besides the amount of sugar in it, i cant find the nutritional information.

4 grams of sugar really isnt bad for a whole chocolat bar.

70% cocoa chocolate is about 3g carbs PER PIECE. I don't know the weight of this bar he talks about, but it must be quite small or thin.
I have some Lindt in my cupboard and the carbs for the whole 10 pieces is 30g.
I don't believe his calculation for this chocolate.
If you want to have chocolate, choose a small piece of 70% and enjoy it. It's so intense, you won't want more.

I found the weight (by clicking on the order now button, I didn't buy it, just was nosy) - it is .20 of a pound. so that's almost 4 ounces. That's quite a lot of chocolate.

It's a two ounce bar that is 87% cocoa.

Lindt 85% cocoa dark chocolate has 19 carbs per 100g, so I'm really not sure if his claim of 4g can be believed or not. Interesting that he doesn't give the nutritional counts...

And let's not forget that he is selling the stuff, so this is no more than a big advertisement.
Caveat emptor.

When I saw 'healthy' and 'chocolate', I had to investigate....note 2 servings per bar...

I read what the ingredients are at http://www.mothernature.com/shop/detail.cfm/sku/25091
and it seems like something worth trying for an occasional treat.

I have followed Dr. Mercola for a long time and he is more a LC purist than just about ANY one...he is very anti grains and very anti sugar and I cannot imagine him endorsing something with much of either.

I am not sure why pure cane juice (as long as that is what it truly is and not refined sugar) would be much different than the sugar in fresh berries, which are promoted on a lc diet. I personally have seen great sucess when I made a big change in my diet this month by adding some fruit. I actually have seen a 14-pound weight loss, which has overcome an 8-month stall. I will add that I completely eliminated grains and dairy as well, but added a few pieces of fruit each day to balance out the elimination of grains.

I am not sure pure unrefined and unprocessed cane juice would be all that different from sugar in any fruit, especially with less that 4 grams of sugar per 1 oz of chocolate. It just does not seem that it would be that bad (fruit has a lot more sugar than four grams, and plain yogurt has exactly 4 grams per cup and we have been told for some time now that it is just fine to have on a lc diet).

It would seem much better than the garbage they put in some of the lc protein bars... I am beginning to feel that a "little" cane juice (and I do mean very little) must be better than indulging in excessive amounts of sugar alcohol or Splenda...it just seems to make sense to me that a natural product would be better for you than a processed one...but maybe I am wrong...tobacco and marijuana are natural products as well and they are not good for you....

I do know that now that I eat fruit my cravings for sweets are almost non-existent, about the only thing I occasionally crave is chocolate; this might just fit the bill.

I have grown to LOVE the bittersweet chocolate. I always make sure that sugar is NOT the first ingredient. Trader Joe's has quite a variety of %70+ chocolates. My favorite thing is to tuck a piece into my mouth and just let it dissolve then chase it down with a cup of good coffee.

Hi Nancy :)

Just a note to Southern Californians, Henry's has the Dagoba chocolate bar I discovered this morning and I tried it with my morning tea (hot decafinated chai with coconut milk and sf vanilla syrup)...it was great. It was very bittersweet, almost like eating non-sweetened baking chocolate. It knocked my craving for chocolate right out of the ball park. It would be awesome with coffee, but I have sworn off coffee until after the first of the year due to food intolerences. Heck at this rate with all the things I have eliminated I think I can skip Lent this year!
