I was just wondering, the thread on eating disorders made me think of this. Has anyone here ever been/is a cutter/burner? I’m not trying to cause a big debate or anything, I was just wondering.
I know when I was about 18-19 I was. It was the only way I could deal with things. I went to therapy and learned other coping mechanisms and I don’t do it anymore, but I’d be lying if I said the temptation wasn’t there still sometimes.

Does anyone else deal with this?

*and please, no flaming me. If you think it’s morally abhorrent or something, just move along and don’t respond.*

Morally Abhorrent?! You had a problem and dealt with it what is morally wrong with that? Please do not feel this way. If anything you have done what is moral and reached out for help. I work at a University with many, many young woman who cut and burn themselves and I know it's so hard for them to stop and get their stress and self esteem undercontrol. Good luck with the search and I hope you find someone who can support you and relate.

I used to self harm, by cutting and burning. I get the urge fairly often, but the longer i go without doing it the easier it becomes.....
