Hey, I started atkins a little over two years ago, and dropped around 40lbs. I loved it; the plan was fairly easy, I felt tons tons TONS better, weight came off easily, ect. I then slowed down about a year ago, then I stopped atkins in the past six months. I just started it up again last saturday, and am having horrible affects. I'm feeling depressed, angsty, and am still having cravings. The worst symptom, however, is the constant fatigue. I wanted to start up exercise, but being so tired, I can't. I heard that after the fifth day on Atkins, that one feels "a burst of energy". I'm on my sixth day, and tired as ever!
Ok, so my question IS, is that I heard that starting a week before one's period is a no-no, and is really hard on one's body. I did this (whoops) before I heard that tid-bit. Is this true?

Not that I'm aware of... I think what you're experiencing is the Induction flu again. I think your body is likely detoxifying the garbage you put into it for the last six months and that's why you're exhausted and flu-ish. Give it time and keep it clean...

My advice though I am a newbie as well would be to start a journal and keep track of what you are eating...the things you eat will determine how your body reacts...plus your mind can work in mysterious ways...I wanted Atkins my husband wanted weight loss and sweets...HA!...so the 1st 5-6 days he was an animal camplaining all the time...now that the weight loss is coming he is a little more bearable.
To make a long blurb short...Stay positive and keep track of what you are eating and drinking...TAKE VITAMINS w/ no IRON

I haven't experienced that burst of energy either. After I fell off the wagon the first time, getting back on was really hard. I had the worst headaches in the world and felt like I could just crawl under a rock and die. It ended after about a week.

hey all - i'd like to add to her question - i've done LC before and re-started (after a few years off) memorial day - had bad flu, got over that, no problem but never did get the energy that i thought i'd get/that i remember.
can anyone help me figure out why?
i know you'll need more info.... just let me know what. (i have a little in my journal as well)

The first time I did Atkins I gave up after 10 days and 14 pounds, because I was so fatigued, irritable, headaches and dizzy all of the time and I couldn't stand it. This time around I'm feeling the exact opposite. I have no clue what the difference is.
