week!

HELLO...WHERE IS EVERYONE?

Just a quick note to say I'm down another 2.5 pounds this week to 202.5. Only 3.5 to onederland. Yahoo!!!. :yay:

I've been finding on weekends I tend to get slack on what I eat so this week I tried strict induction type foods and 20 carbs for just Friday and Saturday and the beginning of the week I tried to stay within 20-25 carbs. I'm going to see if this works next week as well.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi everyone,

I was at 206.5 this morning. Geting closer now. Maybe by Valentine's day...

It sounds like many of us are getting our excercise in shoveling snow. Ugh. We have 14 inches here and they have canceled school again on Tuesday.

My 14 year old went out to do the neighbors driveways and was gone about 90 minutes. Unfortunately he left our garage door open the entire time. Now I have about 2 feet of snow covering my entire 3 car garage, with 4 and 5 foot drifts in the corners and a big 4 foot drift behind my car. What a riot. Of course he wanted to use the snowblower in the garage which would be a total disaster since there are things all over the floor and along the walls that are now buried in several feet of snow.

Going out now to shovel out the garage. Talk to you again soon!

I'm bouncing... back up 1# was 201 this morning 200 last week. I will try and keep to induction... won't make my muffins... won't have any nuts. Will get back into salad... just not feeling like I want salads sick of them. Will keep to simple proteins... no sauces even if lc. Maybe I can be in onerland for Valentines too :). I wt in kilo's then convert so I need to get under 91kg's. I'm at 91.6 today YUK. But I was bad bad bad over the w/e. Had the top of pizza on friday and 3 crusts:nono: :nono::nono:. Did better at pot luck on Saturday, kept to lc but ate way to much. Sunday kept to lc but made a lc pumpkin cake and had way to much of that. 3 carbs here and 3 carbs there 2 here..... you get the picture yikes. What's the matter with me it's like I've lost momentum or something. It's like I've got this goal ahead, reunion in the summer, where I would love to WOW everyone and I'm loosing my focus or something... maybe just bored hard to say. I am committed to this WOL but having trouble keeping the carb count down even if it is lc foods.

One good thing is I only gain a # then loose it, I haven't really had any significant wt gains... just stay the same go down a bit and stay, then go up a bit, down... the same #. Well thanks for listening to my ranting :)

Hi group,
I haven't checked in here for a while. As you can see, I've held onto my 199 (acheived 12/31/03) and slowly brought it down to 195. That last 4 pounds took over 6 weeks! But it shows that even what seem like miniscule weekly losses add up. I allow myself to have some sweet Lc treats such as carbsmart ice cream, but I have cut out other snacking (e.g. cheese, nuts) as much as possible.

My weight loss had just about stopped since it's been freezing and this year, as you mention HAS been relentless.... its awful!!! 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks.

the problem is I find that I need more food to stay warmer... not enough to gain but apparently too much to LOSE weight and I cant starve myself or I will blow the WOE and eat lots of BAD stuff...so for now it's a go with the flow thing.

Hi, I'm Melissa. I did the Atkins diet for a little while last year, but didn't quite make it, if you know what I mean. Now I have health concerns and HAVE to lose weight. So here I am again. Today is day 5 for me. I've lost 7.5 pounds.

I haven't seen 199 on the scale since December of 2002, which really isn't that long ago. I'm 20, so that's around the time my metabolism took it's natural plunge... (My freshman 15 was more like a freshman 50.) I lose weight pretty quickly, so I don't think it should take too long to get where I want to be. I'm at 234.5 right now. I'm hoping to make it to 199 by some time in May. I might be asking a bit much of myself, but I feel I can make it happen. I'm just really concerned about keeping on Atkins, because my willpower isn't wonderful. I HAVE to make it.

If anyone has any advice, I could really use it. I'm doing okay so far.. but the cravings are starting.

Hi,

Having a quiet day nursing a cold and have enjoyed reading most of this thread (I skipped through the middle bit - 73 pages did seema bit daunting!)

I've been doing a form of low carb since January 03 and Atkins since last summer.

I too can't wait for the day I make ONEderland - only three pounds to go but I yo-yo around a lot from 202 to 206, so I don't know how long it will take me.

Haven't been under 200 since 1994, when my daughter was only 12 and now she's at Uni. I always wanted to be slim for my children but I didn't make that - just have to aim for future grandchildren I guess!

Have been very inspired by all of you that have made it through the big 200.

Will try and weigh in every Friday. Best of luck everyone, we can do it!:yay:

201 this am. Getting closer. I had been bouncing around between 206 and 204 for about 2-3 weeks and I was getting pretty disgusted.

