~180# Adult in a Wheel chair pushing all day contest of patience was my only exercise today due to medical appts all day with Grandpa. On the brighter side I found the weight set I'm gonna use & now I'm on the hunt for a bench. I'm gonna finish up studying the book and set my practice program into play to find out what else I need If anything. Especially to figure how I'm gonna make it to the Gym X amount per wk and what I can do from home!
Cardio tomorrow...Lets Rock!

Good energy but started a little late...8 min Tae Bo on Empty Stomach then stretched then brushing ...really wanted to scoot out the door for a 2 miler but not enough time. Shootin for AB's by EOW!! I'm scared o those!
Lookin' for the bench that fits and I'm off to learning about liftin' better put the weight stand together first!

30 min Stretching only today and another day at the hospital. Foot is real sore...how? dunno! Keepin ice on it and hope to wrap it if needed for tomorrow...
Need to find the bench and try out the basics for lifting...note to self...Just go for it!

30 + Tae Bo Regular and tried 8 min abs for the 1st time....need to not strain my neck though had headache symptoms that are still reverberating in my temples...will try to isolate and not lift head/neck at all. ( old injury C2-C3 fused vertabrae easily disturbed)
Started off with Glutamine powder, potassium, and water only prior to exercise on empty stomach...thanks Nat! Waited a little too long after to eat but trying for 2 small BF.
Need to think on tomorrows plan...should I test the foot or wait a while?
JUST KEEP MOVING!

Not to be left out despite lack-o-time this am I ...
Did 8 min Buns and there still back there I think! Was going to follow with legs but my mine were too shaky...Wow what a burn...we'll keep it going and see if were making the most of those 8 min.
I'm set for abs again tomorrow and the plan is to slow in until it all gels! Wt stand assembley this eve and hope to pick up bench tomorrow.

WOW what a morning...
Ran to the pool only to find them closed!! Not to be sidetracked I backtracked to the GYM and started with
20 min Cardio 3 cycles, wow it was really hard...not a 10 on the 3rd cycle but def a 9 I was pushing with everything I didn't have.
45 water aerobics...not really tought enough but after the cardio I was baked!
Good workout no blush needed for the rest of the day!
Good and tired and sore...but a good sore.

Thanks for the Hi's Ladies! I've been moving but not recording lately....
Did a new circuit training DVD today...good one! Hopping isn't on my list yet though and untill I get a super binding bra...ouch. Also my first wt session...part of same DVD. Good and shakey after ...waited an hour+ before refueling with some steak and eggs and salad. Got some new yoga sessions as well but the CT was a 6 round deal so I was sufficiently wiped....brushed and showered and off to the last minute holiday stuff...let the insanity slow down....soon.

the name of the belly dancing tape was .....belly dancing for beginners and she got it off ebay she said...i know it sure was fun and my abs were sore the next day...i love doing video's in the winter time
have you went to BFL and looked at the video's online??that really helped me with my weight training...i was doing mine to fast....i had to slow down and watch my form :rolleyes:
wow this has been a hectic christmas...my 18yr old step son came to live with us now the 13 yr old came to stay with us till may....his mom is working in france till then...but the boys are so good......i love them like my own :D

Yikes!! Is it really the 27th already! Had a little vacation there and then stopped moving altogether when the equipment had to be moved for the new TV.... My VCR is still not hooked up so I stocked up on the rest of my indoor supplies and Taebo on DVD...forget that broken down VCR player I get dressed and geared and half the time it doesn't want to play!! This is serious I don't have time for equipment that doesn't co-operate...I think its coming together but man do I need to get my rear in gear on the work out plan for BFL...Going to check out the video clips and planning on either a swim or Taebo tonight...AM starts again tomorrow... I will be ready! Ok kids time to go home...gramma needs to workout!

Pilates is a lot harder than it looks...ouch! Form is everything...45 min tape somethings were just too hard though and I need a better mat...it's on the list...Tae bo and a trial UBWO tomorrow!
Got a personal trainer lined up and hope it works out!
Got the flax and whey and the right yogurt and even found the Cod liver oil....this could be dangerous!

Missed my am call...new alarm...pushed the wrong button and shut even my back up off!! Why was I so beat...cause I was up too late reading journals and trying to say hay to all these GREAT LC people...so many new peoples...so many veteran peoples...so little time!
Saturday is my first Trainer appt...I can't exercise know...cause the repairman is here...and who knows when he'll be done....I think I'll just entertain the kids with grammas new tae bo anyway...See if he can sit still for it! He'll probably be cracking his little baby self up!

