Hi everyone, I though i would start a new thread as we have been chatting in the "what do you other aussies eat" thread. So we can have a chat here in a more appropriate place :)

Caz> That is a good idea about the jeans you bought. Fingers crossed it wont be long until they fit perfectly :) Oh and wedding rings!! I had to take mine of ages ago. Was scared that i was going to lose them, and there is no point in resizing atm, am waiting until i am down to my goal weight.

Hello to all other Aussies & NZ'ders who are lurking out there.

Well I hope that i am joined by some fellow Aussie or NZ Lcers soon.

I found an amazing bargain yesterday. Went to brissie to do some shopping and saw a health food store that had 50% sale on all atkins stuff. So I picked up 4 boxes of morning shine bars for $5 each. A pancake mix for $4.95 and a bottle of atkins maple syrup for $4.95 too.

So stoked with my find :)

Hi Tara, How's your weekend? I've had a really busy one and this is my first chance to jump on the net. We spent today minding our grand daughter, she will be four next week. I have alot of respect for anyone with kids ,as she really kept us on the go. Hopefully I lost a few pounds with all that running around.
Glad you renamed us, it makes more sense , since we don't just constantly talk about food. Hope the others will find this and maybe we'll get a few more Aussie LCers here too.
Sounds like you found some great bargains. I like some of the Atkins stuff, but it's usually so expensive.
Do you live far out of Brisbane? We only have a few health food stores here in Albury and they don't have a very big range of anything LC at all. My sister lives in Melbourne, so I might send her a wish list and see what she can find for me.
I love your positive attitude about your rings, sounds like you are back on track. Here's to everything old fitting once again.
Talk soon. Caz

Hi you guys.

There are quite a number of Aussie members on this forum, but most like me use it for research or specific areas of interest. 'We' are more likely to get together and chat on the Australian low carb forums, so you may find not many check this section. Welcome aboard anyway ... and go easy on all that Atkins food! ;) Just my opinion you understand - but just reading the ingredient list is enough for me! IMO as you are now low carbers for life, it makes sense to base your diet on all the great low carb real whole foods, with perhaps the occaisional indulgence in processed lc pretend stuff (it can stall weight loss as well) - and only if you really like it!!

Cheers,

Malcolm

Hi Caz> Yes my rings were scaring me for a while there, I had started to lose weight while I was pregnant with my son, who is now 5 months old. My rings had become so lose that they would just fall off. So better safe than sorry I took them off. Feel a bit icky not wearing them though, especially when walking along our small country town with 3 kids!!

I think i will be staying in this forum, I go to so many forums as it is, this one while it may not attract a whole heap of fellow aussies, still gives us all the rest of the info and support we need.

As far as the atkins foods go, I am eating their bars just like i would have eaten a muesli bar before I went on the this WOL. I find it is something that I just can't do without. I perhaps will look into making my own at some point but with 3 kids under 3, doing a uni degree and also starting a home based business - time is very precious.

Today I am starting back on my version of atkins induction - i am breast feeding so cannot do induction 100%. I have been a little slack in the past week, and having those damn chocolates for the kindy fundraiser in the pantry has been too much of a temptation for me. I have unfortunately given in, but all is not lost, a couple of days and I will be back on track again. Really hoping to hit the 70kg mark at the end of this month so must really concentrate on food and start trying to get some exercise in.

I bought one of those big exercise balls, which seems like a really good work out but it is so hard with a 2yr old and a 3 yr old in my face trying to grab the ball. Last time I did it, I had them beside me with their little balls too, might try that again :)

Location> we are an hour and a half drive away from brissie. There are a few coles and woolies that I have been to that stock atkins stuff - mindue it is never a big selection but as long as i can get some bars i dont care. I was going to try the empower stuff, but my sister tried the empower wraps and said the were disgusting and stank of chemicals. Was v disapointed to hear that especially considering the price $13 for 7 wraps!! I would still like to try some of the empower cereal though. I do miss having cereal in the morning and am starting to get quite sick of bacon - I dont eat eggs so I am really limited.