We went out for dinner Friday nite instead of Valentines Day. I had Mongolian Grill and it was fab. I did a thai style with pineapple chunks. I was afraid to get on the scale Saturday am, but was down. On Saturday I had crab legs and was down again on Sunday. I have had a steady loss on my digital scale every morning since 2/14. FINALLY

Now the bad news, I am invited to the neighbor's tomorrow for GNO and she is having the dinner catered. Keeps calling me and warning me not to eat before I come since there will be so much food and tons of deserts.

I have been cheat free (not counting those pineapple chunks!) since 1/5 and really want to be good. So, wish me luck. I am going to have lots of protein before I go. I will save all my carbs for the dinner.

Wed, Feb-18-04, 20:21

Roz, you can do it.

the day I hit onerland the staff had a birthday party with dairy queen Ice cream cake. But you know I was so pumped I had made it to onerland. I declined. Roz you are so close eat before you go and if you want to try something choose 1-2 items you can't do without and keep to the one bite rule. take one bite only and savour it. Then get a drink of really cold water.

good luck

Thanks for the support. You are right, I can do this. I am not going to blow it.

200.5 this am on one scale, and 199 on the other! (I know, why do I weigh myself on 2 scales every morning. Long story. I usually use the weight from the 200.5 scale.)

I keep telling myself that I have a good chance of being 199 on both scales tomorrow or Saturday if I am a good girl tonight.

Talk to you later!

GOOD JOB MISSAEC!! 10 lbs in one week. That is fabulous.

I want to report on my behavior tonight (it is 11:24 and I just got home)

I had the following at GNO:

2 glasses of red wine
salad
the inside of a sandwich (chicken, mushrooms and ??)
a bite of a lemon bar

Not too bad. I know I didn't over do on carbs, but I was polite at the party. I might be in trouble in the morning just because I haven't been eating after 6pm and tonight I didn't even START till after 6.

Anyway, I am going to drink another 32 oz of water and go to bed.

This is my first weekly report to this link.

Weight this morning was still 202, hurrah! This is my lowest weight so far and I seem to be stabilising, previously I've hit 202 and immediately jumped up in weight again.

Average weight this week was: 203
Average body mass was: 41

I'm one of those people who are obsessed with weighing every day, so weekly average is a good way of keeping my sane!

Very happy with this as I've been ill with a bad cold and cough all week and have done the minimum of exercise I could get away with.

Have a good weekend everyone

I am waiting till tomorrow to really feel like I am for sure in onerland but I think I might be here for good. I measured today and last time a couple of weeks agoa I was still the same but all tole I am down 3 1/2 inches. I really need to get back to my abdominal tapes as that is the only place I didn't loose. The most off my bust... so looking a bit like a pear  . But I am motivated again, cut out the muffins (lc ones) and the chocolate I think this has made a big difference. Who knows maybe I will get down to 193 (6# to loose from last Monday's wt) for my holiday on Mar 6 that's 2 weeks.

Sure you will be back on onederland in no time at all. I expect I will bob in and out for a while until I can get 4 or 5 pounds under target. I try and keep away from all processed foods, so haven't tried any frankenfoods, although I'm not looking forward to staying in a Paris hotel and being given a 'Continental breakfast' so maybe they would have been an option then.

I've really lost all taste for breads, cakes and pastries and even chocolate. Son won a large box of chocolates yesterday ane he and hubby got through most of them yesterday. I thought about them but I just didn't fancy one.

Mmm, low fat diet, huge cravings for all the food I shouldnt have
low carb diet, enjoy food and have no cravings

and the experts think the first is the better deal? I don't think so!!

Well done on your continued weight loss.

Well, I'm back!! I've been gone for a long time and obviously I've been eating like a pig. I was once down to 194.5 lbs, but recently creeped up to 219.5.

I don't know if any of you remember, but my husband was away in the military (training) not war that GOD. He's been back 7 months and it's taken me seven months to get back to this way of life. 7 whole months and 25 lbs later.

Day 4 - back in ketosis and feeling good!! Modivate me please!!!

I think it's best to break it up into smaller bits, otherwise you go stir crazy. One pound at a time, no, who am I kidding, with my extra super accurate Tanita scales, .2 of a pound at a time will do me.