Pilates...empty stomach..as always now...audio ran out about 3/4 of the way through a really good workout and I realized i cannot read lips! Made the best of it and returned the DVD, they didn't have another right now...I'll try back later.
Trainer appt today also...got some good tips and directions for afew exercises I hadn't thought of...legs were definately shaking so they hit some sleepy muscles...Not the workout plan I was looking for though as she was giving me an all over to do everyday...no dear, I already explained I am doing a set plan, UB and LB sep days, cardio 3 days, blah, blah....I didn't need the nutrition speal either (you should aim for 3 fruits a day...low fat...no, no, no thanks...) cause I already know what I'm gonna eat! Thats good cause its 200.00 for a menu plan! Just because someone says they are "familiar" with BFL doesn't mean they know squat about it! She says $65.00 lighter and with more determination than EVER to make it work...I will use the trainers at my gym to check my form...I have at least 2 sessions I haven' t used. Form check and a starting plan was all I really wanted. I could have just plunged in....but I still felt a little clueless...Hey now, we all gotta start somewhere! So tomorrow is my 1st full bore planning day...shopping, cooking, planning the workout and picking up the bench and ball...and more fresh berries...It will happen!

Beth, if you'd like a good online resource for exercise and how to do them, check out this place (http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html) . I use it every few weeks when I have to change my routine - you can hit on a muscle group (http://www.exrx.net/Lists/MFemale.html) and it takes you to a list of all the various exercises that will target that one and it breaks it down by method - barbells, dumbbells, machines, etc. There are little demonstrations of how every exercise should be performed and some hint and tips on form and how to dismount/mount.

Day off for planning...so far so good except still can't find a bench I'm happy with...either too big, not sturdy enough...doesn't fold etc...will be able to improvise for the first few weeks though...
Thank you NAT!! You always seem to have just the answer! So far everything else is in order...heading to the show for HB's last evening out (vaca over soon)

FIRST DAY ON BFL!
UBWO 60 min...shouldn't take that long but I'll get the hang of switching wts soon!
Chest- Dumbell Chest Press, DB Flyes
Shoulders- Seated Overhead DB Press
Back- Ball lift..Floor exercise, for weak backs
One arm Dumbell Rows
Triceps- One arm Tri-cep Kick Back
Biceps-Seated Bicep Curl
Standing Bicep Curl
I got to a 10 on one exercise..the others were 9's and a 7 on my first one...some more research and a bench for fridays lift would def help! Brushed and showered..a bit shaky and in need of the protein shake 1 hr later! This is HARD...but I know anything that gives the kind of result BFL shows has to be...I know it will be worth it! 2 lts water so far and new potassium supps should help.

Beth, try and get that protein in within 45 minutes of your workout - if you wait to long you run the risk of your body breaking down other muscles for protein to feed the ones you just worked to failure. Don't worry about hitting those 10s, it takes some practice to figure out just what you're doing - it actually gets easier once you've done the routine once or twice and know which muscles you should be working (once they've been sore for a few days you know where they are ;))

1/9***Hey thanks Nat I saw another post about that and have to remind myself 1 hr after MAS and w/in 45 min after wts...I'm hoping it will stick soon.
Last night I thought the whole universe was against me! I was looking forward to getting my 1st LBWO in and came home to a housefull in the way...so I started to pack for the gym...hungy and tired and couldn't find my planned work out sheet...or my books I looked everywhere 3x! Sat down and wanted to give up! I looked down and saw my stopwatch or rather just the cord it hangs from...the watch had fallen off somewhere! ARGH! So I took a deep breath...several in fact and printed another WO sheet, filled it out and as I was leaning over to shut the printer off I saw my book bag I saw peeking out from under the desk....I was so relieved! Get to the gym and its A's to A's lines for some machines...no wonder I like the early am...I waited and planned my course and lifted much more than I thought I could!

shocked myself...on the max wt for legs...175...I am feeling it still and as the day wore on yesterday...more and more...this must be the good sore I hear so much about!

1/10 cardio on empty stomach...used Tae Bo in rounds...25 min..legs too sore for jump rope plan for now!