Anyway that is enough dribble for me this morning. I hope u have a good day Caz. Any other lurkers?? We would love to chat to you too :)

Hello. Im from southside brisbane.
Sounds like you got a great deal on the atkins stuff. I laying off the bars and shakes for a while to see if i can lose this last five or so kilos. I feel like i have been stuck forever. I also think the glass of wine in the evening is holding me up too.

Hello all

What a great idea to start a thread for us Aussies! Being only a newbie to LC I'm finding it hard to get my head around the combinations. So used to cooking the other way and as cooking has been my hobby for more years that I care to admit to it is automatic to reach for the items I always used to use.
The thing I miss the most is Pasta and Bread. Yeeeees I Reeeeaaaly used to lay into to those 2 items. Only early days for me though...this is my first week.

I live on the Sunshine Coast about 10 minutes south east of Nambour, so you are quite right Tara only about an hour or so from Brisbane.

I'm a "mexican", or so I have been called. Have lived here for the last 9 1/2 years and am sorry did not come here sooner. Love the place.
Now I must go...trying to sort out what is going to be for lunch and dinner as Hubby is on this as well to see how it works but he is not nearly as strict on it as I am.

Big hug to all

Zola, that is brilliant that you have your husband on this WOL with you. Good luck with it all. i am not actually in brisbane but an hour and a half west of it in between brisbane and toowoomba. We were considering moving back to brissie but having visited friends on the weekend and seeing how busy and condensed the living spaces are and then coming back home to our 5 acres on top of a moutain - it really made me appreciate what we have :)

I did a lot better yesterday but could have had a lot less carbs though. I think i had about 60grams. I am thinking atm that if i increase it to about 40grams a day it would probably speed up my OWL. I have slowed down a bit of late and i am blaming that on only having about 10 grams a day or less. Fortunately it isnt affecting my breast milk at all. I really should go back to writing everything down again and keeping track big time. I storta started to become complacent with what i eat and throw in a cheat everynow and then after i stopped keeping a daily journal. Still i havent put weight back on it is still coming off just a bit slower.

Anyway i had better go and deal with my evil children.

Hope u all have a good day

 Hi Zola, nice to have you along. I've been LCing for 5 weeks now and thankfully most of my cravings are gone.If you check out the recipes on this forum you will find some great ideas on how to use the new foods we are cooking with. i have been experimenting alot with my old favourites and trying to LC them.
:p Hi Tara, How's things? I was checking out another forum and they were discussing Polydextrose. It's a different sweetener and apparently it is good in baking and acts more like sugar. They made these yummy brownies and said they were even gooey. Have you heard of it or if we can buy it in Australia. I did a search but couldn't find anyone selling it in Oz. I don't think it is banned because they sell products made with it in the shops. I had a pretty quiet couple of days, i need to get moving a bit and drop some more pounds, the scales haven't budged for a few days now. I've been writing down all i eat, because sometimes it's tempting to guess how many carbs I've had and then overeat. This way I know where I am up to. have a good day. Talk soon. Caz

Hi all aussies..glad I found you again, looks like a few more of us are joining up. I am in South Gippsland Vic...the land of dairy cows, beef and rolling hills..very rural.
Been LCing since May slow but steady weight loss, have kept at it mainly due to this forum and the lovely people I keep meeting. I have started exercising and walking, drinking lots of water, working on my abdomenals all because of buddies and challenges that keep me motivated (most of the time  )
It will be nice compare notes with some fellow aussies. I like to hear what everyone else is doing to keep on the straight and narrow :q:

Good Morning all

Well I jumped on the scales this morning and they are half a kilo lighter. How??? I have no idea. I have had so many cheats the past week with these stupid kindy chocolates that I am supposed to be selling as a fundraiser. Trouble is we know hardly anyone in town and nearest rellie is 130kms away. Oh well they are almost gone now anyway. And it is shopping day today so i can buy some more salami etc for snacks. I tell u what though, all this sugar is giving me headaches. I am drinking a truck load of water to try and flush it out of my body too. Going to try and pump up my gym ball later and start doing that type of work out. It is a massive work out by itself just trying to pump the damn thing up!!

Caz> No I havent seen that sweetner, mindue I dont go looking for things like that either. I cannot be trusted with sweet things in the house (as u can see) so I do try to avoid. If i made a whole heap of cakes or brownies you can be guaranteed that I would sit down and eat most of them. Cravings.... my sugar cravings are going bonkers atm, it is going to be a tough couple of days until i get it all back out of my system. Must stock up on the extra chewy today and sugar free jelly.