Average weight for week is 198.8 pounds, so just hanging in on the 198 mark! However, last couple of days weight has been up to 200, think this is probably due to TOM so will hopefully disappear again soon. Body fat average is back down to 41% Hope I get back into onerland very soon :(

Well a few more pounds are gone... I'm down to 206 so 7 more to Onderland :D It's more and more in sight. Plus, only 1 pound til I'm 50% there.... feeling pretty great about that. Now I just need to keep this pace up. Having over 100 pounds to lose when I started, it felt like an impossible task. Now it seems as if time has just flown by, and here I am 6 months later and 54 pounds lighter. Pretty cool :)

I've been averaging 2 pounds a week for the past couple of months. If I can keep that up *fingers, toes, eyes etc crossed* then I could be down in the 180s for my birthday. That would be a very awesome gift :) Of course, I won't plan on it - no sense in setting expectations that might be disappointed!

Hope everyone's having a great week.

Well done, Missaec and Wynter, your are both doing great. I haven't had such a good week.

My weekly report in. Weight this week has yo-yoed up and down with no apparent explanation except TOM. My weekly average just scrapes into onerland. Feling unrewarded but I am feeling trimmer and my clothes are a little looser so I will not lose heart.

Average weight 199.8
Body fat 41%

Hopefully better luck next week.

Awesome huggs2ewe, well done on getting back to onerland so soon after your holiday. Association of margarittas and pineapple makes me think of pina coladas which are my favourite cocktail, argh. I could just fancy one now and its half past eight in the morning here. :yum:

Hey everyone. Way to pull yourselves up by the bootstraps. I reached onderland a bit before xmas. I got as low as 187.4 and then gained about 6 pounds. I'm now as of this morning at 190. I'm hoping to not have to change my stats tomorrow but even if I do I know I'll make it back to 187. We can do this folks.

Hey Magpie. I'm in a similar boat. I would get so happy about loosing 50 or so pounds and then this little voice in the back of my head would rain on my parade. " Yeah but you've got 50 more to go!" I tell it to shut the f^&* up. Negative thinking can be so debilitating. You've done extremley well. Hell, amazingly well. The world gives us enough negative talk about our chosen WOL. We don't need to add to it ourselves.

thanks Gabrielle,

It does seem like we need to look at the 1/2 full glass not the 1/2 empty. When we get to our goal we will be so astounded that we did it so quickly.

I felt the same when I looked at my pics from my holiday's ... feeling like I looked so FAT. But I can imagine what they would have looked like 35 pounds ago! Sometimes I look at myself and think wow I look great then I do an about face and think... YUK I have a long way to go. HOpefully the better thoughts will prevail!

Hi Kelly,

Not sure about words of encouragement, more of solidarity, I'm back up to 200 this morning and not at all happy about it - not even Starbucks to blame. I've joined Fitday to see if that can help. Busy reading up on the thread as I'm not sure how they work out the activites page. I hate yo-yoing too.

In March I've done loads more exercise and I'm still the weight I was at the beginning of the month.

Maybe April will be our month! Maybe I should do my measurements on Thursday and see if there is any change. Determined to keep plugging ahead - off to gym again this morning and then going on hopefully to see Mona Lisa Smile.

Welcome Azraelle and good luck.

:( Magpie, Kelly I'm here with you too. Had a really big gain that's brought me right out of ONERLAND. What is it, the spring air... I worked all w/e in my garden, shoveling and howing and planting. But here I am at nearly 202 again, well 201.9 to be exact. Yikes moving up not down for the first time since starting this woe. Gaines in last 2 weeks. Hopefully my planned joining of Curves will help get my momemtum back up. It started with slowed wt loss to stalling and now gaining. I need to get back in the groove. and I'm not really cheating that much but I know I have major carb creep. I can't totally use TOM because I have never gained this much only a little.

Let's hope April will be our month as you stated Magpie, as for you if you are exercising then you are probably gaining muscle. So positive thoughts for us all as we strive to meet our goals.:hyper:

I was never so big in any one place that I would ever consider getting skin surgically removed, except for maybe my upper arms. Just gonna wait and see how that goes.

My goal is not to cheat any in May too :D
Its not that far away so one day at a time should be easy.
I went shopping and did not bring any thing home that was not good for the diet. I even turned down a sampling lady giving out cereal bars--I love free stuff :D
I am going to make a vegtable tray and some deveiled eggs and gill some premade hamburger patties and keep it around for a quick nip or two.

I think I am going to make Monday my weigh in day so I can set my goal for the week. I want to lose 2 pounds this week.

I travel a lot and find that if I don't keep some LC stuff within reach I end up cheating because I get hungry. If space is an issue I take an Atkins or other similar type LC bar and a little baggie of nuts. If I can take my knapsack along then the choices expand to porkrinds and things like celery and radishes that hold up well without refrigeration. I also cart around a bottle of water.

