Sorry. One last time, this one for the record.

What should I eat (in terms of protein, fat, and carbs, not specific foods):

Before cardio (assuming I'm doing it first thing in the AM)
After cardio
Before lifting
After lifting
From what I've read lately, you eat nothing before a morning cardio. I've also read that after lifting, within 45 minutes you should eat protein and carbs, no added fat.

Let's get some opinions here. Maybe this will one day become a sticky so people like me won't have to keep posting the question!

Back when I was putting a lot of focus on these things, here's a sample of what I would do. (I no longer do this as I don't find it to be of any benefit to an overall optimal lower carb eating plan. The only slight exception would be in making sure that I eat something within about 3 hours after resistence training).

Before cardio: ECA stack, cup of coffee(just because)
After cardio: Typical breakfast... 10 eggs, 1 serving oatmeal. 3 grams of flaxseed oil caps. All vits, minerals etc.
Three hours before lifting: 30-40 grams of protein, maintenace dose of creatine, 3 grams flaxseed oil caps.
One hour after lifting: Myoplex shake.

Yikes! Sounds like you were darned serious about your lifting! What's ECA?

I should probably add that all my workouts will be in the morning, beginning around 4:30 am. It's the only time available to me for working out. If I don't do it in the morning before going to work, it don't get done.

ECA=Ephedrine/Caffeine/Aspirin. You have to do what you have to do and if that means getting it done at 04:30, then that's what has to happen. I wouldn't worry too much about the pre workout meal unless you'll be doing some high intensify resistence training. If that's the case, then a small protein meal might be helpful in minimizing muscle protein breakdown. Just do what you feel necessary to get you in the mood to have a good workout. Have a normal breakfast at whatever time best suits you after your workout and then continue on throughout the day eating normally.