Tardon> Glad that you found us :) I too am in a rural area, although i think we are mainly beef up here, its a bit too dry for anything else atm. Ppl keep saying that we are due to have our wettest summer in years, I certainly hope so, our tanks are pretty low and it is costing us a fortune to top them up all the time. I should go and have a look at the challenge section. It might motivate me to do more exercise. I must admit that before i came on to this WOL I was walking about 7kms a day and losing v slowly, since i have been on this WOL I have lost so much weight without the exercise so I am not over fussed about doing any now. But having said that, it is mainly due to where i was walking, we live on top of a mountain and I was walking up and down it. Very steep climbs and it just about made my lungs jump out of my chest. I was getting fitter and fitter from it but all the same it still scared me :p

Anyway enough from me, i need to go and russtle up some bacon for breakfast.

Of before I go, I am not sure if i mentioned it or not but those steakette things you can buy from your butcher have very few carbs - about 1gram each if not less. So for those of u who like your sausages and miss them, it might be work looking at. I hate eggs so I have been having them and bacon and a tomatoe for breakfast.

Byeeeee

I'm glad to actually see some active aussie posters on this site! It's been like a ghost town for ages.

I've been a member of this board for a couple of years now, but have only really successsfully converted to Low Carb recently.

Since July 25th I have been low carbing and I'm losing a bit of weight!

Let's just say it took me a few years to 'de-programme' the low-fat dogma out of me!

I usually post on the empower site: www.empowerfoods.com.au/forums
but sometimes that is quiet too.

I love talking to Aussies because we understand each other. And NZers are kinda similar too!

As much as I love Americans it's definately not the same. Culturally they are very different to us! And also they tend to go on about American things about the food and services over there, so some threads I can't participate in :(

I just wish the Aussie's were more active on forums!

We are slowly getting more and more aussies in here :) the more the merrier i say.

am going to sit in front of the fan now, it is 35 degrees outside, and not even summer yet :(

Hi Everyone, How are we all? Wow , isn't this great, so many people to chat to. Had a good day today, I didn't eat too much and went for a walk.
I was busy all day which is good for keeping out of the fridge. We bought an old camper trailer and are fixing it up. We have four dogs so we are limited as to where we can holiday, but now we'll be able to go to the river and do some fishing.
Tara, I can't believe how hot it is up your way, the highest temp we've had so far is 26. That felt too hot after the cold winter we've had. At least I should have lost enough size by christmas to maybe go for a swim, instead of sitting covered up on shore.
LCDave, You are so right about the low fat thing. I still baulk at what I can eat sometimes and feel guilty. But the weight is coming off and my bloodwork was good.Whereabouts in melb do you live? My sister lives in Seaford.
Well time to go, I'll catch you all again tomorrow.

LC Dave I agree with you..I love the people I've come to know at this forum but sometimes food topics, WOL are a bit alien. Not a bad thing just hard to relate to sometimes. The Aussie look like they might get a bit more active ...we just need to get them to this thread first :agree:
Tigger congrats on the scale moving. Mine did also..a wee bit..but anything is good right :agree: Have a look at the challenges, it had really helped me in lots of areas.
Do you guys buy a lot of lo-carb products. I have managed without them but would love to go to a shop rather than buy online. Any hints :q:
hello also to DarwinAus and madamezola , those problems you guys have with pasta bread and wine sound like so many of us. I still have a vino in the evening..can't be that bad.....
Okay better get off it can be so time consuming reply to all the buddies and threads. Night

Morning all

Well my good news today is that..... The kindy chocolate is finished!!!! so now i can get back to normal and not stress about what is in the cupboard or fridge.

Its great to see some more talking going on in here.

