Fat Burners what do they do for you?

Do fat burners burn calories or do they simply give you more energy to work out harder?

I think it's a lot of hype, myself. Maybe a placebo effect? I tried them once...I didn't notice a whole lot of difference. Maybe someone else had different results.

It's the energy, they give you an energy burst because they have stimulnts in them. The ones that really worked contained ephedra but now thats banned in Canada and maybe in the U.S. because some people abused it and ended up dead. Spoiled it for everyone else, because they really were very effective. They also helped burn a few calories all by themselves because they speeded up the metabolism.

Now the ones that are available contain a lot of caffeine and other natural stimulants - but I haven't really tried them because I have a bad reaction to caffeine.

The are thermogenics, stimulants that raise body temp, and increase energy.(kill appetite too) On their own they dont do much good, but in conjunction with diet and excersize you will see increased fat loss. Some studies suggets that they also spare lean mass. You can get ephedrine in Bronkaid at any drug store or Vasopro at discountanabolics.com

Thanks and KoKO you can still get ephedrine. It is sold in 8mg doses now. It was banned for a little wile but now you can get it again, I agree that it is still for me #1

Wow that's good to know. Thanks Atmasters, do you get it at the gym or just any old place that sells supplements. I used to get straight ephedra/ephadrine at the gym I can't remember which one it was though. When I found out it was going to be banned I ordered a lot online from the U.S. but now am not sure if it would come across the border ok or not.

I believe you get the best metabolism boost from the EC stack, not just ephedrine alone. A "standard" (don't start here but work your way up to assess tolerance, I don't know if it needs to be adjusted for weight) dose of 20 mg E and 200 mg C taken 3 times a day should boost metabolism by around 10%.

Actually, it wasn't just that people were abusing the ephedrine in diet pills but it was also being used to make fake ecstacy. I imagine that ecstacy and alcohol shouldn't be mixed anyway, but given that ravers were then mixing ephedrine and alcohol they began to have some problems.
