hi i am new here my name is paul. i have diabetes and i am considering carb cycling to get my weight moving again. right now my blood levels are good. last a1c, 6.2. my question is the going back and forth on the intake of carbs........will that mess with blood sugars negatively? any help is appreciated.thanks
Hi Paul,
I don't know much about carb cycling, but I think increasing or changing your type of exercise might help. Could tell me what's your exercise routine. Since my diagnose last year in February, I've cut all potato, pasta, rice, and noodle. I keep my diet routine with mostly vegetarian stuff. I also take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar prior to eating. Take care.

I don't know if I would mess around with increasing and decreasing carbs. I tend to agree with the addition of exercise before anything.

Hi Paul,
I agree with ADE. Try the exercise before messing with carbs. That's great your A1C is lower, but you can get it down to an even healthier level if you work at it.
Exercise is the best treatment (more effective than drugs) for reducing insulin resistance and improving blood sugar control. Do some research on the web and you'll find some studies that show lifestyle change is ***more*** effective than drugs. The drug companies don't tell you that lol. However, you may need to get your exercise up to an hour at a time if you're having trouble losing weight - walking is a very good start.
If you do decide to carb cycle, I hope you will watch your blood sugar and see what it does to you. When I go off my low carb diet for even a single meal my BS shoots up really high. Personally I don't think it's a healthy way to try to lose weight.
Whatever you decide to do, let us know how it's going :-)
Lisa