Magpies
Tue, May-11-04, 15:24
When I'm away at the weekend I try and take my 'cool bag' with me. This is pretty small but bit enough to pack some cheese and meat in - this will keep for the day and I tend to graze. I buy some meat from the deli the day before. It's more difficult if I'm away overnight but if I'm going to be away for both days, I also pack one or two packets of nuts. I also take a couple of bottles of mineral water.

Something I've tried recently is low carb wraps, these are expensive but all my family loved them and they seem to keep well. I'll try and find out the info for you and post it here. I'm hoping this will be useful for packed lunches over the summer.

My worst nightmare was a couple of months ago, the hotel where we stayed overnight didn't do an 'English breakfast' and I literally coudln't find anything that wasn't high carb. I ended up with a couple of pots of peppermint tea. Fortunately, the venue that day had some low carb foods, otherwise I'd have been hungry all day.

 I just finished all of my finals. It was tough but I made it through the last 2 days without cheating. Especialy since my kids have cocopuffs here.
I allow them to only have one "bad junk" food in the house and thats what they chose.

I am so thankful for this board, it helps keep my mind focused when there are others I can relate to!

In the atkins book the "fat fast" for metabolical resistance says to have macs and creamcheese for a couple of days. This might help you Missaec

I know we are not suppose to eat the nuts on induction.`But I usually have a baggie of macadamias for school just to help keep up my metabolism. They are easy to over eat. So I measure them out for the day and try and keep in mind how expensive they are. The cheapest place I found to buy them was at my Publix they have a big bag for $7..and kroger has little snack size cans that are always on sale over here. Also for snack, my kroger carries the hickory farms meat sticks in the meat dept. They have no sugar added and 0 carbs. They come in a pack of about 5. So I have my macs and that for school.

I tried eating the chashews and almonds and peanuts. But for some reason on me it made me stall.

I agree the low carb wraps are great! too. I made quesadias the other day--
With avacado slices and sour cream. I found that I can only add them in once a week though since I am metabolicly resistant.

Going to make jello for tonight!

I posted for Miss that the mac and cream cheese might help for a couple of days of resistance. For water gain on monthly cycle. The only thing I can think of is actually drinking extra water and eating celery. Celery has potassium and sodium that helps the tissues and kidneys and do their thing! Hopes this helps!

miss,
i know that if you drink warm water with a half of a lemon's juice in it twice a day, it will definitely take the fluid off of you. i can do that alone and not diet and still loose 2 pounds a week. my uncle was told to do that when he was real over weight by the doc. for health reasons and he lost 144 pounds in a year doin it everyday. do not use lemon juice from a bottle though, you need to use a regular whole lemon (half in morn. and half at night). it is not the best taste in the world, but you can always add splenda. it works better luke warm though. i promise you that will work, or atleast it has for many. You can also use olive leaf pills, it is just a natural cleanser all natural herbs. it also helps skin, hair, nails, etc. it doesnt make you go to the bathroom with upset stomach or nothing, it is just a fluid cleanser. you will urine more frequently.

Kristin, check this thread for ooo info:
http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=167955

Yes, I've stayed on induction level carbs the entire way so far. What I do each day depends really on what the scale is telling me. I use it as an indicator if I've doing something wrong.. like too much sodium... I monitor everything pretty closely. Things have slowed down a lot recently, so I cut out artificial sweeteners and frankenfoods. Of course that sort of coincided with me starting this meat fast which I'm on through tomorrow night and me starting relacore and ooo.

As far as exercise, I usually don't exercise on days that I work because my job (cashiering) is a pretty decent workout. I mean.. constantly moving for 6-8 hours at a time..

When I'm not working, I play DDR... which this website can explain:
http://www.ddrfreak.com/
I have the home version and set it on workout mode... It's such an awesome cardio workout.

When I'm not playing that there's a fitness center in my apartment complex with treadmills and stationary bikes.. stuff like that. No weight lifting as of yet. Waiting until I get a little closer to my goal

Hi,
I am on a self-challenge to get to 199 by mid-July. (I'm at 227 right now).

Can I join in?

I started April 13th and I'm down 16lbs after 5 1/2 weeks.

Tom.
Welcome, Tom, I wish you luck on your journey.

;) Thanks Magpies! It feels like I'm barely crawling to 199. Ahh, I think I'll feel a lot better once I get there. Down half a pound today so I'm at 200.5. Hopefully it'll only be a few more days..

