Ok Sh'ra...here it goes:
"Movin' on down...ward" -- Who's game??
I'm hanging in at the 250 mark...I did step on the scales and it came up 247, but I think it was a glitch, 'cause when I re-stepped, it said 250 again. Would have been nice though :daze:
Thanks for all the inspiration...happy LCing to everyone.

Great that you started the forum, SamT (great photo!!!) 235 is my next goal. It will take me a week or two, if not years, to join you and you may well be gone before I get there, but I think it will be fun to watch people move from group to group! Carrie Ann, you'll be there in a nonce :)

This is going to be short...I'm tired...it's midnight...why am I awake??
Thanks ladies for the sentiments. I hope others will join us on our way to 235.
Waking up thinner is definitely a plus for me, CA8 -- I guess I should turn in and give it a chance to happen.
Alto, you're doing super. Thanks for the pix compliment...that's my fav Pooh shirt...Tigger was out bouncing around, so I had to settle :D
Talk to you later. Good night.

Hi Mom (WAWT) & ladies/gentlemans ;)
Apparently you haven't seen my recent e-mail and post in your journal, mom -- that's okay. I need to inform my group also...I need...something... UGH!!
Yes, I'm having one of those discouraging days.
Here's the copy and paste version:
******
Keep me posted on how you are doing on the CAD diet. I'm hanging in with Atkins for now. I still want to pick up the CAD book and give it a read though. I may be at a stall, don't know -- could be too soon to tell. I'm sticking at 250, no changes. I'm still moderately purple, and my energy is still a plus -- so that's good.
I'm having trouble eating as much as I need to be eating...just not hungry. Plus, the recipes I've made so far using soy flour and protein powder -- YUCK!! Taste like cardboard and leaves a nasty aftertaste, even a slimy feeling on the roof of my mouth sometimes -- YUCK!! I thought I could get past it, but NO. This is going to be a problem if I don't find a solution soon. I guess I'm just discouraged. I can finally add a few things that I like using the "bake-mix" substitute, and the stuff taste terrible. I like the diet jell-o gelatin and pudding, but after I while you want a change. Not too mention, the other recipes that need "flour" -- good old fashioned toast, crust for a pizza/quiche, etc. Its frustrating. At least I can have some berries. "Bake mix" can't mess that up.
I'm not giving up on my weight loss though -- I'm determined to get the weight off. Hang in there; I will too.
******
Me thinks I need a stronger rope :p
That's about the gist of my feelings this AM. I hope the CAD will help you (mom) through your stall. I'm not sure what I need to do next. Time to ponder...UGH!! Maybe this is all due to the weather...its been yucky and rainy out -- BLAH!! If that's the case, there's hope for tomorrow -- the sun is expected to make an appearance :sunny:

Great pic, SAMT! I'm hoping to be over on this thread, soon. I'm off the bloating back to 254 again, and trying to eat well. And try not to be too discouraged. I don't like the "fake bake" stuff, either, so quite frankly, I'm ignoring it. I'd rather forget about "bread" entirely than eat stuff that mimics it but tastes gross. Besides, I wonder if maybe by trying to "fake" our way through, we're still catering to that bread/sweets/carb addiction. I've been really thinking that perhaps I need to stick to the natural, "real" food - ditch the artificial stuff. Fruit is satisfying my desire for sweets. Nuts satisfy my desire for bread (though have to be careful not to eat too many).
Perhaps if we did that, we could actually have something whole grain every long once-in-awhile; that's gotta be healthier than prefab chemical food.

Hi to all. First, thanks to everyone. Your support is great, especially when I'm down. Its great knowing that you are there to help pick me up. I'm feeling much better today. :D
As I mentioned, its day 20 for me on Atkins. I've been holding at 250 for almost a week now -- going by last Wednesday's weighing, not Sunday's confirmation. Its a bit frustrating, because I haven't altered my eating too much, except for the fact that I'm not hungry a lot of the time. I'm still drinking plenty of water and I'm still moderately purple. My energy is doing great, also. About my only "biggest" problem is GAS. :( It can be downright uncomfortable and painful at times, like this morning. It doesn't help me sleep well at night either, plus it churns my stomach. Any ideas? I'm going to the store today to pick up some Gas-X and MOM.
I'm hanging in there, despite the frustrations. My mom (WAWTigress), has added CAD to her diet. She's recommended it to me, so I've ordered the book from the library. I may give it a shot, just to see if it helps me past this phase or if it works better for me. I've read a lot where people have used both and it worked for them. Maybe its the kick I need. Any thoughts??
Well, I gotta run. I'll check back in later. Have a super day everyone.

