I'm not trying to get into an argument-- I'm just wondering: I've read in Eades' "Protein Power" that you should never eat any carbs before you lift weights, or anytime even near before or after, because it will shut off the flow of your human growth hormone. How does this square with the carb-up that happens on CKD?
:) Thanks for your attention.

Good observation Missy.
However, the debate over consuming carbs prior to exercise and subsequent stunting of GH release has and still is being argued by exercise gurus for years.
Having said that, it does not apply to CKD's. On a CKD you carb up on Friday AFTER you workout and all day Saturday and Sunday. On those days you DO NOT workout (this maximizes glycogen supercompensation).
Come Monday morning, you will be back on low-carbs ... and doing AM cardio and PM weight training. Since you will not be consuming carbs, you will not be interfering with any GH release that may occur.