In the next 15 pounds I'll have a lot to celebrate... 199 is a big deal. 194.5 means I'm halfway to my goal. 192 makes 50 lbs gone. And 187 means I've lost everything gained since high school... 55lbs. I just wanna get to the first celebration..

It's just so agonizing. I'm one of the most impatient people you'll ever meet. How I'm managing to stay on LC so well, I have absolutely no idea, because I've always been too impatient for it and other diets in the past. It's part of the reason why I post everywhere so much. It feels like it's going by quicker. hehe

 10 days ago, I posted that I had been stalled for 2 weeks! Well you can add those 10 days to that stall! AARRGGHH!!

I still haven't budged & I have cut out most LC products & stuck with whole foods. Although I did cheat a little the other day when I went to see Troy. Since I wasn't moving, I decided to have a small bag of popcorn & diet coke. It did nothing to me (I didn't move up or down).

:D I bought some lemons & I'm going to try that lemon water. :D Does it work with cold water too? How many carbs in the lemon juice? I also decided to try the oil of oregano and so far that has had no effect on me either.

Marankath, oddly enough, last time I had that problem, I got so upset that I cheated for a week and a half and gained 5 pounds. However, after starting induction again, I lost that 5 pounds in 3 days. And then lost another 9.5 in the following two weeks. Not saying that my way is the best solution, however, maybe you could look into a refeed?

yes the lemon works in cold water, but they say that warm water works best. Good Luck to All !!

Welcome Soonslim, the more the merrier. Hope you reach your target. Some of us lose weight faster than others, 4 pounds is a good start in two weeks.

Fitday is a very useful tool if you want to check that there are no hidden carbs creeping in. I was surprised how many more carbs I was consuming than I thought I was.

I'm on a long slow curve as my figures in my signature show but it's getting to target that's the important part for me. I'm getting far too much lose skin anyway, my body need to catch up to the loss!

Best of luck

Julie

Still at 228 - gained one lb this week. Canadian long weekend. 3 days of 60+ grams was deadly.

Looking to buck the trend this week.

Hope to be at 225 by my next check in.

Still hovering at neh 205. I've found that the weight loss seems to follow something of a dialectical pattern of "2 steps forward, 1 step back" (with a step being about 4 lbs) over a period of, say, 2-4 weeks. So a stall isn't necessarily a stall, merely the body's retrenchment, kind of like it is asking you "are you sure you really, really want to lose some more??"

I gained a bunch of water weight and actually got back up to 204, but it seems I'm back down to 201. Hoping it keeps going down. :)

Wow... didn't know this thread was still around. I used to post in it the first time I tried low carb.. before I was talked out of it by my doc and nutritionist. When I joined the first time I weighed less than I do now... I was lucky enough to get started again and now I'm on my weigh down. I'm going to go back to the beginning and see which of us early birds on this thread made it to onederland.

I'm going to do it some time early in 2005.

OH my gosh.. I just went back to the first page when we started it. One of my first posts said I was at 270 then. It was over 2 years ago... what a hoot.
I'm going to read this whole thread soon and see how many people made it.

I am still a newbie to atkins but am already counting down. I'm going to set a mini goal of 199 by July 4. Working toward a 20 year HS reunion in September. I'll update my progress here and check out my journal too. I weigh in on Sundays.

What a magic number 199!

:hyper: Had a mild movement of the numbers. After a month and a bit of NOTHING, even mild movement is happy to see. 3Lbs down for a total of 31bs lost in total. 10 Lbs to go to see that 199. Can hardly wait!!

The warm lemon water, I think is doing the trick. Right after I started drinking it, things started to get a move on! Thanks for the great idea! (OoO has done nothing for me, although I'm still going to stay on it for awhile)

Wow marankath, I bought some lemons the other day and have been meaning to do that. I think I will. :)

How long after drinking it did it take you to drop three pounds?

And congrats on the 3lbs because that's awesome!! :)

This post, a few pages ago. Kristin62 on pg 80 (post #1195) suggested to take warm water (not hot) and squeeze the juice of 1/2 a lemon (not bottled lemon juice) into it. It is supposed to clean you out. Immediately after drinking 1 mug a day, I lost 1 Lb then I have lost 2 more since then. I started drinking it on Monday. Believe me, I'm keeping that up! Doesn't taste great, but it's ok. Hope that helps. :D

I tried it last night and I didn't think it tasted too bad. Are we supposed to use large lemons or small lemons?

marankath
Sat, Jun-05-04, 17:48
I think it tastes like Neo-Citrin (the cold medicine). I use large lemons. Don't know how many carbs though.
