I finally finished off my big bottle of generic mulitivitamin and I'm looking for a better supplement. When I looked up the ingredients on my former vit most of them were in the least absorbable form. Are the vitamins marketed to lowcarbers the better choice?
I'm female, 43, hypoglycemic, hypothyroid and have a heart murmur. I take:
gtf chromium, potassium, calcium/magnesium/zinc
my dr also suggested I get big doses of B vitamins for hypothyroidism and take fish oil or omega something any recommendations there?

I just take a multivitamin w/o iron. I think we (excuse me) pee most of it out anyway. Don't spend yourself broke, go for the natural foods if you can and just take a multi vitamin., imho, just a thought.

I take a boatload of supplements.
I suggest whatever you use you get them from swansonvitamins.com. They have just about the cheapest prices I've found and of great quality. There is also a link there that leads to a weekly update in studies on vitamin/supplement therapy.
The multivitamin I get from them is high potency multi vitamin with minerals.
CoQ10 is great for the heart. Cinnamon and CTF chromium are good for control of blood sugar levels.
Swansons has an omega 3 oil that combines fish, borage, and flax seed oils. They also have the most readily absorbable forms of calcium, I get the liquid calcium and magnesium combination. They have many forms of chelated supplements. They have everything you need want or desire.

Upback I know what you mean. I have 4 drawers of supplements I've bought and then decided they didn't do anything. I was wondering why without iron though? When I put my food in fitday I am usually at about 50% iron.
Thanks Zule, also you reminded me the doctor did say take high potency vitamins. I will check out the swanson place.

Most low-carb eaters are eating a diet with red-meat as a major component. For example, my iron is 147.09% of the USRDA. If anything, I need to go out and donate blood soon to get the iron content of my body normalized.
If you have any choline in those four drawers, I'm game. Stuff supercharges that brain.

I suggest "mega" multivitamins (not the One-a-day, Synergy, etc) without iron. they have some now especially for women.
the leader is probably GNC

I use to think that GNC was wasy over priced, but a friend said they were not. I also like vitacost

Swanson's women vitamins are:

I would also recommend the Omega 3s and chromium.

Thanks Hybrid I tend to only eat 1/4 lb of beef twice a week. Not my favorite food but I could handle a daily cheeseburger.
I actually took all the phosphatidyl choline during a stressful period!
Thanks for the suggestions kebaldwin, much appreciated.
browniz I know what you mean about the Bs! I was addicted to emergen C but I quit when I started atkins since it has 5g of fructose. :( But I can be happy with nonfruity tasting Bs too.