Dave to answer your question, I had posted several questions trying to find out what i should be eating low carb wise while i am breastfeeding and i just found the answers very frustrating, they were telling me things that i had already said myself in my question, it sounds petty ino but i was in dire need of some help back then and it just put me off. I find sometimes that when people are trying to be helpful they can come across as being arrogant. For example ino that water is imperrative to this wol, but to tell a breast feeding mother how much water they should be drinking and to make sure that i drink it, well thats a bit silly to me and insulting also. If i dont drink water how am i to produce to milk for my baby. There is nothing like stating the obvious sometimes hey!!

anyway i must go and feed the kids now. Hope u all have a wonderful day :)

tara, my apologies for seeming arrogant in giving you advice on empower. it's actually very interesting that you would think so, considering you seemed to have misinterperated what was actually posted to you. i certainly didn't tell you how much water to drink - i simply stated that 2 litres is generally recommended for normal low carbers and i don't know what is recommended for breastfeeding women so what you are drinking should be more than enough. i also stated that there is no real benchmark for breastfeeding women who low carb and that if you were losing at 80-100gs a day then to stick with it if you were happy. the 2 crucial points i added because i'd read another post by you and you hadn't read Atkins and didn't seem to know exactly what the diet was about or how to proceed (and also for other people who might be in a similar situation to yourself). we do tend to 'state the obvious' when trying to help a new person who has been attempting to follow a diet that they haven't researched or read up on.

_tigger_
Wed, Oct-05-05, 18:43
Sam, I did know what the diet was. I was looking for fellow breast feeding mothers who were low carbing and asking what they did that worked for them. I wanted to know what worked for other people so that i could get more of an idea of what to do for myself as Atkins told me to do the maintenance phase due to the breastfeeding. I had looked into it a fair bit before commencing to ensure that it was suitable for me but the information for breastfeeding mothers was limited, hence my posts.

Furthermore it was not your replies that left me feeling frustrated it was a combination of other posts, reading back your comments were very helpful.

But welcome to the thread I started so that us Aussies can support each other through our weight loss journey. :)

I have just re-read all of the posts and i think that i was perhaps being too sensitive at the time, as upon reflection all the replies to my questions were informative and helpful to anyone in my position. look, there are no hard feelings, i just want you to understand that no one would have had a go at you or been insulting on purpose, i think your interpretation of what was posted could be because you didn't really make your low carb history clear. we tend to tread on the side of caution when posting for new people, they can take things very literally. most never had read anything about the diet they are following. i think most long term posters feel a responsibility to be as careful and obvious as possible because there will always be someone else reading that post.

i've been a member of this forum for some time but it was very quiet for ages and i am following Paleo now, so i dhavne't been in here for some time. thanks for the welcome. i'll try to post more often

Would take them all out during the day but it is 39 degrees atm, and my 3yr old wouldnt want to walk that far and would wind up wanting me to carry her. When i get the air con installed i will get that exercise ball out of my cupboard and do workouts that way.

Just think, it isnt even summer yet, we are going to severely cook here this summer. :(

oops you posted this while i was posting my last one!! well glad that we have worked through those differences. it's funny how as you journey through changing the way you eat, you also journey through changing yourself in many ways.

relle people with your condition do find it harder to lose. i would suggest doing some weight resistance as well as some interval training (interval training is walk 50 metres, run 50 metres starting off at 5 mins and building up for longer periods). even doing that 3 times a week should help build some muscle and burn fat. all the advantages you can get hey!

I'm basically following protein power breakfast usually scrambled eggs with bacon and tomato through it lunch coleslaw ( buy dry and put my own dressing in) meat cheese tomato tea is meat and veg. appetite is all over place while metformin kicking in some days not hungry others need a snack which is usually nuts. I've found yoghurt, fruit and nut snack, savoury biscuits in serving sizes of 10-15 g of carbo if I need something other than protein Sam exercise is a struggle, arthritis in knees sometimes painful energy has been minimal but getting better. I have a exerciser which you pull up to standing with own weight and theirs heaps of hills here now the days are longer it's easier to get out ( I check the net out at work, not back in now till tues have a great weekend everyone)