I think I'll join your countdown to 235 club--I too have been stuck between 248 and 251 for a while--perhaps thinking about 235 as a definite goal will get me there :D
So is the 250 mark like some kind of necessary plateau or what?!?!?!?!
Well--I guess I better suck down some more water and hope that flushes the fat out.....I haven't been drinking like I should
Thanks for starting this thread--I think we all need encouragement to keep sliding down the  scale :exclm:

hi. im still getting migranes. im starting to believe that the diet is contributing to them. i dont think that im eating enough, could that cause it? ive been drinking my water ok, maybe i should do more of that too. i dont know. i just know that i dont want these headahces anymore.
Carrie-Ann
SAMTigress
Fri, Dec-21-01, 06:22
First, CarrieAnn, hang in there. I can empathize with you on the migraines. I get them also, of course I haven't had one recently, so that's good. I stay away from artificial sweetners, like Sweet N Low and Equal because they tend to cause and/or worsen my migraines. I use Splenda instead. You may want to give that a shot and see if it works for you. I wish I could say more.
Last, I'm not doing to well. Not in the weight department, but in the health department. I mentioned a while back, I was having a lot of problems with gas pain and discomfort, well it finally came to a head Wednesday afternoon. Severe stomach cramps, headache (no migraine, thank the Lord), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, etc.
:(
Today is a little better, but not much. Nothing I take has helped much either; I'm just resting and drinking as many fluids as I can tolerate. My appetite has been nil. Yesterday, all I could keep down was some toast and a few bites of oatmeal. Not on my diet, yea, but anything else and I wanted to vomit. UGH!! About the only good thing that's come out of it, is the 4 pounds less on the scales...not exactly the healthiest way to lose weight, huh?! I hope I'll be doing better soon. I don't want to mess up what I've done to this point, but I have to eat something, and toast and oatmeal are the only things tolerable at the moment. Wish me luck.
I pray everyone else is doing better.
CarrieAnn8
Fri, Dec-21-01, 07:46
Thanks SAM i will try the Splenda. So far today i dont have a headache. I have to pay more attention to what im doing.
As far as your health is concerned, please be careful. It might be a virus but if you dont feel better soon, you should go and see what the Doctor says.
Im off to the hospital now, my sister is having a baby.
Everyone take care and see you soon.

Hi everyone. Sorry its been a couple days, but I was feeling pretty YUCKY and the PC was the furthest thing from my mind. I ended up having to resort to some toast and oatmeal one day 'cause that's all I could keep down, but I'm back on track now. Prior to getting sick, I was already showing a loss, but I wanted to wait till today to confirm, plus to get over my bug. I've lost 2 more pounds for a total of 12 pounds now, and I've lost another 3" BWH. This is great. I'm so happy.

I'm going off shortly, but I wanted to check in and let you know that I'm feeling better...and to share my good news with you all. Have a super day, and God bless.

Everything is going well here. I'm still hanging out at the 248 mark, so that's wonderful. I was afraid I may have blown it yesterday. I was out all day and forgot to take stuff with me, so I had to improvise. Hard, but no cheating.

Hi all!
I'm staying off the scale until New Years Day, and we'll see where I'm at then. I just stopped by here to say thanks for creating this place. These countdown clubs are a nice place to check and see what is going on with others who are at a similar place.
I haven't been consistent over this holiday season, so when I weigh on Jan 1, I'm just hoping I haven't gone up  :)
As I mentioned in my Journal, I did take a planned vacation from the plan for a few days at Christmas. But, as always, such things reinforce my conviction that LC is the way for me.
Keep on keepin' on :exclm:

Hello to all. How are things going with you?
Hi Firespirit, glad to see you pop back in -- and, you are very welcome. Please come back often and let us know how you are doing. Your pix looks great!! I wish you well with your New Year's Day weigh-in. Think positive, and no matter what it says -- don't give up.
I don't know if I've got a bit of good news or not, really -- its a little too early to confirm. But, since Sunday, I've been hanging out at 248/249, then this AM I stepped on the scales to see if anything has changed it read 247 :daze:
It'd be nice if it stays that way or goes lower. I'll confirm it this coming Sunday since that is the weight I go by. I've tried not to weigh myself everday, but its impossible. Plus, I like my sister-in-law's scales much better -- her's say I'm 15 pounds lighter. UGH!!
I'm hanging in there - here - everywhere. :p
Have a super and blessed day!!

