Hi,

recently I had a small adventure with my stomach and the exams
indicated peptic ulcer.

I am trying to find a white- and black-list of food and drinks
that someone should follow in order to have healthy nutrition
in regards to peptic ulcers.

One of the many reasons that I am asking this is because I am
a bit confused myself regarding what is bad or good for the
stomach in such cases. It seems to be that there is different
evidence over time, e.g. beer (actually the yeast incredient)
was supposed to be good for the stomach and not wine and
recently I have been told the opposite by a doctor. On the
other hand, coke is supposed to be unhealthy and many people
agree with it.

I would appreciate any info on this matter, or where I could
find out information about nutrition best practices.

Many Thanks.

I am no expert but try switching to foods lower in protein and
fats since they require less acid to digest. Possibly the
stomach lining is compromised due to Helicobacter Pylori
infection. Did your doctor check for this? Did your doctor
recommend Pepto Bismol?

Have you tried a couple of 1000 mgs of vitamin C per day? You
should try it for a week or so and see if there is any
difference.

Stay away from fatty foods especially dairy. Avoid sodas
and caffeine.

Hi,

thanks all for your valuable tips.

Just to try to make myself more clear. After taking medication
for the peptic ulcer (Nexium) and for the Helicobacter Pylori
infection (a set of antibiotics), my stomach is in much better
condition. The H.Pylori test was also negative.

What I want to do now is to have as much as possible good and
healthy nutrition in order to avoid unpleasant incidents like
the bleeding ulcer I had last time.

That is the main reason that I am looking for some nutrition
best practices, not to have ulcer healed but to avoid new
stomach irritations.

Btw, I am neither smoking nor drinking coffees. Just want to
have a high level "Do Drink/Eat" and "Not to Drink/Eat" lists.

Regards, Akis
