Hi everyone. I have a few questions and am hoping for some feedback. If you are good, and answer my questions (if you can) I will tell you what I had for dinner last night that was sooooooo good! Happy Day!

1) I have been having a hard time losing lately (after falling off the wagon for a few weeks) and I am wondering if my new birth control pills (low dose estrogen/progestrone) could be responsible. Anyone have experience with estrogen stalling weightloss??

2) I am reading a lot about soy being linked to thyroid problems? Anyone able to comment on this? are the symptoms noticable?

Okay, this is what I ate last night. Some leftover grilled chicken breast, with a slice of Muenster cheese, put in the broiler til the cheese is golden. top with avacodo slices, tomato slices, and cold horseradish sauce (sour cream, green onions, season salt, and as much horseradish as you can handle). it was fresh, yummy, quick and the horseradish gives it a nice zing if you like that sort of thing.

Best of Luck to you all!

I do know that birth control pills can do a number on your weight loss, especially during those first few months while your body tries to adjust.

Your recipe sounds good but unfortunately I can't handle much horseradish!

I have been on BC for quite some time now.... and have moved between different doses. I never noticed a problem myself but it wouldn't be surprising that change in dosage is effecting your body.

As your body becomes more used to it you should see the weight loss again.

I have been on BC the whole time I've been on Atkins...I was totally stalled for a few months and I bet the pill had something to do with it! My mother who is older, weighed about the same as me and wasn't on BC lost weight much faster with less exercise!! I'm sure it gets in the way, but sometimes we have no other options!! I also had a lot of problems with spotting/ weird TOM's when I started LCing, but they seemed to subside. Also, don't overdue it with flaxseed and fiber...you will spot!

I had one of those perennially skinny friends that got fat once she started on BC.

Soy definitely can affect thyroid. If you're eating tons of soy products you might have issues. If you eat a bit of tofu every now and then, it probably isn't a problem.

But extreme low carbing or low calorie can also affect thryoid.

Check out the last post in the hypothyroid FAQ for something I found about the topic.