Hi Everyone, Each time I log on there are a few more people chatting, This is really great, Aussie LCers are alive and well.
Today the scales finally moved again. I have been stuck on 83kgs for nearly a week, but today I was just under 82kgs, YaHoo! I am trying to drink as much water as I can, I really don't like it, but eveyone keeps saying drink more water and you'll lose quicker. They are right.
It was rather cool here today, actually had to put on a cardigan.
Tara, I'm glad you finished the kindy chocs, luckily I dont' crave chocky much and when I do I have a piece of the 3 min choc cake and that does me for a few days. I guess we all have our vices. I love the cheesecake I make with cream cheese, cream and splenda. I usually chop a few strawberries into it and Monday I made it and put it in those kids decor ice block thingies and made ice creams. At only 3 carbs each they are yum and they take longer to eat than not frozen. I find them quite satisfying for a treat.
I can't exercise much unfortunately as I've done my back. At the moment I am waiting to have more tests and then probably surgery. i have found I am losing weight even though I can't exercise, which is great for me.
That's it for today. Talk soon. may you all be lighter tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

Not too much happening here this weekend. I am going to do the big weigh in tomorrow, tried today and was 77kg but hadn't "been" to the loo yet **sorry if TMI** and hadnt feed the baby yet so both boobs were chocka block full of milk. So i am guessing with those variables my weight was probably closer to 75kgs. I certainly hope so :)

I really need to get back on track, am finding it a bit hard to be 100% committed ever since the kindy chocolate incident. I need to go through my photo albums I think and look at fat me pics. I have a party to go to at the end of the month and it is a friend of my husbands that we havent seen in about 4 years, my husband has recently caught up with him, but he hasnt seen me. To this friend appearance is everything and last time we saw him I would have been about 100kgs, he was around when i was only a size 12 and saw me go up to a size 22. So it would be really nice to go to this party and be back down to at least 70kgs by the end of the month. Highly unlikely unless i start running a marathon everyday and watch every gram that goes in my mouth.

Has anyone else stumbled upon complacency after loosing a fair bit of weight? How do you overcome it??

Hope u are all having a great weekend.

DawninAust..exercising in the heat is really going to test me. I only just started back when I started LCing. We have have had a few "warm" days and I absolutely withered while walking and exercising. You will apppreciate the a/c gym.
Relle I sorry you are having a testing time with your health, any walking at all will do you good, its the only thing I really do regularily. Something better than nothing. Hope Lcing brings you some good resuts.
Hey tigger how are you going with the exercise ball, I have just started using it...it is tough to balance and do those moves at the same time. Our weight is very close and mine also moves around a bit. I can't blame mine on swollen boobs  You have done a great job with your weight loss, keep strong and you'll loose something by the end of the month. :agree:
LC Dave its sounds like you are really missing the heat...you'd be freezing at the moment we have had mostly rain and wind. (Suns out today though)

Hi Sis, well this is a nice little chatty thread you guys have going here! It's amazing how many threads must be going on that you never get to see because of the huge turnaround in threads in the first few pages, or under the "new threads" entry.

After doing really well again last week, I sort of flunked out again over the last 4-5 days, but have decided to get right back into things as this week and I've done well so far today. Only carbs I've had have been in two protein drinks. Will have a big plate of veggies with some chicken for dinner. The other half is also starting back LC-ing today, which always helps!

Hello to all those other Aussies. I'm tigger's sister and I live up in Townsville, where I would have to say the thermometer is definitely on the rise. This will be my first summer here, as I lived in Brissie until March. Interesting to see how I deal with the heat. But, I didn't have air conditioning in Brissie and my gym's where never air conditioned, very different to where I am up here. As I write this I am sitting in a lovely cool airconditioned room!

Well, Hi to all - and especially to tigger. May well check in again soon. Have been trying to find some people to come onboard a 30 cheat free challenge. Really need some kind of motivation to get me back on track!

I went out to tennis around 4.30pm and I heard the phone ring just as I left. Came back inside and *10#'d but it was a private number so that could have been you.

Welcome onboard the 30 day cheat free express. I know that we'll both make big changes in that 30 days - look how much we both changed last time we stuck well to the WOL for 30 days.

Will be home tomorrow after school.

Tarnya> forgot to say earlier.... OMG it is a bit hard to balance on isnt it!! Especially when u have to go from side to side while boucing up and down on the ball. Oh but hardest of all for me was when i was lying on my back with my legs in the air and the ball between my legs at my ankles - and squeezing together. Will give it another go tomorrow, hopefully it will become easier as time goes on too. Do u follow a dvd? I have the basic one that came with the ball but am thinking about going and browsing ebay to see if there are other ones i can get.