Good morning. I pray you are all doing well. It was 25 degrees outside when I got up this AM. I'm cold and in need of cocoa, so --
I made some hot cocoa this AM using the recipe on the Hershey cocoa container and substituting some things:
3 teaspoons Hershey's cocoa
2 tablespoons Splenda (instead of sugar)
Dash of salt, optional
Mix together well in a mug. Set aside.
1 cup Half 'n Half or Cream, I used Half n' Half (instead of milk)
Pour Half 'n Half into a microwave-safe measuring cup (glass) and heat on HIGH (100%) for 1 1/2 minutes or till desired temp (1 1/2 minutes is perfect for my microwave).
Gradually add Half 'n Half to cocoa mixture, stirring well.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of Vanilla and stir well. Drink and enjoy.
You could also squirt some whip cream on top if you wanted to, for an added treat. I passed on this for breakfast though. It was a nice and much welcomed addition on a cold winter morning. I enjoyed it.
As for my weekly update, I'm one pound lower than before: 247 pounds. Thats a total of 13 pounds lost since November 30, 2001. I have also lost some more inches. They are as follows:
Comparing start inches (November 30th) and now
BWH inches lost: 12
Breasts inches lost: 3
Waist inches lost: 5
Hips inches lost: 4
Comparing last week and now
BWH inches lost: 2.5
Breasts inches lost: 0.5
Waist inches lost: 1
Hips inches lost: 1
I thought I had blown it yesterday because I had a few more sweets than I think I should have at our family get-together, but seeing the results this AM, I feel much better. I'm still a bit discouraged that the weight isn't coming off faster, but as long as the inches keep decreasing, I'll be fine.
Hope you all have a super day and God bless.

How's it going? I pray everyone had a safe and happy new year's eve and day. Mine was nice. I relaxed, took it easy and just enjoyed the day. Basically, I was lazy. :D
No more pounds lost, but that's okay -- it'll happen when the time is right. And, as long as I can enjoy my cocoa, I'm content.
Do you guys like spaghetti squash? I do. Anywhoo -- I made this great dish for dinner, my family and I loved it...even my teenage son.
Spaghetti Squash
-Cut into two halves, lenghtwise...its not easy, so be careful.
-Remove seeds.
-Place cut side down on oiled/sprayed cookie sheet and bake for 45 minutes at 350.
-Remove, flip over and continue to bake till skin is tender...approx. 15-20 minutes longer.
-Seperate strands of squash by scraping with a fork...looks like spaghetti noodles.
Meatballs
1 pound ground beef
2 T. chopped and sauteed onion (in butter)
1 T. soy or worchestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon each: sage and paprika
salt and pepper to taste
4 oz. cheddar cheese, cut into 8 cubes
Combine all ingredients, except cheese. Separate into eight sections. Take each section and press a cube of cheese into it. Form into a meatball and repeat till you have 8 meatballs. Place each meatball into an oiled square baking pan/dish. Bake in the oven at 350 for 25-30 minutes.
The Dish
Place a serving of the squash on plate. Top with 2-3 meatballs. Cover with 1/4 - 1/2 cup of LC/LS Pasta sauce, heated through. Sprinkle with Parmesaen Cheese and enjoy. Serve with a large salad...your choice. Makes 3-4 Servings.

Have a super day!! God bless.

Hi everyone -- it snowed and we're expecting more. Isn't it great!! Looks like about 5-6 inches already. YEAH!!
One of the good things about snow...you're so tempted to go out and play that you don't eat quite as much -- you do consume great quantities of cocoa when its over, though. :D

Hi to all. I've been in bed the last day and a half...UGH!! I got my first migraine for the New Year. I'm not complaining, though -- its been over a month since I had my last one, that's a record.
I feel much better today. I did manage not to mess up on my diet while recovering, so that's a plus.
I've been weighing myself daily, then taking a weekly average as my base weight. That way I have a better idea of what's happening. According to that, I've lost another 0.8 pounds. When I weighed myself yesterday morning, the scales read 249, however, this morning they read 245 -- I'm happy. We'll see what it works out to this coming Sunday.

