Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and only on Atkins 8 days. I am doing it conjunction with software that I think is exceptional. - DietPower - Check it out at
http://www.dietpower.com/

I took a quick look at the software you recommended at their website. I would suggest that when a diet plan has "watch out for beef" listed as it's number two reasons for failing at dieting that it is probably NOT very Atkins friendly. So, if you truly are doing Atkins in an attempt to lose weight, I would give some serious thought to using your Diet power disc as a drink coaster, or a frisbee and keeping it far away from your computer.

The software is very useful and atkins friendly. Not with standing anything it has on it page about beef. The fact is you can modify the diet to track nutrients in any portion you like. For instance, I have my profile set up for 75% fat, 20% protein and 4 percent carbohydrate. It not only allows me to keep track of these nutrient intake but other nutrients as well; it recalculates on a daily basis a caloric intake and thus a nutrient intake based on my metabolic rate.

Your e-mail smacked of a reaction to something you read without even looking at the software.

However, since I am not a sells person for the software, no skin off my back. But I plan to keep it because it is an exceptionable dieting tool.

FYI, vrandall, may of us use www.fitday.com to do just what you described. The only advantage I can see fitday having over dietpower is that it's free (no trial period), however it is web based.

Well, call me reactionary, I jumped the gun and my apologies for that. The information provided at the website is highly biased to a low fat diet regime. It was not just the beef statement that made post that, it was the whole anti fat, anti calorie take that the website promotes which is totally the opposite of Atkins.

I did not realize that you can set your own values for nutrients and personalize your own regime. That obviously is important for someone doing Atkins. I just looked at what the website promoted, and knew that was not Atkins friendly.

In any case, as Nat said, many of use use the free service at www.fitday.com to do exactly what your program seems to. It too keeps track of individual nutrients and values, which you can set to any level you wish. To be honest, fitday also is very skewed toward low fat, low calorie eating, so you have to get past that in order to utilize their service to an Atkins perspective.

It sounds like your software does exactly what fitday.com does, and for both you have to personalize to make Atkins appropriate. My apologies again for assuming that what was on their website was indicative of their entire program. I certainly didn't mean to personally offend you.

Fitday.com is awsome.

How do you set-up a regular reataurant salad with blue cheese dressing. How many carbs.... I have figured between. 10 to 12. Also cooked vegetables... Broccoli, Califlour, zuchinni, .. a restaurant portion.... I have figured between... 10 to 15...

am I close ?

Thanks
