I'm not sure if this was posted prior to this here. This guy sure has some hatred for the low carb "diets".

Time Webpage (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1090919-1,00.html)

So it's not surprising that when Dr. Robert Atkins' 33-year-long fad diet finally came to a crashing end last week, a whole lot of us were glad.

I didn't know that "fads" lasted for 3 decades. :D

The guy seems to have a hatred of any diet full stop. He even states that he successfully used Atkins to lose 25 pounds and gain a wife! People with that kind of idiotic way of thinking should definitely not be contributing writers to a mag of the stature of Time. He's the sort of person who would have been in the front row in Salem yelling "Burn them, Burn them." (or any other extremely uneducated moronic example you care to come up with.)
Shame on him for his lack of intelligence, but worse still - shame on Time for publishing this drivel in the first place.

I can't wait for his new story about how he gained back even more weight his wife left him for a low carber who knows how to stick to a way of life.

This guy's article makes no sense. It sounds like he has way to much time on his hands. You can make subs for almost any high carb food out there. Like french toast. Besides why hate some one for such a shallow reason.

The hatred stems from the "Protestant Work Ethic". Since overweight is due to glutteny and sloth, you should have to suffer to lose the weight. Eating well and losing weight just doesn't sit right with him.

Joel Stein is Time Magazine's attempt -- failed, in my view-- at having a Dave Barry type humor writer. I wouldn't worry about it.

IM (not so) HO: It's just an overall bitter, mean-spirited piece of garbage...not really that funny, either...

He needs to work more on being humerous and less on sounding like a curdmeneoun.

Well I'm all for humour and subscribe heavily to the Monty Python/Douglas Adam kind of humour myself, but I did not see any humour in the article at all. I would not have guessed at all that it was meant to be read or even written with the prospect of amusing people in mind. It's not the fact that he attacks Atkins specifically, but just his general narrow mindedness that put me off-side.

You guys didn't like that? He was very funny, I thought. (Wry humor? Dry humor? One of those)

"...Dr. Robert Atkins' 33-year-long fad diet finally came to a crashing end last week..." - come on, that's good!

You can even read thru and see it as an attack on the Frankenfoods monster that escaped from the lab when Dr Atkins wasn't looking. (That Splenda stuff is disturbingly sweet, I've just noticed. Even my girlfriend, who shares the article's "bread-based worldview" recoiled from Splenda soda.)

Anyways, that's how I read it.

LOL...after reading that article, I just HAD to email that idiot....and I quote:

"Mr. Stein -

You are, without qualification, a complete moron. You have my most respectful and sincere condolences on the loss of your mind - if you ever had one.

Regards,"

Heehee...that felt good...if quite childish...lol... ;)

I think we should all take the time to flood his email inbox with more comments and maybe even some accurate portrayls of what LCing is all about!

"Certain foods cannot even be made without bread -- such as French toast and bread."

[QUOTE=Usul001].........to a mag of the stature of Time........./QUOTE]

Um, where have you been? Time is one of the biggest hack rag opinion pieces there is....of course that is only my opinion......

"........Shame on him for his lack of intelligence, but worse still - shame on Time for publishing this drivel in the first place"

I agree there!

The anti low carb hypocrite is truly an amazingly ignorant idiot, and this guy(the author of the article) showed the planet what a moron he really is........
