I've been using Atkins shakes when traveling or when I know that a meal will be delayed. I find them very helpful and I credit that reason for my continued weight loss while I was on holidays this summer. So now that Atkins is bankrupt I'm afraid they won't be making them anymore and I've been looking for alternatives. EVERYTHING I"VE LOOKED AT HAS SUGAR! grrr! Even Slimfast. How does that make sense? Anyway, if anybody has found a good alternative to Atkins prepared shakes, I'd sure love to hear about it.
Thanks.

I use Solgar's Vanilla Whey to Go protein powder. I mix it with LC yogurt, frozen unsweetened strawberries and about 1/4c water and blend it. It's very good.

I found one! EAS ready to drink shake doesnt have sugar. Its 15.00$ for four! OMG I hope there are other options. The other thing that seems hard to avoid in these ready to drink shakes is hydrogenated oil.

You may want to purchase one EAS shake before you spend $15.00 on 4. I tried them and they were absolutely horrible. They taste like powdered milk with a bad aftertaste, defintely a far cry from the Atkins' Advantage flavor. I have tried every available low-carb shake and always end up with the Atkins Advantage shakes. I don't think we have to fear being unable to get the shakes. I read that the Atkins' company will continue to produce the shakes, bars, bake mix, soups and supplements, however, they have stopped production on all the other so-called low-carb foods they were selling. Which is probably a good thing, because in the original production of the Atkins books (1972) did not include frankenfoods. If you cannot find the shakes at your local grocer, you can purchase them online at Atkins.com.

Thanks for that info. I'm happy to hear that Atkins will continue to produce the shakes. I didn't realize that they were continuing the supplements too. I've been stock piling them! Good advice about the EAS shakes.

I never dared to try any other LC shake than atkins, and Dahlia2 I can see why you like 'em so much :D.

I agree with the Atkins shakes, i really like them.. I found a site that was selling them online and stock piled in fear of not being able to find them again...Phew, glad they are still going to make them!

I have about ten boxes in my pantry. Unfortunately my teenaged daughter has discovered them and is using them when she is too rushed for breakfast. I'm glad she's doing this because otherwise she'd go to school with nothing but...I'm still afraid of running out.

I prefer EAS over atkins. Atkins is too sweet for me.

Also, Eas is not 15$ for 4 shakes, i dont know where those numbers are from . its 5.99 or so for 4 shakes, just like atkins.

anyhow, only diffrence is the fat content, atkins has more fat.

also you can try some designer whey or any other whey powder. I make fake fruit smoothies wiht it by putting 1/2 cup strawberry jello, 1/2 cup frozen strawberry jello, and some sugar free fruit punch in a blender. Its really tasty especialy when i want fruit, which i dont eat.

I have used powdered protein. What I'm looking for though is a ready to drink shake so I can just grab it and go- or perhaps just leave it in my car for a few days in case of emergency. I got the cost of the EAS drinks from the Sport Nutrition Depot website. I double checked and sure enough, they're $15 for four. I'm in Canada - perhaps that's the differance. At regular price I pay 8.99 for four Atkins shakes. Thanks for the "fake fruit smoothy recipe" it looks pretty good.

^ is that 15 canadian dollars?

15 dollars US would suck for any shake. i feel sorry for you, thats expensive.

Ohh and you cant leave them in your car, its nasty when its not cold... any of them can be nasty actually when not cold.

the EAS vanilla reminds of me of milk with a mild vanilla flavor, which i like a lot, especially when i crave milk.

Yes, it's 15$ Canadain - that makes it perhaps $11 US. It's still expensive. I've found that by looking around I've occasionally gotten better deals on Atkins. I live in Yukon (very isolated) so my main source is online. I think I'll try the EAS. I'll just buy one, as someone suggested earlier and see if I like it. I'm thrilled that Atkins will still be available though.

Never try slim fast shakes..take that from me. They gave me horrible cravings after lunch (I had the shakes in BK).