Hi everyone,
I'm doing okay on my diet, possibly even 1.5 pounds lighter -- won't confirm till end of the week. My migraine has even taken a hike, so that's good.
I got some sad news last night. My best-friend in the whole world -- as close as my sisters -- called to inform me that her father passed away Friday night in his sleep. She found him in bed Sunday morning. Her mother just passed away less than six months ago, so this is twice as hard. They were like a second set of parents to me and I'll miss them dearly. I missed seeing her mother prior to her death, but I was able to get to Florida for Thanksgiving so I got to visit with her dad one last time. He looked so good, so it was a shock. Its times like this that I wish I wasn't so far away. I know she knows I'm with her even from this distance, yet it hurts -- and it scares me to think of my own mom and dad. Praise the Lord they are in very good health.
I hope you don't mind me boo-hooing on your shoulders. It helps a lot. God bless you all and have a happy day.
:rose: :rheart: :rose: :rheart:
P.S. Carrie -- I left you a note under your journal. You're in my prayers. And, please, don't think you have to leave us because you may have faltered back to 250+ -- you're still counting down to 235 -- no matter what. God bless.

Hi CarrieAnn and thank you. It is very difficult indeed to lose a loved one. I spoke with my friend, Susan, last night. We had a wonderful boo-hoo and memory session. It helped us both tremendously -- we were even laughing at some points. :D
She told me that one of the last things her mother told her before she passed on was:
"This to shall pass, and life goes on -- yet, your memories and the love you share(d) will always remain." - JoAnne Price
I will always remember that.
I pray your sister is doing better. Please let me know, thank you and God bless.
As for me and my attempt at reaching 235?! Well, it may take me a little while, but I plan on reaching that goal ASAP -- by June if not before. I weighed in at 246 this AM -- still less than 247, yet not 245 like yesterday. But, the averaging isn't over yet, so I'll hold on till Sunday to reveal the results. Happy LCing to you all.
God bless and have a super day!!

Thanks for all your support mom, especially through this week. I've needed it. Don't fret. I'm not letting my sadness get me down or mess me up. Dad Price is in a better place, he's happier and in no pain, so that is a great comfort.
I weighed back to 247 this AM, but I'm not worried. By the time I average things out at the end of the week, I may have lost another pound.
Got errands to run, so I'll check back in later.
Have a glorious and happy day everyone.
Just for you, Mom --
Happy Birthday!!

Hi everyone,
What's up?
I'm doing pretty good. Hanging in there. I thought I had messed up, but according to this AMs average. I have lost 1.1 pounds. :D I'll wait till next week's average to post though, since I'm averaging every 2 weeks. I'm feeling good. I've been tweaking a few things here and there, so we'll see what happens. I pray you are all doing great. Have a happy weekend of LCing. Talk with you later. God bless.

Hi to all --
I pray everyone is doing well -- in general and on your LCing adventure.
I'm still reading 246 on the scales this AM, so that's nice. I pray it goes down even more by the end of the week. What a wonderful end to the week that would be. :D
CarrieAnn -- how is your sister and her baby doing -- much better, I pray??
Not much else to report, just taking things day by day. Talk with you all later. Take care and God bless.

Hi everyone --
How are you all doing? Having great success I pray. Here's what's happening with me:
When I stepped on the scales this AM, I was down to 244 today would be a wonderful day to take that weight and run with it rather than wait for the end of the week average, yet I know that wouldn't be accurate, so I'll just be happy about it for today and go from there.
Some happy news though -- just out of curiosity, last night I tried on some dresses I've had hanging in my closet -- dresses that didn't fit me anymore. Well, they fit. One fit perfectly, one it perfectly enough, and one fit good even though it was a little snug in the bust area.
I still have two other dresses I didn't try yet. My son thought I was crazy. Here it was 11 PM at night -- he comes back to my room to say goodnight -- and I'm standing there in a dress like I'm ready to go out or something. He was like, "I'm not even going to ask, love ya, good night...oh, and mom, you're strange."
Happy LCing, everyone!! Have a super day and God bless.