I'd LOVE to join the 30 day cheat-free challenge, please. Am on inducton (still have 55lbs to lose) and just being tempted to cheat after 2 1/2 weeks of plateau weight (and NO loose clothes) even though I register 2nd to darkest ketone stix reading (am guzzling water to make sure it's not dehydration) I wonder if maybe the calories I have are just too high and the fat being burned is solely ingested food fat, not body fat (sigh). Still want to stick with it, but really would appreciate some support just now. I'm amazed and glad that I don't crave chocolate/icecream any more, but enjoy the mock danish, it's yum. I'll join you in this 30 day challenge for sure. catdogqld.

Happy to have you on board catdog. I have a thread just for the 30 day cheat free. Not that it's been very busy yet!

http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?p=5634302#post5634302

The good thing about 30 days, is that after another 30 days we can just start again if we want, so if you miss the start you're never too far away from another one starting.

I'm going to document how it makes me feel both physically and mentally as things improve.

BTW, there are often times where you plateau for a short period of time, but don't stress - it will move. Take measurements and use them as a guage rather than the scales.

Morning everyone,

Hoping that you are all well and busy losing weight :) My only news is that I have lost another kilo this week from being back on strict lc'ing. I have had to go through the headaches etc again due to my week of chocolate eating. But havent woken up with one this morning so it looks positive.

Anyway must go and feed the kids, just wanted to kick the thread along.

Hi All,

Have been reading up on all of the advice and tips on all of the threads, and came across your very supportive group. I am nearly at the end of week 2 of induction and think I have been pretty good. I am averaging between 15 - 20g carbs per day. After the first week I lost about 3 kgs, but this week nothing. The stick is showing moderate fat burning, but being a women may be playing havoc with my results.
I miss certain things, especially when the girls have morning tea at work, or when I have to dodge certain foods at a dinner party but on the whole I feel ok. Just wish I could see some more results. i go to the gym 3 - 4 times a week (30min only) and have just made it to 1km on the treadmill jogging so my energy is definately better. Any thoughts on whether I should repeat induction??
I have been eating an atkins bar a day, so maybe I should give them a miss. Need to lose around 12kgs hopefully be Christmas!!

Nice to meet you all and I look forward to participating in the thread.

Cheers

Hi Lola, and welcome! :)

I think you are doing very well indeed, and I wouldn't change anything just yet. Time and time again we see people have a little "pause" or "plateau after the initial weight loss. Your body seems to be taking stock and coming to terms with the loss.

Did you know that the average amount lost during Induction is 10% of the amount you need to lose? You are already 17% down, so are well ahead of the game. I think it's a shame that Dr Atkins emphasised the large amounts people can lose, because in reality, it's only folk who need to lose much larger amounts who lose 1 pound per day and more during Induction.

So, my advice would be to carry on exactly as you are, and before long I'm sure you'll drop some more. Maybe if you don't lose anything for another week or so, you could ditch the bars, but for now I think you are doing really well.

Cheers, matey.

Hi all Aussies...sorry I have'nt popped in to see how we are all going. The week just disappeared.
Tigger, with swiss ball I don't have a dvd bu the exercise class I go to do a full workout with it. I am not disaplined enought to do it on my own at home. Although just sitting on it watching TV and bouncing does some good
Nice to have lola123,Rosebud and ursul001 drop in. I also have a sister that is involved with this forum. Lola stay strong and you'll get the benefts you deserve from a good induction.
My family is going away for a few days so I shall drop back in next Wed. Have a lovely weekend and loose weight.....I shall try to be good on my hollies.

Hi everyone, things seem a bit quiet on the Aussie threads lately.

I had a big weekend with rellies staying and lots of socializing. I was good though. There was lots of yummy food and desserts to be had, but I made sure I had plenty of LC treats around and did fine.

Hope you all had a good weekend. Will talk again soon.
Happy LCing.

