Hi...
Quick question for all the ladies who are low-carbing. I just started induction last week, and for the last two days, I have experienced some light spotting. (I'm usually very regular) I'm in the middle of my cycle, and I'm not ovulating or anything. I'm not on the pill, so if it's not the diet, I don't know what's up. Any thoughts? Anyone else experience this??
By the way, I've already lost 6 pounds, and I'm feeling great. Yay!!!

there are a LOT of posts on this topic, not that we mind you asking. never underestimate the power of insulin on your other hormones - it is almost inevitable. however, if you are at all concerned, i would check it out with your doctor. I have become anovulatory in the last year. while i don't think that it had anything to do with the diet, i really wish i had checked things out earlier than I had - it might be 'too late' for me. so if you are worried, see your doctor, but also realize that this has happened to so many women before you. i'd recommend doing a search on the topic.

After following this eating plan for about 2 1/2 years, all of a sudden I starting spotting come mid cycle till the end. Never spotted before, and for about 6 months I kept spotting. I thought maybe it was a sign of the change of life coming in. Have a family history of going through it early. Doctor to me it was not, and gumply to me it was not normal. (Oh Well). Anyway, went on vacation in Vegas with hubby. And yes, for the first time in years, had several higher carb meals. One a pasta dish. AND you know what, I did not spot at all that month! Back home and on my normal plan, I would notice the spotting again. Had a pasta meal again this month, about mid cycle, and once again, no spotting.
I know my eating style is the reasons for spotting, not sure why. And since I am more or less on maintance I just have a high card meal mid month and all goes well.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but going on the atkins seems to have done a number on me as far as my cycle goes. I stopped spotting, but now I'm over a week late. I'm not pregnant, and I've seen the doc and everything is normal, so I guess I just hope it straightens out in time. I can't complain about 12 pounds over the last few weeks, though. :D