Looking good on the weight losses. Just keep on going . Before you know it , the year will be gone and we'll be almost gone . At least part of our bodies. That will be great to start the new year with a new body. Wawtigress

Hi everybody --
What's everyone been up to??
:D Good news: This AM, the scales read 243 -- that's the first time I've seen those numbers in forever -- I'm so happy. Now, if it'll only stay that way. I won't know how it affects my average till tomorrow. We'll see -- good news, I pray.
:tears: Sad news: Wednesday evening we got the call we knew was coming -- Mark's (my hubby) grandmother passed away. She lived a long and happy life, and we know she's in a better place. We will miss her very much. Tomorrow is her funeral -- that will be rough, yet it will be nice to see family we haven't seen in quite awhile. I'm just sorry that it took grandmom's death to bring us together. I guess that's the way things go sometimes...its sad.
That's about it for now. I pray you all have a great weekend. Take care and God bless.

Hi everyone -- I was gone over the weekend to attend my husband's grandmother's funeral. The ceremony was beautiful and we got to see a lot of the family we hadn't seen in a long time. The day was long though. We left the house at 9AM Saturday morning and didn't get back home till 11PM that night. I was exhausted. Yesterday, was a laid back and catch up day.
I averaged out another pound lower this week, going from 246 to 245. We'll see what next week holds. I'm really happy with the drop.
In the measurement department, I went from:
Last Week
B: 51 inches
W: 43 inches
H: 50 inches
This Week
B: 50.5 inches
W: 43 inches
H: 49.5 inches
For a loss/gain of -
B: minus .5 inch
W: no change
H: minus .5 inch
Since 11/30 (54/48/53)
B: minus 3.5 inches
W: minus 5 inches
H: minus 3.5 inches
Like I mentioned above, my average weekly weight for week-5 is 245 pounds. That's down another pound - HURRAH!!
:hyper:
I'm happy and content with the results.
That's about it -- check back with ya later. Have a great LCing day. Take care and God bless.

Hi all,
it is good to see that everyone is doing well. WTG
I'm back from vacation. I confess...I gave up trying while on vacation. I had all these people to see and everyone wanted to go out to eat. Food is so social in our culture. I lasted 3 days and then :(
Now I'm back and had a wonderful vacation--now I just have to get my regular life back on schedule. And a big part of that is getting back to this WOE.
Keep up the good work!

Copy and pasted from my journal post...
Hello everyone --
First, thank you SAKaye for checking in, saying hello, and asking about me and my progress. I really appreciate it. I pray you are doing well.
Now -- since I switched to CAD/CALP, it seems as if only a very few number of people want to reply/post with me, so I decided I'd stick mainly to communicating with my mom via our own chat and e-mail. However, there are a few of you, thank you very much for being and remaining supportive, who have asked for me to continue posting, so here I am. I won't be posting daily however, as my home schedule is very time consuming these days. I will try to get an update in and reply to any post made to me on a once a week basis.
The past couple weeks have been great. I'm still going good on CAD/CALP without any major set backs. Its been pretty hectic around my house, running here and there and everywhere, making it difficult at times to eat as well as I should. I've been managing and through my efforts, I have dropped another 3 pounds and 1.5 inches. I'm down to 242 pounds from 245 pounds. That makes for a total of 18 pounds lost since November 30th. I'm definitely happy about the results and am striving to do better.
I pray that you are all doing well with your LCing WOE and pray that you continue to have great success.
I'll check in again soon. Take care and God bless.

I pray I haven't offended anyone. I just thought I should share my feelings. When you are dieting, support from others, especially those who know what you are going through, is very important to an individual. I feel like the minute I switched over from Atkins to CAD/CALP, the support stopped. Maybe not intentionally, but stopped nontheless. When that support stops or seems to slack off, as it did, it is very discouraging. I am grateful that I have a wonderful home support or I would have really felt left out in the cold.
I pray all the best to everyone, no matter what program you are following. Its dropping the pounds and creating a happier/healthier you that really matters, not the avenue you take to get there.
God bless everyone...I'll be posting weekly in my journal (SAMTigress' LCing Journey) if you wish to reply or check in. Thank you.

Remember the good meal your allowed each day and still lose weight. Seeing 241 on the scales this am for you is great. Just got to get over the hurdles. One pound a week is better than nothing or standing still and not going anywhere. Or regaining . You're doing great , Keep up the good work. Wawtigress
