When I am wallowing in self pity
and self medicating myself with
food, I am helpless and hopeless.

When I get out of the problem,
OVEREATING and EATING CARB
foods I know I shouldn't, I begin
to feel like a winner.

Being a turtle is a state of mind.
Being thin is a state of mind too,
and frankly, it takes some pride
to maintain your weight loss.

It is like one of your personality
defects CAN be of benefit for you
as long as you don't lose your honesty
and realize that LOW CARB is a way
of life, and not a diet.

Ned, turtles are not people who can't lose weight because they cheat.

Turtles are people who lose very slowly because of a variety of problems such as hyothyroidism, being on drugs such as corticosteroids, or just plain being a post-menopausal woman.

IMHO your post is insensitive at best. Please reconsider posting in this forum unless it is to offer positive support.

Being a turtle is being someone who has trouble losing weight no matter how hard they try or how long they stick with a healthy and safe plan. You are not describing a turtle at all.

Sorry to hurt anyones
feelings.

When it comes to feeling
helpless and hopeless, I
been there and done that.

All I am saying is Don't
Even 'THINK' about being
a turtle. Think about your
dreams coming true.

That is the word of encouragement
I have for Turtles. And yes, I probably
won't post here again. I am not trying
to hurt anyone's feelings, just encouraging
you to think 'outside' the turtle box.

Best wishes to you and yours,

Ned, I am pleased that you intended to encourage us turtles, but you need to understand that stating in the title thread that "Being a Turtle is a State of Mind" is pretty irritating to say the least for people who stay exactly on plan, yet due to various medical conditions, are still unable to lose.

Perhaps if you were a menopausal, hypothyroid woman on various medicines which have "increased appetite and weight gain" as a listed side effect you might understand just what being a turtle entails.

Thank you for the reply Ned. No offense taken.