1/12 20 MAS on empty stomach...me and a certain recline bike had a date for danger! Hit my number much better on the the bike rather than my walk.run with out the burning lung syndrome...followed by a headache which signals I just went to darn far with that one! Brushing and HOT shower came later after morning visitors left...boy did I chill down.
1/13 DAY OFF...no exercise today except vicious walking everywhere!
1/14 UBWO am empty stomach....pushing that tho...as I can't get to GYM till 9 may grab some almonds to push me through...then HOT TUB and sauna, brushing, shower and home for THE shake...working on the office today trying to make room for a bench or that cool CAGE I saw at play it again sports with the cables and everything...all depends on the room involved...not putting it in the garage too cold out there in the am...bad enough in the office!

UBWO went very well...used all machines this time...improvements were good...real push too...added inner thigh adductors and afew sets at the butt blaster...was already pooped tho so headed for the door...shakey and wiped...got that shake in right away it was much need and heading for #2 now

20 MAS on empty stomach...recline bike at the gym...lucky me they open at 5 am!!
Abs on ab roller 2 sets of 12 reps...easin in to it! Will save ab boot camp for later in the challenge.
Rushed home, brushed, showered and had the most energy!
I didn't think I was gonna get to 10 today...hurting from LBWO pretty good but Wynonna gave me a hand and we just kept kicken' it up a few notches at a time...boy it felt great. My warm up speed was my high intensitiy previously, your body really responds quickly. I am up to level 7-9 for my high end and should far exceed those numbers in just a few weeks. I reached so deep that I had a hard time lifting my legs over the bike for a very graceful dismount , shakey, who me? OH YEA!
I have a little hard card that I have written the minutes and intensity level on that I use to keep myself on track...I think I'm gonna laminate and put it on a rope it really helps my focus....
My hamstrings and adductors are talking to me and pleading for some good stretches so I'm gonna oblige them...

**Last post should have read LBWO!! too late to alter...aww but I can assure you it was LB I'm still walking a bit funny...
UBWO Took a while longer to get the machines set but did the whole routine in 75 minutes...had to ditch 2 machines due to various problems...much better and learned a great trick for those who don't have a bench...used a step bench and added and substracted for incline...worked great and didn't have to head to the CAGE area yet....found a trainer who has done BFL!! oh yea! He was great...just talking to him that is...will set an appt for next week or so to check form!! And get some of his other killer ideas!
Got the shake in pretty fast as I needed it the HUNGER GROWS!!
Better go...baby will be up very soon!

Postponing am workout for eve due to very late SF evening celebrations. Have told family they must now celebrate only on the weekends...when I can sleep in! LOL! It was fun but I am off schedule and desperate to get back on...Had my shake already and should have squeezed the late night in too as my UBWO was much MUCH more effective this time...= sore, very good sore!
My new protein powder has arrived!! Variety will keep me on track!

DAY 12 Already! WOW! My face is still burning and I'm hoping its thermo activity and not that stinkin sinusitus trying to creep back in! Will pick up garlic and make a new batch of silver nitrate this pm. I'm not doin antibiotics again!
LBWO 40 minutes... a little to concerned with the clock to day...will start earlier next time, rushing is not an option!
My legs felt a little like uh uh...no way today but we finished out anyway and tomorrow will tell if I isolated correctly.
Don't have my sheet with me will record actual later...

I did real well this am...talking myself through my 20 min Cardio on the recline bike...My cd player decided not to cooperate so I did a visualization thing that I was riding in a race and all my friends and family were there cheering me on to the finish! It worked pretty well, it was a very good thing the bike was holding itself up though, or I'd of tipped for sure!
Saturday was my only bummer workout of my whole challenge so far...I was at the gym at 5:30 but failed to see that they wouldn't open till 7...ooops! Did some TaeBo at home but no where near the same thing...Still need to have enough time to add the abs too am working on adding them to my cardio end of work out instead of later that night...
I'm catching up on my water today...and hopefully the 2 lbs I'm up will float away...unless I've awakened sleeping muscles in which case...it can stay and send the fat away!
Boy did I miss my shakes this weekend! Challenge onward...week 3!

Standing feels more thorough but the blood blisters on my shoulders are annoying from the shoulder pad...I bruise easy.
Got the shake in 45 minutes which stopped the other "shake"
On to planning the next thing...

