I found a before picture that my hubby had taken of me that I thought I had deleted. The first one is what prompted me to go on Atkin's back in April of this year. The second picture was taken just yesterday for a comparison and 35 pounds lighter.

I was feeling fat yesterday  so my adorable hubby took a picture so I could see the difference.

Yesterday I was down in the dumps, and feeling like I wasn't going to lose anymore weight and feeling a bit fat. My husband in an attempt to cheer me up took the picture to "prove" that I was losing and looking a lot better.

I don't know what I would do without him ;)

You look GREAT!! You are already such a success and getting so close to your goal too! Congratulations on having what it takes to do this for yourself! I know from past experience (I maintained at 143 for five years in the past) that it takes a bit of time for our heads to catch up to our bodies. Photos of ourselves surely help!

I look forward to following your future success!

What a great hubby you have Agonycat. He knew you needed to see the proof. :D

Aww thanks!

It has been a long road, but the journey so far has been worth it. I am feeling better about myself, I am now on an exercise routine where as before I didn't have the energy to walk to the mailbox most days.

I still have a ways to go and will post a new set of photos when I reach goal.

It does take time for the weight to come off. Don't be impatient for it to do so. After all, it was my fault in the first place for being complacent about gaining a pound here or there and not taking it back off pronto.

You look wonderful! I keep "fat girl" pictures of myself handy at all times. Whenever I feel impatient with my weight loss I take a look at those pictures. I remember where I was 13 months ago and how miserable I felt. It only takes a minute to snap me out of my funk!

Keep up the great work!

Thanks ;)

I am still hanging in there. The weight loss has slowed way down the closer I get to my goal weight.

I really don't mind. Sometimes I get a bit impatient but I remind myself that it did take me 10 years to gain 60 pounds, at least I should be patient enough to take it off.

I do feel so much better, lots more energy, no out of breath feeling when flying or running through the airports to catch flights. It is amazing how we let ourselves go, only to wake up one morning and go "omg how did that happen!". *laf*

Congrats to all of you that are doing what it takes to take care of yourself. Eating healthier, losing the weight, being happier in life.

Wow..... You are a real inspiration - You look fantastic. I remember once on Oprah she was joking and said that why do people with weight issue wear elasticated clothes - is it because they want to grow into them and it's true. I was very similar to your first picture - long tops to give the illusion that you were hiding the fat and lose fitting bottoms. Now look at you in jeans and a tucked in top - you look brilliant.

Can I ask how long it took you. I am on the Atkins diet 7 weeks and I do feel great but my weight loss has slowed and I'm wondering if I should do the induction again just to speed things up. Any suggestions from someone who has obviously cracked this diet.......

Man-o-man! Your husband knew what he was doing! Great picture and great inspiration to all of us fatties who haven't yet reached the point that we even want to think about taking an "after" picture. I've lost 37 pounds, on my way to 118 (goal total) and it's still not too noticable. You inspire me to hang in there! Sometimes it seems a bit ridiculous that I've allowed myself to get so overweight, that 37 pounds doesn't show! Do you realize that 37 pounds of disgusting fat is the same as 148 1/4 pound cubes of butter?!!! Imagine that sitting up against the wall!! That's how I manage to inspire myself at this point. Seeing you looking so fantastic gives me that extra umph I need to keep going. THANKS!

Cali
Tue, Feb-26-02, 23:28
Well Done Agony Cat, no more agony, you are almost there!

What is it about photos that makes us see ourselves for what we really are and not what we kid ourselves about?

I know that I am able to look in the mirror, arrange my expression, pull in my stomach lift my chin and turn sideways and think I'm quite slim, but when I see a photo, it's as if I'm looking at a stranger! Who is that plump woman with the double chin and the rolls of fat? Oh my God!!!

I find these before photos incredibly depressing and wonder if there'll ever be an after.

marcus
Thu, Feb-28-02, 03:15
pictures you take are deceiving. When you see yourself you compare it to what you have in your mind but the real you is somewhere in between. Sometimes pictures look a lot better or a lot worse which is why some ppl love certain pictures of themselves and hate the others but both were taken the same minute. Why? its a mind game we play with ourselves, I guess. Your personality as well as your outer-self makes up who you are. Once someone knows you, they can't separate the two. Once you feel great, you will look great, inside and out, regardless of any extra weight. Individually, we all have to find what weight that is and exactly how meaningful it is personally. Good luck and hang in there and remember most ppl love you for whom you are not what you are simply on the exterior.
I see such good ppl here I think sometimes you all forget how good you really are deep down. No, that doesnt help the fact that most are here to lose weight, but dont lose perspective that it doesnt change the quality of a person you really are.

ok ill hush

Well, I lost another pound and just changed my profile from 122 to 121 :cheer:

I only have 11 more to go until my bikini and my VACATION TO ST.LUCIA :exclm:

I want to go run on my treadmill until the whole 11 pounds are gone but I guess I would probably fall over and die, so I guess I'll just take it one day at a time.

I'm really getting anxious now to see my new profile so I'll talk to everyone later. I have to go and post this on a few of my other subscribed threads, hopefully to encourage or to motivate someone if they need it ;) Good Luck to all and guess what...

So what if you have a bad day with eating wrong or not exercising, I have had a few last week but I still LOST a pound. Just start fresh the next day, trust me when I say that when you don't beat yourself up it makes it easier to make it up

I believe in EVERYONE here, and I know with all of the support going on here WE CAN DO IT :D

donnaj--I too am walking 2 miles a day, that's about a 50 min workout for me or maybe less depending on how long I run.

Once I stepped up my workouts, the weight started coming off again.

I thank you for your kind words and I can't wait to put my picture up too :wiggle: I'm just trying to stretch the wait out until my 110 gets here, but if it takes to long then I'll put up the 133 picture and then the new and improved 115 picture :exclm: Just 6 more pounds.

Well I'm off to make a LC list of foods for the grocery store, were running low on meats and cheeses, and my gorgeous hunny is starving. He is also on the LC diet with me and is doing great, he's already lost 10 pounds

Well keep up the good work and I'll keep checking in for support and if anyone needs to talk

I just wanted to update this today as a milestone moment.

Today I hit 150.

I haven't been at 150 in YEARS. This is huge to me. It means that in the coming weeks I will actually see 149.

For all of you out there that are frustrated...let me say don't give up or in. I started April 2001, and this is my 11th month on the plan. 11 months, 46 pounds down. Took me 10 years to put 60 on and only 11 months to take 80 percent of it off!

I was one of those that lost 30 pounds right off the bat then boom....brick wall. When I hit the 165 mark its taken 8 months to get that scale to moving again.

Do not give up...it works. It may be slower than we want.....but it does work if we hold on.

Thanks for the cheers :)

Canada, I went by the book for the first 13 months of being on Atkin's. No cheating. I stalled out a bit and tried to adjust but it just made it worse.

So I added exercise in. That is what really started changing my shape. I am down to 145 at this point and working out 3 to 4 times a week, depending on how much time I have.

I also am now a certified personal trainer. You learn a lot of stuff while you are getting yourself in shape ;) I am also contracting for the next 6 months which is why I have cut down my exercise program.

Just be patient with yourself. So far I am almost 2 years into the diet and down close to 55 pounds and it took me 10 years to gain 60 pounds. :)

The shocker picture (http://betterbodyconditioning.com/images/real.jpg)

That one goes to show it does work if YOU work at it ;)