Hi Again All

I bought the ketostix but am not sure what I should be aiming for as far as a reading. I have heard that too dark is not good and others say that the darker the better. So I am a bit confused about that. I am still feeling ok, however have been craving certain things like vegemite toast! Weird the things you miss. You guys are all doing so well, very inspirational. i just want to walk around in summer without my legs rubbing together *lol*

Hi Lola,
I know exactly what you're talking about. My partner and our family love to go camping and fishing and for the last 5 years I've always sat on the shore or stayed home because I was too embarassed by my size to go in the water.Hopefully this summer I will at least get into shorts and feel better about myself. And next summer....Look Out.
I have never used ketostix, I am losing weight so I guess I must be in ketosis. I wonder if I should get some and try them.
I think this forum is great. Signing up has been the best thing I've done since starting LCing this time. It's good to read other peoples experiences and advice and realise we are all aiming for the same goal. To be healthier and fitter and to feel good about ourselves. The support here is great.
Good Luck and Hang in There.

Morning fellow LCers

Not much to report on at this end. I have been strict lc'ing for 9 days now with no cheats at all. The headaches have stopped again which is good, means all that kindy chocolate is out of my system :) Am now sitting pretty close to 74kgs - its hard to get an accurate reading though, depends on how much boobie milk my little baby has had before i hop on the scales.

I dont think i will make it to 70kgs before the end of the month - probably was an unrealistic goal anyway, but I am positive i will get to the 70kg mark before my birthday at the end of next month.

Lola & Caz> I am another one who won't be hiding behind anything this summer. Although for the past 3 years i have been pregnant so i have always had a good excuse but not anymore. Getting lots of positive feedback from the people ino about my weight but I still feel like a fat pig. Maybe it is my TOM hormones reappearing after the birth of my son? not sure.

Keep up the good work everyone :)

How is everyone else going?

Catdog here, reporting another cheat free day. Had 10g 85% cocoa Lindt (2 carbs) and really enjoyed it! I asked earlier about the lc coconut cream pie but have had no response. Someone suggested I should be asking on a different thread but I beg to disagree - it was on this thread that I saw it as Pollyanna's 'treat' for reaching her goals. I did post but it seems to have either got lost in cyberspace or moved somewhere else without telling me? surely this can't happen??! Help, need some inspiration. Weight just sits and sits, clothes DON"T feel any looser, but I'm hanging in there are NOT cheating! Would appreciate some support here! :help:

Catdog> I think it is an american thing the lc coconut pie. Have u done a search through the recipie section of this site? Perhaps they have it there.

Hey catdog, you posted the comment about the LC cream pie to pollyanna on my 30 day cheat free thread, not on this one! ;)

The only reason I commented that you might get a quicker answer about the coconut cream pie on the general threads is that anyone reading them who know anything about the pies will see the title and you are much more likely to get a quick answer. Pollyanna may not look at my thread anymore, so may not see your question in there directed at her.

If you have a look at the other thread, you'll see that we all experience times where there is very little movement in either weight or measurements - but remember to not worry about it on a day to day basis, lets just concentrate on getting to the end of this 30 day cheat free, and take stock of where we are then compared to what we were like when we started. :D

It gets a bit hard to see the wood for the trees when you try to measure or weigh every day. It's much more positive when you get the chance to step back and see the overall SMALLER (couldn't say BIG there!) picture. Hope you get that play on words there.

Wow! Thank you, thank you, thank you, so much everybody. Tigger you did make me laugh about eating the whole pie! To tell the truth I'd throw it down the insinkerator to get it away from me, and just keep enough for two days. Thanks for the cheesecake recipe. Ursu, sorry about the confusion (mine) with the threads, I did get mixed up. I have been up all night for a number of days and nights now after my puppy got tick paralysis (she lived!) and was misdiagnosed by the vet as Parvo's virus (which kills), so I'm not my usual self - no sleep, etc, but do you know, after being off sugar for 4 weeks or more, I didn't hoe into the junk food or comfort eat at all!! Which for me is marvellous. Malcolm, thanks, I didn't realise I could start a new thread of my own to ask things especially. I have been keeping a food journal, didn't think to post it online (I'm new to this stuff, sorry if I sound like a dill. I can understand that it is lost in another thread) I will do exactly that tomorrow, and would love some feedback, I'll run through what I've been doing. It's amazing to think that kind of detailed help is available, thank you and to Tigger. What am amazing place, is cyber space. I look forward to moving upwards (and downwards) and onwards. Thanks Ursu, I get the word play, that one was for you. Have enjoyed your thread, and am still cheat free. At the risk of repeating myself endlessly, thanks everyone!. catdog

Congratulations everyone, as you get closer to the 30 days. Marlene

Catdog, I use Advantix for my dog - and this place (townsville) is littered with ticks - and he gets absolutely none. My neighbours dogs are covered in them literally.

