How long should I wait after using ice before working out? I
must say, after using ice on my elbow for a month my elbow has
been nearly pain free for the first time in years!

Sorry Bill, it won't work on your anus. You can shove all the
ice up there you want, and it'll still be sore.

A month?!? You've been icing your elbow for a MONTH? You might
want to consult a medical professional at some point...an
orthopedic surgeon or a physical therapist.

The moron froze the nerves. Ice is only for the first few
hours, then heat is needed. Stupidass. TBR

It's not how often, it's for how long. If you require frequent
icing, daily, for a month, you might want professional
diagnosis and treatment. Icing is usually used occasionally,
for short term, to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

But, hey, it's your elbow, not mine, so, best of luck to ya'.

It wasn't daily. More like once every 5 - 7 days per area.

I have no opinion because it is a non-issue. Why would there
be a limit on how often you can (I assume you mean should) ice
an area? Once every 5-7 days for, let's say, your entire life,
would cause what harm?

If you're worried that the underlying problem isn't going
away, and is requiring weekly icing, my original advice
returns: go see an appropriate medical professional and get an
accurate diagnosis.

If I answer you, will you go the F away imbecile? Here goes:
using ice is masking the underlying problem. You maybe shaving
off bone or tendoin, the pain is trying to keep you from
further damage, and warning you to have it checked. But NOOOO
a moron like you just keeps putting ice on it to mask the
underlying problem. It's like taking aspirin for a broken leg,
yes it'll help the pain, but you won't fix the problem. Now
run home to mommy. TBR

It's the only thing a moron like you understands. TBR

I have but it seems to be somewhat controversial.

I'm concerned of possible problems caused by over-doing it
with the ice. It definitely helped me so far as far as relief
from discomfort. I didn't really think about possibly causing
problems from too much use of ice. I assumed it was common
practice to use ice on many athletes after the game such as
pitchers' arms, etc.

Then be your own guinea pig and do what works for you.

And go see a good Ortho'. Preferably one that deals with
sports medicine.

Cheers!
