Does anyone else get really nervous about going for a doctor's appointment? This will be my first one in years with a new doctor. I am really nervous. I am going to get my thyroid checked out. But, I am nervous because I don't want to see the scale at the doc's office. What if mine is wrong? What if theirs is wrong? I know that I will still have lost 25 pounds, but what if I started at 215 instead of 206, or whatever? Plus, I don't want him to be adverse to LCing. And I don't want him to be some skinny guy who has never had a weight problem who will judge me...maybe I am just freaking out for no good reason? Anyone else experience this???

I gotta say...you probably are. At least I hope so.
I too started visiting a new doctor who - get this - recently decided to weigh patients at every visit! It's horrifying. But it gave me the chance to see my scales are 5lbs off from hers. During the actual visits, she doesn't have a whole lot of time to be disgusted by my blobness or lecture me about eating. Later, when she referred me to a thyroid specialist, he wagged his finger about my weight, which was recorded in my file - but then had to admit he'd put on 35lbs recently after breaking his leg, so he was a fine one to talk.
I hope the visit in completely uneventful for you. :)

Hi,
Me too!
My doctor has lost weight on LC (30 lbs) and because He lost it so fast he thinks everyone else should too. He is always complaining I am losing too slow. I guess he doesn't realize about perimenopause!

What does it matter? That's a game you're playing with yourself. Give yourself a break. :rheart: It doesn't change the amount of fat that's actually on your body, whether your scale reads way too low or if his reads way too high.
Plus, I don't want him to be adverse to LCing.
You don't have to tell him. Don't use the "A" word. Just say you've stopped eating junk food and processed foods, and you're eating a lot of vegetables. It's true, right? ;)
Good luck...

My Dr. also weighs patients at every appointment. It's funny, because last year at my yearly "well-woman" checkup (pap, physical, etc.), we discussed my weight. Well I have lost alot I think. I really didn't want to have to go to her at all until my next appointment (which will be sometime in November) and have her be astounded at the amount I've lost. But of course, I have gotten sick and had to go in, and I broke my finger a few months ago as well. So I did get weighed then, and I know she saw my chart. She did say I was doing great, though we didn't discuss it much.
Until now, I always dreaded going to the Dr. Mine is very nice and tactful, even when discussing my weight, but it will be so wonderful this next time to NOT have that discussion that I am almost looking forward to it. Is that sick or what?
