Hello again
I was wondering if anyone had found any decent low carb sausages- ideally in national supermarkets so I can get them too- I love them! Didn't realise they'd be so bulked out with 'rusk' and so high.
The best I have found so far are 4g per 100g for Sainsbury's butchers choice but they were disgusting- full of chunks of fat and really sticky.
Next best were M&S mini skinless sausages at 5.3g per 100g, nice but I want normal sized ones, a bit meatier!
All suggestions welcome!
Thanks everyone, annie

Hiya
I find getting sausages from your local butcher is okay. The last time I was on this diet I used to have about 6 sausages a day, I was still losing and in ketosis. Wait till after induction and try some from the butchers. Let me know how you get on

Scotlass took the words right out of my mouth :) Your butcher or local deli will be the best place to find 'no filler' sausages. They'll also have great treats like 'no sugar / no nitrate' bacon and 'additive free' cream cheese / sour cream.

Tesco do some sausages in their "finest range" which come in at slightly less than 4g per 100g, which are tasty and about the lowest I've found so far.

You can find Nuremberg (german) Sausages at Lidl and Aldi.
They contain no rusk, but are quite spicy ( a bit like Lincolnshire sausages) and therefore have some carbs, but no wheat.
They are good for frying and on the BBQ.
PS.: I love your new picture Nat !

Lidl also sell 150g tins of lovely salty macadamia nuts for about 1.69, which have helped me out of some sticky spots! Tescos were the nicest low carb sausages I found- they were doing little chipolata ones at about 2g per 100g. Think they were for christmas, though, as I haven't seen them for a while.
Yeah Nat- veeeeery slinky!

i found that mattersons sausages are good - quite similar to hot dogs. I'm not sure the exact amount, but its around 3 carbs per savaloy-size sauasage. they do a regular and a garlic flavour. My friend eats one everyday for lunch! The good thing about these is they are vacumm packed so they last ages in the fridge. They are also nice in a fried dinner (nothing beats bacon, egg, sausage with a spoon of mayo- ketchup).
I think if you register at the matterson website you used to be able to get a 30p coupon off too!
Also have a look at the frankfurters, they are usually 3 furters for around 1 carb - also Pepperami is a nice snack.
Remember these do tend to contain a large amount of salt - so they may make you retain water.

Hi, Annie,
I found Waitrose free-range sausages are very low in carbs, something round 1g. They have lot of other products suitable for LCers. Shame there're not so many stores around. But they are definitely worth visiting.
Good luck in LCing!

Safeway are doing some really lovely pork, cheddar cheese & roasted onion sausages in their 'best' range, which are only 1.1g carbs each. They also do plain pork sausages at 2.3g. There were only 6 in the box so you couldn't go too mad & I think they cost $1.99. Very nice with a blob of mustard!

Hi Daisy
Thanks for the suggestion of the sausages from safeway (they sound delish :p ). I picked a pack up this lunchtime, will try them for breakfast tomorrow and report back with my rating.
Keep smiling :daze:

Hi
Just reporting back after trying these sausages for breakfast today. Very tasty and not at all greasy even after cooking in lard. Will definitley be buying them again (if not on a regular basis due to the price [£1:99 for 6}) RATING 8/10
Keep smiling :daze:
Ken
I only had 2 (honest), still got 4 left unless Margaret has been routing around in the fridge ;)