I shop at this site for my vet products as they are significantly cheaper than buying elsewhere.

I have two cats and a puppy, so it does save us money to buy this way. It costs about $30 a month to keep them all protected from everything.

Thank you for the coconut cream pie, I am so embarrassed :o about how obsessed with the silly thing I was, that I'm not even in a hurry to make it now! I was so glad to hear from you, didn't realise how stressed I've been but yours was a kind post, and it brought tears to my eyes (sorry, I'm not usually like this it's lack of sleep. Did I tell you I had to feed the pup three (3!) mls of rehydration fluid EVERY HOUR ON THE HOUR for 30 hours after she came home from the hospital?! :help: Will use the Advantix for sure. The puppy was only 8 weeks and had never been away from our house. She was due to have her shots this week and I'd just heart-wormed and other wormed her and didn't think I'd better give her too much stuff at once. The worse thing was I told the vet I'd never seen a tick so didn't quite know what I was looking for yet, and perhaps it could be that (he didn't look). Never mind, all's well that ends well! lol. I've got my journal thingey and I think I need to put in a new thread but am not sure how yet (is it under New Posts?). This very exciting, pity I don't know what I'm doing yet! If you are in ketosis still, do you need to do induction again? Maybe it will give you the kickstart to do cheat free again. Are you cheat free today!??? It all counts! Good luck to everyone, hope you are all feeling good. Catdogqld (and new under one kilo weight puppy)

Hi All,

I am up to week 3 of this WOE, and have started to lose my appetite. I understand that I should be eating a lot of the high protien foods etc, however I don't feel like eating much at all. i have dieted a lot over the past ten years and I know it is not good to skip meals etc so does anyone have any suggestions for me? I want to do this right, because I really want to keep the weight off this time.
I am going to start a journal on Monday, however so you know I go to the gym 4 days a week and used to be ravenous after a workout, now I have no appetite at all and have trouble climbing up stairs.
Help, I think I am doing something wrong.

Oops! Appetite just returned with an awful vengance! After almost 3 weeks eating no more than 15g carbs/day, I have just had deep fried calamari & salad! The thought was to take the crumbs off, but I couldn't bring myself to do it and now I feel like the last 3 weeks have been a waste. Would this have been enough to throw me off fat burning? I don't want to start over.

Hi Lola, catdog here. I'm fairly new to this too, but boy could I relate to the post where you said you had NO energy/appetite - my experience too. I look forward to someone more knowledgeable than me giving their opinion.
I think the best way to check if you're fat burning is the Ketostix from the chemist - needs to have changed colour as an indication, but some people say not to fret over the 'stix. For me, it's a reassuring indicator even though I don't seem to be using up body fat, I guess I must be and perhaps am replacing it with muscle as I too am going to the gym four times a week like yourself. No more cooking the calamari with crumbs on it if you can;t take them off!! I think it means your wheat/carb addiction has been fed again, and perhaps like smoking, youre not making it any easier for yourself. Who know though, perhaps it will be just a glitch, not a hitch. Exercise those crumbs off, I reckon!! Sometimes the guilt attached to a glitch is painful, let it free girl! And go to the gym, have a good workout and start a new day! That';#### feeling anyway. Cheers and good luck. catdog. (I've just started a journal. Rosebud and Malcolm are both great help, with lots of practice wisdom.) Catdog

Hi Rosebud, thanks for the link. Malcolm has given me some advice and if you would visit me next week at my new journal (thanks to your link  ), when I have had a chance to put into practice what he has suggested, I'd really appreciate it. I don't think I've been eating enough to sustain the increase in exercise and might be in that starvation, keep all the weight you can mode. We'll see, over the next week. Thanks for the help. All the best to you. Catdog.

Am very happy with that as it felt like i was stuck on 76kgs for ever. Now I am 3kgs away from my goal of 70kgs. Still thinking of reducing that goal to 65kgs - I am 174cms. What do u all think?
