The other day when I was at the health food store, I found some "crackers' that are made out of whole flax seeds(ingrediants in order..... water, whole flax seeds, tomatoes, onions, sea salt, garlic, garlic powder.) per 30 gram serving the carb count is 2 grams, but there is 8 grams of fibre. I had some of them yesterday with some tuna salad and was surprised at how yummy they were .the brand name is Glutino and they are called cracker flax (the flavour I had were tomato and onion, but they make an apple raisin one as well with a slightly higher carb count) the web site is www.glutino.com and they are made in canada so I am not too sure if you can get them in the states but check it out , because I thought they were a great substitute for a cracker or crisp bread. I actually wrote this before I looked at the web site, but they do ship to the U.S as well.

Considering the body can't digest whole flax seeds, I can see why they would be low in carbs :p

Resident loud mouth eh? I actually wasnt aware of that fact, as I am relatively new to this wol, and I am sure there are many more people on this forum that didnt know that either :p BTW, GROUND flax has no carbs either.

I would love some crackers. I can make almost any type of dip I want, but I'm sick of using celery to dip with. (I don't like any other raw veggies, so no broccoli or cauliflower.) I hope my local health food store has them, because I love the flavor of flax seed. Ilovedogs, thanks for putting the ingredients, because some "low-carb" things have starchy fillers, and that just pisses me off. I'll let you guys know if I can find them here. I tried to see if it would let me buy them through the website, but it was being funky.

I might try to make them. Flax meal is very high in calories, but if flax seed goes through undigested, it might be a lot lower calorie way to have some crunch!

Ground flax does have carbs. Most prepackaged subtract the fiber out before listing carbs. There was a few long threads about this in one of the other help sections.

It's not a great amount of carbs however, and it does help get things moving for alot of people and adds fiber to the diet. It is not a free food however.
