Hi, I was wondering how everyone was getting through all of the christmas parties !!! WOW I just went to one last night and ate FUDGE, A big NO-NO !!! I felt so guilty being that I have only been on the atkins diet for 2 and a half weeks. I ate a slice of ham and a table spoon of mashed potatoes and half of cup of green beans. Can you believe I didn't have a dinner roll. I just didn't feel the need for it. I did gain a pound the next morning and I wished now that I didn't do it. Now will it take some time to get all of the sugar out of my system? I did work out a lot today. If a person stays under 20 carbs everyday on this atkins diet, will it hurt them? I have 30 lbs to lose and want to lose more quickly than i am. I can tell the inches coming off , but the scale doesn't move very quickly. My first two weeks I lost 9.5 lbs. Now its been a week and i only lost 1 lb. Has this happened to many people? I did eat some smoked sausage last week that had 3 carbs in 2 ounces of it. I had about 4 ounces a couple of days. Is that to many carbs for one meal? I normally eat a chicken salad for lunch and a cheese burger and a salad for dinner. I drink plenty of water , so I don't know why I am not loosing much?

Hi Denise,
Luckily my work party had jumbo shrimp, :yum:, so staying on track wasn't much of an issue. There was plenty of off-diet food there, but I made this commitment to myself, and I know this time I need to keep it. I've found self-awareness to be a great tool. Really think about why you ate the fudge. Were you feeling left out because you couldn't eat the things that everyone else is eating? Is it simply a favorite food? Knowing the reason behind your mistakes is a big part of avoiding them in the future. (This is coming from a person who has made nearly every mistake in the book.) You really don't have much weight to lose, so that's probably why your progress is a bit slower than you may like. But progress is progress, and it sounds as though you are doing very well. By the pic in your gallery, I wouldn't have thought you were 165 lbs., let alone 188. Good luck with everything, and if you stick to it, results will come.

thanks Blondie, the main reason I ate the fudge was because I love fudge, and I haven't had any since last x-mas. I am back on track today and feel so much better. I can not believe how much better I feel being back on the atkins diet. I felt so tired all day, after eating the fudge. How do you feel on this diet? Do you ever think about eating sugar or bread? If you do , how do you get over it? How much exersize do you get also? Its been so cold here in Indiana , that i don;t want to leave the house. I do work out in the evening about 4 days a week. I use weights and I jog in place, and also do sit ups. Plus I walk up and down the stairs at home for about 15 minutes non stop. Please stay in touch , I would like to see your progress. Please write me anytime. :)

I feel wonderful doing this WOE. And hey, fudge is good! At this point, I'm not really tempted to eat things that aren't on the diet. I'm considering taking 2 meals off for the holiday, but now I'm kind of deciding against it. I'm really enjoying what I eat right now. I don't go out for exercise outside either. Pittsburgh is cold! I have an elliptical machine, an aerobic step, a jump rope and free weights. My free weights are 5, 10, and 20 lbs. You can take a look at my gym log to see specifics, but I generally try to get in at least 20 minutes of cardio 3 days a week and I hit each muscle group at least once a week. I would suggest starting a journal. You can do this by going to the journals/bootcamp thread. I record my progress (and regressions  ) there pretty much every day. It's great to record your behavior and then be able to look back on it. It always helps to have people to support you. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress, too, and we can definitely stay in touch. Take care!

There are somethings in the office that I would kill for but I know myself! If I started eating before Christmas, I'd eat through Christmas and until New Years! I'm better off thinking about the doughnuts, candies, etc. as a guaranteed gateway drug!

All I can think about with that statement is some seedy-looking guy opening his trenchcoat to display a lining filled with all types Little Debbie's, Snicker's, Krispy Kremes, etc. Thanks for the image, I needed that!

hello Blondie, how are you doing? I noticed we started about the same time, and lost about the same weight. Today I finally lost 2 lbs, YAHOO. The scale hasn't moved in over 8 days. I was wondering if I was eating to much. I was checking your progress and seen that you weighed 245 at first, and I wanted you to know that I also weighed that about 10 years ago. Right after i had my first baby I was at my largest, so back then I was doing the low fat diet and working out a lot. It worked back then for me, but now with me being older it doesn't seem to work well. I just wanted you to know that it is possible to lose weight and it comes off pretty quickly. Well it should for you especially being as young as you are. I went from 245 lbs to 150 in about 7 months. I have never been that small, since the 6 th grade, so I didn't know what to expect, I was a changed person, I had so much energy, I felt like a teenager again. :) I did things in my life I would never attempt to do before I was heavy. I know this has nothing to do with the atkins diet, but I thought you would like to know that its possible to get down to your ideal weight if you have really want to. You are asking me why am I back to try to lose again??? Well my mom passed away when I was 23 years old and I turned to food for comfort. I got up to 200 lbs after about 5 years and have been up and down with my weight over the past 5 years. Now I am really ready to get down to at least 165. I know I wont be skinny but at least I will be pleased to get down into a size 12 , and to maintain that weight. When I was a size 10, it was so hard to keep it off, I couldnt eat anything and went hungry a lot. So hang in there and you will drop weight quicker than you think. Why don't you post a picture of yourself on here and start taking your picture like a couple of weeks later , post a new picture, you wont believe the difference you will see. Plus it fun checking out other peoples pictures, especially the ones who have lost so much. Well I hope you have a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.

I follow the Nancy Reagan school when it comes to the TONS of sugar-junk that's at my workplace every day: JUST SAY NO!
Seriously. And then I've told everyone around me at work that I don't eat sugar. Period. So now I'm accountable to that and loads of people are just watching and waiting for me to "crack". I refuse to give in. Pride, I imagine...
