Hi Nat , Trainerdan or any other exercise experts out there.....I've been walking every other day now since Nov13th on the treadmill or outside at a fast pace for 1/2 hr.
And the other days, I do step aerobics......is this too much? I'm really confused on this, I thought all types of exercise is a good thing?

Nat here is your quote that you posted in another thread......

Too much aerobic exercise can certainly do you more harm than good. You lose lean muscle; something you want desperately to burn body fat.

Now for my next question is, is walking considered aerobic, I love walking, or I'm I wasting my precious time walking? I know I should be adding weights to my program, but my right hand is still healing from a break in October. Hopefully in January I can start lifting hand weights.

Thanks in advance!

Christine: I belive that walking is a great form of aerobics exercise. I have had great results by walking 40-50 minutes a day 6 days a week and weight lifting 20-30 minutes 5 days a week. It's not so much how many times you do aerobics as it is the duration of each session. 40 minutes to one hour of aerobics is much more effective than 30 minutes. Weight lifting is the key to retaining muscle mass. Indeed,I have gained muscle mass since I started in June. As long as you maintain adequate protein in your diet you should have no problems.