20 MAS CARDIO 10!!!! I really have to reach deep to feel I make a 10...that last round in a killer and my legs just want to quit!
But it feels great when you make it, when I make it...and it lasts for a long time.
Did some abs with the inflatable ball and on floor...watching out for the neck. Also did some stomach vacuums and deep breathing with stretches...Had some nausea towards the end of Abs, so I must of hit some of the right muscles...I think...tomorrow's soreness will tell.
I wanted to do some measurements and wt but as TOM is OTW I think I better hold back at least on the wt.
OK, gotta plan my workout!

UBWO 55 minutes
Did not go to gym..used powerblocks at home...need step bench or wt bench...for proper extension. Other than that it went pretty well...the wt difference was annoying though...I had broken down smaller increments and the 5 lb limit on powerblocks are a real pain when 8 works better than 10 and 12 is better than 15 for best form and extension.
Chaos ensued after workout with home and other job deadline so it was way more than 45 min...b4 I could get to the shake...sometimes life gets in the way...oh well catching up...
Tried eliptical for cardio test the other day and knee is too tweaky on it..have to bend to keep all in line...will wait till legs are stronger maybe then...for now will keep to bike or try the other machines available.

I found I had the same problem with the Power Blocks. Apparently there is a set that goes up in smaller increments, but it also has a bigger pricetag.
What if you had all of your shake stuff ready to go before the workout so that all you had to do was shake it?
Looks like you are doing GREAT! Bet it felt good getting that 10 on the cardio!!

Tried to go for my swim, but not enough signed for the class in the dead of winter...chickens! So no class till next session...undeterred I headed for the GYM to knock that cardio out....felt a little funny with the suit on thooo...Not my preference gear ya know, but I try to be flexable! Cardio 20 MAS...10 but not as good as the last one! TOM so maybe its an allover yuck thing! Did Abs anyway and some intense deep breathing....with those stomach vacuums....
Marlaine, I bet that was the PRO version! With the PRO price tag! I did see a battery powered blender at the gym on clearance and might grab it for my summer camping to keep up it was very light...
I guess I could preload the blender, I'm not sure how far in advance!...Unfortunatly we never get to plan those emergencies that creep up over here! I would have grabbed a premade but I realized JIT...that it was NOT LC!!!!
Tomorrow is day off...am going to actively get some generic house things done and make time for a walk...rain or not!

Day off....well sorta' Ya' Marlaine...I got a new beautiful chair for Christmas and I have hardly sat in it!! I just gotta keep moving...
Got some things done and some redone! More next week...missed my walk but kept moving all day....forgot I had some billing work to do and that kept me from leaving ....done early in the month so that is a great thing....they won't know what to do getting my work back so early! I think BFL is teaching me to get it together in alot of areas!

4:40 am wake-up call.....LBWO was a real good push...all machines were available as I needed them...real good! Got the shake in JIT!
Will be meeting with trainer this week to change exercises around...looking forward to that.

Wooooooeeeee! I was at the Gym at 5:00am... again still took me an hour to do my UBWO....Seems like my body is just going, going...even when I want it to just work out! Keep running to the LG room...am backing off of the psyllium caps as they are obviously overkill...The workout was great...I get near the end though and try to rush...slow down, this is for you and it's OK to take your time...then I rush when I get home to shower before the baby comes...it all works out as dear HB stands guard in case I'm not ready, when/if they come!
I am so ready to take measurements...Have to find all my pertinent calculation data to find my totals...recorded in different journals of course! I can really feel a difference though, even walking feels different...I think less of me is fighting for leg placement...you know....that...you go first, no you go first thing your legs do when you have the extra padding that prevents you from wearing corduroys...without starting a fire!!
I always joked that if my legs stopped rubbing together I'd have a PARTY :Party:
It's starting to feel like a possibility in my lifetime!...My side rolls are gone, my pajamas I have to hold on to to walk, My new skivies are starting to meet and make plans with my bra, My feet are sliding around in my new normal width shoes, my t-shirts are looking a little too much like an attempt at wearing a dress! I am actually able to see room on my car seat and not have to guess where the seat belt is, I can see it! Just little observations that keep coming up...I will definately need some more clothes, just wonder how long I can hold out! I am cold in my good polartech coat because there is so much room around me inside of it!
Just gotta keep remembering it's not an alien invasion, it's just me only less...or as Dani said the new leaner version!

Trainer day...new workouts...trial...LBWO 1 hour...added, changed, tweaked, all that...but naturally they are so NOT inclined toward...eliminating sugar..and LOW CARB...Why do they ask? You do what works for you and I shall so the same! Met 3 other ladies doing BFL at the gym...1 completed challenge last year and has kept it up...2 are in current challenge...It would be handy to tag team to hold the machines...ah well, going early pretty much insures no waiting too!

High Leg Press 40/12, 45/10, 50/8, 55/6, 50/12
Lying Curls 12/45
Seated Calf Raise 20/12, 30/10, 40/8, 50/6, 40/12...too much at 50! need 5-7.5 lb wt bar
Standing Raise 35/12...
Hip Abductors...30#....20 reps 2-3x
Good workout...burning is evident!
Tomorrow is Cardio...then the glorious day off! Still want to get Tae bo in this week...but when?

Well, I figured it was time to make a connection. :) I’ve been so impressed with your knowledge and support all over the forum. Yesterday I sat and read through your journal and I am so impressed. :thup: I have been watching Nat w/ the bfl and now that everyone else is doing it with such ease and excitement, I think I am ready to read the book and go from there.
What gym (trainer) did you go to? I am currently living in alameda. If I remember correctly, you are in San Leandro? We used to live there, in heron bay, but moved a year ago last week.
So, way to go on starting with the trainer and I loved how you covered the goodies from Costco w/ paper towels. :D

Here is one big CONGRATULATIONS heading your way! I think it is the best feeling when you start to notice different things like certain clothes fitting looser, etc, etc. You are doing GREAT! Keep it up Beth!

I had to giggle when I read this Beth. What is it about BFL that makes us feel like we can conquer the world of athletics?? I know I'm constantly thinking about when I can do some of my other favourite physical activities! Maybe I'll treat myself to a swim tomorrow on my day 'off'. I'm also missing my aquasize class so I might try to get that in next Wednesday after 20MAS. We are turning into SUPERwomen!

Hey, look what happens when I don't post in my gym log! A party showed up...hey everybody!
I have been faithfully working out but I don't always have my sheets to fill in the details! Baby's been sick too so not alot of PC time...wants to be held!
Did my cardio today and didn't hit my big 10...awww first time! My legs were just tooo darn sore from LBWO the day before..that and I haven't been getting enough sleep...so they said, sorry but no, we can't pedal at that intensity any longer!....just making the pedals go round was an effort and I was shaking when I got off..for a while so I know I pushed it pretty far...so I made my bod a promise as I'm expecting alot from it....I need to keep up my end and get the sleep it needs to recoop! It's a deal....and next time I'll be screaming ...."I MADE IT!!"

Came back from the snow with a horrid sinus/throat infection. No GYM yesterday or today...too sick. Not much food either but thats another story...Just resting and hoping to be back to full speed in a couple of day....my throat is burning such that even cardio is not a good idea so looks like I may lose a week and add it on at the end...
Hi to all and will try to be back soon...am taking my meds like a good girl...even though I hate taking antibiotics and junk...sugar free cough medicine with heavy drugs is keeping me from passing out when I cough though!
Keep on keeping on all! I shall return!

Beth, I just popped in to see what you were doing - wow! You're like a wild woman. Sorry to see that you're too sick to workout. Definite bummer. Get better quickly so your muscles don't get sad and lonely.
I applaud your effort with the gym log, but for me it is just one thing too many to check and keep up with. I think I'll just keep posting mini updates in my journal. Bye!

Wow there sure is alot of cobwebs and dust in here! I can't believe I've been gone so long...but surely i've not forgotton myself...I must deserve to be back on the road to abundent energy and health....YES, Why ...YES I DO!
I started my water aerobics class last month 3 days and week is what I'm pushing for until I can get an answer on my shoulder...I think I may have a rotor cuff strain of some sort and seems like no amount of heat, ice and rest will keep it down once I start trying to do my resistance exercises. I have a PT evaluation hopefully next week...and If that doesn't happen I'll just have to get creative with a modified BFL and increase in cardio...I'm 6lbs away from my pre BFL wt so I don't feel so very far off the mark. I have no intention of getting back on the motrin merry go round, as I am free and clear of all meds and I don't want to go back.
10/18 Water workout was great...very intense and added intervals for 10 extra minutes...went to bed early friday.
Tomorrows Schedule will include water aerobics am and housecleaning...
